Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

Wahooo!!! To all those of you whose blood tests have been sent out today. Let us know how you get on! Remember you can't do it Friday and have to have fasted/drink a pint of water 30mins before.

When you post it back you can use the tracking number to see where it's going. Shemed don't update the app when it literally is received by shemed but only after they have the resutls/upload them hence it saying "post your blood test" after you have!

Mine went Walkies though so they said they'd track it down.... I am really hoping they didn't just approve me based on answers as I'm worried about various things. Still have a blood test at the Dr's Monday. Just anxious as I want to be okay!

How long do we need to fast for?

I take medication in the morning that works so much better after eating 20g protein, I don't need to eat but I'd prefer to (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't be here 😂)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/01/2025 22:02

6hours.

I would wake up, drink a print of water. Do test then get on with food/the day. You can do any time of day!

This is my plan 🤞

I hope that they will have lots of capacity for the call tomorrow as it seems lots may be doing the blood test then!

Hey guys, Happy New Year, I hope everyone is doing well!

I’ve been reading your posts and following for the last few days now, super nervous but excited.
I took the plunge and signed up today, waiting for the test kit to arrive.
How long does it normally take for the kits to arrive?

I’m wondering if I am approved do I have to take the injection as soon as I receive it or can I wait until I am ready?
Baring in mind I only signed up today and waiting for my test kit, do you think I’ll get my first open by the end of the month?

Sorry for all the questions!!

Thank you all so much for sharing your journeys.x

DIYMum · 08/01/2025 23:43

@Arishabell
I signed up on 21 Dec and my first pen is due tomorrow. The blood kit arrived quickly but I then had to wait until after New Year to return it.
All in all quite quick considering the holidays.
Communication with Shemed has been a bit slow and frustrating as they seem overwhelmed but to be fair I’ve been really impatient for updates and they’ve got back to me in the end.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/01/2025 06:16

@KeenGreen I'm up early today - let us know how you got/get on :)
@Arishabell Welcome. Pretty much same as DIY mum! I think it can be pretty quick when they're not shut (they shut over xmas-2nd) Even so for me it was only a few days between sending blood test and getting pen. My pen arrived Sunday and I'm waiting til this Friday to jab as I want to do it on Fridays.

Absolutely think you'll get it all done by the end of the month! Et us know when it arrives :)

There's a few whose blood tests were posted this week - do shout when you've done it!

Hello! Can I join you all? I've been thinking of starting Mounjaro for a while and finally decided to go for it. I have asymptomatic gallstones, so I emailed Shemed to ask for advice, I got an reply saying that they have discussed it at their MDT and having gallstones isn't an automatic exclusion (like many other providers.) They told me to order the blood test and fill in the questionnaire and they will assess from there. Fingers crossed! Hopefully the fact that they are actually having MDT meetings is reassuring to some.

I ordered the blood test on the 4th and got an email saying it has been despatched yesterday. I've just had a text message saying it is coming tomorrow. I cannot wait. I have to lose at least half of my body weight and I'm hoping this will be the thing that finally helps me. My colleague has been taking some kind of wli and she's lost 9stones since May.

RumPirate · 09/01/2025 07:32

Morning everyone,

I sent my blood test back monday but haven't heard if they have received it yet. I'm reassured that seems normal though. I was hoping to have the first pen so that I could start Friday.

I am a bit worried I won't be approved but fingers crossed all is ok.

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 08:03

Blood test due 10:30-12:30 and starving already but determined to get it done today 😆

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/01/2025 08:53

Morning all :)

@Lanaa Welcome! Great to see their MDT team is on it and hope you get the blood test soon. I similarly have to lose half my weight which is partly what attracted me to a year's programme. 🤞 All clear for you.

@RumPirate I think they only tell you when the results are "done" rather than received but yes I can see you'd hope to hear by now. Hope you hear soon.

@Shmallow wow good luck! Great to get it out the way 😊.

Still no movement on the tracking for my blood, it has been sat at Warrington MC since 04:55 yesterday morning! Really hoping it hasn’t been lost!

Mines due between 10am & 2pm, and knowing my luck it'll be 2pm and I could've had breakfast!

CleverKhakiBear · 09/01/2025 10:13

Looks like we're all nil by mouth until our deliveries arrive. I've only had another email today saying that it's due to be delivered today but I've not had a timeframe.

I will try to remain nil by mouth for as long as possible, hopefully they deliver in the morning and not in the afternoon or evening because sometimes they come around 5pm in my area. I don't mind doing it on Monday and getting it out of the way too.

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 11:02

Every time the dog perks up looking out of the window I think it's here 🤣

As I was about to say that this is me everytime my ring camera detects movement, I got a knock at the door and it's here! So I'm going to test now 🥳

Arishabell · 09/01/2025 11:10

Fingers crossed for all whose tests kits are due to today!!

Does anyone know what happens if you meet your target weight before the end of the 12 months?x

abijanzo · 09/01/2025 11:11

Can anyone who has had their blood test results tell me what they tested for please?

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 11:16

@Arishabell you move onto a maintenance dose as far as I understand.

Shmallow · 09/01/2025 11:16

gogogo @CleverKhakiBear !

Cholesterol, thyroid function, liver function and hba1c were mine 😊

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/01/2025 11:59

@ploot @Shmallow @CleverKhakiBear Hope the blood tests have arrived! I'm in awe of your fasting abilities!

@Tiredftmum That's bizarre hope you see a postie today!

@Arishabell I think they can work with you to titrate down to a maintenance /or off.

I think to sign up for a year most people probably have a fair bit to lose or intent to stay on them for a bit maybe?

Mine still haven't turned up 🙄

I start the jab tomorrow finally though 🎉. It's been a long time coming!

Is anyone jabbing today?

Or tomorrow with me?
