Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

I'm at the 'waiting for pen dispatch' stage. I find their app a little clunky - I had a wild time trying to get them to the point of taking my money for the the pen, turned out it was likely because I entered my postcode initially in lowercase when I registered, and their card processing firm was failing it (despite test transaction for 0.00p working) because it didn't 'match' the one associated with my credit card.

Currently it's complaining about my GP details - they are definitely in the App,

Lotusbug · 06/01/2025 11:15

I find the app a bit clunky too to be honest, it’s not the easiest to navigate and seems to have a fair few teething problems. I had to download and reinstall it a few times to get it to work.

@kittykarate I’ve just this second got my pen dispatch email from the pharmacy after my prescription was done on Saturday

aaaaaand I still have zero emails from SheMed 😂

OneAzureMaker · 06/01/2025 11:22

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I am in the process of calling them now - been on hold a while!
I think what concerns me most is not just the app, but no money has been taken, no emails and others who tested the same day as me have found out somehow, even if it's just money out of their account!

I'm obviously not very patient!! It doesn't help having had the blood test kit since before Christmas and not being able to use it until the 2nd. It feels like a long wait already!

xxCatCrazyxx · 06/01/2025 11:24

Hi all, I signed up on the 31st December so not yet had the blood test. I’m getting slightly nervous that theie latest replies on fb posts about the pen are now mentioning Wegovy and Mounjaro. Looking at the side effects list tiredness is very common with Wegovy and that is definitely something I don’t need as I’m struggling with perimenopause. I also wondered what would happen if you were away on holiday for a week or two and not able to have the weekly call? I’m currently waiting for a call back from SheMed as unable to get through on the phone.
I was so excited to start but definitely getting cold feet.

Shmallow · 06/01/2025 11:27

@xxCatCrazyxx from what I read you get mounjaro unless there are complications in which case they may suggest Wegovy. I'd ignore most of what's on Facebook comments because 98% of the people never seem to have ready anything properly.

According to RM my blood test was received on the 3rd Jan, I took it on the 2nd. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that it is still registered as not having arrived yet on the app. I'm just hoping it's not been lost!

I've not had any emails and there's nothing on the app apart from 'you must return your blood test'.

Mine never registered as received in the app - I did the test on Thursday in the wee hours, posted it Thursday 2nd...app constantly saying 'send your test'. I got a bit nervous, and sent an email double checking it was all ok on Saturday morning (I hadn't kept a record of the royal mail tracking number as I'm an idiot so was worried it was lost in the post), until Saturday lunchtime when it went 'here's your results'. I think they probably are very slow at transferring the results onto their systems, and it's maybe not done on a date order basis.

OneAzureMaker · 06/01/2025 11:37

Thanks @kittykarate I shall keep an eye out. I'm quite sure they're overwhelmed
I'm just hoping my blood sample has not been stuck in an envelope since I sent it on Thursday and needs redoing!

DandyCyanFinch · 06/01/2025 11:45

Well I’ve been rejected because one of my results was mildly elevated. Not quite sure what I’ll do next. Will talk to my GP

xxCatCrazyxx · 06/01/2025 11:46

Thanks for reply @Shmallow , I thought it would be Mounjaro too but some of the replies from SheMed to questions now says it could be either. I will have a chat with them when they call me back…

RumPirate · 06/01/2025 11:52

Hello, I would like to join you all.

I did my test this morning and popped it in the post immediately so am now impatiently waiting to be approved!

I already have the renpho scales and the measuring tape - ahead of a trend for once. My metabolic age is 50 so not a million miles from my real age of 43 but it would be nice to drop that down too.

I am excited to start, I have around 40kg to lose.

Oh no Dandy! That is so frustrating. Are they refunding your blood test?

xxCatCrazyxx · 06/01/2025 11:57

@DandyCyanFinch that’s a shame for you but I guess it’s best to know that there may be something that needs to be looked into. I kind of liked the peace of mind of having the test done before starting something big like this. Good luck with gp!

OneAzureMaker · 06/01/2025 12:08

@DandyCyanFinch I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope your GP is helpful.

DandyCyanFinch · 06/01/2025 12:10

thanks everyone.

@kittykarate no, they’re not. :( though I might ask .

@xxCatCrazyxx they’re not even close to the level that doctors worry about (mildly elevated) and it’s a result that can change a lot, I haven’t spoken to my GP, but I checked the nhs app, and I was right, I had that same test done less than 6 weeks ago and the result was totally normal.

I’m going to email SheMed and ask if I can redo the test in a couple of weeks, to see if that’s changed, but otherwise I guess I’m not doing anything or figuring out how to pay another supplier.

kittykarate · 06/01/2025 12:20

They advertise on the website that you should be refunded for the blood test if you cannot proceed with the programme. (Screenshot attached to back this up).

You should get back on to them.

Also - if it is something like your thyroid tests, the NHS uses different 'boundaries' for normal / elevated to other parts of the world.

Thank you @kittykarate! I was just looking for that on their site!

It’s one of the liver ones, and I checked boundaries elsewhere too, because I’ve come across that as well, and that seems to be pretty similar everywhere.

I’m currently leaning towards going with another provider.

Shmallow · 06/01/2025 13:40

Did anyone actually get updates from royal mail when shemed posted the blood test? I still haven't had anything and they said it would come tomorrow. I'm SO impatient.

Lotusbug · 06/01/2025 13:45

I’m sorry @DandyCyanFinch that must be so frustrating! I hope you get your refund for the testing kit.

I did @Shmallow. I think I got a notification through the app saying it had been shipped too

Shmallow · 06/01/2025 14:27

@Lotusbug they must be watching the thread as I got an email and an app notification. Yay!

KeenGreen · 06/01/2025 14:29

Oh @DandyCyanFinch I am so sorry you have been rejected! That must be disappointing!

Did they say which level was elevated? (Sorry if I missed this somewhere)

Fingers crossed SheMed will sort a refund or allow you to retake it

ETA - I've seen your update now Dandy about it being Liver, sorry for missing that post. Best Wishes,

KeenGreen · 06/01/2025 14:32

@Shmallow

No blood test dispatch notice for me yet either, (ordered 31st December)

App just says 'shipped' but I haven't had a notification/email from Royal Mail or another provider or from SheMed to say it is actually on the way.

Shmallow · 06/01/2025 14:34

@KeenGreen hopefully soon 🤞 I ordered on 29th and they'd told me on live chat last week it would be in the post today.

Welcome and I hope you hear soon!

@OneAzureMaker You did it the same day as me and I got my pen yesterday! Have you got through to them yet?

@DandyCyanFinch I'm so sorry. That doesn't seem to make sense. I'd definitely query it but at the very least you should get your money back.

I've tried their online chat re my results but not getting anywhere!

Eek I just got the email my test kit is dispatched, fingers crossed it comes this week. How long after doing your bloods and sending off did your results come back? Sorry if it’s been asked already in the thread xx
