@NewbieMama2024 have you tried the protein yoghurts and puddings? They are on offer at Tesco right now.

The Lindahls chocolate protein pudding would hit your sweet needs, and is really filling due to 20g protein.

Not tried the protein yoghurts, I have been having protein snacks but definitely will take a trip to Tesco if there's something that can hit the sugar need! Thanks!

mumsrthebest · 15/01/2025 21:14

@JoJothegerbil I am on day 3 too and my food noise was there today too.

I've had to come home from work as I've been sick with awful cramping again. I don't understand as I've not eaten anything dairy, anything fried, anything fatty, anything sugary (been unhealthily restrictive if anything to be honest), not eaten too much. Think it might not just be for me which I'm gutted about but can't carry on like this. Kind of annoying to spend so much money on it but honestly even though been feeling great the past few days can't deal with the random stomach issues in the hope it subsides.

@Mounjarry that sounds rubbish :-( Have you gone up to the 5 mg dose, could that be it? I've heard of people taking anti-sickness meds for this type of thing, could that be an option?

KhakiCat · 15/01/2025 21:38

Hi everyone :)

I injected my first ever 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro this evening at 6pm!

I don't know if it's psychosomatic but feel a bit of nausea, nothing noteworthy, though.

I'm so excited to start this after years of failed CICO and a horribly few months on Orlistat...

I can deal with a little nausea and diarrhea after that orange mess! Lol!

I'm combining with calorie counting, 7,000 steps per day and going to try to get better sleep...

Look forward to seeing how other January starters get on! :)

stilllovingmysleep · 15/01/2025 21:55

Good luck @KhakiCat
You're a few days after me, I just started MJ last Friday. So far so good. Some minor symptoms - some reflux and heartburn last night and took esomeprazole (from supermarket) but already better today.

W1D5 and I can really feel the appetite suppression wearing off. It’s taken real effort to ignore a bag of minstrels I found lurking in the cupboard.

No side effects so far, maybe a tiny bit of constipation. Nothing significant on the weight loss either - I’m currently 0.4lbs below start weight and expect to be finishing up on Friday with no change. I’m not bothered too much as it’s very early days and with a BMI of 27.5 I wasn’t expecting huge losses. What I am pleased about is that the weekly 1-2lb weight gain that I’ve seen since mid-November hasn’t taken place and that’s good news.

Second jab due 4pm on Friday and hoping that appetite suppression kicks in quickly

Mounjaro twin here! W1D5 too and today is the first day I’ve had some hunger and gone slightly over my calorie limit too. Not drank as much water as I should but I’ve had ofsted and I’m blaming that partially! Jab due Friday too.

Kibble29 · 15/01/2025 22:48

Pandora71 · 15/01/2025 20:04

I’ve been shocked I’m still feeling able to function on low calories and not craving food even on a very low dose. I’d originally planned to go up to 2.5 but if it continues to work enough for me to be losing weight then I’m planning to stick with what I’m doing.

There is some element of willpower involved but not a lot! I’ve had one day of being hungry (oddly the day after my second dose) and one challenge with eating out, and one gastro issue as a consequence of one slice of dominoes…. But all in all, I’ve got compete confidence I could keep this up if I can maintain the current experience.

Wow.

Is that an app you’re using to track? I’ve been looking for one like that if you’d share the name?

Pandora71 · 15/01/2025 23:07

@Kibble29 Shotsy. Does everything I need and clean and free

ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned · 16/01/2025 00:21

I’m nearly at the end of week 3, I’m doing my 4th jab on Friday. For some reason I haven’t got any notifications this week so have missed most of the thread!!

I’ve definitely been hungrier this week than previously, but I’m getting into the swing of it now. I still feel pretty turned off by bad foods which is great-my dd is autistic and lives on pasta and baked potatoes. Today she wanted veggie fingers and curly fries for the first tome
since before Christmas, and just cooking them turned my tummy. I’m all about the fruit and veggies however-I practically salivated over a grilled chicken breast with spinach today, followed by natural yoghurt and honey and am now having an apple and some peanut butter. Having nearly three weeks where the thought of food repulsed me seems to have totally re-started my body’s food choices, which has given me so much hope for the future post-MJ.

At the moment I am having a bowl of porridge with berries and raisins for breakfast, a protein yoghurt for lunch, a slice of toast about 3/4pm and grilled chicken with veg for tea. I’m also cutting up fruit in the morning and dipping in to it during the day, and am also snacking on plum tomatoes.

Starting weight on 29th December was 85.7kgs.
15th January 80.1kgs!!

I have scales that link to an app. When I first started there were so many red areas (body fat, BMI, Weight, subcutaneous fat), and now they are all orange! This is so exciting!

Usernamesarenoteasy · 16/01/2025 06:25

Morning all. Today is jab 3 day!
Week 2, no real side effects noticeable, other than trapped wind on days 6 & 7. Which is quite painful!
I don't feel the suppression was as strong this week, but still easy enough to just stick to three meals, no snack. In fact I think it was probably better as was eating a better amount of calories, I'm aiming for 1200 minimum per day.

Stats Time!
SW - 214.3lbs
CW after week 2 - 200.2lbs
GW - 168lbs

I'm actually up half a pound since yesterday, which I'm not at all worried about, but I am kind of hoping the weight loss will slow down a bit as I do feel it's quite fast at the moment. Although obviously I am happy!
However I'm just getting to the weight where I always seem to get stuck when I diet, so looking forward to seeing what happens in week three.

FCforMounjaro · 16/01/2025 07:05

Morning !

I had my 1st jab on Tuesday night. Felt a bit hot overnight, work up a bit achy and had slight nausea all day but other than that - feel fine. Definitely had some suppression yesterday, had 1000 calories. I’ve been 1-2 stone overweight for over 20 years- feel like this is my chance.

I used Voy, I really didn’t want my local practice to know for various reasons but I work in the nhs so feel confident I could get anything checked if need to quickly, there’s quite a few of us considering/ starting so no judgement there.
Does anyone know of a way to get a reduced price ? I’ll post my discount code on the other thread. I think next dose is £169 but I’m wiling to pay that to remain private.

SW 12,2
GW 9.12

good luck everyone !

BreezyPeer · 16/01/2025 08:13

Just had my 2nd jab today!
I feel fine, no food noise at all so I am wondering if that will change?

@user1471600203 it’s good to have a Mounjaro twin. I’ve woken up feeling as if the appetite suppression is still there but it’s still quite early 😆. I’ve got a lot on today so hopefully I’ll be suitably distracted.

Waffles21 · 16/01/2025 08:52

Morning everyone, I did my second jab this morning.
I started on 1/1 but my jabs didn’t arrive until last Thursday so my first week was without and was my big loss ( 7 pounds), I do think that was largely water and my body being relieved I wasn’t stuffing my face with Christmas stuff!

sw 16 stone 3.5
cw 15 stone 7.5
gw 11 stone 10

I’ve lost 3 pounds this week which I’m pleased with. I forgot to take my measurements at the beginning so measured last Friday and I’ve lost 2 cm on my waist as of today.

My summary from week 1 is that I definitely haven’t had the same food noise, I’ve definitely been making better choices and I’ve wanted to and done more exercise consciously. I have previously lost lots of weight on both weight watchers and fast 800 but this feels nowhere near as restrictive and much more sustainable as a way of life. I’ve also just ordered Atomic Habits by James Clear in the hope I can break my bad habits for good!

Lynca · 16/01/2025 09:33

Morning all.

My first pen is due to arrive tomorrow, but I've decided to hold off on my first injection until next Friday. I've got a rare date night with my husband on Saturday night so don't want to risk feeling unwell with side effects for that, and figured I could give myself a head start getting into better habits re. water intake and upping my steps before getting on with the jabs.
I know some recommend taking supplements to help avoid some of the potential side effects, and noticed Boots have half price on their vitamins and supplements today only. Can anyone recommend which supplements are worth taking?

RockyisMYRhino · 16/01/2025 09:35

Just found this thread! Have done my second jab today which was a bit of a relief as I found the suppression had worn off a bit the last couple of days and the food noise was a bit harder to ignore - managed to ignore it most of the time though. I've managed to lose 4lbs this week which I'm quite happy with although not sure if that's because of the jab or because I've been conscious of portion sizes more.

3rd dose today. I’ve lost 1lb this week

SW 14st 7.5lb

GW 10st

need to get my next pen ordered - I’m thinking to go up to 5mg for this one now

ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned · 16/01/2025 09:50

I’ve ordered my 5ml pen and it should be arriving today. I’m with e-surgery and they have been absolutely brilliant. Both pens I have ordered have been dispatched within 24 hours, and you get extra needles etc just in case. I’ll be sticking with them throughout.

I’m a bit nervous about going up to 5ml as 2.5ml is working so well. I hope it is ok!

Aren't you supposed to stay on the lower dose if it's working for you though? That was my understanding.

Im supposed to be getting my first pen delivered today, feeling quite excited.

Grecianrainbow · 16/01/2025 09:59

I was on the fence about going up after one pen - but they are the same price, and I’ve found by day 5 I am feeling the urge to reach for snacks etc. if it’s too much I’ve seen people mention to count clicks to do a halfway dose

Jins · 16/01/2025 10:04

I’ve only had one dose so far and I already know I’ll be moving to 5mg. I’m getting appetite suppression, eating far less than I did and no snacks but I’ve lost half a pound so far and don’t expect anything dramatic for my 7 day weigh in tomorrow so my weekly average will be 1/2lb at best. I’ve always lost well in week one in the past but I’m not disappointed as I’m in it for the long haul.

ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned · 16/01/2025 10:18

@JoanCollinsDiva , the 2.5 is just a therapeutic dose, so is just meant to prepare your body for being on the actual 5mg dose. I have definitely been more hungry this week (week 3), so think I’m ready to move up.

Changingnameagain · 16/01/2025 10:23

Checking in as I'm at end of week 2 and due to do jab 3 this evening.
No movement on scales for few days- but I haven't had a BM in 3 days so not surprising.
15lbs down in 2 weeks.

I don't think I will be continuing the mounjaro journey.

After taking the first dose Monday and been horrendously ill Tuesday with sickness. I felt better yesterday but then last night started with a terrible headache, stomach pains all night with nausea and going hot all the time. Literally can't eat a thing or I'm going to be sick. Struggled getting my kids to school as I felt like at any moment I would have sickness or diarrhea. Thankfully I work from home but it's still effecting my work as I have to keep stopping to go to the loo (tmi sorry) and concentrating with the horrendous headache is not good.

Don't think I can risk continuing to feel this bad and not sure it's worth it. Think I will just have to try continue my weightloss journey without anything.
Disappointed as I feel like I've done this to myself and also disappointed at the waste of money, and I was so hopeful this would be the trick to finally lose weight 😔
