I took my first jab around 7pm last night and I’ve not eaten yet. I’m not at all hungry, but I’ve drank 3 cups of tea with milk (out of habit more than anything else).

I’m thinking I should eat something, but I’m worried about bad habits as I’ve always been able to eat, even if I’m not hungry- hence being so overweight. I’m worried if I do that on Mounjaro, I won’t have learned anything at all.

Ridiculously over thinking, and it’s only day 1…

notanothernamechange24 · 15/01/2025 14:21

Second injection just done. Lost 4lbs this week. No major side effects. Definitely got the sulphur burps at night. Not had a huge deal of suppression so far. But have definitely snacked less and been far more conscious of what I'm eating. Maybe a little less hungry so hopeful it will begin to work well for me.

Cornishbelle · 15/01/2025 14:38

Can I ask for a few examples of people's daily eating please? I'm on day 7 (second jab tonight) and I experienced suppression at the start but last two three days it has worn off! I think I need some sort of plan to keep me on the straight and narrow, can't see anything particularly recommended aside from calorie counting and higher protein? Any suggestions welcome I feel very much a newbie

Dunkou · 15/01/2025 14:38

@Mounjarry I had bad side effects first 2 jabs. Did third jab yesterday with no bad effects at all though admittedly it was only 1.6mg.

I've been taking esomeprazole (just from Sainsbury's) , rennies and a rehydration sachet drink every day, along with sensible food. And trying to keep up the water. I think a lot of my issues were dehydration along with finding 2.5mg very strong.

My effects were severe nausea and trapped wind and pretty bad constipation. I didn't have diarrhoea though.

Usernamesarenoteasy · 15/01/2025 14:44

Anyone else suffering with trapped wind?
It is SO painful!
What can I take for it that will give me quick relief?
I've never had it before so want to try something that actually works.

Peppermint tea helped to ease gastro issues for me, and also lying on my back and pulling one leg into my chest while stretching the other out, then swap to the other leg and repeat. This only lasted a day with me and those things did help!

Usernamesarenoteasy · 15/01/2025 16:25

@emmsyg I have peppermint tea! So will try both of those now, thank you.

I've had to come home from work as I've been sick with awful cramping again. I don't understand as I've not eaten anything dairy, anything fried, anything fatty, anything sugary (been unhealthily restrictive if anything to be honest), not eaten too much. Think it might not just be for me which I'm gutted about but can't carry on like this. Kind of annoying to spend so much money on it but honestly even though been feeling great the past few days can't deal with the random stomach issues in the hope it subsides.

That’s a real shame. Do you mind me asking if you have a lot of stress in your life?

I know when I did I ended up with stomach ulcers. Maybe you aren’t in the right condition for the medication at the moment but I would ask your GP for omeprazole to see if that settles your stomach enough for you to continue?

Good luck.

emmsyg · 15/01/2025 16:29

Yeah its really good for any feelings of nausea too I found!

Oh no sorry to hear this. If it's something that keeps happening then it definitely isn't good to keep going.

Ive been feeling better today but really scared the sickness comes back, so almost scared to even eat.

I do feel like if I end up having more days like yesterday, then I won't attempt another dose.

I hope you feel better soon!

Thats such a shame. Are you constipated or could it be wind? What medication have you tried to ease it? Are you eating enough, regularly?

Jins · 15/01/2025 16:49

W1D5 and I can really feel the appetite suppression wearing off. It’s taken real effort to ignore a bag of minstrels I found lurking in the cupboard.

No side effects so far, maybe a tiny bit of constipation. Nothing significant on the weight loss either - I’m currently 0.4lbs below start weight and expect to be finishing up on Friday with no change. I’m not bothered too much as it’s very early days and with a BMI of 27.5 I wasn’t expecting huge losses. What I am pleased about is that the weekly 1-2lb weight gain that I’ve seen since mid-November hasn’t taken place and that’s good news.

Second jab due 4pm on Friday and hoping that appetite suppression kicks in quickly

AmythestBangle · 15/01/2025 17:00

@cornishbelle just do Nutracheck and then you can eat what you like within the calorie count. You can link you Fitbit etc to it as well.

iremembersnappedandfarted · 15/01/2025 17:23

Hi all. After much deliberation, I signed up to Medexpress and took my first dose on Sunday. I've got 3 stone to lose and would love to achieve this by July.
No real side effects so far but not any suppression either....

Any suggestions for a good set of bathroom scales? Mine have a 6lb swing depending on where they're sat on my (hopefully level and not very old) tiled floor.

Maybe will just have to go through the motions for the month and hope that 5mg has an effect next month.

Or has anyone not felt suppression week 1 but then felt more of an affect with subsequent 2.5mg doses?

Sorry for long post but wishing all January starters all the best for good losses in 2025!

mumsrthebest · 15/01/2025 18:24

@LillethCrane Make sure you eat something...you can't run on empty. Try and get some protein down you if you can.

mumsrthebest · 15/01/2025 18:29

@Cornishbelle I am in WK1D3 and have felt suppression for the past two days but today not so much and it has been quite hard. I have still eaten well but definitely more food noise today.

Mounjarry · 15/01/2025 18:31

Therealmetherealme · 15/01/2025 16:48

Ive tried everything, for some it'd be manageable but I think as my bmi only just over 30 the side effects are outweighing the benefits for me personally.

I am gutted but still think it's amazing and wishing you all luck on your journeys!

mumsrthebest · 15/01/2025 18:35

@iremembersnappedandfarted Hi, we started out MJ journey the same day! I want to lose roughly 2 stone. I have found it good so far up until today where I have noticed I have had a bit of food noise and my portion size has been bigger.

iremembersnappedandfarted · 15/01/2025 19:35

@mumsrthebest heyyy! Great to hear you felt some benefits from dose one. I guess it's case of taking each day & week as they come and hope that we reach our goals fairly quickly xx

UnderandOverwhelmed · 15/01/2025 19:59

@therealmetherealme well done to you as well! We can be jab buddy's!

Pandora71 · 15/01/2025 20:04

I’ve been shocked I’m still feeling able to function on low calories and not craving food even on a very low dose. I’d originally planned to go up to 2.5 but if it continues to work enough for me to be losing weight then I’m planning to stick with what I’m doing.

There is some element of willpower involved but not a lot! I’ve had one day of being hungry (oddly the day after my second dose) and one challenge with eating out, and one gastro issue as a consequence of one slice of dominoes…. But all in all, I’ve got compete confidence I could keep this up if I can maintain the current experience.

Wow.

JANUARY 2025 Starters - Thread 2!!!
NewbieMama2024 · 15/01/2025 20:08

I'm half way through my 2nd week - first week I lost 4.5lb, really hoping for 2.5 this week to get my half stone, but also trying to not put too much pressure on myself!

SW 263.5 lb
CW 259 lb
TW hmm TBC!

Currently on the starting 2.5mg dosage, but still feeling like I want a sweet treat every now and then & getting hungry between meals, so definitely think I'll look to up it to 5mg for month 2.

Zempy · 15/01/2025 20:22

@NewbieMama2024 have you tried the protein yoghurts and puddings? They are on offer at Tesco right now.

The Lindahls chocolate protein pudding would hit your sweet needs, and is really filling due to 20g protein.

JoJothegerbil · 15/01/2025 20:43

W1D3. I had an uncomfortable night after my 3 course lunch yesterday. Won't be eating that much in a hurry again even though, compared to previous lunches, it wasn't huge and I didn't finish it all.

I've felt slightly hungrier today but have been able to ignore any cravings quite easily. Today has come in at just over 1100 calories. I need to up my protein and fibre though.

DGonMJ · 15/01/2025 20:56

@iremembersnappedandfarted i have Renpho body fat scales which i bought off Amazon.
