November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

How much have you lost @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo I'm a slow loser so I'm not smashing it out of the park like some on here but I can see the overall trajectory is good. Do you think you need to move up to 7.5mg? Is your satiety any different even if you don't feel suppressed?

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 05/02/2025 18:04

Losses we’re mostly in the first month to mid Dec , then bobbed a bit, lost a pound or two and been bobbing since Christmas really but last weigh (yesterday) was a 3 lb gain. It’s all just halted. Am a stone down overall but has felt like a long time since properly lost and not feeling the stone off much to honest as have so much to lose. has been so hard and chaotic at home, 2 emergency hospital admissions with my little ones (separate occasions and illnesses) and protracted illnesses that have been v hard to manage.

feeling low. Still hoping this will start working for me again as it did at the start. Yeah no suppression, eating has been haphazard, sometimes nothing (stress) sometimes loads (stress and emotional!)

Any ideas for a re-boot after a slump gratefully received , thank guys x

I went a bit overboard with food yesterday, nothing like going overboard before MJ though! I've got a horrible cold so I'm blaming that, interesting that it didn't cause any side effects, I had a ham and cheese croissant, plain croissant and a delicious biscotti delivered from cafe Nero which I ate while watching yellow jackets on the sofa. It was lovely and a definite pick me up but it was nice because it was a one off, whereas before that would have been fairly typical. I also had a nandos for tea but just a chicken burger (no sauce) and a thigh, again before MJ I would have had chips and garlic bread. So although I feel like I ate loads yesterday, it actually was better than I would typically eat before.

Blimey, that was quite the party wasn’t it? πŸ˜‚

I wouldn’t beat yourself up 1) you were unwell 2) you ate less than you would’ve before MJ 3) you know that it was not a balanced diet. Everyone has an off day and you have two triggers at play 1) illness so you wouldn’t necessarily have wanted to cook and 2) when you’re ill you want comfort food. As long as you didn’t repeat the order today and eat sensibly the rest of the week I reckon you’ll be fine.

Did you actually enjoy it all though?

Hope you feel better soon!

PS Love Yellowjackets!

Well done on the amazing weight loss milestones being smashed everyone! It's such an accomplishment and doesn't happen just because of the mounjaro... you are all working so hard to achieve these goals and making huge lifestyle changes to get there. If you think back to where we started in November... it's phenomenal.

I agree. This absolutely won’t work unless a lifestyle overhaul is in play. We’ll all have our off days moving forwards, but I’m determined to keep going πŸ’ͺ🏻

Heyo, catching up again!

I don’t want to bring a downer (as lots of you are doing so well!) but is anyone else on here struggling atm?

Last month or so has been really hard as a family due to ill health and am really struggling to get going again. 3 lb gain since my last weigh, am weighing v haphazardly now as I know I’m not losing. Have lost my mojo!

Have gone up to 5mg and still no suppression. Will jab another 5 next week and see how it goes.

Anyone else in a bit of a slump? x

This Thread is for everyone - those feeling fab and those not so much. Sorry to hear about the family, that’s tough and adds another level of complexity into eating and activity opportunities. We’re here to listen if you need to rant/chat/seek advice. πŸ’

Last week i lost bugger all which was mentally tough. Some weeks we will lose and some weeks weβ€˜ll gain. Try and keep the faith.

What activity can you realistically achieve? 10k steps? 5 K Steps? A gym class or swim for 2 hours this week? Start slow and steady and build from there. Diet-wise, can you meal plan? Prep food/veggie snacks and keep them in the fridge to save you going for crisps/biscuits.

You’ve got this πŸ’ͺ🏻

What dose are you on at the moment? Would going up on your next pen kick start things a bit, especially with the suppression?
Pollyannaing a bit... You've lost a stone. Woop! That's a stone you aren't carrying around that you were before you started and that should be celebrated. And you've been dealing with proper grown up shit like poorly kids. Of course you have been less focused on losing weight when you've had all of that going on. Be kind to yourself.
Practically what might help? A focused food shop with lots of easy but effective foods in?

Goldleafcat · 05/02/2025 19:14

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo I have most definitely plateaued! Keep bobbing about between 14 st 11 lbs and 14 13lbs at the moment. I am frustrated. Especially when seeing quite spectacular losses elsewhere. I’m trying to give myself a stern talking to. I’m not doing anywhere near as well as many others, but my body has been on a weird weight gaining mission the last 12-18 months (peri menopause?) and this year has been pretty full on and stressful so far, and when I look back to previous years I’m normally piling the pounds on at this time of year too!

I have a 7.5 pen to use, and have ordered my follow on pen at 10mg (eek!) for the next one. Need the big guns! πŸ˜†

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 05/02/2025 19:25

Honestly my motivation to do anything is an all time low, barely leaving the house atm except for school drops/ pick ups. All the stress/ worry /exhaustion has been intense and I think triggered depression symptoms (which has been a longterm battle anyway). Just read another thread with others struggling depression symptoms on MJ, as it is a listed side effect, but like most of those posters I also want to stay on it and keep going with MJ if it helps me reach a healthy weight.

I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong to be getting no effects, 3.75 did the job for a while in December/ Jan but quickly dropped off to 0 suppression and lots of food noise (I think accelerated by all the stress and turmoil) then moving up to 5 I hoped would β€˜boost’ me back into suppression and respite from food noise, but nope - no suppression and constant food noise. Don’t know how to get back to it working again, I’ve only done 3 days on 5mg so seems too soon to be switching up to 7.5 next week?

Thanks PinkArt I’m on 5mg, jabbed Mon evening so am thinking this is too soon to step up to 7.5 next week?

Have been eating nonsense and craving all kinds of junk (crazy pms atm is not helping matters either, moodwise and foodwise!)
I had hoped the 5 would kick start suppression but no and the food noise is honestly kicking my butt right now, my weak willed knackered mama butt πŸ™ˆ

Thank you I will try to be kind to myself, need to think of ways I can do this outside of food (relationship with it is so darn messed up)

Food shopping has also been haphazard so yeah perhaps doing a small but focused shop would be good, get some old favourites in like a steak or roast chicken, baked spuds and asparagus.

I also need to clear out lingering junk packets of crisps, biscuits…the chocolate hasn’t been staying long enough to linger oh dear!

DarkForces · 05/02/2025 19:48

Sorry to hear you're struggling @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo. I'd give it 4 weeks on 5mg so it has a chance to build in your system then move up to 7.5 after this if you need to. Moving up too quickly might shock it. Apologies if I've misunderstood your predicament though. My head is fried today (shit day not mj related)

Yeah same here with peri, so frustrating when your body is on a mission to do the exact opposite of what you need/ want!!

Thank you I am wondering if I need the big guns too!

Maybe lingered too long on the lower doses and my bod has fully acclimatised and needs the bigger dose in order to be effective again.

As it was effective at the start and at various points since then am hopeful a dose adjustment will get me there and losing again!

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo
I find that hormones & lack of sleep are stronger than the MJ for me - I have the both this week & as a result am failing to keep to my calories. This is why I only lose 3 weeks in 4 but I figure 3 is better than zero πŸ˜ƒ

Thanks Mounjaropen exercise wise is pants atm, am hoping once my ruddy period shows up and emotions/ tiredness have settled a bit to get something in, I love swimming but haven’t had a chance to go for several weeks now

Thank you so much DarkForces and sorry you’ve had a shit day too πŸ’ I hope tomorrow is a better one, for you and all of us having a tricky time (both MJ and non-MJ related)

Yeah I think I probably do need to stick with 5 for a while so is not a shock to the system. Hopefully it will build up in my system over Feb and some suppression will get creep bk

Absolutely the 3 is very definitely better than zero! Yeah I’ve got hormone health stuff going on too, Hashimoto’s (hypothyroidism) which doesn’t help, that and peri and the usual monthly pms etc ugh. Am on a higher dose of thyroid meds now though which has been better, need to try and remember vitamin D as can hit hard energy wise when it gets too low.

i’m sorry you have been having a rough time lately. Trying to make life changes when things are stacking against can be a positive and it can be another thing to beat yourself with. Be so very kind to yourself, that you are still going IS really positive. In terms of the impact, hopefully your 7.5 pen will help. You have had really small increments so far, less than is normally prescribed so hopefully that is why the losses have slowed.

I really hope you get that woosh, but my advice would be make sure you have some little healthy snacks (at least if you don’t eat breakfast). I find my blood sugar sinks through the floor and makes me feel a bit low, as well as totally lacking in energy. Those slow release carbs might be a small benefit as a mood balancer.

Wherever you are at, keep sharing here. Sending you whoosh vibes.

phyllidafosset · 05/02/2025 20:39

My small win yesterday was that someone asked me if I had lost weight (first β€˜notice’). They asked how and I just blurted the truth. It isn’t anything to be ashamed of, but it still feels a bit like it should be a secret!?! However I am crap at lying.

It was nice someone noticed 😊 I also got back into what was my favourite jacket. It still doesn’t do up, but it looks like it might 😁

My suppression on the strongest days is huge, and I get slightly faint/dizzy from low blood sugar, I think. Then it is way less at the end of the week (and last week I gained 1lb of what I had lost). It would be easier if it wasn’t such extremes. But I’m staying with 5mg for the next month. I’m anticipating a slow loss month but hopefully I’m get to 2 stone lost 🀞🀞🀞 (trying to tell myself not to be too impatient).

Whattodowithaminute · 05/02/2025 20:46

Sorry to hear about difficult times and slower losses for some.
i would support what others have recommended-few days trying to meal plan-breakfast lunch and dinner with a snack so you’re full of the better stuff, see if you can wean yourself off of easy reach sugary options, make sure you’re getting enough protein to fill you up, brush teeth if you feel a sugar craving.
is it worth a few days of calorie counting? See if you can fit in any exercise, more than yesterday is good enough. Slow and steady is still going the right way…

MounjNewb · 05/02/2025 20:49

There was a question a few weeks back about donating blood. I went tonight and no drama at all - a couple of extra questions with the Session Sister and good to go. Weird that I am OK with the main needle going in my arm, and jabbing myself with MJ weekly now, but that little finger prick test for iron levels really gives me the heeby jeebies…..

Looked at the bag of my precious red stuff at the end and instantly thought β€˜there’s got to be a lb in there - going home to weigh myself’ - what a dipsh!tβ€¦β€¦πŸ˜‚

Well it sounds like you've done some good decluttering of the chocolate at least!
I would get some good and really easy food in. Berries and yoghurt, pre cooked chicken, cheese you can cube, carrot sticks, east peelers etc so you've got mega low effort but good fuel to hand.
It sounds like life is kicking your ass a bit at the moment, so ease the road a bit until things feel easier.

SW 91.4
CW 75.6
GW 70kg-although I’m just realising that whilst this is the lowest I’ve been for a very long time it’s still upper end of healthy from
BMI perspective so contemplating reducing to 68kg.
Im going to take 7.5 from my 5mg pen again today, it has helped this week and I think I’m ready for it-10 days to holiday….
