PrimalLass I am planning on extracting the bonus dose in 2 weeks time. I’ve got needle syringes and extra alcohol wipes. Stupid question but after you’ve extracted the dose from the pen do you change needle?

I just jabbed it straight in me!

That's actually a good point. I don't think I can change the needles on the syringes I bought (recommended on here) I think they're kind of an all in one.

I don’t think my needles on syringes I have can be changed either!
I’ve been looking online and people who regularly inject insulin etc some have to withdraw the dose from a vial with a needled syringe and it tells them to extract then inject. Therefore I think I’ll just make sure after extracting the needle isn’t bent and might clean it with an alcohol swab then inject.

Well today W3 D5 my hunger is insatiable 😭
Not experienced this yet and I'm panicking 🙈 Did this happen to anyone else when due on? I was hungrier yesterday and had to reign it in but today is like the drug doesn't exist

UnderandOverwhelmed · 21/01/2025 14:45

@sociallydistained I'm week 3 day 6 and the food nose has been back for the last 3 days I'd say. I've eaten a biscuit just now whereas I wouldn't have touched it on week one or two

cloudjumper · 21/01/2025 14:52

@sociallydistained I'm at a similar point W3 D7 (well, it's W4 D1, I'm due to jab tonight), and I have also noticed that over the last few days, my hunger/the food noise has started to reappear. I think it's normal, as we are not on the clinically active dose yet, and while it works really well for some and they won't have to increase the dose, there is a reason why the drug is prescribed in increments. I've just ordered my 5mg pen, and will need to be extra vigilant this week while I'm still on 2.5mg.

MJalltheway · 21/01/2025 14:53

My pen has been delivered and is safely stored in the fridge for now, not planning to start until Friday (although sorely tempted to just go for it!). I'm out all day Thursday at a cinference though so would not want any dodgy side effects, just in case!

in the meantime though before starting, I've been listening to a hypnotherapy weight loss/overeating session and it seems to be making a difference just from that. Not been tempted by any snacks/biscuits at all today. So I will keep listening to that as well as starting on the mounjaro on Friday.

I'm also starting Friday! I'm trying to eat well from today onwards to help ease any potential side effects - lots of protein and veg and no junk. Good luck 🤞🏻

sociallydistained · 21/01/2025 15:13

If others are experiencing it I guess it's a combo of naturally wearing off plus pre period hunger than. I'm at 1400 kcals already 🙈 I'm okay now but will want dinner later so allowing myself maintenance today. It is what it is.
I think I'm going to try jabbing my arm next.

JoJothegerbil · 21/01/2025 15:49

W2D2 and my appetite suppression is not as strong this week. I’m definitely hungrier. I did manage to ignore the Victoria sponge a colleague brought into work today though. Normally I’d have at least had a slice.

Fountofwisdom · 21/01/2025 16:31

W3 D1 on 2.5mg and just took 3rd jab. Am only weighing myself once a week on injection day, and have lost 11lbs in first 2 weeks. No side effects so far, other than feeling a bit of indigestion.

I know 2.5mg isn’t meant to be a therapeutic dose but it is definitely reducing my appetite a lot. Am struggling to eat 3 smallish meals a day. Could only manage 4 spoonfuls of porridge this morning and a bowl of soup for lunch with 1 slice of bread. Will have a small cod steak with cheese sauce for dinner with a couple of new potatoes and green beans. Don’t feel inclined to snack which is unheard of for me, I love snacks!! The most snacking I’ve done in the past week was a couple of squares of chocolate (I would normally demolish a big bar no problem) or a small bag of Twiglets on the odd evening. Previously I ate crisps every day.

So far, so good. Am glad I found this group as I live alone and have been very nervous starting the MJ journey alone but now know I can find lots of useful info here.

Anyone had their sleep impacted? Did it get better? I’m on w1d4 and not sleeping well. I normally sleep really deeply, so feeling rather jet lagged. 🤔

AuntiePushpa · 21/01/2025 16:38

Hi, do people have a link for a syringe for the bonus dose that they have used themselves? I can't see where it says 1ml on the one linked above (which I assume would be easiest to work out a 0.6ml dose)

Me too - wake at 2 or 0200, I do manage to drop off again but it takes a while. It’s annoying but not enough to stop being skinny (ish ) for summer !

I have bought these ones medbasic.co.uk/bd-micro-fine-30g-1ml-syringes-needles/?attribute_pa_quantity=10

Fantastic weight loss 👏
My snacking is almost non-existent too it’s like I’m a different person! and when I do eat it’s much smaller portions and I know when to stop. I think mounjaro is doing something to me physically and mentally and hopefully it continues. I’m on W3D1 and did feel hungry this morning for the first time since starting but a banana soon got rid of that which wouldn’t have touched the sides before!

Cremeeggtime · 21/01/2025 17:52

Hmm I feel a bit of a failure as although I'm feeling full a lot sooner, I haven't lost the desire to have some snacks

I do wonder how much is psychological (placebo effect, fear of side effects) rather than physiological especially at low doses.

Personally I find it concerning if anyone wants this medication to make them permanently not hungry, unless you plan on taking these jabs for life that’s not really healthy or sustainable long term imo.

Thankyou. I’m really pleased so far and feeling motivated. I’ve previously done shake-based diets which I just found so difficult, so MJ is brilliant because I’m eating actual food, and not feeling deprived. But I’m making healthier choices which are easier to stick to as the hunger just isn’t an issue.

I’m doing 35 minutes on a cross-trainer at the gym every other day and on non-gym days, I’m doing a 90 min walk. That all feels manageable without doing so much that I try to avoid it.

Have also started taking an apple with me as a snack for my walk which I never would have dreamt of doing before.

FCforMounjaro · 21/01/2025 18:04

For me there is definitely an element of not eating something because I dint way bit feel unwell, also I want to have this push to finally get to target.

I do feel fuller sooner and the nausea on sone days has helped. Having said that I feel a bit hungry tonight and had my second jab this morning. Interested to see how hungry I am tomorrow.

Sockmate123 · 20/01/2025 22:23

On the needle thing, my supplier advised me to take 5mg to start with and just take half doses...so I'll need more needles....where do I order them from?

Re 30 days, I don't know about MJ but when my DH was on Ozempic he went way over the allotted time and Dr said it was fine. It might lose a little of it's efficacy but not dangerous. I dont know if the same is true for MJ but as I am doing half doses mine will last up to 2 months and it didn't seem to be a problem for the prescriber 🤷‍♀️

I bought a box of needles from the pharmacy when I collected my prescription. Just tell them it’s for Mounjaro and they’ll know which needles you need.

I’m planning on doing this, will be keen to see how you get on. I’m W3D2 but have to order next pen this week

Hey. Promised an update. I'm on day 2 after a 3.75mg dose. I've had a headache today but that's not unusual for me. Other then that, all good. Think I'm going to go up to 5mg next week.

Congratulations! I bet that feels great, well done.

I took my first dose yesterday morning and there was no reaction, good or bad. I wasn't surprised as I know it takes different amounts of time for people. I ate within my calories but definitely could have happily carried on eating. Got up this morning thinking about cereal for breakfast but the weirdest thing is happening. I'm a bit hungry but I've been sitting at the table for the past 30 minutes and I just can't be bothered to get up and get the cereal. Not having breakfast is unheard of for me. Is this it or is it some kind of placebo effect? I don't feel different at all. Either way, I'll take it 😀

I was the same for the two days after jab W1 and W2 - I thought about breakfast, then didn't actually get anything to eat for breakfast, then it was lunchtime. I jab on a Friday. By the Monday my suppression is wearing off and I do eat breakfast. I'll go up to 5 on my next order but I'll be disciplined and make sure I eat something every morning even if it's just a banana or something.

We are at pretty much the same stage, I am also struggling to eat much, I can feel hungry but when I think of food I think “oh noooo don’t fancy that” - going to re order on Friday (pay day) but really unsure to go up to 5 if 2.5 is working. I’ve lost 5kg in three weeks ….
