2nd weigh in this morning.
On 2.5.

Lost 9lb in total.

I've got a dress on for a funeral this morning I've never been able to wear before

Lilausaurusrex · 17/01/2025 08:15

Hi! I took. My first dose Tuesday January 14. So far no side effects except some constipation. And I have had to force myself to eat. Just the thought of food gives me the ick 😵‍💫

what has everyone been eating so far?

TheSeagullsSquawk · 17/01/2025 08:42

Hi I just started this week on Tuesday. I don't think I am getting much in the way of suppression, I don't think I am less hungry although I may feel fuller when I eat - so smaller portions. Plus side - no real side effects.

I wasn't particularly worried as I know 2.5mg is a sub-therapeutic dose but it does seem like a lot of people feel effects right away and lose a lot of weight in the first week. That is not happening to me, maybe 0.3kg -we'll see at the end of the week.

I have dieted successfully in the past (and kept it off for 2 years - wobbled up and back down for 2 years - in last 2 years piled on steadily to get back to starting point). On the diet I lost 1kg a week so its faster than this. I did a combo of Jane Plan, Intermittent fasting, mindful eating and a personal trainer but it required military level planning and completely separating out my eating from rest of family which annoys DH who cooks for us - and as there's a lot of other things going on I don't think I can pull this off at the moment. Hence the injections - hell yes its a short-cut! I hope - although I guess I may have to wait a month to titrate up to start seeing effects.

Jjsmum2007 · 17/01/2025 06:57

Question: does the pen contain 4 x 2.5mg so 10mg altogether? Or is it 2.5mg for the 4 weeks, so we actually have 0.6mg a week?

I assumed it was the first one, but then saw something on the instruction leaflet that said it was 0.6?

The 2.5mg is the strength. The dose is in ml not mg so whatever strength pen you have you will always get a 0.6ml dose (milliliters not micrograms). It's the strength of the medication in that dose (2.5mg up to 15mg) that changes.

The pen overall will contain 3ml of medication (0.6ml x 5 - 4 for dosing and 0.6ml for priming - some people refer to this extra 0.6ml as the bonus dose)

Thank you for clarifying, really helpful! 😁

Hi, I’m having a similar issue, not entirely the same as I am on sequential HRT, but my controlled bleed this week started early and has been horrendously heavy. I have done some detective work on other forums, and changes to menstruation, especially heavy bleeding, is definitely a thing with MJ, so even though post menopausal, the bleeding sounds very likely to be caused by MJ combined with HRT. Hopefully it will settle down, I’m only in week 2, second jab yesterday. Probably a good idea to speak to your GP as well, I told mine before starting, as I am on other meds for cardiovascular reasons and wanted to be transparent as feared interactions and side effects. Overall I’m very happy with the results I’ve had after just one week, 2kg loss, improved energy and sleep, and barely wanting a drop of my beloved red wine. I started at 93kgs, so a way to go, but it feels great so far after the past 4 years of being overweight, achey and uncomfortable. Good luck to you too.

Jins · 17/01/2025 09:43

Week one weigh in for me and as expected my actual weight is the same as is my average weight. I’m a little bit disappointed if I’m honest as I’ve eaten much less and much better and would have expected a loss based on calorie intake.

I’ll do my second jab later. The only way I’ve successfully lost in the past is by controlled carbing so although that’s going to be very difficult with my consultant imposed diet I’m going to have to try.

SW - 11st 5
CW - 11st 5
GW - 9 st

Hi,
Before starting MJ I signed up to slimming world so still following their recipes and counting syns. I’m obviously eating a lot less than I did previously. Is anyone else following slimming world diet as well as using MJ? Has it been successful?

I'm planning on starting MJ later on today when my first pen is delivered and I've already started loosely following SW for the last couple of weeks (I don't go to meetings I just know the diet from doing it on and off for years!). I tend to cook things the SW way with no oil, fat, butter etc and snack on fruit, veg, protein. My hope is the MJ will stop the cravings to eat sweets and crisps of an evening and drink wine (and then eat crap) at the weekends which has always been my downfall. I don't bother counting syns (hate that word!) but I do check the calories in everything and keep a food diary.

Il be out later when the pen is delivered so I'm hoping it comes in discreet packaging as I don't want dh or dc's knowing! It's my secret for now.

MissPobjoysPonies · 11/01/2025 10:55

So I’ve done my 3rd jab.

ive also weighed and I’m sad to say I’m disappointed! If you take my starting weight in 27/12 -13st10.6lbs, wk 2 3/1/25 - 13st 10.2lbs to wk 3 10/1/25 13st 9.2lbs. In 14 days I’ve lost 1lb 4oz whilst sticking to a calorie deficit and on mounjaro. What is going on? I have lost 7lbs since 17/12 BUT the majority of that was prior to taking M so I’m befuddled and disappointed when everyone has been having such amazing losses!

I know I shouldn’t be and I was upbeat last week about it but today I feel
a bit scammed by my own body. 🥲

shouting my klaxon and thanking the support:
GW 10-11 stone (
pre weight: 14 at 2
pre MJ loss: 5lbs (stress)
MJ SW: 13st 10.6
week 2: 13 st 10.2
week 3: 13st 9.2
WEEK 4: 13st 6 - jabbing this evening
total loss : 10lbs (1/5 of my target!)

total loss on MJ 4.5lbs (2kg) in three weeks. It was a bit of a slow start but as you can see I had lost my water weight before starting MJ.

I’m staying on 2.5mg as that’s what I accidentally ordered BUT if I lose 1-2lbs per week I will be happy with that.

the big difference I have found is that although I’m still “hungry” I’m not obsessed with eating and I’m not always searching for something to eat. I also don’t “fancy” it. I am single handedly propping up sales of celery and peppers which I’m really enjoying as a crunchy snack. Meal planning is a bit of a struggle as I just don’t really feel like I like foid but the rest of the family needs to eat!

Its the temptation that has gone, I don’t think anyone would say that I was cheating with MJ as I’m obviously dieting BUT for me it’s a bit of a handhold to keep me out of the Christmas selection boxes etc :). And being able to feel happy about it!

Although I had a weight blip last week, I would say that this is the happiest I’ve ever felt whilst restricting my calories to 1200. Literally ever.

Bugger! Post menopausal ladies I need some advice. Yes, this is MJ related. I had early menopause (around age 38) and I haven't had a proper period for about 10 years. I I'm on week 3 of MJ, and I've been taking my HRT religiously this month, I sometimes missed doses. Last night I started a period! I know weight loss can be linked to released Oestrogen but has anyone had this happen?

I've heard of loads of women's periods starting again when they've lost weight. My old SW leader got pregnant after years of trying when she lost a few stone. I think it's quite common.

Its probably just your body starting to work properly again now you're healthier!

Are you on continuous or sequential HRT?

I'm on sequential, 2.5 weeks into MJ, period was normal. I haven't lost much weight yet, 3.5lbs so maybe not enough to affect it.

As pp said though I've seen a few accounts of heavier or surprise periods.

Therealmetherealme · 17/01/2025 10:16

@alivein25 thanks. I'll monitor it and see. I actually have a called booked with a pharmacist to assess my HRT so I'll mention it.

Therealmetherealme · 17/01/2025 10:18

@Dunkou I'm on continuous and haven't had a proper period in years, even when I changed HRT or when I've stopped for a while. I'm currently on gel and tablets, but was thinking of changing to the patch.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 17/01/2025 10:31

@stilllovingmysleep I might be interested in an exercise plan. At the moment I'm doing nothing and I have a very sedentary life as I wfh. In the past I've always gone crazy with exercise on diets but I just don't feel I have it in me this time, so I want to start slow and build up. Losing weight in my 40s certainly feels different to in my 30s when I was childless and had way more energy!

Hampshiremum2 · 17/01/2025 10:42

Hey! Can I please join in, I had my first injection on 2nd Jan, started at 93.6kg and now 88.2 so 4.8kg loss which I’m chuffed with. It’s time for me to order my next pen, can anyone recommend a provider that’s less than medexpress? Xx

Hampshiremum2 · 17/01/2025 10:43

Oh also, my period is due in 2 days and I’ve had no weight loss in the last few days. Has anyone else had that?

DareDevil223 · 17/01/2025 10:48

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me joining as although I am starting on MJ this Sunday I am in a rather different position to many.

I have lost my weight on Wegovy as Mounjaro wasn't available when I started. I've lost 8.5 stone and want to lose another stone or so to get a BMI of 22/23 and then maintain. I'm in my 50s with a long history of yo-yo dieting etc like so many of us. WLI have, I believe, saved my life and I think I may well need to stay on them long-term, if not for life.

I was really concerned about the two year limit for prescribing Wegovy so I have been talking to Cloud about switching to Mounjaro. My BMI is about 25.5 currently and as advised by them I stopped talking Wegovy four weeks ago and will need to start Mounjaro on the lowest dose.

After a full consultation, some questions and providing a full body photo and evidence of my last Wegovy prescription I have been approved and will be starting Mounjaro this weekend. Cloud have been brilliant and I am so relieved not to be cut adrift without support.

After so long on Wegovy, switching to another medication will be odd and I'm wondering if it will affect me differently or if I will have different side effects (I had none on Wegovy bar some nausea and fatigue when I started it which soon stopped).

Hello, would like to join as I took my first MJ dose today, if that's ok.
i have previously used WG and lost weight well at the start but it completely tailed off - side effects went away thankfully but so also did appetite suppression! But it's a new year and a new medicine so I am very hopeful!
Was a shock to not have any needles in the MJ pack as Wegovy always had 4 needles - fortunately Amazon has filled the gap.

broccolini · 17/01/2025 11:55

Well done all with all the losses and hello to new starters...!
Really enjoying reading this thread & coming along on this ride with you all.

Just taken dose #3 and still feeling good.
Head super clear & motivated to get back to a less ball like state.

Week 1: 3.6 kg/ 7.9lb
Week 2: 1.5 kg/ 3.3lb

Total 5.1 kg/ 11.2lb in 2 weeks!
I am quite round though so not noticeable at all.

I am going to attempt to do the extra dose on week 5, so need to order some teeny needles, and have just ordered my next doses of 5mg & 7.5mg in one go.
No idea if I will move up from 5 to 7.5 until I get there, so may purchase another 5mg closer to the time.
I moved providers from Medexpress to Zava to utilise the discount thread a bit… & have now got used to sending humiliating photos to random prescribing people.

week 1 complete with a 5lb lost, hoped for more but it’s in the right direction.

5lb is bloody good I'd say!!

user1471600203 · 17/01/2025 12:21

Week one done, will inject this evening as I did last week and had no overnight side effects.

I’ve lost 2.2kg / 3lb which I’m a little disappointed with, I’ve only been slightly over my calorie limit of 1200 for 2 days (last two), prior to this I struggled to get to 1000, but I am only 5’3” so have a lower baseline. Need to up exercise to 3x per week weights and keep on with the water and protein. Great news is 2 inch loss on my hips and 2.5 inches on my waist. I can definitely feel it in my work trousers!

SW 80.6kg / 12st10
CW 79.4kg / 12st7
GW 58kg / 9st2
