November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

Thanks very much to whoever recommended this video

Gone around to watching it and it was brilliant. So informative on the conclusions of the various studies and how the medication impacts on different areas of the body. It does sound like a wonderful drug in many respects.

The importance of resistance exercise stood out. I'm doing none so this should be the incentive I need to change that.

I did study some of this kind of thing so understand the basic cell biology but it's been a long time so I'd be very interested to hear from anyone more informed what they think of it. Any biologists/biochemists/doctors out there?

Thanks for the new thread!
I've not posted for a while but still here lurking most of the time! Great to keep reading all your stories from those around the same start time.

Personally, I've had a couple of tricky weeks on MJ. Managed to not put on over Christmas (had stayed on 2.5 to enjoy it!) but since then and since I've started by 5mg I've not lost anything. Keep yo-yoing up and down the same 4lbs which im finding really tough after loosing so much so quickly! (62lbs in 9 weeks!!!)

Sticking with it though - upped my exercise and tracking my calories. Will keep on reading all your wins to keep me going! πŸ˜‚

Cantbesure · 17/01/2025 22:42

62lbs @MounjaroMolly?? That's incredible!!!

Amelanchier · 17/01/2025 22:56

I have plateaued around pre Xmas weight the last week or so. So I am trying to drink more water and I may have to properly start calorie counting. I am not snacking but I need to put more effort in. Week 9 still on 5mg. Feeling tired and impatient to see more results.

Hellolife · 17/01/2025 23:20

Well done everyone so far on your journey. Looking at Shemed 1 year offer which looks great but I am out of the country for 3 months April, may and June, so won't be here to use those deliveries straight away (someone is at home to take delivery) anyone had similar and managed to plan around it as I know you rightly so can't have 'upfront' prescriptions but don't want to miss the opportunity of what seems like a great offer

Arglefraster · 18/01/2025 01:11

@PinkArt thanks
Plaster reactions taking the piss made me laugh it's so true! My kids seem to avoided most of my crazy skin but they are all allergic to plasters πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I've spent a decade carrying micropore & gauze everywhere 🀣 and fending off nurses with plasters after baby jags. The Hydrocolloid ones are ok for all of us though so might be worth trying.

Yeah wool is the devil's own fabric far worse than all the synthetic stuff - cotton, linen & silk are my only safe fabrics. I take sheets with me on holiday etc etc

I'm really not keen to go back to 2.5, to get the dose I'm taking I would only be able to get 3 per pen so money & supply likely to become a problem & I'm still titrating up.
Very hopeful as it's not a normal skin thing it will go away as people describe. So far at least it is as bad this week as it was last week but not worse & I can cope if it doesn't get worse. Luckily DH is used to me smelling of Eurax 🀣

Your losses are amazing! Congratulations! How are you doing against your target?

I haven’t seen the offer, is there a link you can share?

There are β€œShemed” threads that might be helpful for you to read.
I believe you have to be a Mounjaro virgin to be approved. Agree to video calls for them to witness weekly injection . You need regular bloods taken. You sign up for a year and get it cheaper but in return you are part of their research programme.

It is not for me as I like an element of control, and I am not sure if you get that with Shemed.

Dreamqueen · 18/01/2025 04:18

@Mounjaropen thank you. Will up the protein and up the water. The only good thing at the moment is that alcohol consumption has dramatically dropped.

PandasMum · 18/01/2025 06:39

This week I had a lot of snacking & regret & was trying to not let myself become too negative about myself given this is a long haul journey. However I’ve just weighed in at 11 weeks and have lost another 3lbs! This takes my total in 11 weeks to 38lbs! BMI is now down from 43 to 37. I’m about half way to my goal of not being obese. Really happy πŸ˜ƒ

Think it’s Β£100 a month for a year but you have to be part of their research study so fill in surveys have video calls etc - it’s more like market rate for the drugs if you don’t want to do the research part

LindtCurves · 18/01/2025 07:20

Buttons0522 · 17/01/2025 10:46

Thank you! I’ve lost around 13kg - I had just hit 30 BMI so just qualified but it’s been a life changer. I feel so much better for it.

Do you look very slim to yourself?

I’ve lost about 10kg and am only a size 12 now but I can really see my body shape changing, I used to have hourglass curves with a peachy bum, almost like a chubby JLo, and now I’m certainly looking more β€˜straight up and down’ - I do actually miss my old body a bit!

However it is nice sitting on a gym machine and looking down seeing almost no belly fat where previously there was a protruding stomach!

Also stairs etc feels so much easier.

DarkForces · 18/01/2025 07:45

Very happy this morning. After losing a measly 0.8lb last week I've knocked off 3lb this week and am now 12 stone 6.2lb. BMI 30.9. Merely being overweight is in sight.

Mounjaro is honestly the best investment I've ever made in me. I may be covered in bruises and itch where I inject (I'm allergic to the world and bruise like a peach) but I'm feeling so much better about myself. I'm eating well, I'm really productive in work and am just happier generally. I have failed on exercise this week as I've been working so hard I've been exhausted but meeting a friend for a walk today.

So nice to have a positive and supportive thread too. 2025 is going to be the year for us!

N27 · 18/01/2025 07:53

Checking in on the new thread! I’m still lurking in the background but been going up and down the same 2lb for weeks so feeling grumpy this month

Goldleafcat · 18/01/2025 08:15

Thanks @Cantbesure @Babymamamama It does sound like arthritis then. Bummer that not much can be done but agree weight loss can only help! Thanks @Mounjaropen that is a good suggestion. I need to actually start doing exercise in general - my core is an absolute ruin (not helped by an abdominal myomectomy followed by a C section 16 months later πŸ˜‚) and I need to strengthen that too!

Buttons0522 · 18/01/2025 08:16

My shape has definitely changed, I dared to look at my starting photos and you can see it profoundly on the side profile, I’ve lost loads off my bum! I’m also particularly happy about the loss of my squidgy knees - hated these for as long as I can remember and it’s usually been stubborn fat when dieting etc. but it was the first to go with mounjaro!

Well done! Yes, I’ve got those knees also, and I look forward to them going! I stood in front of the mirror without tensing my abs just now and… My waist is so much smaller! I almost have no belly when I tense them… So maybe that’s worth giving the round bum up for…

Still a lot of jiggling between belly button and knees though!

So new wardrobe due?

Any changes to your appearance other than body weight? I’m a bit worried about wrinkles now that I’ll have less fat to plump my face up.

Coffeeandcinnamonbun · 18/01/2025 08:50

hello! It’s injection day for me. I’m taking 3.75mg from a 5mg pen so this will be the bonus dose week 5. I’m hoping the pen doesn’t break but my first pen broke so I have syringes on standby this time. Nervous about that.

Dose 9
SW 12st 10lb
Weight 11st 7.1lb
Loss 1.2lb
Total loss 17lb
