weighed myself today and lost 7.5kilo since Jan 1st! Very pleased with this .. ordered the 5 pen and going to gradually move up the dosage

TicTac80 · 24/01/2025 10:03

Soooo Week 4, Day 1. Had my 4th dose earlier on. Weight this morning is 70.65kg (71.75kg last Friday). On 27/12, I was 77.2kg.

So far, so good. Occasional constipation (sorry TMI!). Has anyone found that in this latter part of the month, you're feeling a bit more hungry? I ate a "fake away" meal last night: Quorn chicken burger, on thin protein bagel, with a hash brown and two each of mozzarella cheese bites and halloumi fries (all air fried). And a handful of salad. 694cals in total for the meal (my total intake yesterday was 1188cals). I actually managed to eat the meal (stupidly forced myself to finish it!) but god did I feel it afterwards. Ugh! I think it must be the actual amount I ate - it was a lot more than normal for this month. It's taught me that I'm going to need to keep a good eye on portion size. Next fake away we have, I'll just have the burger, maybe the hash brown and definitely the salad.

Weird thing happened this week: I had a vague and super light period on Wednesday (as in some menstruating). I've not had a period in months (definitely NOT pregnant - I've been celibate since XH left 6yrs ago) and I'm on HRT because of peri.

Yet another weird thing. I have TWO unopened cheese selection boxes from Xmas still in my fridge. I think I will stick them in freezer and then take out a small bit at a time. I bloody love cheese, but have hardly touched it. Yesterday I went out to run some errands. Walked to town, rather than drove. Was going to treat myself to a breakfast in town, walked into nice eatery, looked at menu and walked out without getting anything.

Today, I'm going to prep some crudités, and make some veggie soup for this coming week. Making sure I have prepped healthy stuff to hand seems to be key for me. How is everyone else doing? I'm going to try and get the 5th dose from the syringe next Friday I think.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 24/01/2025 10:07

I'm definitely linking my being hungrier with the progesterone I'm taking in this part of my cycle. Tonight is my last progesterone dose so hopefully some water weight might woosh off and the hunger die down a bit.
It's my birthday next week and I'd like to not feel completely deprived so I plan to have a small slice of birthday cake and we are going out for dinner (somewhere i can be reasonably healthy). Hope it doesn't have too much of an impact!

HousePlans · 24/01/2025 10:12

Morning all. Great reading about everyone's experiences.

This is W1D4 for me. I did my first jab on Monday evening. Very mild side effects - teeny bit of queasiness every so often, bit of light burping, so cold on day 2! Fascinated by how a weight loss drug can make us feel cold, any clue anyone?

Food suppression is great. Maybe too great. Having to force myself to eat. Currently not calorie counting, was interested to see if I could avoid that with the combination of food suppression, making better food choices and Slimpod. I did Slimpod last year and lost a stone with no calorie counting. Think that and mounjaro could be a great combination.

Is anyone else not calorie counting? Or using Slimpod alongside?

Although I think if food suppression continues to be this strong, I might have to calorie count to make sure I'm eating enough!

SW 14st11
GW 11ish. Will know when I get there.

Will do first proper weigh in on Tuesday morning but a sneaky peek today is looking positive. 😄

Ivorymoon · 24/01/2025 10:16

I’m not counting calories either. I don’t want to give food that much headspace and it isn’t helpful long term imo, unless you plan to count calories for the rest of your life. I do worry about the low calories some people seem to aiming for, as living off 1000 calories a day isn’t healthy.

Overthemoun · 24/01/2025 10:27

Weighed this morning and no longer obese!!

Snoopibird · 24/01/2025 10:29

@HousePlans we seem to be at the same stage and similar weight and goal! And yes freezing
But I had hot flushes then freezing again last night! And constipated

Jins · 24/01/2025 10:43

I’m not counting calories either. I’m low carbing instead as it’s the only way I’ve ever lost weight and maintained that loss in the past.

I’ve done calorie control and Weightwatchers in the past with moderate success but the maintenance has been unsustainable. It messes with my head and makes me obsessed with what I eat which is unhealthy for me (and boring for my family)

Second dose done and have lost 9lbs in week one. Yes I know - water weight, losses will slow down, should be aiming for smaller losses blah blah blah but that’s what the scales are saying so who am I to argue 😆week one went very smoothly, hoping this week is the same but I’m a bit of pessimist generally.

Well done everyone, it’s a big thing to make that decision to start on MJ but we’re doing it for the right reasons which is to improve our health.

CW - 12st 5lbs

Wow cherrycherryblossom
9lbs in one week? that's amazing! How many calories are you having a day?

Ive just weighed and I've lost 4lbs which I'm pleased with. Whenever I start dieting I lose 4 in the first week and then go down to just 1 or 2 a week so I'm preparing myself for this taking a while. I put my goal weight in the Juniper app last night and it said they estimate it'll take 10 months to get there - i was like 😭 but I'm hoping it won't take that long (I'm very impatient and want to be slim NOW)
I never know whether I'm not eating enough though and that's why I have slower losses as I'm 5"8" and have had between 900-1200 calories per day this week. I think I should probably be eating more.

Well done all the losses 🥳

TicTac80

Ive been reading a lot of threads with earlier starters and many are saying their periods have restarted after many years.

I'm predicting there are going to be a lot of Mounjaro babies! Obvs you would need some sperm for that also 😂

Seaitoverthere · 24/01/2025 10:53

Great news @Overthemoun !

Bonus dose is done thanks to DH as I am a bit pathetic. Syringe used , 0.7 injected which works out at 2.92mg. I have the 5mg in the fridge but don’t want to go up the full way in one go.

Am planning to use the bonus dose on next pen so taking the total cost of 2 pens I will have 10 weeks from them and works out as £23.41 per week which is offset by reduced food bill.

Which needles did you buy? I want to do the bonus jabs too.

2catsand2kids · 24/01/2025 11:15

Lots of fabulous losses on here, well done everyone. I am currently on W3D6, and as of this morning I have lost a stone!!! I will do my next injection tomorrow morning and am planning on doing the bonus dose next week (the syringes I ordered for this arrived a few days ago). My next pen has also arrived and I went for the 5mg. I have really noticed this week that I am getting way less suppression than I did in the first couple of weeks and it has taken an awful lot more willpower not to snack and over eat. I haven't had any side effects though this week which has been a bonus!

I am going out for dinner tonight with my DH and am planning on having a glass of wine with dinner, so am fully expecting the scales will have gone up a bit in the morning, but I don't mind that as long as the general direction is down. I really want to still be able to enjoy going out for dinner and eating nice things sometimes.

Hi all,

Found this thread by accident, had a read through and I think (hope) I’ve found an answer for me.

Never knew “food noise” was a thing. Didn’t realise my ADHD brain was playing a factor in my weight loss. I thought it was all just me and I was broken somehow. Food noise consumes my life!!

Ordered Mounjaro and it’s due to be delivered today.

Looking forward to hopefully learning from you all and sharing successful weight loss.

How much water is everyone drinking? I really upped my water intake yesterday. I felt like I was awash tbh.

Cremeeggtime · 24/01/2025 12:17

Am feeling very full all the time. I still like putting things in my mouth though 😳 but have swapped my normal morning snack for some grapes.

I don't have the "full" feeling and am managing my evening meal with no problem - I'm just finding I've no desire to snack or eat certain things. Got quite a bad headache today but I get a lot of headaches anyway.

cherrycherryblossom · 24/01/2025 12:24

@JoanCollinsDiva Aiming for around 1200 cals a day which is what I would try and stick to if I was doing it without MJ. I tend to hold on to water normally so I’m sure most of that 9lbs is water weight. I think day 1 was the only day I really struggled to get over 1000 cals.

You’re a very similar height and starting weight to me 😊Well done on your loss.

discoballv · 24/01/2025 12:35

I'm not calorie counting either.

I lost 2st recently doing 16:8 and eating lower carbs, near enough cutting out sugar and high protein and fat, without counting any calories.

I gained 7lbs over the past 8 months as I had a stressful period and eating well came very low on my list of priorities (and I am such a stress eater!), so my diet was atrocious.

So I've gone back to meal planning and eating well and I am sure that will be enough to drop the last bit of weight I need to lose.

cherrycherryblossom · 24/01/2025 12:37

Is anyone taking collagen in any way shape or form and can they recommend to me? Getting a bit older and worried about skin elasticity etc

Thelittlestranger · 24/01/2025 13:52

Interesting conversation on counting cals, versus not counting cals. Some are fasting, some reducing carbs, some are looking at cals, others WW, or slimpod. Ultimately the end goal is to reduce the amount of calories we are eating and finding what works for each individual is the important part.

Unfortunately, I've tried them all (with success) over the last 47 years - that's not my problem. It's making it a lifestyle so I don't put it back on that is the biggest challenge.

@Ivorymoon - why is 1000 cals per day unhealthy? Surely that would depend on your size, and what that 1000 cals consist of?

unicornsaremagical · 24/01/2025 13:54

does anyone know how long medexpress are currently taking?

MananaMananaPenelope · 24/01/2025 14:14

Re cals, it is so easy, for me (!), not to get that part right. Things can add up really quickly. One of the conversations with my consultant about not losing weight was around some peri/menopausal women needing fewer calories than they have ever eaten before.

My BMR is about 1800kcal from memory, yet on 1500kcal a day and walking about 5-6000 steps each day I lose absolutely nothing. Three days a week I do at least 10,000 steps a day. I don’t have the energy for proper exercise post cancer, I work ft and just walk as much as I can, adding in gentle yoga twice a week.

I know that I don’t want a diet that excludes food groups.

I had my homemade soup and a piece of toast at lunchtime, I didn’t butter the toast, that’s unusual 😅.

Most people need a minimum of 1200 a day to function. 800-1000 calories would not be healthy long term. This is why dieting doesn’t work, as people can reduce short term to lose weight and then pile the weight back on once they need to maintain.
