@Ifyounevergiveup yes it is really boring. I haven't actually done it today because I forgot.

I have tried saxenda in the past, which has the same active ingredient as Wegovy I think

I was very unwell on it

I posted last year thinking about trying these weight loss jobs and explaining my previous experience really put me off

I heard about a few people who had the same problem, but were okay on MJ so in the end I thought I haven't made any progress on my own so I'll try the MJ

As I seem to have been alright in terms of side-effects three days in a row, I think I might be making progress! Fingers crossed

Debating now whether to stick with 3.75 on Friday or try five but My Friday and Saturday packing up with things to do so perhaps stay on the safe side till January

Hey!!

Yes, it is really boring . Especially when you are the kind of person who loves food and all of a sudden that is taken away from you. I started middle ofarch so I had it easy because in the warmer weather it's lovely to eat protein and salads and easy to add flavour.
It is harder in the colder months, chopping up cucumber and grilling fish is not what we want to do this time of year. But what you have lost is amazing. Without the MJ you might've been gaining.
Come spring you will find it easier and by then you will be down more weight. And it will come off weird places, all of a sudden your collarbone will appear! Yes, your tummy will probably be the last to go.
I reckon I need another year - I'm only 5ft 1 and for years I've been eating the same as a 6ft man and some! I'm learning that I just don't need as much food. X

RoundandSad · 18/12/2025 12:17

@Sloelydoesit thank you

actually mine has gone from my tummy. My sweaters hang down straight! I realised that i was making myself feel bad looking at posts from people who have lost loads.

my arse will be the last to go thats how it happens for me

im on the November starters thread and posters have lost 6lb in a week and had no side effects and I just felt like it must not be wprking properly but now i realise it is

this thread really helps so i hope it stays active

not finding a winter an issue but honestly i wasn't eating a lot before, strange though it seems.

Ifyounevergiveup · 20/12/2025 08:27

@RoundandSad I’m chuckling because it’s so lovely when you start to see differences in how your clothes behave!

I too left a main Mj thread because I was becoming enraged by my lack of progress compared to others, and that was making me feel mean when I should have been happy for them. You know you’ll always find a sympathetic ear here!

RoundandSad · 20/12/2025 10:37

@Ifyounevergiveup thank you
I'm going to imagine the board will be very quiet over Christmas

I took my first 5 mg yesterday so I really hope I'm not horribly ill! I've already seen a thread where someone got criticised for going up a dose before Christmas but honestly, it's much more important to do this and there's always gonna be a reason why you cant

I have a big project starting on fifth of January so it makes much more sense to try it now

I took that about 4 pm yesterday

I haven't lost any weight this week!

RoundandSad · 20/12/2025 11:03

That was my seventh dose

I feel like I should be a stone down by now
To be honest, that's what I was expecting Though I was really worried about side effects

But looking at here and on Reddit, and actually at the two people I know who were taking it, I thought a stone in six weeks was perfectly reasonable to expect

I don't think I ever would've ordered the medication if I wasn't so excited about that

Ifyounevergiveup · 20/12/2025 21:15

@RoundandSad you are brave and also absolutely right.

If not now, then when?

There is always a reason not to. You’re not letting those excuses in. Well done you.

RoundandSad · 21/12/2025 13:35

@Ifyounevergiveup Thank you for still posting. It's going to be lonely here over Christmas.

So far, I seem to be okay stomach wise, terrible fatigue and headache yesterday and had to sleep in the middle of the day. We were out in the morning for the shops and then out again in the evening and I really could not have managed without being asleep during the day.

But so far, I'm okay today

It's quite an emotional journey this I think - I wanted this to be a three month kickstart and now I'm halfway through it and it hasn't worked out at all how I wanted so I still find myself thinking I don't wanna do this anymore

And then I think well in that case, I should go back down to 2.5

I know I have to be more patient than this
I'm not getting the appetite suppressant that some people are getting,

like they post how hard it is to eat a morsel of food and they can't get enough calories so they have clear protein drinks...!

RoundandSad · 21/12/2025 13:40

Also, a lot of posters seem to have had issues with binging and other food problems

I'm very glad for them if this helps

It's not a problem I had in the first place. I don't have a food noise problem either in fact it took me awhile to work out what it actually is.

It just makes thE threads feel
unrelatable for me. And I think those people don't believe me when I say I got fat eating normal food and I'm never at risk of eating a whole packet of biscuits or over eating just because it's Christmas

Sorry, I got a bit pity party

LeafUsAlone · 21/12/2025 22:03

Hi @Roundandsad, some people need the higher doses to feel the same effects as others on lower doses, so don't lose hope yet! It is disheartening when others seem to drop the weight, but I think generally those in a similar boat to us tend not to post as much because of that feeling of perhaps not doing it right. Which isn't true of course! I got very disheartened there for a long while, and now I'm back to giving it my best shot. I had struggled to move up a dose but the fab posters on here got me back on it. The journey won't be linear, but you seem determined enough to make some changes. I also lighten my perspective by telling myself that as I am having to adjust my habits as I go along, while still feeling some hunger, I have a better chance of keeping any weight lost off long term than those who cannot manage a morsel on low doses. Not sure how true that is, but it seems to make some modicum of sense in my mind!

RoundandSad · 21/12/2025 22:08

@LeafUsAlone what's your situation at the moment, please?

I agree with you, but the people who can't eat much on it are probably planning to stay on it forever

I followed my usual pattern after injecting on a Friday, I feel so down today and it's every Sunday I think why the hell am I doing this?

And of course it makes me wonder if I really did try hard enough before.

LeafUsAlone · 22/12/2025 13:11

I'm currently taking 5mg every 5 days because I struggled to up my dose and I wasn't losing. I plan to reduce the gap between doses over time but so long as I keep losing I'm not in a mad rush to do so. I'm now losing about 2lbs per week without being restrictive with my food, but slowly adding in more nutritionally sound foods. If I go in whole hog, I tend to lose oomph very quickly now after years of various different diets and rules etc.

OP posts:
RoundandSad · 22/12/2025 16:25

@LeafUsAlone you're not being restricted with your food? That's interesting.

I took 5 mg on Friday for the first time. I bridged up with 3.75 for a couple of weeks.

I don't think I'll be taking 5 mg again. Certainly not in the near future. I felt dreadful yesterday and today has been a real struggle. I injected into my thigh. I suspect that meant the stomach effects weren't too bad. But once again, I feel as if I've just injected myself with feeling tired and low. The change back to normal on days five and six has been quite pronounced but I wonder if it will be delayed on this higher dose.

I think 3.75 might be okay. I initially thought Boxing Day might be alright for 5 mg because we just had quiet family time in the diary, but that's been changed with bigger plans for 28th 29th 30th and 31st now! I don't want to spend them yawning, asleep, or necking Pepto-Bismol!

LeafUsAlone · 22/12/2025 17:42

I found the tiredness awful at times, but I think I'm over that now, or for now anyway! One thing I paid attention to was am I tired because I haven't eaten enough?
I have a complicated history with food so I try not to diet as such, and I always accepted that I would lose weight more slowly because of that, but felt it was better for my mental health in the long run

OP posts:
RoundandSad · 22/12/2025 17:56

@LeafUsAlone do you remember how long it took you to get past the fatigue

am I right thinking you stayed on MJ?

It's definitely not that I'm not eating enough

Kicks in pretty quick so like within a couple of hours, I feel absolutely exhausted It's not something I would want to deal with long-term.

losing 2lb a week is great.

LeafUsAlone · 22/12/2025 18:41

Yes stayed on mj. Ah ok, so it's definitely just a side effect. It was weeks, possibly 6 weeks if I remember correctly. I factored in short naps tbh! Home from work, short nap, then dinner, homework, bedtimes, shower and then early to bed for me too! It was the only way I could manage it

OP posts:
RoundandSad · 22/12/2025 20:37

@LeafUsAlone that sounds worse than what I have

I'm fine by day five - totally normal by then I would say

i've only had a couple of days where I actually had to nap

Someone else has started a thread on exactly this and they seem to have it much worse than I do

I think, if you're losing lots of weight, it probably feels worth it but if I'm averaging a pound a week it's probably not

Maybe if my rate of loss increases, I will feel differently

I also had constant headache when I started but fingers crossed, I think that might have gone now? Nervous to say in case it comes back.

Ifyounevergiveup · 22/12/2025 21:18

@LeafUsAlone Just a quickie to say how utterly fabulous to hear you’re getting littler again! You’ve been so patient!

I met my brother and sister in law today, I only see them at Christmas as they live abroad and they nearly fell over when they saw me. My brother (who is a fitness fanatic) looked me straight in the face and said “Ifyounevergiveup, you look absolutely amazing.” I can’t remember his saying anything like that to me before ever. I was utterly moved! Keep going, ladies (gentlemen?!). While we grit our teeth in frustration, slowly but surely we’re getting there. Love to everybody x

RoundandSad · 23/12/2025 10:40

@Ifyounevergiveup that's fantastic!

LeafUsAlone · 23/12/2025 13:23

Thank you @Ifyounevergiveup, it has been a ridiculously long journey and loss wise it has barely even started!! But keeping my fingers crossed that it will continue now.

I'm so chuffed for you that you had such a lovely reaction to all your hard work. That recognition can help make it all worthwhile!

OP posts:
RoundandSad · 24/12/2025 22:30

I was foolish to think it would be a short journey

Today was our Main day food wise
The things I could've avoided being honest sausage rolls and a mince pie
That was instead of an evening meal

Tomorrow there's lunch but after that nothing

Injection on Friday

Some bits of eating out to navigate next week, but hopefully not too hard but won't be taking 5mg anyway because of the stomach feelings

RoundandSad · 26/12/2025 16:17

Is injection day ever normal?

did it at 1. Tired and feel strange and have metallic taste in mouth. Good thing i did all my tasks in the morning

Ifyounevergiveup · 26/12/2025 20:22

@RoundandSad eew that sounds horrid. Like @LeafUsAlone said, everyone is different. When I go up a dose I get terrible gastric side effects but not until day three, like clockwork. I’m very grateful that I’m lucky enough to have a side effect I can take medicine for! Hope things improve for you. If you decide it’s all too much, though, don’t feel bad. No medicine is for absolutely everyone, and if you have to stop, you will know you gave it your best shot (if you’ll forgive the pun!)

RoundandSad · 26/12/2025 21:15

@Ifyounevergiveup good pun!

Thank you

I can't see this going on for too much longer to be honest

One other option is to go back down to 2.5

I just took 3.75 today because 5 mg was not good

I've been sitting around all afternoon and evening and will go to bed soon so I think I feel better but I haven't had to do anything. Different story the rest of the week though.

LeafUsAlone · 27/12/2025 01:12

I inject just before bed so I avoid a few hours of any side effects. I started that on ozempic because I didnt tolerate that well at all!

OP posts:
RoundandSad · 27/12/2025 09:16

@LeafUsAlone how are you getting on or are you not doing it over Christmas? Hope it's all good.

Taking it at night - yes I thought about that but I was worried about the stomach upset. As it is, with taking it around midday, I was woken up by nausea two nights later on one occasion.

That was my eighth dose yesterday, so it looks like I do feel bad in the few hours immediately after injecting but not in a stomach related way... so thank you I will take it before bed next week.

A couple of other side-effects that haven't gone away and they seem strange but with an eight week record I can't blame anything else...

The days after my injection, I notice a lot of water retention, a LOT and this seems to be the opposite of what most people experience

I also have very itchy skin for a couple of days after injecting. I never really know what people mean when they say they have inflammation. It's not a problem I have, but I wonder if this drug is actually making me experience a bit of it?

My provider offers a money back guarantee after six months if you haven't lost a certain percentage of your weight, I better check the details of that. But I'm not convinced I'm gonna last six months anyway.

I forgot to say, I lost 2 lb this week before weigh in. That is good. Well, it represents double of what I was doing in previous weeks!
