Thanks for the tips, will try the hips swaying and some paracetamol- i had some in the night not sure why I haven't taken any since!

That's great Medexpress are dispatching so quick. Have you both ordered 5mg or 2.5 again? As I wondered if maybe it's just the starter dose having delays.
I got some credit through a friend using my code so but could still do with waiting a bit to order!

Ah good point, I have ordered the 5. I may just take it as 2.5 though, as it's been great sk far, and it was the same price.

Thelittlestranger · 11/01/2025 18:24

Peppermint tea can be good for trapped wind - was awesome for me after my sections.

Day 6 here (week 2), enjoying a glass of prosecco. I have never wanted to drink prosecco much, but it's the only alcohol I fancy at the moment weirdly. So have bought a few of the mini bottles. I'm enjoying the cadence of jabbing on a Sunday, and the easing off on Friday and Saturday. Also going away for a few nights at the end of next week which works with timing.

I've ordered the 5mg pen, and will see how I am as to whether I up to the whole dose immediately. I will be doing the bonus dose of this pen - but I'm another one who Medexpress has immediately sent out the new one after ordering today.

I'm using Shotsy and it's been interesting to see the estimated levels in my system and how different I feel this week, to last week on similar levels. I'm not sure how accurate it is, and whether I will continue with it.

Happy Saturday all!

TidyLion · 11/01/2025 19:12

I’m drinking huge amounts of peppermint tea as one of my side effects seems to be being less keen on coffee. Hadn’t considered the soothing effects too!

Thelittlestranger · 11/01/2025 20:01

I've rediscovered it for sure over the last few weeks. Enjoying one in the evening

DGonMJ · 11/01/2025 20:21

@Thelittlestranger Sunday-jabber here too. I’m also enjoying the easing off of suppression by Friday and Saturday. I’m still able to lay off the snacks, but I’m getting peckish for meal times, eating a sensible portion (ie less than I used to) and feeling satisfied but not uncomfortably full.

I did a weight training session with my PT today - have told him my 2025 goal is to build muscle mass.

Second injection tomorrow morning. Hoping it’s as easy as the first!

Bellabluea · 11/01/2025 20:37

Day 3 here. Haven’t been to the loo yet but I feel
fine. Went out for dinner where I skipped the starter and only ate half of my spaghetti which is unheard of!
I ordered an aperol spritz but only drank half as I wasn’t into it. I’m kind of going with what my body wants. I seem to be staying away from sweet things but loving cheese and olives albeit in small amounts.
happy so far. And down 1.8kg!

LouScot · 11/01/2025 20:53

So after a great week 1 (lost 5lbs) I've had a rubbish week 2 (under a pound). I've lost more weight doing WW before!! I had hunger and no real appetite suppression.

I took my third dose yesterday (Friday) and it's been a challenge all day, food noise is back, I'm hungry (physically as well as food noise hunger). I'm eating protein at every meal and plenty of water - food logged on myfitnesspal and in a good calorie deficit whilst still meeting minimum.

I had such high hopes and I feel rather fed up now.

Urgh!!!

I'd imagine you're just ready to go up which is annoying that early on but you will find a dose that really works for you soon. I hope it's at least easier to stick to a deficit on the drug even if you do feel hungry at least.

Beachcomber74 · 12/01/2025 00:00

Am doing this through pharmacist who just charges the cost but injects & weighs me weekly. I’m too scared of needles to do it myself but had first one today. Long long road ahead with 5 plus stone to lose but first step taken & hoping no side effects. My arm is sore where I had jab but no worse than Covid jab. Pharmacy will keep pen & needles so don’t need to hide them in fridge out of kids reach!

Just remember the 2.5mg is technically not a therapeutic dose, you're preparing your body and mind for what's to come. Changing unhealthy habits is a good thing. Hopefully the 5 mg will support you more.

On Shotsy I should technically have a higher level in my blood this week than last but don't feel it at all. I've had 2 doses of 2.5 and don't feel the suppression. It's will power, but I have managed to stop snacking and I'm drinking more. I'm interested what the 5 will do for me.

That's a great set up! Can I ask how you arranged this? Is it an official scheme they run or you approached them?

I'm 0.25lb down today (I know I shouldn't weigh daily but I find it helps keep me focused for the day). So that's still in the right direction and I think I've been so lucky with my loss so far and have read on other threads that if you are big loser in week 1 you're likely not to lose much week 2. I've noticed since Jab 2 (done Thursday eve) that I don't have the insane thirst as badly as I had week 1. I'm still keeping up my water intake but it is nice to feel not permanently parched.
Day after the jab this week I also had quite a few toilet trips... although no diarrhea. I was grateful in some ways as bowel movements have been quite infrequent during week 1 and I'm deffo suffering constipation.
Yesterday I got out the house on my own (unheard of!) and had a lovely frosty 35 min walk which got my daily steps to over 6k. This is very good for me as on average a day o only manage 4k usually in the week. So that felt good. I've set my daily target of steps.to 6k initially as 10k just feels so out of reach atm.

Hope everyone is feeling good today

You’ve lost the best part of half a stone in 2 weeks ! I’m at 3.4lbs in 2 weeks but happy with that as I am looking at the wider picture and it is doing what it is supposed to ie. I am losing weight. It isn’t going to miraculously melt fat off us ! I think there is so much publicity about it and people saying it is cheating that it kind of creeps into your head that his going to be incredibly affective and we’re all going to lose more than we ever have before which for some it may do but won’t for a lot of us.

The reality is we will still be subject to the same fluctuations in weight that happen and are completely normal and will all still have the same weight loss plateaus that always happen when we lose weight. We’ll all have to work on our diet and exercise.

However hopefully because of the way it works it will hopefully help make it that little bit easier and therefore make it more feasible to continue with longer term. I read someone somewhere say they aren’t going to say food suppression but rather food normalisation as they think what we call suppression is what a lot of people usually feel, certainly looking at the rest of my family that makes sense to me so it kind of levels the playing field a bit.

Also it as more research is being done we are learning more about how it acts on various organs in our body and hopefully we will get other physiological benefits such as reduced cardiovascular risk etc.

Ahbist0 · 12/01/2025 08:57

Week one done and just did my next injection. I’m down 5.5lbs, very happy with that. Positive it will slow down from now to about a pound a week, it always has done before on previous diets, but this is a good booster at the beginning! Hoping I’ll be really getting somewhere by the end of spring.

how are you feeling today? That sounds really unpleasant . I’m starting tomorrow. Finally! Went out for dinner last night and had a fairly healthy one but still 2lb heavier this morning. Am so ready to start this now….

Jins · 12/01/2025 09:22

I’m another one that does daily weights then takes a weekly average. I did it when low carbing and it definitely seemed to smooth out the highs and lows and give me a general direction of travel.

However…. Day 3 of week 1 and I’m a pound up. Appetite suppression isn’t bad, no snacking and reduced intake overall so you can imagine my joy. Fingers crossed that things go the way I want soon and my first average is a bit lower than starting weight

EverybodySayCheeze · 10/01/2025 08:06

Hello everyone, another newbie here if that’s ok. I just took my first 2.5 and feeling very excited and very apprehensive!

Just wondering what food tracking apps people are using. I have MyFitnessPal, but I have seen others tracking protein intake which I don’t think I can do there. Just want to make sure I’m eating the right things.

Cant believe some of the stories here already after one week - so happy for everyone one! And thanks for the tip about measuring yourself, I’ve just (depressingly) done that, so ready to go!

Good morning @EverybodySayCheeze i use My Fitness Pal and it does track protein in the dashboards that you can access on the opening page rather than the diary page

Jab 2 done. Bit of leakage on the medication. Maybe next week I’ll have perfected it.
Looking forward to seeing this week’s progress, hopefully a bit slower than last week (helped by end of period).

Told a friend of mine - she thinks anyone who isn’t diabetic who takes it is a guinea pig (and therefore taking a risk) as all the research has been based on people who have diabetes.

I’m hoping that if I make steady progress on the 2.5 that I can just stay on this dose for as long as possible, till I hit goal weight. Then the journey of maintenance begins. It’s probably about 6 months away, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for tips on how to maintain…am I worried about the research that mentions very fast weight gain and increase to visceral fat (again, research participants were all diabetics)

I’ve also got Renpho body mass scales which seem to think my current body fat percentage is 36.1% would like to get down to 30-33%

Week 2 Day 1
SW 79.6kg
CW 75.5kg (4.1kg / 9lbs loss)
GW 65kg / BMI 24

Thank you for sharing, I am so constantly thirsty which in some respects is a good thing as I definitely wasn't drinking enough water before, but I now have dry lips so obviously still not getting in enough. I'd say I'm bordering on constipation. No real suppression but I have found it a bit easier to stick to my diet so maybe it's working a little. Second jab is on Wednesday and then I fly on holiday on Sunday and third jab is whilst I'm away. I'm keeping it quiet from everyone so I need to get through security without them outing me!! 🤞

Incredible loss, I've not really got suppression so not lost anything beyond what I might have lost dieting but I'm ok with that as my expectation was this was just a starting dose to get you there.
I think that anyone who is overweight and has tried to lose weight on their own unsuccessfully should be on this medication, it's not just for diabetics, it's to stop us getting diabetes in my mind!
With regards to maintenance I think that a) during this period we need to have changed our habits, this medication will help us get the body we want but we have to keep up the habits in order to keep it and b) the food noise may come back and the suppression may disappear and then it's a combination of habits and willpower.
I've lost weight so many times and not kept it off because I considered myself on a diet. I then found I could no longer lose weight. This time I want to lose it and keep it off and I need to change my habits, consider myself not on a diet but this is my new lifestyle and way of eating and make it work for me. I also signed up to Slimming World so my intention is to continue to weigh weekly (minimum monthly) forever so I stay where I want to be. Previously sticking my head in the sand and not weighing and just have a f#@£ it attitude got me to this size, sharer bags of chocolate daily, I just don't even know why! It's not healthy, I know that and I hope my time on mj will help me to conquer some of the emotional issues and find new ways to address them other than food. Looking forward to being on the journey with others as we help each other through this!

supafish · 12/01/2025 10:29

Hi there , I started my first pen on Friday ! Yay , cannot wait for something to hopefully work . Have taken some photos #horrific , and will do this monthly . Looking forward to getting support from you all and offering it xx Come on , let's do this xxx💪

DGonMJ · 12/01/2025 10:52

Agree @tinyemmy like you, I’m hoping to make a long lasting lifestyle change.

I’ve managed it in the past, I got myself a PT - completely changed my body shape, weekly weigh-ins, watched what I ate, and I really enjoyed exercising. I got down from 76kg to 64kg over 6 months…and maintained at 65/66 for a couple of years.
Covid lockdown broke the gym cycle, followed by a more intensive job and stressful autistic teen parenting, which led to more comfort eating/drinking and a mental exhaustion that slowly chipped away at my motivation to exercise. And then of course I’m now older, possibly peri-menopausal, and it’s so much harder to lose weight following my previous methods. Tried intermittent fasting at 14:10, gave up alcohol, cut out refined carbs, actually put on weight. Widened the fasting window to 16:8, then 18:6 (which miserably meant not eating with family) and after 3 months I lost 1.5kg.

One week on WLI and incredibly I’ve lost 4kg which takes my back to my previous starting ‘fat point’ where I would usually get back to consciously eating/exercising. I’m not expecting such a dramatic loss going forward and I definitely want to ensure I get enough nutrition to keep my brain and body functioning. So I’m tracking calories so I don’t go below 1200. My job is fairly high pressured, I need to preserve every brain cell I’ve got left!

Beachcomber74 · 12/01/2025 10:55

@Changingnameagain
The pharmacist has a platform so typed in all my details, weighed & measured me etc. & offers it free. It’s a good set up for me re needle phobia!!
He said the Harley Street Doctors are doing the same but packaging it up on a £500pcm offer which is immoral. The big future is according to him a package of PT, nutrition & a weight loss program. Apparently muscle wastes so it’s important to keep exercising & not expect the injection to do everything for you. I have mild stomach cramps in night but no other side effects & feel ok now.

Onthego25 · 12/01/2025 11:29

Just finished my first week and I'm down 7lbs. I'm sure it's mainly water and the extra food that was in transit, but I'm v happy with that.

i felt almost instant appetite suppression last week but no idea if it was a placebo effect. I didn't have any side effects but I'm a bit worried in case they start this week. I'm on jury service and really don't want to be having 'batlhroom issues'! Fingers crossed!

tinyemmy · 12/01/2025 11:29

@DGonMJ this sounds exactly like me, eldest daughter is pre-teen and ASD and ADHD and some days after particularly bad emotional dysregulation from her I just feel spent. Fairly stressful full-time job to add to the mix and there just isn't enough emotional energy to go around.
I'm perimenopausal on HRT and this has helped some of the joint pain, tiredness and night sweats it hasn't helped with the weight gain.
I was at work on Thursday and one of the guys wanted to walk the stairs just one flight, I'd done three that morning but just automatically walked to the lift and he said oh alright then. I do wonder if he looked at me and thought I was too fat to do the stairs. I'm probably over thinking it but I used to be the fit one. I ran the marathon in 2012, I was gearing up for another marathon in 2021 but I've just had non-stop injuries since then, which I blame age / perimenopause for. I just want to be the fit one again. Sadly unlikely to be running given all the injuries but I enjoy walking and I'm trying desperately to get into weights
I'm also a black belt martial artist despite my weight! (I was fit when I started)
