@Azuresky68 wow, you look amazing! I read something on Reddit that said people will happily pay a couple of hundred pounds a month to have a nice car, why would you feel guilty spending it on yourself? I am lucky I can afford it but slightly begrudge it as it isn’t the best value when you’re a slow loser.
@MolluscMonday congratulations, what are you hoping to wear for your big day? What a goal to aim for!

@Sadteacher I love that perspective, and it’s SO true isn’t it. What price health eh?! And anyway- my food bill each month is so much less cos i’m eating so much less.

I have a dress; it’s a floor length a-line lace job. It fits (just) as I am but I’d like it to be a bit looser so i can just forget about it if you know what i mean?! It is quite good motivation 😆

85kg today so 2lb/1kg loss this week! 🎊🎉

I also remembered something else the Diabetes nurse told me, on thier mounjaro training and info from the rep..... They aim to keep people on the round dosages, such as 5mg, 10mg as the . 5 does are loading doses not therapeutic doses! Of course this is information used to prescribe to diabetic patients not for weight loss.

Azuresky68 · 10/01/2025 09:32

@Pinkyp22 congratulation on your great loss! Thanks for the information via your colleague..all very interesting!

MolluscMonday · 10/01/2025 09:40

That’s brilliant @Pinkyp22, well done!

Day 2 of 12.5 and Day 2 of a headache for me here. V little hunger so far, but i don’t get loads these days anyway. Hoping the headache is indicative of changes behind the scenes…

Azuresky68 · 10/01/2025 18:12

Has anyone seen the She Med ads on social media? It's too late for me but they are offering a year's subscription for £99 a month for any strength pen. I googled the company name and there was mention of a scam but it all looks genuine ...who knows 🤔

Azuresky68 · 11/01/2025 09:18

Good morning! My weigh day is Thursday, but then I usually weigh again on Saturday to confirm. This week is the first week I have 'officially' weighed since the 12th December as I was away for 3 weeks over Christmas and NY.

I can confirm that in 4 weeks I have lost 1.5 pounds, which I am fine about. I always give myself a week off weighing after a holiday so I don't get downhearted about any gain after holiday food and drink. That works for me! 5.5 pounds left to my goal of 9 stone and BMI of 25.4.
7.5 pounds would bring me to 8 stone 11 pounds and top of the healthy BM1 24.9.
I will be happy with 9 stone as I haven't been that weight for 32 years - pre first child pregnancy weight.
I am a bit obsessed with the threads right now as I find the last 7 pounds of any weight loss goal are a struggle, and reading/posting really helps. Thanks to everyone for being here. The snow and the threads have stopped me doing other things, so I am checking out for the weekend. Have a good one!

Do you mean the 10 would work better than the 12.5 then? Did she mean just the 2.5 is the loading dose?

Pinkyp22 · 11/01/2025 18:06

Hi @Sadteacher

No, I was chatting to the specialist diabetes Nurse I work with in a GP surgery, on the training she received and from the eli lily rep the . 5 dosages are all loading doses and the round numbered doses for eg 5, 10, 15 are the therapeutic doses! I know, your confused reaction was mine too. Remember though, this is with regards to prescribing for diabetic patients, not with the intention of weight loss being the sole purpose. They are not currently prescribing for weight loss, despite it now being approved on the NHS it will be a while yet.
She also told me that currently all specialist in the hospital diabetes clinics in thid area are keeping thier patients on 5mg, no higher but didn't really elaborate on why, only that for most patients they had seen a dramatic enough change to thier HbA1c (blood glucose levels) on the lower doses, but the most amount of weight loss achieved seems to be from the higher doses.
This did make think @Ifyounevergiveup , remember we had a discussion yonks ago about how lots of us relatively slow losers had PCOS. Well I wonder if the insulin resistance has anything to do with it, I dont belive I have or had insulin resistance. It makes sense to me if I wasnt insulin resistant, id need to go up thr doses for it to be more effective.
She gave me a little booklet they give to patients, not one ive seen before I wonder does anyone know how I could upload?

Ifyounevergiveup · 11/01/2025 19:02

@Pinkyp22 yes, I do remember; we did a quick straw poll of posters on this thread over a few days and the majority had PCOS. Bearing in mind many women don’t even know they have it, and that Mj was originally a diabetes drug, I am absolutely certain that female slow losers who can put their hands on their heart and swear they don’t overeat, and who then lose slowly but surely on Mj, are insulin resistant. And my assumption is that those women will be the ones who end up needing Mj long term to sustain their weight loss; because their weight gain is chemical, not emotional, and Mj addresses their hormonal imbalance. I’m not a doctor! - but this seems to make sense to me.

I have long been an emotional eater that I have always known, but my diet ALWAYS included plenty of healthy choices, fruit and vegetables etc, even when my son started school I used to walk him to and from school every day, 20 minutes 4x per day! No healthcare professional will ever believe me 😂 but my diet never ever warrented the 16+ stone I was.
When I think of the extra things I enjoyed over Christmas, and put on 0 weight from it, that wouldn't be the norm for me at all

Sadteacher · 12/01/2025 08:40

My last 12.5 today and I’ll go up to 15 next week, so interesting to see if that has any impact. Last week I sts, this week I’ve lost a pound.

@Azuresky68 have you decided on your maintenance provider? I’ve decided to order the next pen with oushk or cloud even though I still have 12lbs to go. Like others on here, I feel I’m not eating that differently to usual so suspect I’ll need long term jabs to maintain. I’ve never chomped on cake/crisps etc, very few take aways etc. I also love how all the aches I put down to the menopause disappeared on my first pen!

Azuresky68 · 12/01/2025 14:21

@Sadteacher I had narrowed it down to Cloud and Ousch. As I am already with Ousch I think I will probably stay with them.

Azuresky68 · 12/01/2025 14:23

@Sadteacher if you have a look on August starters thread 10 there is some helpful feedback about Ouschk

Should have said Mounjaro August Starters thread 10!!!

NaivePrey · 12/01/2025 15:08

thanks for the new thread @LeafUsAlone - I havent logged my weight for around 10 days as I've been on a never ending period. It started, was very painful and I thought after a few days ok this is done. But no it's lurking around - I've always had a blip period every 18 months or so but wasn't expecting it!
Has anyone had any issues with their periods?

I'm on my third 5mg injection and seem to have the dreaded insomnia back which I had when I first started! Hopefully that was a one off for a couple of days as slept ok last night.

Once my period is completely finished will log my weight (as it was fluctuating up and down by 0.5 to 1.2kg). I've given up the booze for now and will try and not have anymore until we go to Spain in March. I'm not a big drinker but do like a glass of wine now and again!

It's weird with the suppression though some days I can feel it loads (and have to remind myself to eat), other days have none at all and have to not succumb to snacks.

TryingToHelpBut · 12/01/2025 20:49

Evening all, so many of you are getting close to goal weights. I'm still at around 28/29 bmi so a fair way to go even though I started in March. I've been stuck at the same weight since Christmas Eve now- I've even gone up to 12.5 but don't have very good suppression compared to last year. Am able to snack and I think like someone mentioned before, I'm suddenly finding healthy foods off putting (a bit like morning sickness) and so reaching for less healthy alternatives.
Jab due tonight. Not sure whether to stick at 12.5 or go back to 10 (the golden shot was left in it)
I collected new pen from Asda the other day. She made me sign for it for the first time as there have been complaints that it wasn't cold. Do you think the temp can ruin a pen?

BackToWegovy · 13/01/2025 06:56

I have seen other people convinced that a pen got warm with a slow delivery and then was less effective. They are meant to be ok out of the fridge for the time you are using them though which is weeks.

It’s my four week weigh in day again - it’s come round quickly! I am down 1.2kg/2.6lb this time. Not amazing but it does include Christmas and I have had some snacky days this week.

Sticking to 1mg for another four weeks. Hope I have made the right call.

MolluscMonday · 13/01/2025 21:35

Evening all. Scales are all over the place for me this week, but it’s ToM and i’m fighting some sort of virus so I am not paying too much attention.

I put on a pair of size 12 trousers this morning and they did up for the first time in about 4 years, so that was nice! They’re a bit too tight still but i haven’t been anywhere near them in ages.

Slow progress is still progress.

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 13/01/2025 22:45

I am 2 measly pounds away from a healthy BMI and my original goal weight. I've been stuck here since before Christmas. I really didn't overindulge over Xmas, just didn't feel the urge. Feeling a bit miffed but know it'll come off eventually. Having (almost) got to this goal weight, I'd actually like to lose some more, maybe up to another stone. I have a horrible flabby belly overhang (c-section shelf) that I'm hoping will eventually not be the only thing I see in the mirror. Doubt it'll ever go completely though, without surgery, which isn't in my plans.

Anyone else battling the same? I think that slow and steady weight loss is supposed to be better for this than very rapid loss, but I've been obese or overweight for over 10 years, so think my skin must be stretched forever.

MolluscMonday · 14/01/2025 00:37

Yeah, I have the lower belly overhang. I have also had two c/sections, I don’t really know if that makes a difference but i’m happy to blame them!

It frustrates me when I notice some random body part that didn’t need to lose weight suddenly looks thinner (TOES. FUCKING TOES! MY TOES WERE FINE TO START WITH FFS) while the giant Hanging Belly Of Babylon continues to wobble about resplendently. I am hoping at some point my brain will notice it and mobilise the fat burning away from the bits that don’t need it and the belly will catch up!

Yes I have the same...7 pounds of top off healthy BMI 4 pounds off my personal goal. It would be lovely to have a 'perfect' body but at 68 and just under 5 foot it's never going to happen! I dont care anymore. My fella of 5 years isn't complaining either 🤣🤣🤣 He says I look fine lying down 🤣🤣🤣 The only thing I would love to change is my lip lines that look like I have smoked 60 a day (I haven't) and my eye bags. If I was 100% certain a procedure would be amazing I would happily pay. When I had my 2 C sections you could have a tummy tuck for free..just imagine!

Ifyounevergiveup · 15/01/2025 21:09

@Azuresky68 as I approach 60 my lips are trying hard to develop smoker’s lines too, which baffled me until I thought, oh yes, WHISTLING…!

missingthemidlands · 15/01/2025 22:51

Hi all

looking for a bit of advice/sympathy.

have been on mounjaro since may. Have definitely lost weight and gone from a 40.1 bmi to a 30.1 bmi. I really want to aim to get to a 26/27. I am definitely in the slow losers club!!

I’m on 15mg and some weeks I have no food noise at all and other times (like this week) I may as well not be on it. I didn’t take it for two weeks over Christmas and now I’ve done two shots since then and it’s had no impact at all. Do you think the break has ruined it? I didn’t even get any side effects.
