keeponplodding7 · 12/01/2025 09:04

how are you feeling today? That sounds really unpleasant . I’m starting tomorrow. Finally! Went out for dinner last night and had a fairly healthy one but still 2lb heavier this morning. Am so ready to start this now….

Thankfully feeling more or less okay today, managed some toast for breakfast and some electrolytes. I heard back from ME who gave some advice and said welcome to contact them nearer the time of my next injection to see what I want to do. Think ill do the next dose and then decide!

unicornsaremagical · 12/01/2025 12:29

only 24hours in however i have literally no suppression, Has anyone’s started working later than that or is that my body deciding it needs the 5 when my next pen is due

Gintime74 · 12/01/2025 12:56

I am due to start today and have had a sudden bout of anxiety about doing it. I already have a bit of an upset stomach plus i drunk alcohol last night which wasnt planned but gave in to yemptation as out with a friend. And i havr neen reading the fb scaremongering posts.

Fatgirlslim43 · 12/01/2025 13:13

I’m due to start Mounjaro this evening. I’m really excited about it and I suspect I’ve got about four stone to lose. I did try Ozempic a couple of years ago and managed to lose 10lbs in three weeks but found the side effects too much to deal with. I’m hoping the side effects of Mounjaro will be less than Ozempic! Fingers crossed!

First shot on Thursday, no suppression at all. Also no side effects. Managing to calorie count on Nutracheck and feel like have lost weight in the past week as a result of that despite usual levels of hunger (am only going to weigh on Thursdays), but would love MJ to kick in. Resigned to the fact that I may have to wait the month on 2.5 to see if 5 will work.

cloudjumper · 12/01/2025 14:03

What are people's thoughts on moving up to 5 mg? I've had an email from MedExpress saying that I can now order my next pen, and I'm undecided. Suppression for me is great at the moment, but I'm on 1.5 weeks in, so who knows how things will unfold... I'm not against moving up, since 5 mg is the 'clinically' active dose, but if 2.5 mg keeps working, then I don't see why I should move up. And you read all those horror stories about side effects when people increase the dose...

BraveStarr · 12/01/2025 14:07

I've just taken my first dose...my pen has been sitting in my fridge for a week as Ive been too scared to take it! Hoping this is going to go smoothly with minimal side effects.

Hope you're all doing well

Thelittlestranger · 12/01/2025 14:13

I ordered yesterday (and received today!!!) the 5mg pen. I don't intend to move up to that unless I need to, but at the same price, it made sense as I'm ordering it 3 weeks before I use it to give myself the option. Depending on how I feel by then, I will either stick with less by counting clicks, or up it slightly. I've experienced good suppression (food normality!!!) in the past two weeks - if it continues like this I'm happy.

Seconding all the other great posts about the jab not doing the weight loss for you. You are losing the weight by reducing your food intake. The jab is the vehicle to help you do that. If you continue as you always have, you won't lose weight. If you make good habits, then you will over the long term. The jab should make those choices easier for you once you find the amount that works for you.

I 'only' lost 1.5lbs this week after a big loss last week. Usually I would be disheartened at the thought of another week of restrictive dieting. Right now, I don't feel like I'm dieting - and that is where the jab is helping me. This doesn't feel like a diet, as I'm enjoying eating less and eating well. And long may it continue.

I felt the same as you after my first jab, didn’t feel major suppression but managed to eat sensibly and count calories, end of W1 for me was yesterday and I’ve lost 7.5lbs.
second jab yesterday and I think I’m feeling a bit more suppression … remember jabbing each week gradually builds up the medication in your body so you may feel it incrementally as you go through month 1 on 2.5mg…..
or it may be that you need to move to 5mg to feel effects.
See what the next couple of weeks bring 😊

ReadWidelyAndWell · 12/01/2025 14:29

I started MJ yesterday (11/01). I believe I'm already feeling the effects. I can't decide if I don't want to eat because of MJ or if I actually don't want to eat!

Suppression only started at week 2 for me- keep the faith!

emmsyg · 12/01/2025 15:24

@cloudjumper my second order with MedExpress was rapid! I ordered Thursday morning and went for the 5mg - I have every intention of counting clicks and sticking to 2.5 for this pen also, but it’s the same price and it gives me the option.
It arrived the next day! So you probably have time to decide after your third dose.

My only real issue at the moment is that the lack of calories has definitely impacted my running - I’m running out of energy and having to take 10-20 second walk breaks during my 10k distance, and that is very unusual for me, my pace has slowed too. Going to try and do a few midweek 5kms to get used to it but I need to find a nutrition balance that still allows me to exercise, as my running is important to me.

Dunkou · 12/01/2025 15:48

I'm at end of W2, have lost 3 lbs overall. BMI 27 and short.

I have had some side effects in first few days of first jab, and first day of second jab (severe nausea to point of not being able to eat properly for a few days, insomnia, moderate constipation, cold, low blood sugar) and very strong suppression on the 2 jabs I've done (first one 2.5mg, second one was 2mg). It's like the side effects that I read about for people who are entering 5mg.

I'm delaying the third jab for a day or two as I don't have much appetite still which I don't think is the MJ, I think my stomach has just shrunk. I'll do about 1.8mg for next 3 jabs as that splits the rest of the pen evenly.

I've ordered 2.5mg for next pen as I don't think I will be going up any time soon. If I do I'll just use a bit more from that pen. More expensive but I just can't imagine at the moment wanting to go up.

I'm not sure if i can bring myself to do the second jab, are you happy you carried on despite the side effects on the first?

Dunkou · 12/01/2025 16:11

@Mounjarry I was very glad I dropped the dose down. I still felt pretty terrible on 2mg. I'm not looking forward to the third dose but I'm really hoping the side effects will have lessened a lot.

Dunkou · 12/01/2025 16:11

But yes I'm happy I carried on.

Mounjarry · 12/01/2025 16:13

That's good to hear, I will regret quitting as I know this is an amazing opportunity but might try a half dose (will ask provider but not sure if they can recommend changing the doses?).

Dunkou · 12/01/2025 16:14

Not sure, they will probably say no. I was happy to go ahead without asking them. I wouldn't go up ahead of schedule but saw no harm in dropping down slightly. I just couldn't do another full dose and be able to work.

Dunkou · 12/01/2025 16:20

I've only lost 3 pounds which is pretty weak compared to others' losses especially considering how strong I've found it, but I don't mind - the last time I was even at my current weight was November 2023 so it feels like a breakthrough.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 12/01/2025 16:32

@emmsyg that's interesting to hear about your running.
I did 7.5k yesterday, and it was a struggle. Despite doing a few 10ks over Christmas quite happily.
I also felt quite weak in my PT session this weekend.
I'm taking protein powder as well as trying to eat lots of protein and I am starting my marathon training so I hope it's just temporary while getting used to the mj.

emmsyg · 12/01/2025 17:14

Yeah @Usernamesarenoteasy , I had a big bowl of pasta last night and thought that would see me through it fine, and I did manage it, but not at my best!

I’ll take dropping off the pace a bit for the future advantage the weight loss can give me, but I’m also hoping it will settle a bit too as long as I keep up the exercise. It’s my only downside so far so I’ve had it easier than many!

I was marathon training this time last year though, and I’m glad I’m not doing it now, as I can’t imagine how any longer runs would go. I normally take a sip of tailwind every mile on long runs and I tried that today but it was hard to stomach! Hopefully all settles
