Welcome all December 2024 starters, and November and January starters too😊. As we're almost at the end of the first thread, I thought to start a new one before it finishes.

I am roughly eating 2000 cals a day - I started over 19 stone though - I read that if i can stay at 2000 cals it will take me to 13 stone which would be amazing for me and no point going lower as I would never be able to eat less without the meds - I am still on 2.5mg stayed on it an extra month and have 2 doses to go before I move up to 5mg

Trying to walk 10-15k steps per day and weight train 3 times a week to try and preserve muscle and strength

I have been very tired and have noticeably lost strength - only other side effect is constipation which I manage with fibogel and fluids - have low thyroid and am getting bloods done Friday as my GP wants to ascertain if I need my thyroxine adjusted if the montjaro is affecting absorption

SW 19.7
CW 17.9
GW 13 ish

Hello, well done getting through my ridiculously long overshare update 😂

I'd love an MJ twin! I cannot do low carb either, I blooming love my carbs so I just calorie count. Have you done a lot of exercise? I do want to up my protein more so I've bulk ordered some shakes as I know my diet isn't getting enough. Sounds like your protein intake is brilliant.

The perfect balance is what we want on MJ :-)

The kidney infection sounds utterly vile, I really hope you're better soon. I guess if you get them a lot, it's not caused by MJ?

How tall are you? I'm 166cm (5' 5"/6")

TrinityWaves · 15/01/2025 21:14

Anyone got any cool storage options for MJ - at home or travel?

I thought this looked quite cool on Etsy... https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1848677493

I have heard some of the newer pens are set to not administer the dose even if you force the pen. A lot of people use diabetic needles to draw the dose out and inject. Mine did work with force, but I have needles as a backup.

Pretty sure you must use the pen contents within 30 days of first piercing the pen seal though.

Thanks, it did cross my mind that they've changed the design of the pen to prevent this. And yes, was aware they have to be used within a month of opening.
If I can pluck up the courage to buy needles and it's still within date, I'll use it as a top-up and stall my next shot of 5 a few days.
Where did you buy needles, and are they trickier/more painful?

Checking in. I joined thread one early on as I started my Mounjaro journey on 1st December but haven’t posted for a while.

I did 6 weeks of 2.5mg but started to notice the food noise coming back in the last week so upped it to 3.75mg which is working really well so I plan on staying at that until the effects lessen. I used an insulin needle to withdraw 0.9ml from a 2.5mg pen to get the 3.75mg - I don’t feel safe relying on clicks so would prefer to do it this way. No massive side effects so I’m feeling lucky when reading about some of the troubles people are having here.

I weighed this morning and have broken the 100kg barrier which feels really good so wanted to share.

SW 17st / 108kg
CW 15st 9,7lbs / 99.5kg
GW 13st / 82.5kg

JunoRoma · 16/01/2025 07:43

After 5 weeks on 2.5mg then 2 weeks (so far) on 3.75mg:

SW 107kg (BMI 39.3)
CW 94.5kg (BMI 34.7 🥳)
GW 75kg

Loss this week: 1kg (despite all the cheese)
Total loss so far: 12.5kg

Very happy to be leaving the Class II obesity zone.

JunoRoma · 16/01/2025 07:44

@DiggityDawg well done for getting under 100kg!

Izzieloo · 16/01/2025 08:04

Hi I started on wegovy have now changed and gone to Mounjaro. There seems to be a bit left in the syringe how do people manage to get it out please ?

Slimwannabe · 16/01/2025 09:50

@WittyLimeBiscuit I haven't tested the needles yet as my pen did release the final dose (thank goodness, not sure that I'm ready!) I ordered BBraun Omnican U-100 1ml 30g insulin syringes from SHD medical, which were suggested on another thread. The big thing I saw repeated was not to buy needles from Amazon.

Thanks, yes, I've also seen warnings about buying them on Amazon, and definitely don't want to take any risks

Has anyone else felt really depressed the day after the jab? Every Monday without fail I feel completely devoid of motivation, really teary, and overwhelmed... but right as rain on Tuesday onwards! My provider is sticking me at 5mg while we wait to see if the malaise dissipates, just not a side effect I'm aware of.

Yes, for the first two days after taking a jab. Takes me double the time to get going in the morning.
Managed over Christmas as I could work from home and nap. But I've really been struggling the last couple of weeks. So you're not alone!

Sorry that you are suffering with it too! I'm hoping as I get more used to the MJ it'll stop, I almost called in sick on Monday I felt so rubbish!

Yes to the Lindahls! Only protein yogurt thing I can stomach. There's an M&S one with granola that's like eating overly sweet cement - foul! I like the Sainsbury's Flourish salt and pepper crunch for throwing into salad for a protein boost, and am adding edamame to almost everything! 🤣

BigTightropeWalker · 17/01/2025 06:23

I've been getting REALLY bad headaches lately. I'm trying to drink lots but maybe need to drink more? Does anyone know if this is likely to be dehydration due to less food consumption etc, or can the medication itself cause this regardless of hydration levels?

glittermittens · 17/01/2025 06:33

Took my 7th jab this morning, 2nd dose of 3.75. Weighed in and I've finally hit the 1 stone mark!! Yay!!

SW 14.11.7
CW 13.11.3
GW 11.7

I feel really happy with the losses, can't see much of a change yet, except my face and fitting better in my clothes, but hopefully the next stone off will be able see the difference more in my body. Exciting!

glittermittens · 17/01/2025 06:35

@BigTightropeWalker I suffered with headaches the first few weeks. I started drinking 2-3 litres of water every day and that's really helped, so maybe up your water a little as you suggested. Hopefully that will help.

JunoRoma · 17/01/2025 07:37

That's great progress @glittermittens

OrangeDonald · 17/01/2025 08:43

@BigTightropeWalker - are you also taking electrolytes as well as plenty of water?

@glittermittens what a fantastic result!

shrinkingthiswinter · 17/01/2025 11:15

@OrangeDonald I am incredibly thirsty, drinking (mostly tea) all the time. Also coconut water sometimes. Maybe should try electrolytes too.

BigTightropeWalker · 17/01/2025 12:18

Thanks @glittermittens and @OrangeDonald yes I'm drinking and using electrolytes. However, I've just re-read the small print on the tube - apparently I can take up to 4 tablets a day and I thought it was only 1 a day! So I'll up that to 4 immediately! D'oh!

I have also been very ill since taking 5mg on Thursday

Cold, tired, nausea, watery diarrhea keeping me up all night.

Just managed a small bowl of soup and feeling slightly better

I am wondering if it is norovirus combined with mounjaro. The gym I have joined is pretty scummy, though I was careful to wash my hands afterwards I still touched my phone to change the music etc.

Still I going back down to 2.5mg next week and will see what happens.

Did you go back down to 2.5mg or go for the 5mg on the second week?

I felt so bad with my first dose of 5mg and contemplating if the 2nd dose of 5mg is a good idea or to drop it down to 3.75mg.

Anyone else been sick on the first 5mg but fine on the 2nd dose?

Waymarked7 · 17/01/2025 20:12

Anyone else exercising?

Managed a few runs this week, first felt great as I'm 7kg down, second was tough haha!

Noticed this week that my hips are killing me, at the side at night time, having to toss and turn all night and sleep with a pillow between my knees. Not sure whether that's mountjaro, weightloss or something else entirely!

Not weighed in a week as use the scales at work but will check tomorrow. Hoping for a further loss but did have some chips tonight, hoping the run balances them out!
