Getting so bored now. Take a look at these pics - am I slim enough to start tapering off MJ?

Of course I know it's not down to Mumsnet what I do but I can't decide whether I am now at target! It's always been a somewhat moving target and I never look super slim anyway because I'm quite short!

Started at a lb under 15 stone. So 15 stone then! I'm now about 9 stone 9 to 9 stone 11 depending on the day!

BMI was 36 and is now 23.7

I just don't know whether to stop now and start maintenance or push for another half a stone

I've not lost huge amounts in recent months - down to about 4 lbs a month loss now, if that

Anyway - thoughts please? I've gone from a size 16 to a 10 and feel pretty good but need to decide what to do

I'm your height, if it helps to know where others are at. The weight I'm happiest at is 8 and a half stone. My personal goal is never to go over 9 stone.

I think you look great though! Definitely wouldn't have said you needed to lose weight.

MoralHighGroundGrandWizard · 12/01/2025 20:44

@FerretChops thanks! I’m hopefully I can see some progress again soon I’ve been a bit static over Christmas (understandably really I’ve been out of routine!)
let me know what you decide to do for maintenance- I think Voy supports maintenance too.
would you do week on week off or just low dose?

Itsalwaysfools · 12/01/2025 20:45

Red outfit - lose a bit more.
Purple dress - you look spot on.

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:45

@LionRumpus I think I'd expire with the effort of having to go to 8 and a half stone and I genuinely fear for more muscle loss!

I could get in board with 9 stone though and often wonder if about 9 stone 5 is where I should aim for over time

MoralHighGroundGrandWizard · 12/01/2025 20:46

How long have you been on MJ?

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:46

@Itsalwaysfools ooh for sure - red top photo I was 15 stone. Eek!

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:48

@MoralHighGroundGrandWizard started at the end of April and I've been about this weight since end of October, give or take 4 lbs . I lose a few lbs a month now but no more than that

To get things moving again significantly, I need to actually start some weights instead of talking about them, increase my water and eat a little more protein

museumum · 12/01/2025 20:48

@FerretChops - are you serious about having an 11lb daily fluctuation in your weight? That seems loads, do you suffer bloating badly, is that a MJ thing? My weight can fluctuate by around 4lbs daily but 11 seems so much! How can the same trousers fit every day?

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:49

@MoralHighGroundGrandWizard I'll have a look at Voy too! I think I want the flexibility to just order a pen when I want to. Just so wish there was a clear path

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:50

@museumum I fluctuate by a lb or two a week! Not 11 lbs! Sorry if that's not clear

Never had any bloating in my life

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:51

@museumum so to be clearer, this morning I was 9 stone 9. Tomorrow I might be 9 stone 10 and then, next week, I could be 9 stone 8. This will then be 9 stone 9 for a few weeks, maybe 9 stone 11 and then I'll drop again

OP posts:
museumum · 12/01/2025 20:56

Ah ok. I misread it as 9 stone to 9 stone 11. Sorry.

Puffalicious · 12/01/2025 21:00

I think you look amazing. I lost 2.5 stone 3 years ago , with menopause I've put it all back on. I'm so downtrodden. I'm doing MFP & excersing, but get so disillusioned when the loss stalls & it takes so long to lose even a few lbs.

I'd like to try MJ, but I'm so nervous about the unknown effects on my body, and the whole never being able to cone off it.

Even reading the starting MJ threads I'm rather confused by it all: I don't know the jargon or where to start.

Itsalwaysfools · 12/01/2025 21:02

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 20:46

@Itsalwaysfools ooh for sure - red top photo I was 15 stone. Eek!

Ah, OK! I didn't realise that. Sorry. My mistake. I thought they were both recent pics.

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 21:06

@Puffalicious honestly, give it a go! It's a very well tested drug that's decades old in the states. It IS nerve wracking to begin with and then you just become an old hand before you know it.

The bigger risk probably comes from remaining obese - that's what I reasoned with myself. I couldn't go on being 15 stone

You look amazing! Absolute goals!
Ive ordered my first MJ pen arriving tomorrow, nervous & excited as last year I tried Ozempic and had d&v on week 3 for 48 hours it was awful so Im quite anxious about MJ.

Can I ask, do you have energy when you are on MJ? Just because Ive signed up for this womens only studio with 3x classes a week but high intensity classes and Im thinking if I dont each much, will I have any energy to do the classes!

Also sorry for all the questions, did you start on 2.5 or 5mg with MJ?

Thank you ❤️

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 21:07

@Itsalwaysfools Grin yes it's a before and after photo

I hear you. I can't go on being at the tail end of 13 stone. I need to lose a stone before I'm even out of the obese category.

What did you start on? How did you decide which provider etc?

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 21:12

@DJL19 oh good luck! You'll smash it

I was so hideously sick on Ozempic that I was super nervous about MJ but not a thing.'no side effects of note

Everyone starts on 2.5 and I lost 4 stone staying on this dose before going up to 5 so if you're lucky sing weight then no need to increase up

I also had loads of energy! Was spinning and walking every day. 7.5? Err less energy. Feel a bit tired so I'm going to book in some blood tests soon

Bogginsthe3rd · 12/01/2025 21:15

Looks like you have lost a good deal of muscle mass. Need to do some weights and make sure you actually start eating more now !

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 12/01/2025 21:15

My plan is to finish up a bit under my goal weight so I have a bit of room to bounce back. My target is BMI 21 but I'll obviously have to see how I look when I'm getting close. I figure this drug is so incredibly effective, why not go the whole hog and aim for the figure I really want rather than settling for 'that'll do'?

I don't want to critique your photo but I would keep going awhile longer I think, and start the weight training now rather than waiting until you're done, because it will have a huge effect on how you look.

Notmyregularusrname · 12/01/2025 21:16

@FerretChops thank you got the reminder about MJ working on glucose etc.

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting it for ages, but keep thinking what’s the point. With all current popular discussion about how it “shuts down food chatter and helps your will power”.

I can do will power. But I can be on a 1400 calorie diet for 2 months and not loose a single pound. So then I think what’s the point when I can instead be on a 2400 calorie diet for the same weight. If I’m going to be fat then I might as well eat!

What I need is something that can make the 1400 calorie diet work for me. So I guess that might be MJ?

FerretChops · 12/01/2025 21:16

@Puffalicious started on 2.5 as everyone has to and lost 4 stone on that dose

I went with med express as I think there was an initial £40 off for a first order. I've stayed with them as I've never had an issue, they've always approved my new orders within a matter of hours and I can't be bothered with chasing discounts every month so they get my vote because I've had a hassle free experience with them

OP posts:
FerretChops · 12/01/2025 21:19

@Notmyregularusrname you sound like me and that was my issue. Couldn't lose weight on 1400 calories no matter what I did

Enter MJ and I'm eating 1400-1500 calories a day and have lost 74 lbs doing so. So yeah, it definitely does 'something' as I have always felt peckish for meals and I still eat chocolate / cake etc. all I do now is have one small bar of chocolate, for example, and then I might not have another bar for a few days - and I allow for it

@FerretChops Thanks for your reply. I am ancient too! Cottage cheese has more protein than Greek yoghurt - if you're going to be bad, might as well get the max out of it! I am about to start weights as last month was the first time I lost lean body mass, so it's made me look more closely at everything again.

BTW I think you look fab, but it doesn't matter what we think, it's how you feel and what you think that matters. It takes a while to sync what's in your head to what you see and how you feel. It's always been the bit I've found most difficult.
