November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

My shape has definitely changed, I dared to look at my starting photos and you can see it profoundly on the side profile, I’ve lost loads off my bum! I’m also particularly happy about the loss of my squidgy knees - hated these for as long as I can remember and it’s usually been stubborn fat when dieting etc. but it was the first to go with mounjaro!

I’m liking my knees again. It’s all working towards my Amanda Holden-style post weight loss wardrobe where I dress with not just my knees out, but other body parts in really age inappropriate clothing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My happiness level is also up and I’m really enjoying it. So grateful for this little group of likeminded individuals where I can be very honest about the part of me I’ve been in denial about for quite some time πŸ₯°

Thanks for setting such a lovely tone of support and encouragement. Selfishly it's great to have you here!

LindtCurves · 18/01/2025 08:33

Well done! Yes, I’ve got those knees also, and I look forward to them going! I stood in front of the mirror without tensing my abs just now and… My waist is so much smaller! I almost have no belly when I tense them… So maybe that’s worth giving the round bum up for…

Still a lot of jiggling between belly button and knees though!

So new wardrobe due?

Any changes to your appearance other than body weight? I’m a bit worried about wrinkles now that I’ll have less fat to plump my face up.

I’ve been religiously doing my nuface programme and skin care routine - think it’s working towards stave off the wrinkles. Was my fear also!

hello! It’s injection day for me. I’m taking 3.75mg from a 5mg pen so this will be the bonus dose week 5. I’m hoping the pen doesn’t break but my first pen broke so I have syringes on standby this time. Nervous about that.

Dose 9
SW 12st 10lb
Weight 11st 7.1lb
Loss 1.2lb
Total loss 17lb

17lbs is brilliant! So happy for you. Hope the bonus dose goes well!

Did the first 5mg jab last night. No side effects so far. Cannot imagine consuming anything apart from water.

Whattodowithaminute · 18/01/2025 09:15

Found the scales and a nice surprise, made it into the 70s and less than 1/2 lb from 2 stone loss! 2 Kg down since last weigh approx 9 days ago now, so despite house move which would have normally meant reach for quick fat calories have managed to make healthier choices and still lose-happy with that.

Feeling very happy this morning. 26lbs down since starting on 7 November. So almost two stone, with another two to go. It’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever done. In my early 50s and always been fairly slim until the last few years when my weight just spiralled out of control and I hit 14 stone in October, the most I’ve ever weighed. Was wearing size 18/20 and feeling thoroughly miserable. Still haven’t told a soul not even DH. I’ve done the 5:2 diet quite successfully in the past so just casually telling a few people I’m doing that. No-one has really commented on my weight loss yet tho, think it may take another stone for people to notice … unless they’re being polite!

I had a bit of a whoosh this week and dropped 4lbs. Shotsy is helping me keep that in perspective (and not get disappointed next week when it doesn't happen again!) because it shows my average weekly weight loss since starting and I do like a statistic.
So, I allowed myself a measured whoop rather than a full celebratory jig. And then the cat bit me (I forgave her immediately).

Mounjaropen · 18/01/2025 10:14

I’ve done my weigh-in for the week. 12st 1.8lb so a total loss for the week of….1.8lbs. I’ll take that tbh. I think around 2lbs a week or 1/2 stone per month is probably my level given the muscle building activity I’m doing and after Xmas excesses.

Got my spray tan on, newly blonded hair and looking forward to wearing my new cream-knit dress for a boozy lunch with old school friends πŸ₯³

Your losses are amazing! Congratulations! How are you doing against your target?

Thank you and to others - I'm trying to remind myself of that when I've not had a loss for a couple of weeks! πŸ˜‚

I have a very large starting point so I've a long, long way to go to my target (at least another 10 stone /12 stone) don't dare write down my starting number yet!

I felt a bit rubbish on the first 5mg, but was only for 48hours. Was only the first week though.

Well well well!

I am wearing a 40HH

I Knew my breasts had shrunk 🍈🍈 now πŸ’

I ordered panache bras from next from 40H , 40GG, 40 G

the back fits fine, however in the 40G it is very much gaping!

So about to order 40FF, 40F and 40 EE πŸ€ͺ

Ooh panache bra wearer here also! I was a 34K. I’m thinkingTry a smaller band?

My friend’s mum used to be a bra fitter and her mantra was up β€œgo up a cup, down a band size” when it doesn’t fit and vice versa. When I was fitted at Rigby and Peller many many years ago, I was amazing to find I was actually a 32 band not a 34. Wearing a tighter band immediately got rid of some fairly impressive shoulder dents.

I’m going to buy some new bras when I get to 11.5st and I think I’ll be a 32H by then.

@Goldleafcat just wanted to come back to you back to you re your aches and pains. Great you are taking supplements for the joints. Maybe add in an omega 3 for the joints also. When my foot arthritis was particularly achy in the past I added in a CBD capsule from Holland and barret. It really seemed to calm the pain and probably better than getting reliant on a traditional pain killer? Just an idea if you are still having the hip pain?

Thank you, I will definitely add in omega 3. I’m occasionally taking an ibuprofen in the night for when my knee / leg flares up and I agree it’s not ideal to take those regularly. Ah the joys of getting older!

PandasMum · 18/01/2025 11:36

I’ve ordered the new snag bras and I am in love - very stretchy & closer to a sports bra shape so I am hoping they’ll last through some loss.

@Mounjaropen thanks for being such a brilliant thread host! It is amazing how strong and vibrant the community is!

w6d1
sw:12s6.8
cw:11.2
gw:9.7 (I weigh first thing in the morning before I have eaten so it’d be 9.10 if I was at WW 😁).

So, end of W1 on my first 5 pen and 3.8lbs lost! Which is about as much as I had lost in all of the previous 2.5 pen (which did include a gain and re-loss over Christmas). So very happy!! Got the 10s in my sights!

And I did a personal training session and a dance class this week. Realised that my horrific unfitness and natural low blood pressure do mean I can’t miss breakfast before exercise. I did literally almost pass out, with dodgy vision. But all good because I am so excited about my loss this week, and my efforts not to lose all of my bum (which has shrunk much faster than my belly!!).

I too have been religiously doing my skincare, before never really bothered much, but I have seen such a difference in my skin and neck, I use M & S skincare and also a UV light facial massage wand and have noticed. Plus I have lost some flab off my face ….. I only have 2 chins now hahaha.

DarkForces · 18/01/2025 13:13

My aim is 8.5 stone that'll put me nicely in a healthy bmi. I've lost 2 stone but have another 4 to go before I'm there so trying to focus on interim milestones: I've got 6lb to go before my bmi is overweight, so aiming for that by end of Feb. Otherwise I get a bit overwhelmed with the task ahead

FlyingPT · 18/01/2025 13:15

About to start - probably Tuesday evening... this seems to be the most up to take Mounjaro thread - could I ask for top 3 tips before starting? I have a diet coach so I am sorted on the protein/exercise stuff, but the prepping before hand ? I read somewhere to take a 'bowel cleanse' (gulp) before... thoughts good mumsnetters?
