Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

@ploot @Shmallow @CleverKhakiBear Hope the blood tests have arrived! I'm in awe of your fasting abilities!

@Tiredftmum That's bizarre hope you see a postie today!

@Arishabell I think they can work with you to titrate down to a maintenance /or off.

I think to sign up for a year most people probably have a fair bit to lose or intent to stay on them for a bit maybe?

No, it hasn't!

I suppose this is where the unmedicated ADHD hyperfocus kicks in, I've fasted since 8pm last night, not had my meds and I'm not eating till I have that test 😂

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/01/2025 12:04

@ploot I'm in awe!! Have you got a delivery time/tracking or anything? On the 2nd when their app was down I ended up eating at 10am and testing at 4 but similarly couldn't focus on anything else all day!

It just says that Royal Mail usually deliver to my address between 10 & 2, I was hoping that it'd be here for midday!

Cholesterol, thyroid function, liver function and hba1c were mine 😊

Ahh ok. Thank you! Really interested to see what my levels are. Still waiting for my Royal Mail notification for the blood test. I am so impatient!

Mines been delivered but I'm at work! So will have to do the blood test Monday morning

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 12:27

I've done it!!!! 🥳
I'm so impressed with how slick the whole process was. An almost completely painless blood test and the info/app/video/person guidance was top notch. Only thing is I'm about 7kg lighter than I thought, which is truly bizarre because I feel fatter than ever, loads of my clothes feel tight, and haven't been watching what I eat for months. It won't affect things though because I'm still fat.

CleverKhakiBear · 09/01/2025 12:34

@Shmallow I've done it too! DH will be sending it to the post office for me so fingers toes and everything crossed!

I agree I was scared but the whole process was very easy and smooth!

Hope we get approved 🤞🏽

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 12:36

@CleverKhakiBear great news!

I think my weight might be wrong. I moved the scales for the call and it just doesn't seem right. I'm going to try and re-weight if I can get hold of them.

KeenGreen · 09/01/2025 12:48

My blood rest arrived about 11.30am I downed my water and then took the test.

So all done! Was really painless, and I got connected straight away.

I bleed successfully woohoo! Often an achievement for blood tests, its a really clever system.

I didn't have the heat pack included so had to rub my arm vigorously instead.

I did it in the kitchen and my weight showed as 14st 4lb, which is about 4lb higher than normal! Maybe all the water I drank plus I was dressed. lol Not going to stress about it, hopefully will be going down soon!

I noticed it ideally says to take to post office before noon, I was going to post it at school pick up time at 3pm, as post office next to DS school. But should I take it now instead?? 12.45pm? Will it make a difference?

TLMoo · 09/01/2025 12:49

@KeenGreen I dropped mine at the post office before 9am and it wasn't picked up until early evening so depends on how often the pickups are! The post office I went to is a little one in the corner shop and they only have one collection a day x

Thank you I think I am just going to wait until about 3pm Their last collection is 5pm ish so will definitely still go today.

I am excited but also nervous for approval.

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 12:55

@KeenGreen I've just handed it in at the post office as they have a late collection after 4pm. She scanned it and gave me a receipt. As long as there's a collection after whenever you're posting it should be ok

FollyDear · 09/01/2025 13:14

Royal Mail have just emailed to say mine is coming tomorrow, so I will have to wait until Monday to test! But at least it's on its way 🙏🏼

xxCatCrazyxx · 09/01/2025 13:17

My test has just this minute turned up. I’ve downed a pint of water. Will now wait 30 mins, then take to the post office quickly and eat, am absolutely starving 😂

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 13:29

is it too soon to start tracking the blood test on its way back to them half an hour after it's been posted? Asking for.. a friend..

It's never too soon 🤣 Because I have been doing just that 😅 DH dropped it to the post office at 1:15pm 🙈

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 13:51

So glad I'm not alone 🤣

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/01/2025 13:57

@Shmallow @CleverKhakiBear @KeenGreen @xxCatCrazyxx

  • I think I caught everyone who tested today wahooo!!!! And isn't it easy 😊.
Keen - glad you bled without the heat pack! Shmallow - we're you the same weight elsewhere or do you think it's the scales? Or maybe you've lost weight over xmas!!

@TheGladLilacDuck Rooting for you for Monday! @FollyDear and you too 🤞

And yes to the obsessive tracking.... I feel like we're a like minded group 😁😂.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I've since tested the scales all over the house and they were definitely wrong!! It's because they were on a rug rather than on the tiled floor of the bathroom 🤦‍♀️ I've emailed them; although I'd still be in the right bmi category or eligibility it's going to look a bit weird when I do the first weigh in and I've put masses of weight on haha

I've also ordered new scales as I just don't trust them now at all.

Yes definitely like minded with obsessive tracking 🤣

I was tracking the delivery of blood test this morning! but of course it just said delivery time frame.

I felt really queasy after I took the test I think because of fasting for so long.

Now for the wait for results… 😬

when you got approved it took the £99 straight away right? I’m going to make sure the money stays in the right account from now just in case.

Lotusbug · 09/01/2025 14:23

My £99 got taken before I received the acceptance notification 😂

Does anyone know if they tell your GP?

GP reluctant to help, and I'm not sure I want to advertise that I went about it without their help - obviously I would tell them if there was problems. I'm a bit embarrassed about the whole thing - shouldn't be, but had too many lectures along the lines of eat less, exercise more.
