Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I still haven't managed to get through. I've tried on chat and waited for an hour on the phone and then requested a call back. I also emailed on Saturday and no reply.

I know it's not been long, but knowing that our samples arrived the same day and you have a pen and I've had no communication or anything, I'm a little worried - and keep checking the app and emails!!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/01/2025 14:45

Gosh that's all the frustrating isn't it. I had such good communication with them before Xmas I really wasn't expecting this.

They ought to have enough staff to be responsive as that's their "thing" isn't it. And it's a years project so they must have known now would be busy.

I similarly messaged them Saturday, tried in the online help but it was just spinning and now just requested a call back but I do at least know they just be "okay" enough for SheMed.

Id be so cross in your position I so hope you hear back soon.

And the other poster who has the pen but no emails! It's not great organisation currently is it!?

Eek I just got the email my test kit is dispatched, fingers crossed it comes this week. How long after doing your bloods and sending off did your results come back? Sorry if it’s been asked already in the thread xx

What day did you order yours? Hopefully they're just making their way through the orders and mine should be posted soon!

OneAzureMaker · 06/01/2025 14:53

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden poor communication certainly doesn't help. As you say I know they're busy, but they must have predicted that at this time of year, surely!

Ah well, the wait continues!

CleverKhakiBear · 06/01/2025 15:04

@TheGladLilacDuck I ordered on 29th Dec lovely xx

Shmallow · 06/01/2025 15:08

I think the next couple of weeks will be especially bumpy as so many people will be trying to test each day or chase results!

ploot · 06/01/2025 15:11

Did we all order at the same time on 29th? I've just had confirmation that my blood test has been shipped too 😂

At least they've kept the promise of it being sent out today!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/01/2025 15:13

Yes I'm thinking of thinking it's probably just that they're overwhelmed. It's frustrating kit being able to get hold of anyone though.

I'm hoping maybe the side effects form would get priorotised. I've read some of the Dec thread and quite a few of them are nauseaus on 5mg so I want to be prepared!

OP posts:
Lotusbug · 06/01/2025 17:33

Yes I think they’re overwhelmed too, I tried to contact them today to sort out my emails (or lack thereof). Tried the live support twice and it just kept saying “transferring to agent”. I then tried to call them at lunch time and after hanging on for almost an hour I requested a call back which is yet to arrive.

It’s a tad disappointing, they should have predicted the influx really. Never mind- we’re in it for the long haul now and I’m sure it’ll settle down in a few weeks (hopefully!)

ZoZo25 · 06/01/2025 17:48

I have just signed up today.
I have a BMI of 30 and some health conditions that make excess weight a nightmare: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & Lipodema.
I've been doing Keto for 2 months and lost half a stone but now have stalled. I just want something to work!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/01/2025 17:55

Gosh I keep seeing my typos. 😳. Oops. I really should proof read.

Lotus - I didn't get a call back either. Grrr. I will start Friday anyway but it isn't great customer service at all. Maybe when they've sorted all their testing kits and if they close the £99 trial enrolment they'll have more availability. If they keep going they won't keep up.

@ZoZo25 welcome!!

I got the email saying my blood test was delayed on Friday but the app says it’s been shipped now so hopefully not long. So excited!

I also got the email on Friday about delays and today got the email saying it's been shipped x

Flo8228 · 06/01/2025 23:47

Im hoping to start up on friday, got about 6 stone to lose, found it so hard to lose weight since having my 2 children, fingers crossed 🤞 this helps, just abit worried about the side affects

bumblebee1987 · 07/01/2025 00:34

Can anyone who is already on mounjaro or been on it, help me with something?

I don't eat because I'm hungry or because I want food. It's a habit. I eat more even when I'm already uncomfortable from eating too much! Will mounjaro stop this? I'm worried that it won't make a difference to habitual eating?

Hi. I've been on it since July.
MJ will make you feel full.
You'll stop thinking about food all the time and you'll be able to stop eating when you've had a small portion.

My side-effects have been minimal.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 07:16

I've just realised how limited the MN emoji are as I've just clicked "thanks" to those whose things are in the post where really it's a "yay!"

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne it's so great to have you experience here thankyou 😍.

@DIYMum I’m in Scotland and I started SheMed a few weeks ago! It just means you need to take the blood test results into your GP yourself. SheMed have posted to me without any issue. Working for me so far, 4.5kg down since the 24th of December (my first injection date). Struggling a bit with side effects but will power on! Starting weight was 19st (120.7kg) and today I’m 18st 4lbs (116.2kg), not bad for two weeks!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 08:54

@GigiTheGiantPanda I thought I'd seen people online turned down for not having an English/Welsh GP. Yay you're in :)

That's amazing in 2 weeks!! How have you found the side effects? And what have you found helped?

Its great to have someone whose already started on the this thread 😊.

I've just booked a blood test with my GP (for fatigue and checking I don't have diabetes - this has been because I've been waiting for an appointment from last year!). I'm now worried my MJ will affect it but it will only be after the first dose. I had so hoped to have my results from shemed.!

Dr has agreed to refer to me to NHS tier 3 and I'll take any help I can get but it might get turned down if I'm on MJ already maybe.

She knows I'm doing the trial with Shemed but she's been so unhelpful about being so overweight before ("just eat less! If all you eat is 3 chocolate bars a day you'll lose weight!) but as long as she knows I guess that's the main thing. I didn't ask her her opinion and I'm glad I didnt! At least it shows I'm trying....

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden they might still find me out but so far so good!

My side effects peak the night of my injection at about 12 hours post. Without too much detail, I need to keep within reaching distance of a toilet (both ends!) haha! My appetite has reduced massively and for some strange reason, I only want to eat fruit and veg! Fatty and sugary foods have given me the ick!

The days after injection I’ve been fine, really just the day of thats an issue and its late evening so not impacting on my daily routine.

My blood results came back after a couple of days so hopefully you aren’t waiting too long. I also raised the possibility of getting MJ through the NHS but my GP said they’re only considering people with a BMI over 40 or those with T2DM so I wasn’t eligible.

Ugh, sounds like your GP needs thrown in the bin! Must be easy for some with good genetics and speedy metabolism! If losing and maintaining weight was that easy, we’d all be a size 6 but as my mamma says “If we all looked the same, the world would be a boring place!”. 💕

Keeping my fingers crossed for you in your upcoming tests 🤞🏻

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 09:26

Thanks :) I have my pen and I'm starting Friday lunch time. I'm hoping I can ride out effects so I'm okay for work Monday. Eeek to "both ends" that sounds horrible but if it's short lived maybe I can plan for that. Maybe as you/we adjust to each dose they will be less.

I know I have to do soemthing and these side effects, although sounding hideous, if they mean I avoid the wls operation and life long side effects, will be worth it.

OP posts:
CleverKhakiBear · 07/01/2025 10:01

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden @GigiTheGiantPanda did your kit come with a side effects package? I remember reading somewhere that they provide you with things to help ride out the side effects xx

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 10:07

Yes - it's in a cute little bag too 😁. There's otc things like gaviscon for diahhrea/constipation/windeze and a card for Hints with side effects. If you get nausea/vomittign though they want you to contact them.

Im not 100% clear if they want you to report all/any side effects or just the ones you need help with. I need to look again.

I tried to join the online webchat to ask about my blood results as I'd like to know before I start Friday. And it said its a 2hour wait!!! So I've sent another form and also complained about communication.

I've ordered the renpho tape measure. I'm on a no spend Jan (ooops) but I got a bit of fomo once I looked it up and decided it would be useful. I am so keen as we all are for it to succeed and numbers and charts might help keep motivation!

OP posts:
Lotusbug · 07/01/2025 10:21

Snap @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden i tried the chat this morning and it said 161 minute wait. I can’t even email them because I don’t get replies. So annoying 😪

I had a call from my GP this morning following up my blood test results- turns out shemed sent a letter to them about further investigation. The letter said they’d emailed me about all of this but I haven’t got it!

On the bright side my stuff is arriving today 🥳
