Hi all - hope everyone is keeping well. After fluctuating like mad in January, it appears I have lost 3 kg over the last 4 weeks! 🙂not sure how that has happened!

Although I have at least 15kg to go so it seems like my goal is a long way away.

I have felt under the weather on and off for a while over the last few weeks. I am in peri and that combined with trying to lose weight, and getting fit seems to be getting harder! Anyone else in peri and struggling? I seem to have interrupted sleep again and some hot flushes, which I had a few years ago which then seemed to ease.

I've decided again I am not moving up yet with the injections yet and staying at 5mg, as maybe the slower weight loss will stop the sagging! Also seem to have a nice balance between side effects and losing the weight.

Have a good weekend everyone! xx

@NaivePrey I’ve been post meno for a couple of years now but I have been getting warm moments on Mj when I eat sugar. That was always a trigger when I was peri. I’ve posted before about how Mj does seem to be closely allied with how the body manages sugar, which makes sense given its role in diabetes management. It might be that your flushes are coming with eating sugar/carbs, maybe? That could be something you can solve if so, so 🤞!

@Azuresky68 thank you for your kind words! Yes, I’m still on Mj. Given that I’ve been eating so much crap my weight gain has been minimal, three pounds rather than the half stone or more that the same food would have added in the past. That said, although I have found myself eating far too much, I have never ended up in an eat everything in sight jag which used to happen to me regularly, so actually maybe I haven’t eaten as much food as I think I have. Anyhow, new month today and I’m back on it like a car bonnet…I’ve had a firm word with myself to point out that a minor operation is no reason to eat like a lunatic, and I’m hoping I can take my own advice 😆

BackToWegovy · 02/02/2025 09:29

Milestone for me today - I am back to my pre covid lockdown weight from March 2020. Looking back I gained 2st 10lb or 17.3 kg in 8 months to November 2020 and, although I have come close before in the following 4 years and a bit, this is the first time I am back here. It was after a particularly successful time on Slimming World. Hoping that this time round I can keep on going down towards a healthy BMI.

NaivePrey · 02/02/2025 17:39

🤗congrats @BackToWegovy that must feel really good? 🤗

good luck with getting it under control @Ifyounevergiveup , I'm sure you will!🙂

I've reviewed what I have eaten the last few weeks and its been pretty consistent and generally ok but will keep an eye and see if the days I feel ropey align with a heavy day of carbs or not. Sugar - I avoid as it makes me feel sick so don't think it is that!

the chat seems to be a bit quiet at the moment, hope everyone is doing well and now that January is over (the longest most miserable month ever) its time to look forward to some light and hopefully some sunshine!

onwards and downwards everyone xx

My diabetes consultant explained that the NHS prescribing guidelines do not allow the prescription of higher doses than 5mg for the indication 'diabetes'.

He finds it frustrating, because he has many obese patients who could benefit from higher doses. However the NHS rules only allow the higher doses to be prescribed for obesity, and the only doctors allowed to write those prescriptions are obesity specialists working in the NHS obesity clinics. Apparently there just isn't enough money available to cover the cost if all the fat diabetics got NHS prescriptions without first having to go through all the tiers of the obesity clinic. In my area if you do manage to jump through all the obesity clinic hoops they are only able to offer bariatric surgery at the end of it. I hear that in Cambridge Addenbrookes are still only offering Wegovy, they know that Mounjaro is more effective, but they don't have the time and money to retrain the staff and rewrite all the information for patients.

He approves of me paying privately for a 7.5mg injection pen to boost my weekly dose to 12.5, with the possibility of going up to 10mg to reach the maximum dose of 15mg. The good thing is that I can depend on the 5mg prescription to continue so I won't have to bother about private maintenance plans.

Sadteacher · 02/02/2025 19:13

I’ve had an interesting couple of weeks. I was meant to go up to 15 mg but the suppression was so high all of a sudden I counted clicks and stayed on 12.5. I have felt the highest suppression since starting and then this week had two days of diarrhoea day and night. I thought I had escaped it all.
I have therefore ordered another 12.5, but will probably lower a bit to around 11mg to check I don’t get any more side effects. I have switched to oushk as only 5lbs from a healthy weight now. @Azuresky68 what did you decide for maintenance in the end?
I have finally hit the 2 stone loss, I started end of August so 5 months or so.

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 06:00

Good to hear about all your progress. I’m afraid I’ve gone up a pound this week. So, I feel very stuck. Still on 5mg (injection 19 yesterday). Current weight 11 stone 13.5 lbs. So a total of only 10 lb loss in 18 weeks. I have another dose of this 5mg pen and a 7.5mg one in the fridge but I’m wary of going up due to side effects that I’ve experienced before.

I have finally hit the 2 stone loss, I started end of August so 5 months or so.

Hi there. I usually post on the August starters thread as this thread can be a bit quiet, although always supportive. We are similar in that I started in August and am 2.5 pounds away from losing 2 stone. 9 stone is my goal although the top of my BMI is 8 stone 11. I am staying with Ouschk and have had 2 consultations with Hira. Currently on 12.5 mg but suppression is too high and I can't eat very well...don't fancy healthy food at all. So I am planning to go down to 11 mg with the rest of this pen, then titrate down for maintenance. I am going on a 3 week trip to Argentina in 5 weeks so I will be in maintenance by then. I am not planning to come off MJ for a while and at least if I do and the weight starts creeping back I can restart with Oushk. In lockdown I lost around 25 pounds..lowest I got to was 9 stone 4 but it was a struggle to keep it off, especially as I started a new relationship and enjoyed lots of eating, drinking and going on holiday after we were 'unlocked'! That is still the case as we are both retired and we go away as much as we can, while we can. It was only in 2024 that I finally gained the last half stone, bringing me up to 11 stone and I despaired of starting all over again. It was my doctor who mentioned MJ in August when I went for a health check. At just under 5 foot I was clinically obese and at risk of a heart attack (I am 68) MJ has been amazing for me. I have only lost an average of a pound a week but have continued going on holiday and socialising but I don't drink alcohol unless I am on holiday..I used to love having a few drinks at our favourite places. Now I love the fact I can wear size 10's again! Good luck to everyone this week 😊

Sadteacher · 03/02/2025 18:26

@letshavetea I completely understand having to manage the side effects. Could you go up to 6 and slowly work your way up? Must be nice to have a weight starting with an 11 again, keep looking at those mini goals and you’ll get there in the end!

@Azuresky68 Argentina is an unusual holiday destination, how exciting!

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 18:35

@Sadteacher yes, that’s a good idea. I will give it some serious consideration. I’m still experiencing nausea and feeling cold today and wiped out. Suppression is also still high. Such a lot to take into account isn’t there? Like @Azuresky68 I’m going on holiday in five weeks and I’m keen to be on a dose that I feel comfortable with for then. Argentina sounds fascinating - I’d love to hear what it’s like when you come back.

MolluscMonday · 04/02/2025 00:19

Hello all. Sorry to all those who are struggling or plateaued.

Suppression has been high for me on 12.5 - am struggling to get above 1000cals and generally doing that via a v small snack at lunchtime and then a small dinner. BUT no bloody weightloss! It started strong then I rocketed up half a stone pre period and have been fighting my way back down ever since. I keep hoping for a woosh down at some point but nothing as yet.

Azuresky68 · 05/02/2025 08:27

@MolluscMondayhi there. Sorry its tough for you at the moment. Pretty much the same for me on 12.5 mg..struggle to eat and don't fancy healthy stuff. Thought it would help with my weight loss but it's not speeded it up. 2.5 pounds off my goal but very slow. I am going to try 11mg tomorrow. Once at goal I am titrating down then might see what happens 🤔 With Oushk I have the option of stopping and starting. This has to be the last time for me after struggling for over 50 years!

Pinkyp22 · 06/02/2025 20:28

@Ifyounevergiveup nice to see back

I am still plodding on. I reached 3 1/2 stone loss a few weeks ago, last week I think was a stall - been super super busy with work and Uni, very stressful situation on placement has resulted in me eating very little ( unheard of stress woukd usually make me binge) so all though not great I am so hoping for a good loss tomorrow. I am pulling 12. 5 hour shifts in a care home for the next 3 weeks ...... Last ever placement...... Need to keep going......
Im exhausted but can see major changes in my body now

Pinkyp22 · 07/02/2025 13:36

Update from me
2lbs gone this week so I am in total 23kg, around 50lbs down 🎉🎉 4 stone here I come

BackToWegovy · 09/02/2025 07:50

Well done. That is fantastic.

BackToWegovy · 09/02/2025 08:07

I have moved down into size 14s this week. My 16s have been gradually getting silly and I have gone for it. Feels great to make the change.

BackToWegovy · 10/02/2025 07:08

My 4 week weigh in has come round again. This time I am down 2.3 kg / 5lb. I am happy with that. Quite a few cravings have been creeping back in though and side effects have been minimal so I am going up to a my planned 1.36mg for the next 5 weeks which involves counting clicks from the 1.7mg pen. Hoping for no new side effects but better suppression and continued losses.

Sadteacher · 10/02/2025 18:58

Well done @BackToWegovy
Ive a couple of things in the lockers from vinted to collect but it’s too wet and cold to go out. It’s great to go down a dress size!

Ifyounevergiveup · 12/02/2025 15:05

@Pinkyp22 @BackToWegovy omg guys, what fabulous progress! You must both be so proud! I have got my ridiculous eating back under control and am within 3lb of my lowest pre-Xmas weight. And the knee is mending nicely, so all is well! Lent coming up too which should help me a lot. Love to everyone!

TryingToHelpBut · 15/02/2025 14:26

Afternoon all, just checking in to say I've lost the most I've ever lost in a week this week since the beginning. 3.5 lbs! It's always a pound or pound and a half - Only thing I changed was trying an area directly below belly button (not too close. It's felt really strong this week. Could be fluke as I've tried arm/leg before with no differences but when I do stomach, I tend to go one side or the other. Anyway, be interested if anyone else has used that location.
I'm coming up for a year now and am only three pounds from being in the 10 bracket. 14's still tight though as I'm pretty short but I haven't been in the 10's for about 20 years.
Funny how no one really noticed until just before Xmas and now people are acting like I've lost weight really fast/crash dieted, nothing could be further from the truth...

BackToWegovy · 15/02/2025 16:35

Oh wow, well done. 3.5lb at a late stage is brilliant.

I was tired and hungry with flapjacks on offer this week - so had a bit of a slip there. I think I have got to the stage where I’m am a bit bored of being good all the time but it has to be forever sadly. I am promising myself Easter eggs during the Easter weekend and telling myself to be patient until then.

Grecianrainbow · 15/02/2025 22:08

I think I am in the slow losers club. Seeing 1-1.5 losses on the scales after the inital higher loss. I’m trying not to feel demoralised as this is the first time in recent years that I’ve stuck to a diet for more than a couple of weeks.

BackToWegovy · 16/02/2025 06:24

@Grecianrainbow it is hard not to feel demoralised when you read the other threads and so many people have lost 4 stone in a few months. But as long as the weight is going down consistently over time the drug is working for us too. Sticking to it is the important thing and the WLIs make that so much easier to do.

Sadteacher · 16/02/2025 07:48

@TryingToHelpBut I had the same with everyone noticing the last few weeks. It coincided with a a stressful couple of weeks at work and people kept saying they were worried about me because I’d lost so much weight. Considering I’ve been on the jabs since August and my average is under a pound a week I don’t think they have anything to be worried about! I’m still a few pounds away from a healthy bmi. I think it’s the kitchen roll analogy, the last few sheets to come off make the roll look a lot smaller!
Ive got one more 12,5 pen in the fridge and then I have an appointment with Hira about maintenance. I’m happy with my weight now, I can wear a size 12 but think I should try and get under 10.1 which is the top of my bmi, only 4 lbs away ( which as we all know could still take weeks to come off!)
@Grecianrainbow you’re doing great, how much do you hope to lose altogether? Perhaps you can set some mini goals to keep up the motivation?

@BackToWegovy i get the tired eating - I had plenty of cake last week in the staffroom, we always need sugar to get us to the end of each half term. I think my job affects what I eat a lot. The cycle of exhaustion then holidays to recover isn’t that healthy for me.

letshavetea · 16/02/2025 08:01

@Grecianrainbow try not to let it get to you! All of us on here are taking the slow route. My pharmacist in a recent consultation told me how much better it is for us to do this! I’ve been on MJ since the beginning of October and I’m still one and a half pounds away from losing a stone! I feel so much better though and I can now see a difference. It’s definitely worth it!
