Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

So I'm 6 days post first jab

  • first 2 days I felt a little off colour, not sicky, but very windy. Also worried in case the downwards wind was hinting that diarrhea was incoming , but actually all was normal on that front.
  • that settled down and now I'm feeling pretty good

Suppression wise, it's basically made me feel fuller sooner, and it has given me permission not to clear my plate.

I'm on holiday this week, I haven't experienced a loss of energy(yet). Will see how they handle my check in when I don't have access to scales. I did a pre holiday weigh in, and it was 1kg down.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 17:11

@kittykarate ,sounds like a fab, first week! Hope the holiday has been good. "Permission not to clear the plate" is a good way to put it. I can see how people lose weight if it takes away that gremlin asking us to eat!,

Being able to eat like a normal person for a year had got to help hasn't it.

On my other issues - I'm still trying to get a response from them about my actual blood test results. I think they've lost them. I have had a message yesterday asking me to conform the last 3 numbers of my phone number ... and then nothing. And yes noticed the online help has become only bots!

Those of you with elevated blood test results - do they give you any information? Or have you been to a GP? Or are you just leaving it?

My blood test results were yesterday but clinical report came through today and it’s a letter they are sending to my GP it just includes all the test results and my questionnaire responses.

I had one liver enzyme in amber zone and all it says about it, is that they are sharing it with GP who may want to repeat the test but otherwise doesn’t offer further explanations etc so I doubt you’re missing much to be honest!

OneAzureMaker · 13/01/2025 17:32

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I wouldn't worry too much, bear in mind most other companies issue the injections without a blood test and based on the questionnaire.

To all those waiting for results I hope you get them soon. I found chat, email and phone very slow to get a response, but Facebook messenger worked much better!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 17:33

Thanks Keen. I think it's more my anxiety somethings wrong. I assumed it was all okay when I thought it had been "checked" 10 days ago - I think I'll have my gps results by Friday. 🤞.

I'm literally so tired I've gone to lie down. Google says it doesn't directly cause tiredness but maybe it's linked to soemthing else. Who knows!

I’m impressed with SheMed so far.
I’ve been feeling lousy since Sat night with trips to the toilet every couple of hours (I’ll spare you the details😬), headache and awful sulphur burps. Feeling absolutely washed out. Was starting to feel I’d made a terrible mistake starting this.
I filled out a side effects form this morning and received a call from one of their Pharmacists this afternoon. She was really helpful - talked me through side effects and remedies - reassured me - no pressure to keep on medication if it continued.
Started feeling better by late afternoon so hopefully I’m over the worst 🤞
Trust me to have awful side effects - I was feeling quite smug Friday/Saturday that I seemed to have got away with it - that’ll teach me 🙄

Kevel · 13/01/2025 18:50

I’ve been injecting 2.5 Mounjaro for 3 months with another supplier and am just increasing to 5mg. Is it easy to switch to Shemed when already on the medication or do they give preference to new users.

That sounds horrible. I'm sorry pleased they've been supportive and helpful though, that is reassuring.

Hello! Hope it's been a good 3 months. Shemed is only offering the £99 a month scheme to those who have been off MJ for at least a month. They're running the reduced price as a trial.

They do seem to have a £199 non trial price but I'm sure there's cheaper out there!

Gosh @DIYMum that does sound horrible. It's what I've been worried about as I couldn't deliver training at the same time. So sorry you've been through it. I'm so glad they responded quickly and had suggestions. It does sound like that side of it all is working which is good. You say no pressure to stay on meds does that mean you could leave the contract? Obviously ideally it will settle (did they say it would?)

I am so washed out today but I've not got any of the more horrible side effects.

Oh and my good news post 🎉🎉🎉.

I am not diabetic! My Dr results were in. Raised liver ananaine something (?) but she just wants to test again in 6 weeks and looking at the rest my cholesterol is a bit raised . But I'm hoping both come down with weight loss.

I haven't compeltely broken myself.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden WOOOOO that's fabulous news!!

xxCatCrazyxx · 13/01/2025 19:17

That’s great news @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden !
My pen is being delivered tomorrow, thankfully a neighbour can take it on for me. Now just to decide whether to jab Thurs or Friday. Friday is my day of but I’m also thinking about possible weekend always etc as I travel to relatives some weekends…

Shmallow · 13/01/2025 20:17

Great news @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, must be such a relief!

DIYMum · 13/01/2025 21:03

@OneAzureMaker @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden
Thanks guys.
Definitely feels like the worst is over, thank goodness 🤞
She did ask if I wanted to carry on, which I took to mean did I want to drop out of the contract and I was starting to think that if it carried on much longer I couldn’t function.
I really want this to work so will persevere and hope the next jab doesn’t have the same effect.
Definitely feeling less of the urge to snack which has been my downfall on all previous attempts to lose weight.
Onwards and upwards 😊

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 21:06

Gosh DIY. When is your next jab? Have you got drugs/ideas to help with it? Good luck.

I’ve now got a bumper supply of Dioralyte in and bought some ginger tea - I’m usually a big coffee drinker but have gone right off it.

TLMoo · 13/01/2025 22:54

@Shmallow I've just had my blood results back! All out of ideal range and my thyroid is off the charts which is frustrating as I've tried to get my GP to prescribe Levythroxine for bloomin years and he's fobbed me off at every opportunity and told me to lose weight. Will wait for the decision now but I won't be surprised if it's a no given my thyroid!

Hope yours are on the way too!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 13/01/2025 23:58

Hello all, excited to be here having made the decision to do this. I have a lot to loose (21st one currently) but not really sure what my end goal is.
ordered kit today so hoping I can do blood test in next few days if arrives.

does anyone know what they look for which may mean you are rejected after bloods?

also… anyway around sharing GP as don’t really want GP to know.

thanks all for capturing your experiences, I have been encouraged reading through.

Shmallow · 14/01/2025 07:44

Mine came in early this morning @TLMoo! Finally. Sorry to hear about your thyroid results but at least it might give the useless gp a kick up the bum to get your sorted. Silver linings?

My results were all ok except very slightly into amber AST and some of my cholesterol results were pretty dire. Not a surprise as I'm overweight and live on cheese but definitely a wake up call seeing it on 'paper' like that. I really hope I'm approved today!

TLMoo · 14/01/2025 07:47

@Shmallow yay so pleased!! Yes I would imagine the majority of us have some not ideal cholesterol levels but hopefully weight loss will fix that! Yes I'll wait for the results but at least I know I'm not going crazy it's just my GP being unwilling to listen to me!

Here's hoping we know in the next couple of hours!

Shmallow · 14/01/2025 08:01

@tlmoo 🤞🤞🤞 surely they'll review today and give us an answer. I have a long train ride to sit there staring at the app 😆

I have an under active thyroid and on medication and they said that wouldn't stop it.

TLMoo · 14/01/2025 08:12

@tinyemmy I'm not medicated so that's where I may struggle! My GP believes my thyroid is fine so I'm inclined to think they will tell me I need to sort that out first. Could be wrong, hope I'm wrong haha!
