Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

I am on the same time frames as you as sent bloods back Wednesday and just waiting.

In the app it just says analysing bloods, could take up to 4 days. I've not had any other communication.
Have you?
This waiting is very hard. I am so worried about being turned down.

I have quiet a bit more than you to loose & only just have realisation of how much. Trying not to sooth worry with food as really need to take action now

I've not had anything since the email telling me to post after I completed the blood test but I'm not too worried about that.

I wouldn't worry about being rejected, if you have got this far there. I am sure I have seen them comment that there is not much in the blood test that would result in refusal (and in some cases have been issued without the blood test having been done).

I have just been upping my water intake as I've heard that it's essential. Mainly so I can get used to walking up the stairs several times to go for a wee 😆 haven't changed the way I eat, although I am in the process of meal planning which I'm finding difficult with not knowing how my appetite will be affected so just healthier choices next week.

And don't compare your starting weight to anyone else, or even compare your losses to anyone either. I've seen several people frustrated they're not losing what others have and if your spending 100 a month to help you don't want anything making you feel unmotivated with it

Shmallow · 17/01/2025 12:33

Like @Mieliwood says try not to worry about comparing to anyone else who is starting out. We're all in it for the same reason and when you're on the programme realistically the only way your weight is going to go for a year is down, and overall health will go up! We're all starting from the same point of being motivated to give it a go, there's no judgement on what the scales are saying.

@Bigknickers56 the blood test attaches to your upper arm (it sticks on) and you don't have to locate veins or anything, it's almost painless, honestly. It's a bit magic!

bluesmartie83 · 17/01/2025 13:39

I've done it blood sample taken and posted! I cannot believe how easy this whole process has been - fingers crossed this continues 🤞(I've probably jinxed it now!). I hope I am as lucky with minimal side effects as so many of you are.

KeenGreen · 17/01/2025 17:12

Hi all 😊

Been a hectic few days at work, so sorry not been on.

The thread has been busy! Great to see so many new people join too!

My jab arrived on Tuesday and I stocked up on some of the Aldi protein range in preparation for jabbing today.

I jabbed at about 1.30 earlier, I did the check in call and weighed myself and then opted to not jab live on the call so I wouldn’t feel hurried.

I’d barely eaten, I had some breakfast biscuits in a hurry in the morning that’s it. I took the jab then had immediately toast for lunch as I wasn’t sure I wanted anything too rich in case.

The around 3.30pm on the way back from school pick up after hurrying down the road for pick up, I started feeling a little dizzy and lightheaded.

By 4pm I was shaking and dizzy, google tells me it’s probably low blood sugar I had a chicken protein snack thing.
then had dinner which was a cheese and mushroom omelette. Still feeling shaky, dizzy and a little queasy now but nothing too bad. Just super paranoid about it getting worse. 😬

So for me so far to report, minor side effects around 3 hours after jab.

How is everyone else doing with side effects?

xxCatCrazyxx · 17/01/2025 17:20

@KeenGreen I jabbed yesterday lunchtime. I had a bit of a headache last night, took some paracetamol and had an early night. I Woke up fine today. I’m eating but getting full quickly.

Hopefully you’ll feel better tomorrow.

Shmallow · 17/01/2025 17:22

Hope it passes soon @KeenGreen , sounds like eating little and often is the way to make sure blood sugar is up. I had a slight headache at bedtime yesterday but that's pretty much it! I had a slice of seed/rye bread for breakfast with peanut butter, a protein bar at about 11, soup and a tiny lump of bread for lunch and I'm still basically full. So I'm sure it's doing something! Normally I'd be bloody starving by now after that 🤣 I've been keeping my water intake up as I'm normally terrible for that. Dinner will be some smoked tofu and whole grain/soy bean/kale thing that's in the fridge.

Shmallow · 17/01/2025 17:23

Basically same as @xxCatCrazyxx !

CleverKhakiBear · 17/01/2025 17:26

@KeenGreen aww bless you lovely I hope the symptoms settle soon.

I have gotten approved by clinician and they estimate to deliver my pen tomorrow. I am sooooo nervous now, I know it's something I've been wanting for a long time and put it off due to breastfeeding but we've stopped now and I'm ready to have my body back.

Do the jabs hurt?x

Needtomust96 · 17/01/2025 17:29

Hi all, thought I'd join this thread. My blood test was received yesterday. Very anxiously waiting results and hoping I'll be approved. I'm guessing it will be sometime next week.

Shmallow · 17/01/2025 17:48

No it really doesn't hurt much at all, probably about as much as the blood test. I jabbed in the thigh, maybe it helped.

KeenGreen · 17/01/2025 17:49

Sounds good! I’m loving people post about food great for ideas 😊

hopefully I’ll wake up tomorrow and have little appetite too! I’ve retreated to the bed for now I’m so cold! Not sure if a symptom or just cold though 🤣

Thank you,

I didn’t even feel it at all! No pain whatsoever, I injected in tummy area and the needle is tiny.

Mieliwood · 17/01/2025 09:41

Hey everyone, just joined mumsnet so I could post on here though I've been reading for the last two weeks!

Ordered blood test Monday, dispatched Tuesday and received Thursday. Sent back Thursday afternoon and they've received it! How cool is that Tasso kit though? Definitely need to be using those in hospital, I'm one that they can never get blood out of and even I was shocked when I looked down to see it was full! Even more so for kids that are apprehensive!

Now for me it's just a waiting game for them to review bloods and hopefully issue. Currently 106kg - but tall so seem to carry it well, but I am sick of feeling like crap and general aching. I put off going to the GP because the first thing I'm told, no matter what i go for, is lose weight and it will solve everything, either that or your depressed that's the problem, despite my mental health generally being in a good place. (I guess you will all know what i mean)

To get ready for all the potential changes I've been reading as much as I can. With it being better to reach a sensible calorie deficit, would it be better to eat higher calorie, high protein, fibre rich foods given that the volume of food will be an issue?

Best of luck with your journeys folks :)

Exactly why I joined the forum! 🤣

Hello,
Joined up to SheMed after a bit of internal debate but need to do something. Turning 50 on Monday 😱 already lost 3 stone watching my diet and exercise but I am now waiting on a partial knee replacement due to too much contact sport in my 20’s (and they say sport is good for you) so struggling recently.
i joined a SheMed fb group and they are all talking about clean eating, hydrating and lifting to get ready for the diet but my concern is if they did that surely they’d lose weight anyway?
So I found you guys. I’ve been researching what to eat as it doesn’t seem like SheMed provides lifestyle advice or does it once the injections start?
I know all the nutrition but struggle to put it into practice and just want to not have to think about food 24/7 as you have to when doing slimming world or weight watchers. I want to be one of those people that forget to eat.
sorry for the rant…
Hoping everyone is getting on ok today. I’m just waiting on my blood test results. They received them back on Thursday so I guess I’m looking at mid next week now until I hear.

Totally agree! I’ve been lurking on FB group too and can’t get my head round all the focus on protein shakes and supplements.
My hope is that Mounjaro will switch off the obsessing about food/diet and allow me to be like those people who can just eat reasonable portions of a healthy diet and get on with their lives.
I'm trying not to view it as a diet so not calorie counting and enjoying the feeling that I don’t need to clear my plate or to snack between meals.
Fingers crossed it works 🤞

SassPot09 · 17/01/2025 19:21

Evening everyone
Blood test done this afternoon and sent off in post, so just a waiting game.
Didn't rate the call with Shemed. I couldn't understand the lady I was speaking with and each step seemed to take an age and I had to keep repeating my weight which was like a kick in the teeth as I was heavier than I thought 😅
Looked in the mirror nude and I'm sure I've put on a stone since this morning.

Anyway fingers crossed I'll get the pen and be starting this time next week!
Hope everyone's weekend is good and not full of side effects x

Reginaphalangeeeee · 17/01/2025 19:27

@Shmallow and @Mieliwood
My bloods are back this evening and payment has been taken 😍
Cholesterol a bit high and into red zone but all other ok.
I had a missed call from shemed at 6pm. Tried calling them back but says open 9-5 Monday-Friday. Not sure when to expect a delivery now.
Does everyone get a call?
Doesn't say what my prescription will be yet.

Mazd323 · 17/01/2025 19:32

@Reginaphalangeeeee when did they receive your blood sample? Just wondering how many days it's taking to get results back at the moment.

I did and sent back my blood test Wednesday. Have been anxiously waiting but results came 5.30 and payment came out this evening 6.30

Mazd323 · 17/01/2025 19:42

Has anybody heard if they've been accepted over a weekend or should I stop checking now till Monday?

RedHillLady · 17/01/2025 19:48

@DIYMum @PurpleClare50

I can see why you are a bit confused after the facebook group chats. I started on Saturday and haven't been counting calories, just trying to eat small healthy portions. That said, I have really struggled to eat enough some days and have had a couple of high protein products to supplement my daily intake.
I also plan to take a multivitamin.

Seems the process has got better and quicker looking at some reviews

Hello all,

just thought I’d give you guys a little update about side effects as I jabbed yesterday lunchtime. More of a lack of really as I haven’t had any at all yet. It’s kinda magic though, I’m not fixated on food at all like I used to be! I had porridge for breakfast before work at 6am then had a banana around 11 to fuel up but I could have gone without it! Usually I’d be hungry by 9. Then a couple boiled eggs at 3pm and then managed about two thirds of my dinner at 6:30. Didnt even want a sweet treat after my dinner!! Will keep you updated with any side effects but just making sure I’m staying hydrated as possible. Really enjoying reading all of your experiences and happy to answer any questions always xxx

CleverKhakiBear · 17/01/2025 20:38

So prescription and everything has gone through and I'm waiting for my pen. I'm so anxious now, after having read the letter for gp from SheMed I am now thinking have I done the right thing? Which is silly because I've been super excited up until this point and hopeful for the future 😭😭
