Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

I hope to jab on a Friday too xx

Hopefully we will be doing it together 🤞

Shmallow · 10/01/2025 19:05

I'll probably jab as soon as it arrives 😆 If there are four doses in a pen I need to make sure my next one arrives before I go abroad so asap is good to start!

MummySharkDooDoo · 10/01/2025 21:17

Funny story...I had my online blood collection/ID check/weigh in at lunchtime.

So I weighed in at 208 pounds (my scales are digital and displays lbs) and I told the lady this and she showed me 208 stone on the screen!! I clarified that it was 208pounds and hoped she would update it.

So I checked my app just now and guess what - my weight is 1329kg 🤣🤣

I have logged a mistake so hopefully this will be corrected...

TLMoo · 10/01/2025 21:19

@MummySharkDooDoo oh my goodness that's hilarious! If it's not changed just think of that 2nd weigh in!! What an extraordinary loss you will have haha!

MummySharkDooDoo · 10/01/2025 21:21

Well I have updated my weight and I have lost 1236kg - go me!!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 10/01/2025 21:37

Wow biggest looser!

OP posts:
Shmallow · 10/01/2025 22:15

@MummySharkDooDoo hahaha what a loss! How did you change it? I need to go the other way as my scales on blood test day had me lighter than I actually am!!! Not to the tune of quite that much though 😆

bumblebee1987 · 10/01/2025 22:17

My screening kit arrived today, whoop!

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to do? I got an email saying I should do it on Sunday, but the box says Monday-Friday?! I'm guessing Sunday is a mistake as I wouldn't be able to send it same day. The email also said I don't need to fast for 6 hours, but the box says I do? Confusing. I was really hoping I could do it tomorrow but it doesn't look like I can which is frustrating as doing it and sending it during the week is going to be problematic with work!

MummySharkDooDoo · 10/01/2025 22:31

@Shmallow I'm sure scales have a mind of their own sometimes 🤣

On the app at the bottom I clicked on 'Progress' to open a new page and there I could submit a new weight.

MummySharkDooDoo · 10/01/2025 22:34

@bumblebee1987 I was able to do mine today but my original email said Saturday so you must be able to do it then too.
I also didn't need to fast. I think the emails have updated information.
It took me about 20 mins start to finish.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/01/2025 09:27

Morning all!

I woke up early with a bit if a headache and nausea but tbh I'm often have the odd symptom of too so after a mild panic of, "omg what if I'm affected by severe nausea and can't function " I went back to sleep and am fine now 😁.

Not feeling any different and not lost 10stone overnight just relieved I've not had a sudden reaction. Eating wise my plan for the first time for the first few months is based around eating 3x a day regularly and aiming at reducing UPF so as real as possible. I don't want to start skipping meals but fine to eat more or less depending how I feel. I'm happy to eat snacks if I'm hungry but again trying to make those not junk food!

I have a long way to go though so planning to pace myself and aim is to have habits I cna do long term rather than restricting. Im hoping the MJ will naturally curb appetite as it gets in my system 🤞.

Glad you're feeling good @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden , and sounds like you have a solid plan.

Blood test still showing as sitting at the sorting office so not sure if it's lost or if it's just not been updated.. 😬

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/01/2025 09:41

That's bizarre isn't it. It's hard to know if it's the tracking that's gone wrong or it's lost. I'd say have you tried contacting shemed.... But I know hat that's like!!

Have you done their online contact form?

OP posts:
TLMoo · 11/01/2025 09:43

@Shmallow try messaging on instagram, I did that yesterday and i got a reply very fast! They have told me my blood test (sent on Monday first thing!) is there being processed just wait a few more days! Which is frustrating when I know people have had results much quicker!

xxCatCrazyxx · 11/01/2025 09:53

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I’m glad all good so far. Really interested to see when the hunger subsides. I think the plan to still have 3 meals if possible is good. I’ve been in such a rut this year with food, not looking after myself and sometimes not eating meals just grabbing rubbish on the go.
No update on my test at the moment and stupidly in my haste to just get it posted off before I picked my daughter off I didn’t make a note of the tracking. It wouldn’t of gone off 🤦‍♀️. I’ve no faith in the post but just got to trust all will go through as expected. I’m nervous of the result because of the lack of self care over the last year in particular.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/01/2025 10:02

@xxCatCrazyxx Hope you hear soon. And yes I similarly want to make this a year about looking after myself properly too. I think so often in the past for me I've tried to skip meals or get obsessive about diets I want to do this differently.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden glad there are no awful side effects at present.

Like you I was dreading nausea, but have had none. The only thing I noticed was waking up with an exceptionally dry mouth.

Other than that I'm currently having breakfast! I'm aiming to increase protein as I'm concerned about losing muscle mass. I did fast 800 3 years ago and lost 3 stone in 3 months, it definitely affected muscle I think.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/01/2025 10:25

That's reassuring you're okay too :)

I've heard about muscle loss too and need to learn more about protein. I know I need to do strength exercise for that reason but I've mentally blocked rhat thought for a couple of months time as I find movement so hard. It will have to be exercise for seniors type things. Right now I'm trying to just get moving/walking a bit more. I can't stand for long periods or walk for long which is scary really but Im hopeful it can get better this time!

Whilst also being so nervous 😬

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden get some resistance bands! I love mine I use them while I watch TV in the evening! I like them because you can take it easy but still feel it and the thought of being in the weights section of a gym at my size isn't something my anxiety will let me do!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 11/01/2025 10:30

That's an idea! How did you find out how to use them or is it a straight forward Google?

OP posts:
TLMoo · 11/01/2025 10:53

I got some on Amazon and the set came with a big poster that has all the exercises on them but yeah a quick google will do it! There's also a lot of YouTube workouts based solely on resistance bands which I used a couple of times to get my head around them!

KeenGreen · 11/01/2025 11:22

For those worried about exercise!

I totally get it and understand this was me originally.
at one point in my life I was 7 stone heavier than I am now even 🫤

the thought of any exercise filled me with dread and I thought I’d never be a person that enjoyed it. I lost weight and started exercising and found it enjoyable.

But after I had my son I struggled to get back into it, I joined a women’s strength class locally and it was the best thing I ever did women of all ages shapes and sizes doing strength training in a local community centre all lifting each other and supporting each other.
so would advise to look for something similar to build up confidence.

in June I joined David Lloyd and love it! I particularly love group exercise classes and aqua and I honestly thought I’d never enjoy exercise of any sort. You will get there in time 😊
I lost almost a stone since June with exercise alone but eating was still not good.

I am hoping to up the anti with exercise and do it well this time.
I love doing my classes and being at DL works really well around my son etc but the gym floor weight section is still daunting!

Shmallow · 11/01/2025 11:27

Insta is a good idea. I used the email form the see about changing my starting weight but haven't heard back, and livechat now seems to be bots only!

I go to the gym at the moment, do pretty much only weights, which I quite enjoy as you see results quite quickly as move up through the weights. However I'm quite a sporadic attendee, and would like to include more walking in my daily routine so might try and go for an early morning walk. It'll also help to wake me up and make me concentrate on all the stuff I should be doing!

TLMoo · 11/01/2025 11:27

@KeenGreen that's brilliant I'm glad you are enjoying it Daffodil

I used to be part of my towns running group and was in great shape, but after I had my daughter I was unhappy with how I looked and instead of taking positive steps I've ended up further and further down the wrong path and I'm positively miserable now! I rejoined the running club in September but only managed a few weeks as i could tell I was going to do myself some damage! My poor ankles and knees couldn't carry me! I am pinning FAR to much on getting positive results from SheMed just to help me get back to a weight I can comfortably move to be active again.

Monmonss · 11/01/2025 11:50

Hi, I got my injection pen today and injected myself after the check-in. I've done everything they said and pushed the injection until it went from 1 to 0. Now I'm panicking as I can't see any liquid left inside. Do we use the same pen for 4 weeks? I can't get anyone to speak to and ask the question. 🙄
