Fantastic we made it to thread 2!

This is a thread for all those who have started or are about to start the Shemed programme in January.

Those waiting for blood tests /first pens hope you hear soon!
Those on their first/second jab hope it's going well - do come and tell us how it's going.

This is designed as a supportive space to share with each other how it's going, worries, side effects as well celebrating wins and results :)

I've just started, @Lostatsea10 . The SheMed starting process is smooth. You apply, and put your credit/debit card in for both the blood test and first month. there was a new year delay on getting a blood testing kit delivered. It's a bit odd connecting with someone via the app to sign in with a weigh in and then guidance on getting the blood. It's easy to do but my blood took ages to come through to the tube - I'd probably have given up if there hadn't been someone online advising me. It's less painful giving bloods at my GP.

Self injecting is OK - you just have to get on with it. I was scared - I think many of us are when we start.

It's a year's contract - so a major decision is will you have the cashflow to pay for it. As another post here shows, they'll end the contract if it makes you unwell. I'm already eating less, without imposing a regime on myself, so I think we'll be saving money at the supermarket.

W1D6 - I've used the gaviscon SheMed sent me to ward off the beginnings of indigestion on day one and when needed this week. I've been taking electrolytes daily as I know this helps me when I am losing weight. I've been doing a poo once a day in the morning, except today. Today, I didn't go first thing - but then the urge came very fast and loose late morning. I got there just in time. I don't need to take diarrhoea meds.

The other side effect I have had has been a dry mouth in the mornings when I wake.

So all's good with me on Day 6.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply. I think the year of £99 is easier for me to commit to than a lottery of codes and rising costs with increased doses etc.

I just need to bite the bullet and sign up on Thursday. Wishing you all the best as you end your first week!

Hi, I’ve just found she med whilst researching options and providers and like the appeal of their £99 pm annual subscription. Have people found them a good provider? Feeling so so overwhelmed with the options and want to make a good choice. Been nervous but can’t carry on as I am.

I'm happy with them as a provider but it's only my 1st week x

Annathomps · 27/01/2025 20:33

I’d been feeling pretty pleased with myself that I didn’t seem to have any side effects after my first dose. Took my 2nd dose yesterday and since this afternoon I’ve been suffering with diarrhoea! 😂

YouWillFindMeUnderCats · 27/01/2025 21:12

So day 1 has been ok. I was cold when I went to bed last night and struggled to get warm but I slept all right. I haven’t noticed any signs of nausea or diarrhoea which is good. I’m not sure if there has been any immediate reduction in food noise or appetite, but I’ve been able to say no to chocolate today.

The biggest surprise was when I woke up this morning. I have arthritis in my right knee and I wake up every day with pain until it gets moving again. There was no pain this morning and no need to warm it up. And it’s been better today than it has in months. It couldn’t be the jab could it?

I have had exactly this too. Some days every joint aches, even walking up and down stairs can be difficult. But the pain has vanished. I have read that there is some evidence that mounjaro reduces inflammation and this can reduce joint pain.

It has been quite incredible.

PurpleClare50 · 28/01/2025 05:38

@Annathomps oh no. Hope it subsides soon. I've just taken my second dose and like you was quietly doing a happy dance that I've had no side effects. Might take a spare pair of pants to work today 🤣

I think it could be a painkiller, I can't wait to tell them on my questionnaire.
. I suffer with multiple uterine conditions that cause daily back aches plus around my period I'm in agony. 3 days out from that now and no signs at all of it. I do use grounding sheets on my bed aswell so I think in combination MJ is acting as a painkiller for me, I'm normally sore and tender around my whole pelvis and back right now.

Also, because I'm not in pain and have more energy I feel my libido increasing! Woo hoo .. another great side effect? X

CleverKhakiBear · 28/01/2025 08:01

Morning all, how is everyone getting on? I'm w2d3 and feeling good no side effects other than lighthearted if I don't eat on time. I have work in the office today and it'll be my first office day since starting mj, very nervous to say the least as I don't want to feel poorly there 😭

How did others find mj while at work xx

W1d6 I've been really lucky and had little to no side effects other than dry mouth. Starting to feel hungrier today. I've been in the office every day and it's been amazing actually able to say no to the treats everyone always brings in lol.

I think if you have been handling it okay so fat being in the office should be all good

CleverKhakiBear · 28/01/2025 08:20

@TheGladLilacDuck thank you for the reassurance lovely, I think it's just my nerves playing up. But how good is it to be able to decline treats! I love that, I discovered a chocolate bar the other day that DH bought me last week still untouched! Pre mj o would have inhaled the whole thing 😂

My bloods came back yesterday and I'm impatiently waiting approval. Does anyone know how long the gap between the two is? The lab report was available yesterday morning at about 6am.

Same! Been refreshing for the last 24 hours, I am so impatient 😂

JBJ · 28/01/2025 09:53

Just been approved, after having my bloods repeated at the docs (the results off the blood test sent by SheMed were saying my liver function was dreadful, I was in the pre-diabetes range and cholesterol was high. GP ones are all fine!). Well, I'm assuming I've been approved as they've taken £99 off me! Hoping the first pen arrives in time to start on Monday.

I'm having my bloods re-done by the GP too as I refuse to believe my cholesterol is that bad!

Bear2014 · 28/01/2025 10:09

Week 2 day 1 just done second jab. I've lost 2.5 kg in week one! So happy I've taken the plunge to do this. The week has been great, no side effects apart from thirst and obviously reduced appetite which has allowed me to eat moderately and healthily without really trying. Amazing.

Fingers crossed the effects don't kick in this week and make me sh*t myself on the school run or similar.

JBJ · 28/01/2025 10:14

@Bear2014 yes, I didn't believe mine had gone as high as it was saying it had. Although I'd actually had bloods done a few weeks ago through my GP which were all fine, so was surprised when the SheMed ones came back so vastly different. I suspect those little stick on blood tests, nifty as they are, just aren't that accurate!

Lostatsea10 · 28/01/2025 10:16

I’ve ordered my blood test kit so waiting for it to be dispatched and go from there!

BruhWhy · 28/01/2025 11:00

Can anyone else not stomach any sugar right now? I have a fridge full of very handy protein drinks and yoghurts, and the idea of putting any of it in my face makes me want to heave 🤢

kittykarate · 28/01/2025 11:00

Weirdly my tasso blood test results were pretty much the same as the ones had done about a month previously - my cholesterol was marked high in both. What was different was that the shemed test went RED BAD, but my other test was like "ooh total numbers are high, but your ratio of good/bad is awesome so lets not change anything"

I didn't wait anymore than 10 hours for approval from the issue of the lab report. The report is generally a baseline that we improve against over time in the next set of blood tests. Good luck! 🤞

I'm like this but with fizzy drinks, I was queen of fizzy drinks and juices. But since being on mj I'm only having water/tea/coffee/protein shakes x

This is what I'm worried about - the chuffin' school run!😆
