Hi, my order arrived today and to say I'm nervous is an understatement!

Don't know whether to jab tonight or tomorrow. What is the best time to jab, day or night?

I'm off work now until Monday but do have an 18 month old at home with me tomorrow, I'm terrified of having awful side effects Confused

Don't be scared, just do it! Sooner you start, quicker you'll get results! You won't regret it ❤️

roughtyping · 16/01/2025 20:16

I've just done my first injection. Feeling really nervous about any side effects!

Laura7010 · 16/01/2025 20:19

Evening all,

I’m on W2D2 and have no side effects currently. First jab day 1 I felt slightly sick until lunch Time. Suppression this week is definitely greater which is good. I’ve also learnt not to plough through the feeling of fullness as it made me feel very sick! I feel like sometimes it takes a minute for my brain to catch up and I think ‘what is that feeling? Am I full?’ 😂 Then I stop eating.

SW 186lbs
CW 180lbs

SW 12 st 6½
CW 12 st 1½
GW 10 st
Week one done. Lost 5lb. Appetite levels have been exactly how I hoped- never very hungry at all but feeling a slight rumble morning and eve, able to eat 3 meals a day up to around 1200 - 1400 cals.

Tracking with Teamrh and 2 gym visits per week, and 8k steps a day. Am an office worker so getting to 8k is sometimes a challenge. No side effects so far 👍

MJ is giving us the chance to re educate our minds and bodies, we all need to get our nutrition nailed ready for when it's time to move to maintenance 💪💪💪

LillethCrane · 16/01/2025 20:38

End of W1D2. Last night I was uncharacteristically hot during the night and when I woke I was exhausted! Was really tired after work today too.

Food-wise, I ate very little during the day but felt hungry around 3pm so had some carrot sticks for a snack. I was really hungry by dinner time, and although I ate a smaller portion than normal, it was more than yesterday. I’m not getting the full feeling other people have mentioned and that worries me. I reckon I could have carried on eating! This is going to be a long lesson in retraining myself in portion control.

Sockmate123 · 16/01/2025 21:03

Can I join please? Started mounjaro on Saturday (currently on hols) can't actually wait to start it i have about 2 stone to lose...

KhakiCat · 16/01/2025 21:59

W1D2
Dose = MJ 2.5mg
Side effects = very mild burping, very mild nausea

Today is only day 2 and I've eaten out of habit/routine more than will. I am not hungry at all. Mentally, rather than physically, I want to eat at a specific time or when I want a distraction from work...

I'm going to prepare and stock up on healthy snacks for grazing throughout the day and meal prep a healthy protein-filled meal at night.

I am still struggling with motivation to exercise... Hopefully I can do better tomorrow. Onwards!

Hi,
Before starting MJ I signed up to slimming world so still following their recipes and counting syns. I’m obviously eating a lot less than I did previously. Is anyone else following slimming world diet as well as using MJ? Has it been successful?

Torturedpoetsdepartment13 · 16/01/2025 22:47

So jabbed the flab this morning for the first time. Was really worried I would be the one person who died inexplicably after 1 dose but I’m fine😂 Do feel different/weird but still managed to comfort eat pizza and crisps. Is it usual not to feel particularly suppressed on day 1? I’m worried because I don’t eat coz I’m hungry it’s usually self medication for stress. I was expecting I would not want to eat but still managed to consume a lot of rubbish. Anyone else had this experience?
any advice on what should be eating?

Me, I did a week of slimming world and lost 1.5lbs and then first week of mj and sw I lost 3.5lbs
I'm finding I can easily skip breakfast and have a small lunch, I have a normal dinner.
Usually if I skip breakfast I find I'm eating all afternoon so the mj definitely helps.
I find it much easier to follow SW, although yesterday I ate a lot of chocolate, still within syns but it was practically 50% of my food intake
Thinking about it it's not a lot of chocolate so not sure if it's mj or sw that's caused that mindset shift, I hope it continues!
I felt a bit guilty getting slimmer of the week!

TicTac80 · 17/01/2025 06:14

Week 3, Day 1!! I have just done my 3rd 2.5mg dose. Today I am:

71.75kg, 35.1% fat, 44.5% water, BMI 26.4.

On January 2nd, I was 76.2kg, with BMI 28, 36.5% fat and 43.6% water.

I've lost 2kg in the past week. So far so good, minimal symptoms/side effects. I've had the odd time where I've had a weird metallic taste and a bit of nausea.

I'm really trying to reset in my brain that these smaller portions, and eating only when hungry (and properly listening to when I feel full) are the way to go. I also need to keep on top of stopping constipation...and to increase my protein and fibre intake!!

Hope everyone is doing ok :) I'm about to head off to work. Soup (tomato and lentil) for lunch :)

Edited

My comfort eating is now almost non existent. I ate for comfort/boredom/emotional reasons.
I'm W2 D3 today
I'd say I can still eat what's in front of me but I'm less likely to put it in front of me as I'm just not thinking about it.
Hang on in there it will come.

Pandora71 · 17/01/2025 06:23

@Torturedpoetsdepartment13 i’d strongly recommend changing your diet from pizza and crisps to avoid gastro side effects. MJ plus fatty foods is a recipe for trouble!

Jjsmum2007 · 17/01/2025 06:57

Question: does the pen contain 4 x 2.5mg so 10mg altogether? Or is it 2.5mg for the 4 weeks, so we actually have 0.6mg a week?

I assumed it was the first one, but then saw something on the instruction leaflet that said it was 0.6?

stilllovingmysleep · 17/01/2025 07:28

@tinyemmy that's the main thing that has been shocking to me this week, week 1 for me on MJ: no comfort eating whatsover, no thoughts of food during the entire week, apart from normal thoughts such as 'what will I plan to eat today, what can I cook for the family, how do I get my protein in etc'

I imagine this is how thin people feel all the time. It's the way I generally feel about drugs & alcohol apart from the odd glass of wine here and there: I just couldn't care less about them. So this medicine - at least judging on how it's affected me this first year - massively cuts down on the insistent cravings / urges that all addictive behaviours involve: can we say that comfort eating / having constant carb cravings is its own kind of 'addictive' behaviour caused by hormones being all over the place due to weight gain? It's all fascinating to me and I've really been interested to see how I went from overeating continuously over the christmas months, to this!

NikkiC1975 · 17/01/2025 07:36

Hello everyone. I’m W2D7 so 3rd jab tomorrow and my provider says I should order my next pen after the third dose.
I’m doing well on 2.5 but there is some hunger sneaking in towards the end of the week.
I’m thinking of doing 3.75mg to see how I get on.

I am testing the water really as I’m due to go on quite a special holiday in early March and want to get the balance right so that I can enjoy it fully rather than stop for 2 weeks or be struggling on 5mg.
Has anyone done the half dose on 5mg? I’ve read that it’s 45 clicks of the pen rather than 60, is that right?

stilllovingmysleep · 17/01/2025 07:36

week 1 / month 1 on MJ 2.5 done! Tonight I'll do my second jab

SW: 86.7 kgs BMI 29 (Friday 10th Jan)
CW: 83.4 kgs BMI 27.9 (today)
GW: 68 kgs (BMI 22-23)

Additional bonuses this week:
no desire for alcohol, tea & coffee in afternoon whatsover
no afternoon slump, can work through appointments without feeling exhausted / sleepy
Side effects: minimal but do exist. But that's fine, it's a new medication, body is adjusting.

I have to say I'm astounded by these results though I appreciate this may be the first 'whoosh' of water etc and unbloating after holiday overeating. But still. Even under those circumstances I've never in my whole life had such a dramatic weight loss in one week.

I've been eating well: I always ate well nutrition-wise, for years I've made each morning a small meal plan for the day for me, and have aimed to stop at enough & eat when hungry. I always drink a lot of water so that's not an issue and walk quite a lot. What MJ has done is made it possible to actually follow my meal plans to the letter - they include lots of good food so I definitely didn't go starving, just ate the right things for me and some treats. It also allowed me to stop at enough & eat when hungry. My hunger was there, very low but didn't completely disappear and I don't want it to.

Next challenge: exercise. Ideas? As we go through the first weeks does anyone want to join me in starting an exercise plan? I have been doing Stepbet for years (do you know it? it's a good app to encourage walking) and that's fine for walking, but for strength training & stamina I'm thinking of going back to Body Coach (Joe Wicks) that I used to love and/or to be courageous and do the couch to 5K running plan.

Anyway. Step by step. Very pleased with my results so far.

@NikkiC1975 interesting question. I've also been doing well on 2.5 mg but only first week so hard to tell.
Have you been losing weight on 2.5? if so might it be worth staying on it rather than going up?
My sense is that having a bit of hunger towards end of week is probably not a bad thing as you're getting used to planning your meals and eating well / as needed to lose weight on various levels of hunger - good prep for maintenance phase I would say.
I have no idea about the half doses etc but will be interested to hear.

RosaBaby2 · 17/01/2025 07:43

I've stayed the same this week, I'm not disappointed I felt like it would not be a great week but calorie wise I've been fine across the week.

The scales is only a number, for me it's more about how I feel.

Just jabbed myself (jab 4), in the tummy this time again, last week I did the thigh and the suppression wasn't great, hoping it makes a difference.

Kitchenspade · 17/01/2025 07:44

Hi everyone. Hopefully starting next week! Waiting for approval hopefully today!

kmreeve · 17/01/2025 07:48

I took my first 2.5 on Tuesday lunch time, though I’d do a wee update.

food suppression seems to be there, but do need to remind myself to eat during the day otherwise I’ll be way under my calories for the day.

food noise, not sure- I think about “am I thinking about “ food - which is funny but suspect because it new and I’m overthinking everything atm.

wednesday I woke up with a sore next, towards the base of my head.. wore off over the course of the day ( iv seen other threads on this)

the teeniest of nausea- very fleeting , nothing that’s worried me.

had a cheeky step on the scales this morning ( before 💩) and I’m 2lbs down ( I stared my calories deficit diet a week before and lost 6) so not expecting to see a massive number come Tuesday

oh - and did not feel a thing with the needle jab, did it in my thigh.

millenialmolly · 17/01/2025 07:49

Plucked up the courage to take my first dose last night. Feel OK so far but fully aware that any side effects may take a few days to kick in!

Hey 😊 I lost 7.5lbs in week one, not done second weigh in yet, that’s tomorrow but I have a smart tape measure and did that this morning and have lost almost 2 inches on my waist this week!!
So, I’m losing, no real side effects and I did think about staying on 2.5 another month but my concern is that it stops being as effective and then I’m at a decision point right before my dream holiday (to South America!) where I need to have my 3rd pen and either be on a dose that’s not that effective or moving up to a dose that I potentially have nasty side effects on.
Hope I’m making sense 😊

Bugger! Post menopausal ladies I need some advice. Yes, this is MJ related. I had early menopause (around age 38) and I haven't had a proper period for about 10 years. I I'm on week 3 of MJ, and I've been taking my HRT religiously this month, I sometimes missed doses. Last night I started a period! I know weight loss can be linked to released Oestrogen but has anyone had this happen?
