ready to take my first jab! Should I take it before or after dinner??

stilllovingmysleep · 13/01/2025 18:55

@keeponplodding7 good luck! I took my first one last Friday, just before a small dinner, in the evening

Not sure there's a right or wrong but others might know more

With regards to maintenance, I’m currently working my way through the Beck Diet Solution. It uses CBT to help you amend your thought patterns to stop you going down the same eating paths over and over. Today’s lesson was about cravings - recognising them and dealing with them.
I’ve tried doing the course before but always give up. Not because it’s hard but basically because before, deep down, I think I didn’t really want to amend my behaviours. This time I’m putting habits into place to keep me going on it.

Thanks for the heads up. Tried to amend but deleted before I got to it. I know for the future though.

Just checking in, day 13 (started New Year’s Day) 8lb down.
(SW 20st)
inital side effects (burps, bloating, iffy tummy) seem to have subsided thank goodness
so far, so good.

JoJothegerbil · 13/01/2025 19:50

Day 1 done.

I already seem to have good suppression and managed a slice of toast and Bovril for breakfast, a small bowl of leftover beef stew for lunch and some basa with roasted veg for dinner. Calorie wise it’s roughly 1000.

I’ve drink lots of water (which I do anyway) and haven’t been hungry at all. I have had an annoying headache all day but paracetamol has helped.

I’ve got a 3 course work lunch tomorrow so am going to choose wisely and probably won’t manage all of it if my appetite has been like it’s been today.

Merlinsparks · 13/01/2025 19:55

Did my first jab today after receiving a few days ago. Never been more hungry 🤦‍♀️
Did anyone else experience that?
Hoping I’m just over thinking it 😂

millenialmolly · 13/01/2025 20:33

Hi, I ordered from MedExpress Friday morning just gone and still no dispatch. Really eager to get going! Those who ordered through the same company, how long has it been taking to arrive?

Thelittlestranger · 13/01/2025 20:39

@millenialmolly think it depends on if it's your first or not. My first dose, ordered before Christmas took a week from order, approval to arrival. Second dose I received the next day.

Week 3, day 2 which, according to shotsy, is when my levels are at their highest. And that feels about right. Yesterday and today are the first days when I have had to stop eating my meal before finishing. Admittedly, I've been putting less on my plates over the last few weeks but today I have not only not cared about food, but when eating I've wanted to eat less.

At times I've felt slight nausea, but only for a few minutes.

Ordered Wednesday night and arrived Saturday morning

edited to say that was my first order on starter dose

TwinklyUmberTurtle · 13/01/2025 20:51

Advice needed - I’ve got my starter dose and was going to take it this Friday evening. We have an anniversary dinner booked for Feb 8th 6 course tasting meal with wine pairing…. Should I delay starting?

Soooooooverthisnow · 13/01/2025 20:52

Week 1 Day 3 - I think I've been more hungry today. Could this be because the small dose is wearing off? I took the first one on Friday evening.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 13/01/2025 21:18

Wk 3, day 1 - lost nothing last week...I've got to try and eat more but I've struggled to eat my dinner tonight. I'm staying on 2.5ml for another month, have already ordered my pen from MedExpress. Will see how it goes.
On a more positive note someone at work asked me if I'm on a diet because my face looks thinner - It's just a shame it wasn't my stomach, thighs or arse!!😂

Onthego25 · 13/01/2025 21:29

Had 2nd jab on Saturday and got hit with the 'upset stomach' side effect Sunday and today. Hope it settles tomorrow. Bit unsure whether to jab again on Saturday, I have meetings I have to be at next week. I seem v reactive to it, both the advantages and the disadvantages!

Chopsticks888 · 13/01/2025 21:33

I’ve started this January so though I’d jot down my experiences. I’m on W2 D3 now. Only noticeable side effect is feeling very tired the day of the injection. I’m injecting Saturday morning so may move to Friday evening to see if it helps. Felt absolutely no different for first 24 hours and thought I must’ve messed it up somehow, but then after that stopped feeling hungry. No other negative side effects at all yet, if anything feel more energetic and positive than usual and very much enjoying all the healthy moderate sized meals I’m eating. So far so good and much better than I was expecting.

Laura7010 · 13/01/2025 21:46

I think I’ve eaten too much and I feel sick! I had lasagne (quorn) with a few chips and sprouts. I could’ve stopped after about 2/3 but my brain tells me to clear the plate still. I will need to dish out smaller portions I think. Or should I try and retrain my brain to leave something?!

BigFatty · 13/01/2025 21:53

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining!

Day 3 for me on first jab. Still starving but I know it's early days. Trying my best to not eat as much as normal and logging on MFP.

Start weight - 222lbs at height 5ft4!

Goodluck everyone - loving reading the losses x

Glad it’s going well! How long did it take for your side effects to subside? I had my first dose yesterday and going through exactly the same right now - bloating, stomach cramps, burps! 😖

Fruitbatdancer · 13/01/2025 22:10

After first jab I had side effects for about 3 days, after second jab only about 24 hours, so I’m kinda hoping it gets less each time..

I did the same with a beef stew yesterday! Couldn't move afterwards.

I can't bare to think of wasting food. Like you, it's been hard coded into me. I'm going to try and recondition my brain to serve smaller meals and buy less.

Saving food waste by leaving it in the shop rather then in my belly! 😂

Seaitoverthere · 14/01/2025 04:31

One thing I read that has helped me a bit is that the food is wasted whether you eat it or not which struck home and now I would rather it not be wasted in me !

Changingnameagain · 14/01/2025 06:47

Another pound and a bit off so total loss now 15lb in under 2 weeks.
I'm already starting to notice (or perhaps being paranoid( where I'm going to have loose skin. And not sure how best to tackle that....
I think I'm going to need to invest in some more exercise equipment to help me work on those areas as kettle bells aren't going to help with inner thigh really.
Any suggestions welcome!! I remember someone mentioned a resistance band before so I will order one as can't find mine from 10 years ago!

Thank you @mounjaromum that is a good idea re delivery to a collection box or similar. Wasn't sure if anywhere would offer this due to need for cold storage but good to know med express do!
