Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

Same as me, I spoke to them on live chat at the end of last week and they said it had been shipped but then also had an email saying there was delays.

Haven't had anything else from them at all, no royal mail tracking or anything. Haven't been able to get through via live chat for 2 days either

Hoping this is just teething issues while they are dealing with a rush!

I am ringing them now, but been on hold for 30 minutes so far! I think I would just like some reassurance it is on the way, even if they say we are doing it in batches and will be a few more days etc, as it is confusing it says 'shipped' on the app but no other notifications.
I haven't heard anything from them, except for that generic there has been delays email which I also got.

I did see they have now extended the £99 offer until end of January!! So they will be taking many more on, I just hope they can keep up with demand.

For weekly check ins my wait time has been about 10 seconds and the actual call has been less than a minute each time so very efficient! I assume they’ve had an influx of sign-ups post Christmas which is slowing things down - sounds like I just missed it but who wants to do their first injection on Christmas Eve?! (Just me?…)

Hope you all hear back soon! Just taken my 3rd injection and had my dose increase approved for next month! I might take shares out on Imodium 🥴

Buy generic loperamide from Amazon. It's much cheaper.

@GigiTheGiantPanda great to hear the calls have been okay and the ordering next pen worked fine.

What are the questionnaires at that stage like?

I'm how bad are you finding the side effects. Is it like the first day or the whole time? I er need to work....

I take it they're not replacing the drugs from the goody bag then!

Did you manage to get through @KeenGreen ?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 16:06

And er silly question maybe but does it work immediately to prevent any other um loo visit needs.

Just hoping I can contain it at work if that makes sense. As I can I just take some to work with me and take if needed and all be okay...?

I received my blood test kit over Christmas. Couldn't test until today but was very impressed with how easy it was! I got through straight away at 9am this morning.....its on its way now and I hope all is well and I can start ASAP

OneAzureMaker · 07/01/2025 16:20

For those struggling to get through on phone/chat or email, in the end I sent a FB message last night
This was responded to first thing this morning and then within half an hour my results were back and everything was approved!

Might be worth a try....

That's good! Haven't been able to get thel8gh on live chat at all! Unfortunately I don't have Facebook so unable to message them!

GigiTheGiantPanda · 07/01/2025 17:20

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden At each check in, there is the opportunity to record side effects and this is done with an online link. They then send an email with some advice on how to prevent side effects.

The questionnaire at the reorder stage was fairly simple - asks about your experience so far, any side effects you've had and you rate how "manageable" they are. Also asks if you feel comfortable with a dose increase or if you're on any new prescriptions/have any new conditions.

Aw sorry, I didn't mean to worry you! I work full time and I've found the side effects manageable and everyone is different. I've timed the injection as I know my side effects peak at about 12 hours post injection so if I do an early morning injection, I'm usually poorly later that evening and fine by the next day. I'm still learning as well though, I've only done it twice and I'm sure my body will adjust to it in time!

I'm not a massive fan of taking medicines so I've actually not used any of the drugs they supplied so I'm not sure if they replace them. I had some Imodium at home and I think over the last two weeks I've maybe taken 3 or 4 and I've taken about 4 or 5 Buccastem which is anti-sickness that I bought at my local boots but I've only taken that when actively vomiting.

Thank you @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne those are very reasonable!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 17:21

So they've rung me back from my phone request and the line was really distant and fuzzy but he was ever so helpful.

It took him a moment to realise I had the drugs and it isn't user error but it's really not on the app!

He went to access it his end to email them to me and they aren't there either. Obviously I then panicked it's a mistake I've got the pen and there's a problem...

But he's said it's all fine as it's been approved and he's sending it to the clinical team and will email ro ring me when they're uploaded!

It does seem they are good when you do get through.

If you take two immediately, and take a third one if you go to the loo again, it works within 20 mins.

Thanks that's all really reassuring. I think I was imagining like with a sickness bug and wondering if I'd make it to work! I'm jabbing Friday so we'll see 🤞 I really appreciate you sharing thankyou.

Thankyou that's reassuring.

But worried about vomiting. I am a bit phobic around it (not full on like some people though) so may see if I can get hccastwm in advance.

So am I.
I keep cyclizine tablets in my house.
You can take them 3 x daily, but I've found that one works within 15 mins if needed.

I honestly have only felt slightly sick a handful of times in 6 months. I haven't actually vomited or come close to it.

Cyclizine is marvellous stuff! I got given it at hospital once and now keep a supply in the house.

No I gave up after 40 minutes as I had to pick up my son!

Hope we hear something soon

Rejoined mumsnet to join this thread :)

a quick message from me (rushing around atm)
Blood test Friday
results yesterday
Pen delivered today
just went for it !
whilst 3 of the 5 were having dinner I jumped on the app upstairs
a member of the team guided me through prepping the injection pen.
i ordered some pre injection wipes and glad I did, i was asked to wipe the pen at one point.

amazon pack of 100 for £3.99

sadly I had to throw away half the ‘goody bag’ as they were gelatine versions of loperamide etc but other than that very happy

sounds dramatic but felt different straight away.
ive got 4 stone to shed and i look forward to following this thread

❤️

Mumof5cubs · 07/01/2025 18:43

*Oh and the rep asked for a capture of my weight
I didn’t have my scales as was in my bedroom but she was happy to bypass as my blood test was Friday

kittykarate · 07/01/2025 18:56

@Mumof5cubs didn't your pack include wipes? Mine were hidden in the needle box, took some finding as they weren't obvious.

Indeed it did
just found them 😅 sorry
Had ordered a box as I read wiping the site before the jab site is good practice

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 20:54

Welcome @Mumof5cubs :)

Yay for getting started! Let us know how it goes. I feel like I've been waiting forever now. I posted quite a bit while I was deciding about MJ, then waiting over xmas and now to take the jab. It's only 3 days now...

I’ve just done my first injection (I told you all I had zero self-control 😂)

connected to SheMed in less than 30 seconds- very seamless and injection was totally fine

thanks for the heads up about alcohol wipes kitty- I thought I was going to have to search my first aid kit for one!
