Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

Hi everyone

I've just completed my blood test, will post this morning and then the wait for the results. As much as I desperately need to lose weight and want to be approved, I am petrified of the potential side effects! The worst one for me will be nausea/vomiting as I have emetophobia but I also have a really stressful job so I'm worried if it makes my energy levels worse as well 😢

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/01/2025 08:01

It does seem like it helps regulate all sorts of things doesnt it. And agree I'm hoping for a cheaper maintenance longer term. I've got a lot to loose so realistically it will take me more than the year anyway but the fear is it all returning when you stop how ever much you lose isn't it!

Hope this jab doesn't bring you any side effects. Is it you who is going skiing?? When do you go? Have a fab time (and apologies if it's the wrong poster!)

I leave on Sunday with hubby and kids. We are also going with friends so I'm hoping security don't put me, I don't want anyone to know I'm on it, maybe when I've lost some weight but not right now.
I've got a bad knee so I think skiing will be hard. I wish I'd lost weight before as I'm sure my knee is weight related! It will be interesting to see how much I can eat whilst away and if the side effects are stronger with the rich food.
I feel thirsty again, it came on about an hour post jab so probably is a side effect, but if that's it I will take it!!

Shmallow · 15/01/2025 09:13

V jealous, I love skiing!

Pen currently estimated to be delivered tomorrow but not sure it's actually been sent. I'll jab asap when I get it.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/01/2025 09:15

@Madcatwoman123 Hope you hear soon! Everyone seems to experience it differently with side effects. I've got a lot to lose so know I'll need to ride them out which is a bit daunting - and I'm jabbing Friday after work so there's maximum chance of the worst being over for me. There's lots of advice about for managing them though and shemed do provide some otc bits too.

@tinyemmy I hope they don't out you - in my experience they're all just trying to go as fast as possible and don't pay much attention to actual medication other than when they stare at their screen. What might be an issue is is it still in clear plastic bags in a tray ? Might your partner/friends literally see you put it down or will it be with other things so not obvious maybe? I expect in the rush of it all noone is really looking. Good luck and hope the holiday is lovely. :)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden no, I didn’t. I just said it’s mine and squirrels it away!

First dose done! That was stressful.

@tinyemmy it will be worth it! I didn’t think about airport so I’m interested in your experience! Xx

gillirhys · 15/01/2025 09:40

Wahey! Pen on way.

Now I have a dilemma. I'm in panto Saturday, both matinee and evening. And then again next Friday and Saturday.

Got to work out best day to avoid side effects as I don't think either a top or bottom accident whilst facing a load of dancing kids will quite work

Well done doing blood test today. Mine is arriving sometime today but I am now confused….
is it a fasting test or not?
I have been up since 5am and had a piece of toast at 7. If I avoid eating lunch til 1pm I could be 6 hours fasting but not sure if it is needed?
All I can think about is food and what treat to have next to get me through the day.🙁

BruhWhy · 14/01/2025 16:11

Took my blood test today, might've followed the instructions too well because it was a bloodbath 😂

Sent off, just a waiting game now.

Did you fast for them?

Thank you! I've left it in the bubble wrap between my contact lenses and my oestrogel, so I can happily say there is "liquid" medication and be referring to the HRT🤞
They have previously pulled my oestrogel but it's in a smaller packet now so fingers crossed!! I've also put the prescription on the outside so hopefully they won't need to unpack.
I'm hopeful!

I did mine before eating but just because I needed to get it done before work. I was also confused as it says fasting on the box but I got an email saying this wasn't necessary.

I think you can probably overthink it, I'd get started sooner rather than later. That said I seem to be one of the lucky ones in that I don't have a lot of side effects. I wondered the same about whether to jab the day it arrived on Wednesday or wait until after my day in the office on Thursday or delay until Sunday so I didn't need to take it away with me. I think after a few weeks it shouldn't matter too much what day you take it on but there has definitely been a reduction in symptoms on the last few days and more symptoms on the first few days, so I'd say jab today and by the weekend you should be good but still have some suppression. If you don't want suppression on the weekend then start on Sunday evening.

Thank you for this. I think I will maybe wait until Sunday as that way my first performances will be out of the way, and then can take the second jab on the following Sunday.😀
Hopefully I will get into a good rhythm over time, but dont want to risk 4 months of rehearsals due to first jab.

Sorry @tinyemmy - I should say it hasnt arrived yet as only got approved this morning. So by the time it arrives I think it would be too close to performance!

Ah I didn't realise you were performing, yes Sunday post is probably the best bet just in case.
Best of luck with the performance and the jab!

Afternoon! Fantastic news to everyone who's pens are on the way and to those powering through symptoms/feeling somewhat better 🥳

And a big hello/welcome to the new starters 🤎

I am still waiting for the results and patience is not my strong suit lol😅

@FollyDear any news with your results?

Annathomps · 15/01/2025 13:00

Hi everyone,
I am also waiting for my blood test results, they received them back yesterday so I’m hoping that it won’t be too much longer until i know if I’ve been accepted or not..
I’ve got about 4 to 5 stone to lose and I feel I’ve been comfort eating even more since I signed up, whilst anxiously waiting to know if I’ve been accepted!
good luck to everyone starting their journey too :)

BestDIL · 15/01/2025 13:05

I signed up to Shemed last night after cancelling my order with Pharmacy2U which would have worked out sooooo much more expensive. Can't wait to start my journey. Great savings with Shemed and reassuring that price guaranteed for a year and no increase with dose increases. I'll be back to update once I have my kit.

LillithMorning · 15/01/2025 13:05

Been lurking a good while now, thought I would finally say hello.

I sent my bloods off 2 days ago so just awaiting results. Fingers crossed. I do have some other health conditions so we shall see!

Have felt a lot less nervous seeing other people sharing their experiences 🩷

Mazd323 · 15/01/2025 13:07

Blood test done, which was really easy and pain free and taken to the post office. Now just the wait to see if I'm accepted 🤞🏼.

I can so relate to this!! Since signing up I have been both more conscious about eating and stress eating facing the issue!

Blood test came this morning, I'd already had a piece of toast very early but desperate to begin.
I waited 4 hours then called them.
I was told fasting not required but water hydration is. I said it says to fast 6 hours on the box but was told it was outdated.

Just dropped at post office for 13.30 collection. Then for some weird reason have rewarded myself with a muffin... Blush
I am so embarrassed by my weight and facing the scales always spirals me down. I just hope I am accepted.

Shmallow · 15/01/2025 14:39

Right! Pen is here earlier than I expected BUT I seem to have a tummy bug so won't be injecting until it's gone as I don't want to make anything worse 😭

BigBloodyStupidHat · 15/01/2025 15:41

Hey!

I'm sorry if I've missed if this has been asked before.

For those of you who have been accepted and received your pens, did Shemed specify the day you had to jab or can you decide that for yourself?

I understand that you have to stick to the same day every week once you start but ideally I want to jab on a Sunday afternoon.

Just signed up today & waiting for my blood test to be sent out. Super anxious right now, has anyone else had a panic about whether they were doing the right thing after signing up?
I’ve told my other half about it & he’s very supportive but I’m so anxious!
