Thanks to @Sadteacher for pointing out we were nearly full on the old post!

Here’s what I keep asking myself. If there’s a minimum bmi to start Mj, surely it makes sense that as we get smaller we’re going to need less? Or am I being too simplistic? I plan to test my theory by going back to 7.5mg next month and seeing if the suppression is still there. Hope you’re getting through it, @BackToWegovy . @Sadteacher what do you think? Have you tried a smaller dose and if so what was the effect?

Sadteacher · 05/03/2025 19:02

@Ifyounevergiveup ive never had any side effects or huge suppression. I just didn’t go up to 15mg after my first bout of diarrhoea, I just carried on taking 12.5 from the 15 pen. Up until that point I felt so ‘normal’ on mounjaro I thought I’d stay on it long term.
Im short and only started with a bmi of 31, my starting weight was 12.7, which could be a tall persons healthy bmi! I sometimes pondered why mounjaro didn’t have more of an effect on me in proportion to my weight.

BackToWegovy · 06/03/2025 06:30

That’s an interesting theory about reducing the dose as you lose weight. Lots of medication is calculated in mg/kg. I had my Mounjaro reaction at a similar weight. Feeling much better now and I have ordered a 1 mg pen. Not quite sure how to go about my next dose but maybe I will take it before a day off rather than before a working day just in case. I might go down to 0.5mg for a couple of doses and see what happens.

And I’ve decided to go down to 7.5mg by counting clicks straight away, rather than waiting for my next pen. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes! I too am short, 5’1 and a very important 1/2”, and I’m currently 11.4lb. I figure that I can always go back up but if going down reduces the slurry I’m all in favour 😆

Pinkyp22 · 09/03/2025 11:55

Hi everyone , how are you all doing?
I am still slowly group to 10mg by doing an extra click each week 🙄
Last week the scales lied to me and told me I had gained 1lb, but it was actually my period and so I am back at 82kg (12 stone bracket.. Just) still so close to my 4 stone loss and yet so far.
I have had dizzy spells for a few weeks, thinking its my BP but I checked blood glucose and I was 3.2 😬 so I'm trying to make sure I eat something little snack wise between meals.
I am spending the next 2 Mondays with thr diabetes nurse specialist for learning at work - if anyone has any burning questions? But in all honesty I think we could teach them a thing or two, it's really interesting however it is interesting to hear how its working for her diabetes patients.

Ifyounevergiveup · 09/03/2025 18:27

@Pinkyp22 that'll be an interesting exercise! Will you ask if they drop the dose if their patient loses weight? (Although I seem to remember that someone said they only give 2.5mg on the NHS anyway). Would be interesting to know if she has a view on dosages though. Enjoy!

I will definitely ask.
I asked her the other day if she had any patients that had come off mounjaro she hasbt yet.
They haven't yet had funding to prescribe for weight loss in non diabetic patients, and when they do they've been told it will a maximum of 200 patients and from underprivileged parts of the town as priority.

BackToWegovy · 14/03/2025 06:13

So I didn’t have my usual Monday dose - the food noise has returned in force. Can’t stop thinking about chocolate bars and Easter Eggs despite having had very few for months. I have given in a few times but not gone too mad. Really hope I can tolerate the lower dose I am planning for Sunday.

Ifyounevergiveup · 14/03/2025 10:53

@BackToWegovy There is nothing worse than that voice coming back when you thought you’d banished it. How are you feeling in yourself? So proud that you’re persevering. I’m two weeks into a reduced 7.5 dose and I feel so much better, I’ll definitely go down to 7.5mg on my next pen.

BackToWegovy · 14/03/2025 11:14

Feeling much better - maybe the odd lingering bit of tummy ache. I am but scared to restart but have to try.

@BackToWegovy How are you doing, my love?

BackToWegovy · 20/03/2025 20:36

Aww, thanks for asking. I am fine on my lower dose that I took on Sunday. One more like that and then I am back to 1 mg. Really hoping I will be ok to continue on that. Changed my day to a Sunday as Monday is my day off work just in case. The food noise is back under control and I have lost a bit of weight this week too. Honestly one week’s gap and it was already heading in the wrong direction.

How are you?

TryingToHelpBut · 21/03/2025 16:43

Went up to 15 this week and I’ve lost 1.5lbs which is great as it’s finally taken me to a weight starting with a 10 (by 2 ounces but I’m taking it) I don’t want to tell people in real life as I don’t like discussing anyone’s weight but I haven’t been in the 10’s for about 20 years! I don’t feel particularly slim though, my goal was 10stone and I thought that would be amazing but I’m only just going into 14’s right now. I think my shape has changed since I was younger (unsurprising I suppose given my age) and I’m still finding it hard to find clothes that fit well. So I’m pleased, especially health wise but also wondering if I’ll be ‘happy’ with what I see now. Potentially not but I think I’m mostly ok with that. I don’t care enough to worry what other people think these days. Wondering if the last bit will be difficult now I’m up to the highest dose too.

Pinkyp22 · 22/03/2025 13:56

Hello everyone

I hope everyone is doing great.
@Ifyounevergiveup I hope you've been enjoying the gym?
I finally hit 81kg yesterday, which is 4 stone lost.
Super busy time for me, I have exams coming up and we had the horrible news last week that mum has lung cancer. My appetite has disappeared substantially, which is something as pre mounjaro I know I'd be binge eating my many emotions.
I'd like to get one more stone gone and then think about slowly saying goodby to mounjaro. I keep asking the Diabetes Nurse for advise but she currently has no patients even close to coming off it!
With everything that's going on I forgot to do my injection Thursday, then forgot to do it Friday, so I had to do it this morning and I went for a full 10mg dose 😳 ( i had been going up from 7.5 for a while by only a click or two each week.) I'd got 9.5 last week so thought lets just go for it.

Ifyounevergiveup · 22/03/2025 15:16

@Pinkyp22 so sorry to hear such news, big hugs from all of us, I’m sure. If you ever need to howl or growl we’re here for you. Yes, the gym rehab is going well and my weight is creeping down, although there’s another 2.5lb to go until I get back to my pre Christmas and operation weight. Going back down to 7.5mg has suited me, I do feel hungry sometimes but I think that’s healthy. Healthier than liquid insides, anyway 😉 . I’ll be with @TryingToHelpBut once I lose those 2.5lb, with a 10 at the start of my weight! Another 1.5 stone to go after that so still a long way off target, but as a wise person once said at the start of our journeys, the time will pass anyway. So I will keep on crawling down, achingly slowly but still down! Big love to everyone.

Pinkyp22 · 22/03/2025 17:12

I am glad to hear the weight is going in the right direction now.
Thank you very much, mum is elderly so its a bit uncertain but we're trying to be optimistic about it.

Congratulations on the weightloss!! You're at my goal weight so I'm feeling inspired! Can I ask how long you have been on MJ and what your dosing schedule was like?

I'm still stone number 2 of 5 to lose and at 7.5mg and feeling nervous I'll have no where to go.

As part of the slow losers club, I'm a bit unsure of whether the dose I'm on is working (but slow loss) or not working and I need to move up. I think I'm getting both confused

Ifyounevergiveup · 23/03/2025 15:32

@mamabeeboo hello lovely. Fwiw my view is if you’re not hungry don’t go up. Informed by the awful effect a higher dose had on my insides 😆. I found all doses had little effect on me until I got to 10mg. I remember posting on the main thread, terrified that I’d get all the way to 15mg and still not be losing weight. At 10mg and 1100 calories a day I started to lose half a pound to a pound a week. Many women on this slow losers thread have PCOS and/or underactive thyroid; I have both and we’re all pretty much convinced it’s these endocrine issues which cause our slow weight loss. Of course they do, that’s why none of us have managed to lose in the past. Recently 10mg has been too much, my insides were awful so I’ve dropped to 7.5mg and all is well again. So go up if you’re hungry AND you know your calorie intake is low. Otherwise, make dietary changes and see how you go on. Slow loss has its advantages: hardly any of us gained much over Christmas, most of us aren’t shedding hair and our energy levels are largely ok (going by what people post). Don’t get frustrated, plod along, come here and howl with rage when you need to and in six months’ time you’ll suddenly realise you’ve lost over two stone and bit by bit your body has been shedding weight without you noticing, because you’ve been too busy complaining about a pound a week to notice how much it’s added up to (this is me I’m talking about, obvs!) I’ll shut up now but that’s exactly how it’s working for lots of us; slow but consistent losses. Enjoy.

Sadteacher · 23/03/2025 16:21

@Ifyounevergiveup completely agree.

Hi @mamabeeboo

You're doing great 2 stone us huge but I know it gets frustrating when it's slow.
I started Mounjaro on 5th July last year so it's taken over 8 months to get here. When I say that I still feel a bit hard done by when some people have lost a stone in a month 🙄 but the important thing I am here. I have mostly only ever lost 1 or 2lbs per week consistently.

I found going from 5mg to 7.5mg really hard, 3am toilet trips, dizzy spells etc so I just went down to 6.25 and ever since then I have increased my doses by small increments.
I think I probably lost the most of weight on 6.25mg.
This week I went from 9.5 to 10mg and that's the largest jump I have done in a long time. My appetite is 0
I would say to keep going however little the loss, it will eventually add up.

Pinkyp22 · 28/03/2025 11:05

Hello again everyone
How are we all doing?
Going up to 10mg has worked for me this week, down to 80kg so 2lbs loss this week and even with my period 😱🙏 down into the 70s now 😱
Bmi is now at 26.7, I need to get to 74kg to be in the healthy range (highest end of healthy range I add but at 5ft 9 I dont think less than 74kg will look right) and then I am done!

BackToWegovy · 28/03/2025 21:45

Well done pinkyp22. I have been maintaining for a few weeks on my lower dose. Planning to go back up to 1 mg tomorrow and hoping to stay well and maybe lose a bit of weight next week before I go on holiday next weekend. I am nervous about side effects when I am travelling or busy on holiday so taking my doses a bit earlier this week and next just in case and packing plenty of Imodium.

NaivePrey · 30/03/2025 10:57

hi everyone, hope you are all doing well 😁
for me its feeling more and more like a slog - down 11.4kg in total but have around 15kg to 20 kg to go. the last two months I have lost 2.5 kg in total, although been really stressed and then I've had the lurghy for the last 1.5 weeks and struggling. Feel a bit better today but not great!

I've decided to go to up to 7.5mg for my next jab and see whether that starts the shift!

Hope everyone else is doing better than me at the moment! onwards and downwards!

letshavetea · 30/03/2025 11:25

Hi everyone, @NaivePrey I’m six months into this journey and have lost a stone. I have another 10lbs to go to 11 stone (bmi 25 @ 5 ft 6 in), and then half a stone to 10 and a half stone (which I think is my ultimate goal). I think it’s feeling like a slog because you’ve been stressed and poorly. I felt like this before my recent holiday, but having come back and stayed the same things suddenly look rosier again! Whereas before I went away, I was fed up to have plateaued again!
I think the fact you’ve still lost whilst feeling under par is a real achievement.
I’ve got my first 7.5 mg pen in the fridge for tonight. I’m going to titrate up slowly to try to minimise side effects - are you?
