Took my first 2.5 dose last night. I've switched from Wegovy to Mounjaro after losing over 8 stone to get me to my target weight (about a stone away) and then for ongoing maintenance because of the prescribing limit on Wegovy.

I feel absolutely fine. Not hungry right now, no nausea, the only side effect seems to be a dry mouth. All positive so far. Hope everyone has a good week.

Wow what an amazing achievement, well done! You're the expert around here then lol. Good luck reaching your target on MJ x

supafish · 20/01/2025 11:30

4pounds lost on my first week 😀 Very pleased with that , haven't had any side effects apart from a bit of constipation . Senna is sorting that . Happy so far .

Wow that is incredible!!!
I have 7 stone to loose but that feels too much to aim for to begin.

Dry mouth yes! I had mistaken it for thirst but you are right, it's actually a dry mouth making me drink I think.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/01/2025 11:49

@DareDevil. How long have you been in your weight loss journey?

Wow, well done 8 stone is amazing!

Seeing as you've tried them all it will be interesting to get your opinion on the differences between each one. Is mounjaro supposed to be ok to take long term and the others aren't?

cloudjumper · 20/01/2025 12:03

W3 D6 - I think that my suppression is starting to wear off. I still don't have much of an appetite, but the food noise/mindless snacking has come back a little bit over the last few days. I found myself finishing off a bag of crisps yesterday, which I'm really annoyed at myself about 😳! I've been so good until now, and it's silly to sabotage myself with something that I don't even particularly like!

So I've decided to go up to the 5mg dose and will order this week. One more week on 2.5mg, and I will need to switch on. Fortunately, my gym's focus programme starts today, so that gives me more accountability.

Anyone else struggling with drinking enough water? I find it really hard to get to 2L when it's cold, as I prefer warm/hot drinks. Having lots of herbal tea at the moment, but I noticed that the morning headaches are more prominent.

@DareDevil. How long have you been in your weight loss journey?

About 2.5 years but there were breaks/gaps early on when there were shortages of Ozempic so I probably could have done it faster with an uninterrupted supply. When I lose another 7lbs then I will have lost 9 stone and will have a BMI under 25 but I want to lose a bit more to take me well into the healthy range.

Dunkou · 20/01/2025 12:05

@cloudjumper are you having electrolytes? That might help with the headaches.

LAgeDeRaisin · 20/01/2025 12:05

Hoping my first MJ arrives today- could I join?
Starting weight 100kg
Goal weight 70kg
3 children in the last 4 years and struggling to shift all the baby weight. Hoping to achieve it by next christmas.

It's actually 8.5 now. I think they are all fine to take long-term, my health is hugely improved as you can imagine but Wegovy has a two year prescribing limit whereas MJ doesn't and seems to be more geared up for long use and use in maintenance.

mince3point14159265 · 20/01/2025 12:12

That's a fantastic loss @DareDevil223 , congratulations! You must feel so much better. I'm so looking forward to my joints being under much less stress!

Dunkou · 20/01/2025 12:05

@Dunkou yes, and they are definitely helping! The link of me not drinking enough and getting headaches is nothing new for me, but it seems that mj is exacerbating the appearance of the headaches.

Honestly I feel like a different person. My knees were so painful that I used to crawl up the stairs and go down them one foot at a time - now I trot up and down with no problem at all. I weight train, I do spin classes and yoga. I'm in my 50s as well so no youngster Grin

Hi! I’m two hours in to mine. Feel fine so far haha but I do have a slight soreness where I injected - I was shaking and I bent the needle! Drinking lots of water. I’m 5ft 1 with a bmi of 32 - aiming to lose 2 stone on mj and then keep it up on my own

LAgeDeRaisin · 20/01/2025 14:02

Good luck! I'm still awaiting text from pharmacy and working for the next few days so really hoping I can collect today.

GrumpyMuleFan · 20/01/2025 14:30

@cloudjumper I'm the same as you, so I make up measuring jug of 50% boiling water, 50% cold water. I also have a check list that I'll drink 5 of these a day. It really helps me.

That's a good idea, mixing hot and cold water... I use water bottle with markings that tell me how much I should have drunk every hour, which really helps me keeping track (can't be bothered logging my water intake on MyFitnessPal).

Out of curiousity, has anyone switched providers when going up a dose? Is it easy? How would you prove that you've had the previous dose?

Randomusernameforcode · 20/01/2025 15:38

Well week 3 is now done. 4th injection this evening.
Wk 1 loss 3lb
Wk 2 loss 2lb
Wk 3 loss just under 2lb.
Would have really liked a round number to take me up to half a stone loss but oh well. Need to remind myself I've NEVER lost half a stone In three weeks before. I used to do slimming world (too mamy times!) and I can remember getting the half stone award took 5-6 weeks each time.

I'll do the bonus dose next week and then think I will try 3.75mg from my 5mg pen thats waiting. Slightly apprehensive as I've been so, so lucky to have little to no side effects so far.

Id like to know this too if anyone can help. I bought my first dose from Juniper with a discount but there doesn't seem to be any further discount codes and the next pen is £209 which seems expensive compared to other suppliers.

Also, when injecting for the second time on Friday do Ifollow the exact same procedure as the first time with prepping/squirting the pen etc and then twist to no.2?

Im feeling really good today, the tiredness & headache of yesterday has gone and I've been for a walk. Don't feel hungry at all.

I've been drinking hot water. Just boil the kettle and drink it like tea

Finallydoingit24 · 20/01/2025 16:24

Hi - I am new here (although not new to Mumsnet!). I have just put in an order for mounjaro from simple online pharmacy.

I have struggled terribly with binge eating for my whole adult life but once I was in my early 30s it got worse. I am now 42 and my BMI is 30.4. I have binged about half the days for the past 2 months and the weight has piled on. I managed to lose 3 stone during lockdown but most of it’s gone back on. It’s so gutting - I can do a few weeks of eating well and then I undo all of it by eating huge amounts. I don’t want to - I feel awful and so unattractive.

I am nervous about mounjaro mainly wondering whether I will poo my pants or end up in a&e with pancreatitis 😞 but I don’t want to be obese anymore and I don’t feel I can tackle this on my own. I feel like my body is fighting against me every step I take and I want to be healthy.

LAgeDeRaisin · 20/01/2025 16:48

@keeponplodding7 I'm 30 mins post first dose - are you feeling any side effects yet?

Usernamesarenoteasy · 20/01/2025 16:54

@JoanCollinsDiva
Exactly the same procedure as before with the priming, and tuen it to number 1.
There is no number 2.
Number 1 means 1 whole dose 😊

Usernamesarenoteasy · 20/01/2025 16:56

@cloudjumper if you're switching providers they will ask to see a photo of your current box with prescription on, or a screen shot of your last order that shows the provider and the dose you were on.
