November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

I’ve done my weigh-in for the week. 12st 1.8lb so a total loss for the week of….1.8lbs. I’ll take that tbh. I think around 2lbs a week or 1/2 stone per month is probably my level given the muscle building activity I’m doing and after Xmas excesses.

Got my spray tan on, newly blonded hair and looking forward to wearing my new cream-knit dress for a boozy lunch with old school friends πŸ₯³

Oh well done, your doing really well.

Have a lovely day, looking all glamorous with your friends x

Mounjaropen · 18/01/2025 10:15

I felt a bit rubbish on the first 5mg, but was only for 48hours. Was only the first week though.

I was exactly the same, felt sick, burpy and windy day after my first 5mg….. woke next morning and back to normal and fine ever since.

BagQueenBee · 18/01/2025 13:33

MounjaroMolly · 18/01/2025 10:15

Thank you and to others - I'm trying to remind myself of that when I've not had a loss for a couple of weeks! πŸ˜‚

I have a very large starting point so I've a long, long way to go to my target (at least another 10 stone /12 stone) don't dare write down my starting number yet!

I totally understand I started at 28 stone 1 lb, it’s embarrassing to even write but you know what I am just getting on now and changing that so sod the shame.

I have a long way to go and can’t even think how I will look at even 10 stone…. I’m never going to be at the correct weight for my height 5ft 5in, I just don’t think with surplus skin it would happen, but I will be happy when I’m in size 12-14 clothes…… and the exciting thing is for the first time in my life…. I know it’s going to happen… Mounjaro is amazing.

Bilbette · 18/01/2025 13:44

This thread is lovely, so supportive

that’s all

Amelanchier · 18/01/2025 13:48

Mounjaropen · 18/01/2025 03:21

How are you doing against your target? Are you losing inches maybe?

Thanks for asking. It just so happens I had a great scale loss this morning of 2.4lb! I am using me360 for measurements and I have decided to do that monthly. I am a relatively slow loser of 1-2lb a week compared to some which I am OK with, without MJ I was averaging 0.5lb a week off, but the scale had appeared stuck for a bit!

KentishMama · 18/01/2025 14:39

Okay, I've braved the scales, and I've lost 700g over the last week. I'll take it, given that I was travelling etc.

WK11D2
Mounjaro SW 93.1 kg
CW 82.8 kg
BMI 27.3
GW 75 kg (maybe)

I'm going on holiday in 4 weeks' time, and would love to be under 80 kg by then. At my current speed, that's going to be tight.

OliviaFlaversham · 18/01/2025 14:56

Haven’t been on the thread in a while as took a sort of break over Christmas. I spaced out the 5mg doses (to every 10 days) and ate what I wanted before then going up to 7.5. I ate so much, including whole camemberts and bread/Indian meal out/pizza…and gained a pound which I had lost by the next day when I injected. I expected to put on about a stone so am v thankful I didn’t.

I am planning to stay on 7.5mg for another month.

Like @BagQueenBee and @MounjaroMolly looking at how much I still have to go creates a mountain I don’t have the esteem to climb so I focus on the next stone bracket down.

Still not getting massive suppression and it’s taking a lot of will power but I really feel the Mounjaro doing the heavy lifting.

Hi all, thank you @Mounjaropen for the 6th thread! I hope everyone is doing ok?

I was on my period last week so lost one pound then, felt horribly bloated and yuk, but have lost another two pounds this week. Total loss so far is 31 lbs.
SW: 19st 8lbs
CW: 17st 5lbs

Can’t wait to see β€œ16st something” on the scales soon. I’m really enjoying the gym so definitely keeping that up.

Taken my third 7.5mg jab, got one more 7.5mg jab next week but can’t decide on whether to stay at 7.5mg or move up 10mg. Will decide next week when I order. Apart from a mild headache after my jabs, I’m not suffering any other side effects.

Good luck everyone for your next weigh-in’s!

You're still losing though. That's progress! If I've learnt anything from this thread is that it happens at different rates for everyone and sometimes takes a while to get on the dose that works for each of us.

random223 · 18/01/2025 17:32

Well done to everyone on progress and/or perseverance this week. What a very supportive thread.

About to start - probably Tuesday evening... this seems to be the most up to take Mounjaro thread - could I ask for top 3 tips before starting? I have a diet coach so I am sorted on the protein/exercise stuff, but the prepping before hand ? I read somewhere to take a 'bowel cleanse' (gulp) before... thoughts good mumsnetters?

Never heard of doing something like this. I just started the injections on a day that suited me. No prep.

Agreed I did nothing special beforehand except weigh myself! @FlyingPT I would recommend stocking up on some potentially useful things if you don’t have them already -

  • nice water bottle to help with hydration
  • Something like psyllium husk and senokot - a few people struggle with diarrhoea or constipation (or both!)
  • protein rich foods
  • Decent scales
  • electrolyte tablets to help with hydration (maybe)
  • vitamins
  • peppermint tea / capsules to help with any tummy issues
  • consider apps to help you track your weight
  • if you want to maximise the dosage from your pens get some insulin syringes - you can normally squeeze an extra week out (there are videos online on how to do this)

I’m sure others on this thread can help with suggestions.

Good luck with your weight loss journey!!

IHateMozzies · 18/01/2025 20:00

Got an email from MedExpress today offering me 20% off my next order, presumably as it’s over 50 days since I ordered from them.

Only have till next week to use the discount, but not even ready to use my next pen in the fridge yet.

I’m going to end up with a stockpile if I use the discount and I don’t have much room in the fridge.

ShaunaSadeki · 18/01/2025 20:37

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen. I have been MIA this week as had nothing to report, but I have now lost the 3kg I put on on my unjabbed holiday so back to where I was mid December. I’m back on 5mg and it is wearing off on day 5 but I’m ok with that as I can’t afford to stay on this long term so need to remember what hunger and self restraint feel like for when the time comes 😱

I have managed plenty of walking and a jog in the week then park run today. I’ve done one home weights work out, a kettle bells class and tomorrow I have body pump and yoga booked. I am also having an alcohol free weekend as DH is away.

Hoping for a good drop on the scales this week coming now I am back on track.

Reading about everyone’s highs and lows is helpful in this journey.

Coffeeandcinnamonbun · 18/01/2025 21:21

Does anyone know if I can get my order delivered to work? MedExpress. Or is there a pharmacy that lets you choose the delivery day?

lovealongbath · 18/01/2025 21:24

I get mine from MedExpress and it is delivered from Royal Mail and they leave it in safe place, doesn’t need to be signed for

IHateMozzies · 18/01/2025 22:18

I think you can redirect a parcel with Royal Mail, but not sure if that will delay the order πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Oceangrey · 18/01/2025 22:34

I've just had my 3rd 7.5mg jab.
Good suppression, losing weight slowly by surely, no side effects unless I eat a bit too much.

So, stick on 7.5mg or go up for the next pen?

Ralala · 19/01/2025 06:07

Morning all. 12th injection for me yesterday. Still sticking at 3.75. Feeling sicky and abit off this morning but that’s normal. Managed a slice of toast. First couple of days I’m high suppression then by mid week it tapers off. Willpower by the end but I’m thinking about not buying another pen tbh. I have 2 doses left to take.

12kg down. 3 kg more and I’m delighted. Will take me within 5 kg of target and I think not having hit goal weight should give me a goal

I'm getting hungry on 5, but it's manageable hunger so I'm thinking of sticking. I don't too much suppression though as I need to learn to listen to my body and not overeat in the long term. If your suppression is good I'd stick.

Don't eat too much during Tuesday day and make sure you have good healthy protein rich foods in. Work out how many calories you need to lose weight at a rate you're comfortable with and track them.
Try and increase exercise to build muscle as you'll lose this along with fat.
If you have an electric blanket keep it to hand. I got so cold after my first jabs.
Be prepared for it not to work. 2.5 is a starter dose and there to prime your body for the higher ones. It depends how sensitive you are to the drug how much difference it makes so you may need to move up the doses to get suppression.

Prepare for the long haul
Honestly, I find constantly choosing the healthiest option a bit of a bore but mj means I no longer need to fight myself to lose weight. My body used to demand more calories and scream at me until it got them. Now it's still a slog, but a manageable one but it's still a long road.

I'd stick for another while it's working well and all is calm
