November β€˜24 starters thread 6 - The one where it’s still January but we keep losing πŸ’ͺ🏻

Mounjaropen · 17/01/2025 08:33

Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

@PinkArt the short answer is my skin reacts to everything! The sun, sun screen πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ (when I find one it doesn't react to I never get more than 2 years use before it becomes reactive), most creams, all of the fancy lotions & potions that might stave off the wrinkles, insect bites, any synthetic fibres etc etc

I've never had a skin reaction to an injection so never worried about it but I suppose I've only had vaccines & those are deeper (obviously if they manage to get a plaster on me before I fight them off then I get a huge welt 🀣 but the actual jags have never caused a problem)

I'm going to be on this for a very long time so I'm desperately hoping the reaction eases as people say rather than getting far worse which is the usual progression for my skin reactions.

I think it was the switch from 2.5 to 5 that's done it so I do worry about an increased reaction if/when I increase concentration again.

I hope your skin stays calm it really is annoying!

Amazing, another thread and thanks Mounjaropen again. I've to use my 5mg pen to get about 6 or 6.5mg - I figure I do the normal full dose then wipe, change needles and inject 15 clicks or so into the other leg? Can't quite decide if that's right and have tried googling πŸ€”

(Apologies if I've posted this twice I can't work out how the app ate the last post...)

6.5/5 x 60 =78 clicks so one dose plus 18 clicks

Or
6.5/5 x 0.6 =0.78 mls with a syringe

Arglefraster · 17/01/2025 16:37

All the water chat has made me realise that the more weight I am able to lose the less water I will need & therefore I will be able to go for 4 hour walks without planning toilet breaks or dehydration πŸŽ‰

Ah thanks so much and think that's my fault as I posted on the old thread just before it closed. So good to hear it from another user ( sounds dodgy!) that I'd calculated correctly as I've only ever done regular doses

Love this idea as I pee a LOT and isn't easy as a teacher cos can't leave class so def don't drink enough some days. Yet another good reason for us all weighing less

Ah shit, I really hope you find a solution that works for the jabs. Mine doesn't sound as bad as yours but if it can react to something it will. I've reacted to plasters too - that one always feels like it's just taking the piss! I have the opposite with materials though - synthetic is fine so long as it's washed in non bio but wool makes me want to rip my own arms off.
I realised my reaction to bites was really bad when I googled 'what does an insect bite allergy look like' and all of the 'this is a bad reaction' photos were of bites several cm smaller than mine.
Is it worth trying dropping back to 2.5? Might be less effective on a weekly basis but could mean you can stick it out for longer.

So happy for you! Keep going with the fitness. I watched a really inspiring reel yesterday on FB of a lady who spent 2years documenting her static bike cycling and her subsequent weight loss. Was tremendous πŸ’ͺ

Thank you I will do …..exercise has just never appealed to me, always enjoyed walking but due to knee pain haven’t been able to walk much. Now I am loving getting out walking, without any pain.

We are all in this group helping and supporting each other on good and bad weeks, and it’s great to share it with like minded people who don’t judge and understand…..thank you x

Morning all. Reporting for duty. It’s nice to read about everyone’s progress, and I guess these stalling blips are to be expected every so often. Sometimes they are inexplicable. I have not managed to transition over to OUSHK. Found it difficult to get a response and then I was offered 2.5 mg like I’m a new starter….So I’m still with the costly Asda Pharmacy and I fear now I’m just at top of healthy BMI range my options to make a switch of provider may be ever more limited.
I found that panorama doc the other night super interesting. I used to have a bit of joint arthritis in my foot but that’s completely resolved for now. I’m wondering if my losing two stone is the factor or whether there’s less inflammation in my body now I’m not overeating all the wrong foods. Who knoes?
Still super scared of coming off MJ the fear of relapse is uppermost for me…eek!

I’m still with costly Boots. I have a long way to go to get to ideal BMI but have had so much on the thought if changing providers seems overwhelming!

Please could I ask a random question about your arthritis? I seem to have knee pain during the night (not during the day) which
is worse whilst I lay on my side but eases when I lay on my back. A friend suggested it might be arthritis and after a few googles it seems this tallies with symptoms. Does this sound similar? Think I need to make a GP appointment. I’ve started taking collagen supplements and also Boots Glucosamine & Chondroitin. Suspect my years of being very heavy have had an impact.

Whattodowithaminute · 17/01/2025 18:57

Thanks for new thread, we’ve had a busy week with house move and out of normal eating routine, eat takeaways x 3 nights but tried to make better choices-grilled chicken and salad/veg…
will check in properly with progress once I’ve unpacked the scales…

great progress from so many, and to those finding it harder remember marathon not a sprint and keep it up!

jaromoun · 17/01/2025 18:58

i'm pissed off! weight totally stagnant around 79 kg.

SW 89kg
GW 70 kg

week 11

i'm on 5mg but did a cheeky top up to 7.5mg this week with the remnants of the last pen. next pen is 5mg as the side effects including actual hideous vomiting were too much when i started that dose.

hardly any suppression, having to work HARD not to eat all the food.

my BMI is overweight rather than obese which is good and i can fit into some of my nice clothes but if i don't start moving down over again soon il going to have a tantrum!

jaromoun · 17/01/2025 19:06

i also want to do a little shout out to @Mounjaropen for keeping the threads going and trying to reply to as many people as she can.

thanks for your service πŸ™‚

Cantbesure · 17/01/2025 19:43

I have osteoarthritis in my knee @Goldleafcat (probably both but my right one is the worst). I don't get pain, maybe sometimes some discomfort but my knee creaks, particularly whilst walking downstairs. I saw the GP who advised there was nothing to do currently. Losing weight would help though. I think I probably have it in my hip and shoulder blades too.

Cantbesure · 17/01/2025 19:45

@jaromoun could you go up gradually? Maybe start with 6 if 5 isn't doing the job? I didn't go straight to 5 this time because of Xmas and fear of side effects. So I don't know whether to do 5 or 7.5mg and then have the flexibility next. Just obvs 5 is cheaper.

Yes your joint pain does sound super similar to mine. Maybe get checked over by the GP? But the weight loss has got to help right? Less pressure all round. 😊

it's a bit of a clart on with the injections and i did 7.5mg this week and still bugger all. maybe i need be more patient! as a nurse i am the worst patient ever!

namechangedyetagain · 17/01/2025 19:59

Thank you for the new thread @Mounjaropen .

Still recovering from whatever was going on yesterday. Have managed 1 piece of toast today and trying to drink sporty drinks to top up sugars and salts. Not my best day. Actually realised I've barely eaten for most of the week so I guess the bug had been lurking since Monday.

Hopefully if nothing else the scales would have moved slightly on Sunday.

Cantbesure · 17/01/2025 20:29

I counted clicks with my 5 pen. Although in hindsight I should probably have just moved up @jaromoun I think I'd convinced myself I was going to be of the people that would do great staying at 2.5. Given I've lost no weight in a month, that clearly isn't the case πŸ˜‚

Great news about the inflammation! I’m also significantly less achy πŸ₯°

Thank you @Mounjaropen for new thread.

I'm also one of the ones who's slightly lost their way this past couple of weeks. Did a 7.5 dose on Monday and have felt so hungry since then. I'm out of the country for the next few weeks and have only brought enough MJ for a 5 weekly dose. Did the 7.5 one to give me a boost at the beginning of holiday eating but it seems to have backfired.

I think, if you up your protein intake, you should be okay?

Gosh, us November starters are a chatty bunch aren’t we? Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen

so … W12 D7 check in (jab due tonight!)

SW:108.9kg
CW: 91.75kg
Loss on MJ: 17.15kg
GW: 68kg (I’m 172cm tall - 5” 7.75!)

Current dose: 5mg

I’ve lost 8” off my waist as of measuring last week.

I’ve been 100% consistent with my hydration since I started my weight loss mission on 30th September (4 weeks before starting MJ). I found a research article that stated that we need 35ml of water for every kilo of body weight for our bodies to have enough water to be at its most efficient, so I’ve been drinking that as a minimum every day since. I’ve also completely stopped drinking my previous must have : Diet Coke, which I think is down to MJ too!

I’ve been gradually increasing my step goal too and I’m finally back at my weightlifting gym as of last week (used to be a CrossFitter but I’m not ready for that yet!). I’d forgotten how much I loved throwing around a heavy barbell! Lol

I unpacked some clothes that had got too small thinking I’d be able to get into them now and half off them are actually already too baggy! No scale victories AND scale victories cheering up my January blues!

I’m feeling good - hope it’s going well for everyone else too!

Edited

Woo hoo! 8 inches is fabulous! Interesting about the water, thanks for sharing

Have you seen a physiotherapist? When I had knee pain, a physio gave me some exercises to build the muscles supporting the knee which did work - worth a try?

@jaromoun nothing worse than staying the same, I've not had the same suppression since 2.5 I feel I'm wasting my money, I've got another 3 weeks left with 7.5 pen and think I maybe try and get another pen of 10mg see how that is but I'm always trying hard not to eat everything so it's a waste of my money
