Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

I have finally been approved!

Bloods went back Monday 7th and it took them until 9.30 last night to update the app with the results. I had raised levels for cholesterol and a moderately raised liver test but they approved it today and have said I should get the jab tomorrow but we will see.

I really could do with the help of these meds after getting in a nasty car crash last week and being pretty much bed bound probably for the next 3-4 weeks and a slow journey back to the gym ahead of me.

OneAzureMaker · 14/01/2025 13:44

So, I've just done something I vowed I wouldn't do, and have stood on the scales. I had my first injection last Friday. I think I've eaten a bit less, I feel a bit grotty but not awful, but I've lost 3kg 😱

Yay! Well done.
MJ is magic.

I lost an enormous amount (12lb) in my first week.

I'm in my seventh month on it now, and I'm losing 1 and a half pounds a week now. Sometimes 2lb.

I've still got 4st to lose, but I've lost a total of 6st 6lb since last January.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/01/2025 14:27

Great to log on and see lots of good news!

@Lotusbug Yay for 2nd injection! And 8lb is incredible :)
@OneAzureMaker 3kg - wow. There is magic happening :)
@Shmallow You are in!

@TLMoo Yay for being approved! You will soon have a pen in your hands :)
@RumPirate Yay for being approved! Although so sorry to hear about the car accident - that sounds really frightening. Have you got some good netflix lined up to watch ? Is there anyone else in the house to help look after you?

@CleverKhakiBear and @FollyDear Hope you hear soon! Do let us know :)

@DIYMum how are you feeling now? I think you've had the worst side effects of us all so far. I watched the documentary too and was so pleased how much even a small percentage of weight loss made to them. Although Im much heavier than the 16 st lady eek.

@tinyemmy - wow second jab tomorrow - we are doing this :)
@TLMoo - GOod luck with the doctor. I hope they listen properly this time.

I think a few people have mentioned raised cholesterol/liver levels. My note from my GP with mine was that this was likely weight related so Im really hoping to see these go down :)

@xxCatCrazyxx Has your pen arrived? Have you decided when you will jab?

I am still a bit lethargic today. Nauseaus in the morning and occasionally through the day. Its manageable but definitely "there". However I am not craving snacks like I normally do and made myself eat breakfast, then ate lunch as I realised it was "late" . For me Im going to try to eat 3 relatively not UPF meals a day and will absolutely eat if im hungry (former issues around food)but hoping that I can be more mindful now IM on this drug. I think if i feel this nauseaus all year I will definitely lose but for the wrong reasons....!!!

These losses are incredible, well done everyone!

I hope everyone's side effects wear off soon, I'm sure it will take our bodies some getting used to but will be worth it in the long run 😍

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I don't feel like I have any suppression left, although I did skip breakfast again today. I'm thinking about what extras I'm going to eat after dinner and had lunch pudding which I haven't been having all week, I've also not drunk as much water the last couple of days so it's definitely time for the jab
I hope your nausea goes, isn't it interesting how we all react differently. I'm hoping that I stay relatively side effect free particularly as I fly on Sunday and third jab is whilst I'm skiing!
Cheeky weigh in says I've lost about 3lbs this week so I'm happy with that. I will do the official weigh in tomorrow.

RumPirate · 14/01/2025 15:33

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I hope you get some energy back and the nausea eases for you.

I am in front of the TV with a little nest set up. DP thankfully works from home so he is around for some much needed support. He and the DC are enjoying telling me off everytime I try to get up or do anything.

I don't have much of an appetite at the moment and the pain killers are already making me a bit backed up so I will just jab as soon as it comes - I don't think it'll make me any more uncomfortable!

BruhWhy · 14/01/2025 16:11

Took my blood test today, might've followed the instructions too well because it was a bloodbath 😂

Sent off, just a waiting game now.

Adelstrop · 14/01/2025 16:11

How do you take the blood test? I've only ever had bloods taken by a nurse and I'm sure I couldn't do that myself. Interested to know, as it looks like a good offer.

It's like a little disc you stick on your arm and press a button. It's completely painless, a lancet pops out and scratches you and the blood drips into a vial attached on the disc.

xxCatCrazyxx · 14/01/2025 17:08

Wow Seems like things are really moving on for everyone, including the scales! Great news.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden Yes arrived today thankfully and taken in by my lovely neighbour. I think I’m favouring Thurs eve for jabbing at the moment. Would really love to go for it today but must be patient! Hope you’re not feeling too tired at the mo.

Shmallow · 14/01/2025 18:00

It's all going on today! Sounds like we're all moving in the right direction. Not sure my pen has been posted but I did get all the approval emails so it's all on. So happy about that. Looking forward to joining the jabbers soon!

MojoJojo71 · 14/01/2025 18:14

Sent my blood test yesterday and they received it this morning. How long did others wait before they got the results and approval for the meds?

hello. Joining in for the first time. My first pen arrived today!

The packaging is not discreet!! It attracted the attention of my whole household! Shame, as I haven’t told anyone.

I hope to find time in the morning to administer it 😬😁

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 14/01/2025 22:49

Welcome @Bythe! Did you tell them what it was?? Good luck tomorrow morning :)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I was reading your posts on the other thread where the troll was, and so glad your started your own for everyone. This feels such a welcoming place and I love that you spend the time trying to respond to so many. Shows you care, which means this is a good place to be.

Loving hearing everyone's progress and wish everyone well

Good morning all,

I jabbed first thing, call connected very quickly, probably under a minute.
I did the jab in my own as I won't be checking in next week and was much more successful (last week I only did half of the medication and had to put it in again to finish and I didn't do the extra 5 seconds.
This week I did it properly but there was liquid on my stomach and the needle so I guess not all of it went in, I'm seeing it as a slower titration up worst case. Fingers crossed for no side effects.
@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden when are you jabbing?
Oh and I lost 3.5lbs this week 🙌 I'd normally have to cut off a limb to lose that much!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/01/2025 07:44

@tinyemmy Wahooo to all the things. Second injection by yourself and 3.5 lbs is fab :).

I'm jabbing Friday so a couple more days. I've "slept through" the last 2 nights which I'm pleased about. I've had my period (super irregular) so I think it will show a weight loss but may be a post period low rather than a true one!

I'm so relived about my bloods (gp) I had got quite anxious. Todays anxiety is work related. I hope the drug doesn't make anxiety worse 😬.

Brilliant, roll on Friday! I had a bit of a sleepless night last night, probably worrying about the jab! I hope that's it for the sleepless nights now 🤞
How interesting, I lost my periods when I was about 19 which is when they discovered I had an under active thyroid but they've never really come back and I've been on the mini pill for a long time. They started to come back irregularly when I gave up gluten. I do wonder if I have PCOS. I've also always struggled with feelings of high and low blood sugar and huge dips in the afternoon. I think this drug will be much more helpful to me than "just" weight loss. Hopefully they find an affordable way for us to stay on it. I'm hoping they release some sort of maintenance plan after the 12 months, I suspect I will spend some of the 12 months in maintenance. We shall see!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 15/01/2025 08:01

It does seem like it helps regulate all sorts of things doesnt it. And agree I'm hoping for a cheaper maintenance longer term. I've got a lot to loose so realistically it will take me more than the year anyway but the fear is it all returning when you stop how ever much you lose isn't it!

Hope this jab doesn't bring you any side effects. Is it you who is going skiing?? When do you go? Have a fab time (and apologies if it's the wrong poster!)
