Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

My postman knocked with the test so didn't test it on the letterbox.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds pretty easy. If you don’t mind me asking where did you decide to inject?

I went for my stomach, it's numb from a crash c section 11 years ago 😂 I think anywhere with a bit of extra fat would work nicely. I'm going to continue with belly and alternate sides. It's big enough that I will have plenty of options 😂

MojoJojo71 · 11/01/2025 19:46

My blood test kit finally arrived! I paid on 30 December and was beginning to think it would never get here. What exactly happens when you scan the QR code? Do you have to wait for someone to guide you through it? I was going to do it first thing Monday before work but want to make sure I allow enough time to do it

Shmallow · 11/01/2025 19:55

@MojoJojo71 iirc you scan it and it opens a questionnaire, then when you've done that it'll connect you to someone who talks you through the kit, tells you what to do, and plays an animation at the same time that shows it all. They have 24/7 'proctors' so you can do it whenever.

After you're connected you have to go through the kit that takes a couple of mins, then activate the warming pack and rub it on your arm for two minutes with a timer. Then you attach the blood collection thing and give it up to five mins to fill. Once that's done you just package it all up to send back, so in total it's probably up to a max of 20 mins?

MojoJojo71 · 11/01/2025 20:17

@Shmallow thank you so much, going to get it in the post on Monday and hopefully they’ll get the meds out asap. Once I decided I was going to do it I wanted it to happen asap before I change my mind 🤣

Shmallow · 11/01/2025 21:14

@MojoJojo71 I'm exactly the same!! It feels like an absolute eternity since I joined up 🤣

Tiredftmum · 12/01/2025 01:48

@Shmallow did you get your results yet? I’m getting so impatient 😂
Me and my sister posted our blood samples at the same time (in the same post box) and she has already had hers processed and received her medication whereas I have heard nothing! Getting nervous!

TheGladLilacDuck · 12/01/2025 08:29

I did my blood collection this morning, there was no wait and I got straight through. Anyone worried about the collection don't be! It's easy and pain free. I get woozy during blood tests usually but this was fine. Hopefully if all goes well I'll be able to start the pen on Friday!

Shmallow · 12/01/2025 09:06

@Tiredftmum no nothing here, I'm so impatient too!

Still no results here, keep refreshing the app 🙈

When did you send yours? Mine was posted back on Tuesday

TLMoo · 12/01/2025 09:21

Still nothing here! A week tomorrow since mine were sent back! I have everything crossed that we all hear back bright and early tomorrow!!

Shmallow · 12/01/2025 09:35

Hope you're right @TLMoo, I didn't send back until Thurs and I'd hate to wait a while week!

CleverKhakiBear · 12/01/2025 09:47

@Tiredftmum I sent mine off on Thursday too, very impatient to say the least haha

Tiredftmum · 12/01/2025 12:57

My results just came in so fingers crossed those still waiting will have theirs soon!
Lots of mine are in the red which is a bit alarming and the thyroid results are missing… but hopefully I will hear soon if I am approved or not.

xxCatCrazyxx · 12/01/2025 13:11

My results are in and not great, especially cholesterol 😔 . Under review but expect GP will be in touch. Will just have to wait and see now.

I just had mine too and also under review. I expect that not many people have great results (cos otherwise we wouldn't be signing up!) and that the review is just to ensure we're all ok to start.

Trying to be optimistic as I go into week 3 of waiting 😂

xxCatCrazyxx · 12/01/2025 13:24

@ploot Yes that’s very true. If accepted this is a great chance to turn some of these results around. If not then I’ll need to find another way and use this as the kick up the backside I need!

Shmallow · 12/01/2025 13:46

I'm sure the red results don't preclude you from having it. After all, most pharmacies aren't testing that kind of thing. It's to have a baseline to see what the meds affect for the observational study, I think, and hopefully the next blood test would have better levels!

CleverKhakiBear · 12/01/2025 13:57

I agree with @Shmallow fingers crossed we all get our results next week and can start the program 🤞🏽🥰

KeenGreen · 12/01/2025 14:10

My blood test results came in today.

I tested Thursday and they arrived at lab on Friday.

My results are all in green apart from the AST which is 36 so ever so slightly in the amber section :-/

I am worried now as I googled and this is liver enzymes and I know someone here got rejected for this reason. I’d be really heartbroken if I couldn’t go ahead.

it’s under clinical review so maybe I’ll hear tomorrow 🤞

DIYMum · 12/01/2025 14:46

@KeenGreen
My AST was also slightly raised but I was accepted. 👍

That’s great thank you ☺️
hopefully then 🤞

themumformerlyknownas · 12/01/2025 15:29

Highjacking your thread as I'm very keen to sign up to SheMed after a colleague recommended it.

I'm slightly nervous though as after GSD with both DC I'm now at a higher risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later in life - but colleage was quite confident in telling me that taking MJ would help this?

It'd be great to hear if anyone else has started it with a similar medical history and has been fine to start the injections.

ArmyMedic2024 · 12/01/2025 15:35

Thought l would say hi. I too have just started my journey with SheMed. Yes they do accept blokes! At £99 per month it was a no brainer, and cheaper than going to Turkey for surgery.

I have my own reasons for wanting to lose weight, both in respect of health and confidence. Bit of a bumpy start with the process, but l have found them to be really helpful and responsive when l've raised concerns, first testing kit was stolen from outside my front door!!

My injection pen arrived yesterday and the whole process took less then 2 mins. Quick confirmation, and weighing then just followed the leaflet to inject myself. No changes or side effects yet

Hopefully you will allow me to share in your journey. 😁
