Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

@ploot that's fab news! Did you find out today?x

@Shmallow haha I did this last night got in a cheeky takeaway 😅

CleverKhakiBear · 13/01/2025 08:47

TLMoo · 13/01/2025 08:20

@CleverKhakiBear I am so bloomin untrusting though my brain is just consistently telling me it's lost and I'll have to start again haha! Good job I've got a busy day at work hopefully take my mind off it

I feel you on this, even tho Royal Mail shows delivered I keep thinking but has the lab actually got my labs 🙈

Mine said delivered for 5 days before I got results, so I suspect it is there. It seems as though they don't always sort things in a logical order.

I couldn't get through on the phone or chat, but sent a FB message and within an hour of them replying to it the results were up and medication was on the way!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 09:32

Morning! I've not been online much over the weekend and just catching up with everyone.

@ploot , @xxCatCrazyxx ,@KeenGreen@Tiredftmum Wahoooo - great to hear you've been approved and the pen will be on the way. Now for the obsessive tracking/waiting of the pen 😂. Do shout when you get them and what day you go for -

I think @TLMoo @Shmallow @TheGladLilacDuck @CleverKhakiBear you are all waiting? Some of you ages! I hope you hear very soon. Mine was so quick but I think they're backlogged with all the NY people aren't they.

And @bumblebee1987 and @Primotomb hello if I've not said it before - I think you've both recently tested so hope you hear soon :)

@MojoJojo71 I think you were doing your blood test today - I hope it went okay?

@themumformerlyknownas welcome ! I hope you get some answers - is it worth having a chat with your GP first?
@ArmyMedic2024 - Welcome! I did wonder if they were taking just women - great to have you with us.

@OneAzureMaker , @Lotusbug ,@Monmonss @tinyemmy @DIYMum and @ArmyMedic2024 I think we have all jabbed - how is everyone getting on?

I jabbed Friday and Sat started with low level nausea and like OneAzure says spent the day just feeling "not right and a bit dizzy. I also slept all afternoon. I don't know if it was psychological or body reaction. I then started my period Sunday (very irregular peri/m/obese) so don't know if it kick started that or if both were causing symptoms maybe! Sunday and today I've woken quite nauseous and its helped to eat something. Like Lotus I've had headaches but again could be tied up wtih TOTM.

Foodwise- I've noticed I haven't got the munchies as much - happy to eat, so not put off food, just not that craving/must have now. If i can regulate this this would help I think.

I now feel normal so I think jabbing Friday might be good for me. I've got no tummy-issues thankfully.

Dont know if that was too much information! I hope those of you who have started already are okay. Is anyone onto their second one?

Really sorry for anyone who has been missed out or not replied to - do shout!

All the best today for those waiting/doing blood tests/ managing food/etc!

On my other issues - I'm still trying to get a response from them about my actual blood test results. I think they've lost them. I have had a message yesterday asking me to conform the last 3 numbers of my phone number ... and then nothing. And yes noticed the online help has become only bots!

Those of you with elevated blood test results - do they give you any information? Or have you been to a GP? Or are you just leaving it?

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden sorry to hear about the symptoms. I only had a headache for the first day / perhaps 24 hours. I have since then been very thirsty and drank a lot of water so hence no longer have the headaches.
I have struggled to sleep a bit but last night got up for a wee so it's probably just all the extra water that is stopping me sleeping as opposed to anything else.
I decided to fast yesterday, skipping breakfast and lunch and found it very easy. I also had some chocolates but I just had the five I chose and didn't go back for more. One of the reasons I chose to fast was because I felt hungry but just didn't know what to eat so ate nothing where as normally that would have me raiding the cupboard so I think it's doing something but when I eat I can eat my normal portion sizes.
My second jab is due on Wednesday and I'm strangely looking forward to it? I guess hoping that I get more suppression? Although not too much as I go on holiday on Sunday!!

Shmallow · 13/01/2025 09:40

Yes still waiting here! It doesn't even say it's been delivered by Royal Mail, as far as they're concerned it's been in the sorting office since 2am the day after I posted - but they do say they've got it and are processing.

OneAzureMaker · 13/01/2025 09:46

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden slight symptoms continue here. Possibly eating a little less, no snacking and I've felt quite thirsty, so have drunk water and had fruit. A very slight sensation of nausea, nothing awful or debilitating, it's just there.

Some of my results were raised, cholesterol and liver, I haven't contacted my GP. I suspect they are largely weight related so hope that if that changes, then so will they. None of them are a quick fix and both should improve with a good diet.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 10:10

@tinyemmy I've woken in the night too! I think I'm needing a wee a lot more in general. I like to think it's all the fat cells dying in my mind 😁. I also want to get jab 2 out the way and hoping the effects build. Obviously I want to lose 10stone this month if possible :D
@Shmallow at least they have it but it's been ages hasn't it! Hope you hear today.
@OneAzureMaker I think I've been similar symptoms wise - nothing debilitating - just "there".

I'm expecting mine are raised (ironically waiting for a blood test at the GP now as I type!) but also I think losing a large amount of weight seems to help most things doesn't it.

I'm so glad to have started this. Ive seen a few people online who have lost a lot of weight (over a year+) and am feeling hopeful now that finally something might help.

Shmallow · 13/01/2025 10:36

Hope so @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden because I really need to stop eating like it's my last day on earth!

It'll be all good I'm sure. The next few days are pretty busy so I hope it'll come in then. Sounds like no-one's having any side effects which are too awful at the moment, which is great.

RedHillLady · 13/01/2025 10:42

I jabbed Saturday morning and felt a bit off most of the day........I ate a small dinner of creamy chicken with chickpeas and spinach served with brown rice. Much smaller serving than usual and I was satisfied.
I felt quite nauseous yesterday and only managed a small mug of lentil and veg soup for lunch and poached eggs on toast for dinner. Getting enough fluids in was a struggle. I didn't sleep too well last night, felt a bit bloated and burped a lot!!!
I have been very nauseous this morning but it is easing off a bit now. I've got a few high protein cereal bars and yogurts being delivered with my shopping and I'm planning to try them alongside some soup. I want to try and eat more food today.
I don't feel hungry at all, it's very odd. I had hyperemesis with two pregnancies and despite all of the vomiting and nausea I was still hungry and wanting to eat.

ploot · 13/01/2025 10:51

@tinyemmy It's being delivered tomorrow but I'm going to wait for Friday!

That gives me Tuesday & Wednesday to go through the cupboards, and Thursday to be mindful of what I eat.

I'll have Saturday & Sunday just seeing how we go, and my lunches for work delivered too (this is where I fall down, I'm a serial snacker)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 10:54

@RedHillLady hello - that sounds similar to me with the symptoms (although I haven't had burps yet!). I can eat but not hungry as such.

I'm really tired this morning and need to crack on with some job applications but just want a nice sleep! I've just made another water. Everyone says to drink so I'm trying to keep that up but maybe that's why I'm weeing in the night - you can't win!

themumformerlyknownas · 13/01/2025 11:34

Thank you @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, yes good idea. I plan to have a catchup over my contraceptive pill and Sertraline prescriptions so will ask then.

Otherwise I'm pretty sold tbh, and counting down the day to pay say so I can order the test 😃

FollyDear · 13/01/2025 11:58

Just sent off my blood test wahooo!

Shmallow · 13/01/2025 11:59

Well email support finally got back to me re my wrong starting weight because of the scales error, and said I should join a new proctor call and skip the blood test bit to verify weight. Except I can't because the app doesn't have that option while I wait for the blood results. I fear I may be stuck in some kind of limbo forever!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 12:19

@FollyDear Yay! Hope you hear soon!
@Shmallow argggggggg. They don't seem to be able to handle things that don't quite fit. Surely after being eMed they'd have some experience and this will have come up before.
I'm still cross noone sorts my issue out! But blood test at gp done this morning so at least I will know if there's anything tooworrying (I'm expecting raised levels of all the things as I'm very large!) but I wanted the ones on my record with Shemed having paid for it!

OP posts:
Shmallow · 13/01/2025 12:48

Yes it's bonkers they can't find them. So much of what they're doing is very slick but you're right, anything that doesn't quite fit seems to just fall through the gaps.

Mazd323 · 13/01/2025 13:20

Sorry to ask again but just had confirmation blood test being delivered tomorrow and I know I'm not going to be in. Does it go through a standard letterbox or do I need to make alternative delivery arrangements?

Primotomb · 13/01/2025 13:29

Mine came through the letterbox fine. You use the same box to send it back, so it has to be letterbox size.

Shmallow · 13/01/2025 13:51

I didn't use a box to send it back, just popped the tubes in the prepaid bag envelope. You don't need to sign for it so they can probably leave it somewhere though.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 14:41

Finally caught a call back from Shemed! So last week Man On Phone said something had happened and he couldn't access results and he'd look into it (but never got back to me). He assured me it means my results had been looked at...

Now today's lady said it looks like there was a probelm with the sample but they have prescribed based on questionnaire. Arggg. I asked if I could do it again and they'll send another test.... But just after I hung up I realised the app isn't going to have a button for doing it again is it?

Also I will have already taken a dose.

I'm v glad I've been to my GP for bloods today as I'm genuinely concerned I might have diabetes or similar as I'm higher risk. At least I'm on the right medication I guess but presumably it might be a different path or course of treatment if I do have high levels of whatever.

I hope I find out soon one way or another. And stupid shemed!

Having saod that I'm still pleased I'm getting cheaper drugs 😊.
And it's 2.40 and I've just realised I've not had lunch so I'll go make something!

It is magic.

That is rubbish about your results.

I've just had breakfast/lunch at 2pm and felt no more hungry than if I'd had breakfast!! It's definitely doing something in quite a subtle way

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 13/01/2025 16:16

I'm so tired. I wonder if I'm m eating enough now. Or it could be stress!

I've had another call from them and they had a problem with the blood so will, send me a new blood test but that won't be until February due to their backlog! They are refunding the money though so that's a good thing.

My anxiety has now spread to if there's something that means I shouldn't have the drugs or if I've got something like diabetes. I hope not. I should see by this Friday my results from the GP I think.
