W1D2 for me. Went out for lunch with work. Three courses and I couldn’t finish the main. I’m still stuffed now and we ate at 2pm. Not sure I’m going to bother with dinner.

Has anyone else noticed a horrid taste in their mouth? I drink lots of water anyway so I don’t think it’s lack of fluid. I had this when I took Wegovy last year and I can’t remember being able to get rid of it. It only went when I stopped the jab due to persistent diarrhoea. So far no issues in that front but it’s early days.

Bad taste in mouth here! Though it has eased today. Did very first injection on Saturday night and a lot of things I like tasted/taste different, a bit metallic or sour or something.

Thelittlestranger · 14/01/2025 22:04

I have not felt great today. Not huge, but noticeable only because it's the first time for me and this is my 3rd week.

Couldn't eat, felt so full, heartburn and burps, slight nausea. The clear protein drink I forced myself to have did not help. Made myself eat a very bland, small meal of fish fingers and chips as I couldn't face anything else and I felt SO much better. Have still only had 900 cals today (and done a half hour gym session)

Onwards...

TicTac80 · 15/01/2025 07:16

The weird taste is awful! I actually thought I was imagining things and kept brushing my teeth or chewing gum to counteract it!

Down to 71.75kg this morning. I went to have a brunch at a friend’s place yesterday. I couldn’t finish what was on my plate (scrambled eggs, bacon, avo and two pieces of toast). My friend was shocked. Before I would have been able to eat that without a problem. Thank goodness we went for a good long walk afterwards! Think that really helped me from feeling sick.

Therealmetherealme · 15/01/2025 07:31

@kmreeve what a shame. I ordered Boxing Day and it arrived quickly. I've just ordered a 5mg and it arrived next day. It shows how many people decided New Year, New Me!

Therealmetherealme · 15/01/2025 07:32

Is the bad taste in the mouth similar to the sulphur burps, linked to the slow gastric emptying?

That's very encouraging @TicTac80 , going out to restaurants and travel have always been my 2 areas where I massively overindulge. So it's good to hear you had such a good experience

Today I have a leaving do at work, have prepared a small packed lunch to have with me, to have instead but I will have nibbles at the leaving do as well - I feel quite confident I won't be tempted much because I feel quite bloated & full even though it's first thing in the morning

stilllovingmysleep · 15/01/2025 07:44

Quick update from me, today it's day 5 / week 1

One of the thoughts I've had is that now that we're taking these medications, we are all observing our bodies so much, and I wonder if a lot of the physical changes we are experiencing would have been ignored under other circumstances. That's not to say the WLI don't have side effects, they certainly do with me (very mild manageable ones so far) but there are also body changes that are happening, some of which may even be positive.

Eg yesterday I had a hotness & slight redness to my face and researched this (on Chat GPT which can be really helpful! - I've asked it to be an expert on MJ and weight loss 😁) and apparently MJ causes the pancreas to handle insulin much better meaning that then there can a mild improvement in circulation: which is a good thing! but can lead to temporary redness / hotness. I mention this as I wonder if some of the changes we are experiencing are simply adjusting to a different homeostasis rather than not necessarily all bad for us.

cloudjumper · 15/01/2025 07:44

So I finished Week 2 and lost 1 kg.... hmph. I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed ☹️ that's a total of 3 kg in 2 weeks. I've been super-careful, always eating within my daily calories, lots of protein, lots of water etc. I had hoped for a bit more off!
Hey-ho. Onwards and upwards. Did my 3rd injection last night, so all I can do for now is continue. At least it's a sustainable loss.

Mounjarry · 15/01/2025 07:46

3kg is 2 weeks is amazing though. It's easy to get lost in the big losses people have in the first few weeks, but imagine if you'd lost 3kg in a fortnight prior to this? I'm sure you'd be really proud, and you should be! Nearly half a stone

cloudjumper · 15/01/2025 07:50

@stilllovingmysleep that's interesting. I have noticed that since starting mj, I have felt much colder - which in my menopausal state is extremely welcome! So cold in fact that we finally changed to the winter duvet and closed the bedroom window last weekend, when it was so cold! I've seen others say the same on the mj Facebook group I'm on.

DGonMJ · 15/01/2025 07:55

Week 2 day 4 today and I’ve lost a little bit of what I gained, still not down to my end of week 1 low but glad numbers heading back in the right direction. My body fat scales reckon I’ve lost 0.1% body fat since Sunday…so if I’ve lost fat and gained weight, that’s gotta be muscle right? (Its probably food stuck in my now slower gut…but l’ll pretend it’s muscle)

SW 79.6kg
CW 75.9kg (was 75.5 on Sunday)
GW 65kg

Jab three done and 3lbs lost in week 2, which I'm pleased with.

Zempy · 15/01/2025 08:11

End of week 1.

SW: 13:7
CW: 13:0
5ft 4 and age 59.

Really pleased with half a stone lost in first week, although I accept a lot of it will be water lost.

I am ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!! So there’s an added cost in heating, but it’s my fingers and toes that are the worst. I might have to put gloves on today.

Off to the shops today to stock up on protein snacks.

Seaitoverthere · 15/01/2025 08:17

I’m on W3D5 and current loss to date is 4.8lbs which is exactly bang on for what my calorie deficit has been as measured by my Fitbit and Nutracheck (my Fitbit calorie burn is adjusted up by 10% as seems to underestimate calorie burn).

Nothing that I couldn’t have achieved and have achieved without Mounjaro but it has been a much much more pleasant experience. Very stressful week with elderly relative abroad in hospital with pneumonia, speaking to my cousin frequently and monitoring situation as to whether I should bring my flight forward which I think in the past would have had me thinking sod it in food front but didn’t.

I’ve been losing weight since November 2023 so the initial water loss phase is well gone and I don’t really get that big loss in the first couple of weeks thing anyway. Yesterday I ate about 1685 cals and am on track for ending the week at calorie deficit of 1.5lbs which is a level I am happy at and hopefully with some weights will minimise muscle loss as much as possible .I’m very close now to a 3 stone loss since I started losing weight back in 2023 and really noticing the difference now.

Walked 2 miles without stopping which doesn’t sound much but is the most I have done since my hip replacement which was 6 months ago. For a fleeting moment I thought maybe I should think about returning to running in a few months time then gave my head a wobble and decided I value my new hip too much than to risk an early revision.

Seaitoverthere · 15/01/2025 08:18

@Zempy I would be lost without my electric blanket which is pretty cheap to run!

BreezyPeer · 15/01/2025 08:37

First week finished and lost 5lbs! I am happy with that.

If you continue at this rate you will have lost 6 kgs in a month which is amazing and very sustainable

Newyearnewmewoooop · 15/01/2025 10:03

Just started yesterday on Wegovey, not noticing any changes in appetite yet!

QueenBarbs · 15/01/2025 10:10

Day 3 for me, thankfully feeling better after yesterday's horrendous sickness. Managed to keep water down over night, so had a cup of tea and some toast this morning. So fingers crossed I keep that down and things are looking up.

FattyBumBumNoMore · 15/01/2025 10:22

W1D6. Actually feeling a bit peckish this morning for the first time. I can take that to be honest as I need to remember what willpower is. Touch wood, no side effects. 4lbs down as of this morning in my first week. On top of the 5lb I lost over Christmas with the flu lurgy I feel good!
5’ 3”, 53 yo, now 17st 9lb. My little manta to myself this year is…. If not now, when?

cloudjumper · 15/01/2025 10:30

@stilllovingmysleep You are absolutely right, thanks!

My spreadsheet tells me that I have dropped a whole BMI point, from 34.8 to 33.8 - if that's not a win, what is?! 🎉

Therealmetherealme · 15/01/2025 11:38

@UnderandOverwhelmed Well done. It looks like we're on a similar path.

Week 3 jab this morning for me. No side effects last week, but no big food aversion either. Lots of willpower to stop snacking but doing well. Under 3lb loss for the week which is a little disappointing, especially as I've kept in my calories and not had any chocolate or treats but it's in the right direction.

I've had to come home from work as I've been sick with awful cramping again. I don't understand as I've not eaten anything dairy, anything fried, anything fatty, anything sugary (been unhealthily restrictive if anything to be honest), not eaten too much. Think it might not just be for me which I'm gutted about but can't carry on like this. Kind of annoying to spend so much money on it but honestly even though been feeling great the past few days can't deal with the random stomach issues in the hope it subsides.

TheTwinklyBlueTiger · 15/01/2025 14:02

Hello everyone, just wondering if I can jump on this thread too as looking for people on the same journey. I ordered mine on 27th December, but I only got brave enough to jab last Wednesday on the 8th January. I'd read too many horror stories of side effects 😬.

I have a lot of weight to lose, but this is it for me now. Its going!

Since starting I have also changed my diet and exercise. I have reduced my carb and dairy intake (I'm sensitive to gluten and dairy so was a good idea for me anyway) upped my protein and fruit and veg intake, and drinking a lot more water, i've also cut out the rubbish - crisps, sweets, chocolate, cake, fizzy drinks. I'm also aiming for the days when I'm not at work to walk over 10,000 steps. I've set up the treadmill so I have been using that and going for walks outside when the weather let's me. I work shift work and do 12,000-17,000 steps on those days and work 13 hours so not using the treadmill those days.

I weighed myself this morning before I took my 2nd jab and have lost 10lb.

I felt pretty nauseous and lethargic 4 hours after taking my first jab which lasted until the next morning, but I'm feeling OK so far after my 2nd. I have had GI issues for years since having my gallbladder removed in 2017, and being diagnosed with IBS, weirdly, my 'usual' symptoms have actually improved this past week! I was terrified my already troubled guts would react badly.

Glad to find some other people on this journey at the same time!

ReginaaPhalangee · 15/01/2025 14:05

Hello alll. I took the plunge and ordered from Medexpress. Sent them pictures of me and my id so just waiting for them to carry out their verification checks.

Scared. I've lost weight but I cannot shift the last 2 stone to take me into healthy bmi. No matter what I've done. It's not shifted so I'm praying this works.
