Getting so bored now. Take a look at these pics - am I slim enough to start tapering off MJ?

Of course I know it's not down to Mumsnet what I do but I can't decide whether I am now at target! It's always been a somewhat moving target and I never look super slim anyway because I'm quite short!

Started at a lb under 15 stone. So 15 stone then! I'm now about 9 stone 9 to 9 stone 11 depending on the day!

BMI was 36 and is now 23.7

I just don't know whether to stop now and start maintenance or push for another half a stone

I've not lost huge amounts in recent months - down to about 4 lbs a month loss now, if that

Anyway - thoughts please? I've gone from a size 16 to a 10 and feel pretty good but need to decide what to do

I think you look great and based on the pictures I think you look slim...great legs!!
I lurk on a few threads (no idea why I don't post tbh) but I starterd at a similar weight 15.5 st and currently at 9st 6lbs. I totally get the boredom and wanted to move on...could you maintain at your current weight for a while and see how you feel in a few weeks/months. It's really hard to know when to stop and it's possible to always think to keep pushing for another half a stone when already in a healthy BMI and I can see how it can develop into unhealthy behaviours. My GW was always 9st but I catch myself thinking maybe I should try for 8.5st or 8, when really i need to go to the gym and build up the muscle I've lost.

Onceachunkymonkey · 12/01/2025 19:26

Yes I would say so, and time to focus on building muscle now op.

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 19:45

@Keepthepeace82 you've done so well. You must feel amazing, well done

I do wish there was a more definitive maintenance plan because I know exactly what's going to happen here! People will reach their target, think they've cracked it and discover they haven't at all

@Onceachunkymonkey ha yes well spotted. I've lost a lot of muscle mass it is true

I've saved lots of easy beginner weights programmes to the iPad and I'm going to start tomorrow

Sh sorry, I should have said, I remember your other thread, where you posted images and asked about it, hence my comment, not what you look like in the dress.

muscle loss will shorten your life, don’t underestimate its impact. So turn your attention now to that.

unsync · 12/01/2025 20:08

When you say you've lost muscle mass, have you been exercising and still losing mass or not having the right foods? Just wanting to know as its something I'm concerned about.

I also think a lb a week is perfectly acceptable, not slow, but sensible.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 12/01/2025 20:08

You look great. A size 10 is my target, I'm currently 11 stone 9lbs 5ft 3". I've heard some still lose some weight when they're on maintenance. Yeh I'd agree with the others about building muscle and strength now and that will help tone you up.

DreamTheMoors · 12/01/2025 20:10

Oh my gosh you look absolutely fabulous!!!

I’m glad you posted this because I’ve been wondering if people on the jabs had to stay on them.
Or if you go off them, will you gain back any weight? And if you do gain back any weight do you have to go back on the jabs?

But you look mahvalous dahling!

confusingbenefits · 12/01/2025 20:11

Can I ask how tall you are ?

LazJaz · 12/01/2025 20:13

You look great! well done OP!

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:17

@DreamTheMoors yes you can expect weight rebound but how much is dependant on a few factors - not just how well you eat

Some people mistakenly think that all MJ does is suppress your appetite but that's not true - the suppression is just a side effect. MJ works on your glucose and how you process foods along with other things. I couldn't shift a lb on 1400 calories a day 9 months ago - I eat 1400 calories a day now and have lost over 5 stone - this is down to the effect MJ has on my body's processes

NewLifter · 12/01/2025 20:20

You look great!

What do you mean you're bored, though? As I'm sure you know, watching what you eat needs to be permanent unfortunately 😕

Olika · 12/01/2025 20:20

I wouldn't want to loose more as you are slim by now. I would concentrate on exercising and building muscle.

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:21

@unsync protein is tricky for me as I'm vegan. A pretty bad vegan as I've had to add in some cheese and Greek yogurt Grin but without those I'd be struggling even more! I average 50-60 g of protein a day

I was exercising a lot but only spin classes and swimming. I then got busy with other work so let that slide but regardless, I've come to realise that it's not cardio I need, it's to pick up some weights so I've been looking into this and have identified a couple of people I like online with easy to follow beginner programmes

Unless you are hammering your protein goals and lifting weights etc then you can expect some loss of muscle - especially if you're ancient like i am

@confusingbenefits I'm 5 foot 3 and a bit so quite short. The top end of normal for me is about 10 stone 5 so I'm only 9 lbs or so under that

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:24

@NewLifter oh for sure - I'm an old hand Grin

It's not the food. It's not even the MJ. I think it's a combination of I'm bored of just thinking about weight now and the fact there is no definitive maintenance plan. Literally no one knows

I'm going to switch to Oushk as Medexpress will cut me off next month if I'm truthful about my weight - which i will be

You look amazing. I’m about the same height as you and have been really struggling to lose weight, my bmi is 29.4. How’ve you found injecting? Have you had any other side effects?

I thought you looked similar to me at the same bmi when I was slim a long time ago. I’m not that anymore (5’3 and 16 stone 😭) Did you have many side effects I’m desperate to start but nervous.

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:35

@Justwanttocomment have you started MJ or just thinking about it? You'll need to be BMI of 30 to begin but it sounds like you're very much in the ball park

Injecting fine - you can't feel it as it's just subcutaneous. Started out doing it all concentrating etc and now I just whack it in as I potter in the kitchen and it takes 30 seconds from removing it from the fridge to putting it back!

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:38

@confusingbenefits well, a few years ago I tried Ozempic. One jab, three up for days and never ever again.

So I was VERY hesitant to try MJ. Was absolutely resolute in my belief that I'd be unwell - to the point where I cleared a few days in the diary, jabbed, and lay down in bed with some water, waiting to be sick Grin

Absolutely nothing happened and I can't recall a side effect that don't think? I'm currently on 7.5. I've maybe had an upset stomach a few times, and I'm a little more tired on 7.5 but that's it. Nothing of note at all.

Honestly, just go for it. Don't waste any more time thinking about it if it's what you want to do. You'll be slim for summer ...

Congrats OP! You look amazing. Such good progress.
i started at 16stone and am now 13stone 4lb. I’m bored but a lot more to lose to get close to healthy BMI.
i think start thinking about long term plan (maintenance dose? Meal plan/exercise routine?). I think I’ve accepted I will have to be conscious about my weight forever now.

Justwanttocomment · 12/01/2025 20:40

Just thinking about trying it. Slightly under the BMI but have borderline cholesterol and family history or heart disease. I know my partner would be disappointed in me, he all about exercising and healthy eating. My diet isn’t terrible, I probably have a few more snacks than I should but nothing horrendous. Already don’t drink alcohol and have tried exercising and calorie counting soooo many times

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:41

@MoralHighGroundGrandWizard ooh well done! You're almost on the home stretch now - I whizzed through the 12s!

I'm also accepting this. I'm having to accept that I think I may always need a little dose here and there of MJ which I really didn't want but past experience dictates exactly what will happen once I come off it.

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:43

Well, that's nice for your partner and brilliant that just diet and exercise work for him. It's not working for you so you get to choose I suppose and he will have to practice his disappointed face away from you Grin

My husband is a professional golfer so you can just imagine how fit he is! I just shit down any judgement from him and he soon learned not to bother
