Hello! Is anyone starting or recently started with Shemed? I think there's a few of us on the boards. I started posting on a different thread when I was looking into MJ but thought it would be nice for us to have somewhere to share our experiences of the journey!

I'm Fatsia. My bmi is huge (22 stone with 11 stone to lose ideally. I'd be happy with less!). I put on a lot of weight after having kids and have tried all the usual things to lose it each time gaining more. We don't have a high income so it's taken some thinking before getting to this place and I'm really hopeful reading others stories of where this can lead. I. Really do want to experience the world in a slimmer body again.

I did the blood test today - stressed out this morning at the app was overloaded with so many starting on 2nd of Jan but the actual experience was great. I'm a bit needle phobic so it was great to have the little device to do the test.

Love to hear from any others interested in sharing experiences.

(Anyone wanting to debate SheMed as a company there are other threads where that is happening)

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden that's really good that they do that! 2hour wait that's such a pain!

I've just looked up the tape measure you mentioned looks really good, and as you say it will deffo help motivate as you'll be able to see the inches coming off.

I will deffo look into investing in one too, did you get the smart scales too? I have normal digital bathroom scales so I hope that'll be okay x

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 07/01/2025 10:31

I've definitely found that as soon as any diarrhoea strikes, it's best to take two loperamide immediately, and one more again for every loose motion. That's what the instructions on the box say.

I've noticed on other threads that most people just take one loperamide only. That is not what's on the box. And one is a sub-optimal dose.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 10:38

Clever - I've got smart scales but they must be the very basic ones they just do weight not all the other things!

@Lotusbug it's good they contacted the Dr. Something must be happening behind the scenes it's just their communication that's crap! I hope whatever it is can be easily sorted. I'm still nervous they've not given me mine.

Lord a two hour wait is terrible. They really should have anticipated this, given they had an initial cut-off for the end of December. I wonder if it'll take that long to get slots for tests and for weekly check-ins? As actually, if we all have to do weekly check-ins, it's never going to calm down!

Yes it seems they’re doing what they need to do just not telling people. I really hope the communication improves once they’ve sorted the influx otherwise this 12 months could be a slog. I’m slightly concerned about how difficult it’s going to be to contact them with side effects at this point to be honest.

Yeah I just need to repeat one of the tests in a fortnight to check it’s going down, it wasn’t too high and I suspect it’s probably just down to overindulgence over Christmas 😅

I was wondering this too! Back when I signed up in December I read it was capped at 1000 for the study but I don’t know if that’s still the case anymore

Shmallow · 07/01/2025 11:03

@Lotusbug I'm not sure either. I really don't want to have to cancel but at least we have that right within 28 days of ordering. I can't be doing with hours and hours of waiting every week, and I work for myself from home! It'll be a nightmare for people with a different type of job.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 11:09

Gosh yes I really hope the weekly ones aren't this bad ! They should be 60seconds so much easier but still.

Also concerned about side effect reporting if there's just no way to get hold of them.

I really hope this is just initial teething problems. If it isnt and we all complain they'll have to employ an extra CS member wont they?

Woohoo!

I've now got a lab report, I've been accepted, payment taken and mounjaro is on its way!

CleverKhakiBear · 07/01/2025 13:14

@OneAzureMaker yay congrats! I can't wait to get my blood test kit in xx

FollyDear · 07/01/2025 13:25

Hello everyone! I’ve been lurking this thread for a little while and thought I’d sign up and officially say hi. I think I’m in the same boat as a couple of you, I signed up with SheMed and am now refreshing my inbox waiting for Royal Mail to let me know my blood test is in the post! No sign yet, although the app says shipped! Looking forward to starting my journey with you (hopefully!)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 13:26

Wahoo @OneAzureMaker do you know what day you'll start?

Welcome @FollyDear . It's a lovely bunch.

OneAzureMaker · 07/01/2025 13:43

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I think it will be Friday or Saturday, it's hard to know what to do for the best really, I have one day off a week (Monday) and Sunday is usually my busiest day, but I just want to get started really!

TLMoo · 07/01/2025 13:45

@OneAzureMaker wooooo that's super news! How exciting! Star

Lotusbug · 07/01/2025 13:47

Yay, Amazing! @OneAzureMaker

welcome @FollyDear 🥳

still no delivery for me, I’m waiting at the window for the postie 😂

CleverKhakiBear · 07/01/2025 13:50

@FollyDear welcome to the gang!

@Lotusbug did you receive a tracking email or confirmation from Royal Mail? Or is it just the SheMed confirmation you got?x

kittykarate · 07/01/2025 13:54

Done my first check in (and my first jab!). Wait time for an operator was under 2 minutes. Again very efficient, time on call was maybe 3 minutes. Going to describe the process so you know what to expect.

  • You scan barcode on your mounjaro medication box.
  • You show your scales, and the weigh in value.
  • Then they ask if you need assistance doing the jab, they have a similar animated walk through to the blood test to describe how to do it.
  • You check the medication looks in good condition (clear, not cloudy etc)
  • You clean the red port on the mounjaro pen with the alchohol swab provided, and then attach the needle.
  • You prime the pen to get rid of any air bubbles. Turn the dosage knob 2 clicks. hold the pen needle up, tap the pen a few times, depress the plunger. A tiny drop of stuff will come out of the needle
  • Then you turn the plunger again, so it moves to the letter 1. This took a lot of turns, and now it makes sense how people do partial doses.
  • Select your spot. (lower abdomen, thigh, back of the arm).
  • Insert needle (painless! but I did have a bit of a wobble before I did it)
  • Depress plunger fully
  • Wait for the count of 5, remove the pen, put your needle in the sharps bin.
  • And that's it!

I've decided Tuesday is as good a day as any, my downfall is a combination of snacking (I work from home), portion size, emotional eating.

Ah amazing! Thanks for all the info- Sounds like a smooth process which is reassuring!

well done on your first jab 🥳

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/01/2025 14:09

Thanks @kittykarate for that detail. It helps me so much to know what to expect.

And great it connected quickly. That was my other fear! I think it's just the replying from customer services that must be slow.

Well done! Let us know how you get on 😊

Still no updates from me! Still waiting for blood test - app says 'shipped' but wasn't a notification and had no royal mail email. So not sure actually sent.

I messaged them yesterday and tried the online chat today which had online a bot, no live agents available.

Bit worried now, hope they send it soon!

Same as me, I spoke to them on live chat at the end of last week and they said it had been shipped but then also had an email saying there was delays.

Haven't had anything else from them at all, no royal mail tracking or anything. Haven't been able to get through via live chat for 2 days either

GigiTheGiantPanda · 07/01/2025 14:38

For weekly check ins my wait time has been about 10 seconds and the actual call has been less than a minute each time so very efficient! I assume they’ve had an influx of sign-ups post Christmas which is slowing things down - sounds like I just missed it but who wants to do their first injection on Christmas Eve?! (Just me?…)

Hope you all hear back soon! Just taken my 3rd injection and had my dose increase approved for next month! I might take shares out on Imodium 🥴

Shmallow · 07/01/2025 14:42

I did get notification the blood test had been posted but I was told it'd be here today and I've not had anything 😥

Glad to hear the weekly calls have been good, hopefully that'll continue even with hundreds/thousands more customers to deal with.
