@letshavetea I really understand - I agree it IS a really expensive way to lose weight for us slow losers! I'm taking from it that I'm now a stone lighter than I would have been without MJ and of course for me the biggest thing is less "food noise" thereby allowing me to avoid snacking/binging which in turn has kept me on the wagon, so they're the postives I'm taking from this. I do get disheartened too though. I'm going to be here forever I think - I worked out yesterday that I still need to lose another 1 stone 4 llbs to get myself out of the osese category and in to overweight. If past performance is anything to go by that is likely to take about another 6 months! Oh well I'll try to enjoy the journey and not worry about the destination. I jabbed 3.5mgs last night. So far, so good. Feeling O.K. this morning but will see what happens over the next 24 hours side effect wise.

Good to hear all the updates. @recklessgran - congratulations that’s fab news! @Losingthetimber - wow - you can really see the difference. I think I should take some pics too.
I took dose 19 (5mg) yesterday. Disappointed with weigh in today as I’ve gone up a pound to 11 stone 13.5 pounds. So disheartening and not quite sure what to do. I’ve stayed on 5mg as even with this dose I have nausea, heartburn and constipation on occasions. I still have suppression but can now finish a meal. Total loss since October is now only 10 pounds.
This is a very expensive way of losing not a lot!

Sounds like you’re on a good dose. If you are getting constipation it could be that you just needed a good poo! Keep going with the dose, up water and exercise - try weighing everyday then you will see the fluctuations maybe. I’ve had a had few weeks, including this one when I’ve put on 1/2 lb, but then a day later and it’s gone again. 10
lbs lost is slow but it’s still a great weight loss - I guess the question is, what do you think you would have achieved without MJ?

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 07:21

@lapuf - I’ve been planning to listen to that book (on my Spotify podcast). @recklessgran - thanks so much for your support. I will just keep going and fingers crossed things will get moving again soon! I agree that we will be on here for quite some time to come! This thread and having all the support on here is so helpful.

Losingthetimber · 03/02/2025 07:57

@letshavetea , yes pics are a good idea, also measuring yourself, be it via clothes you want to get into or a tape. And constipation can make a difference too.

the other way to look at it, is if you hadn’t taken the drug, would you have lost those ten pounds since oct, or would you have stayed the same, maybe even gained, especially due to Xmas? What would you weigh now if you hadn’t, I know I’d have kept gaining.

how bad is the nausea, constipation and heartburn. As I’d consider moving up, some people need the higher doses, nausea you can get ginger tablets on Amazon, or ginger sweets, constipation, try psyllium (make sure to take with a lot of water or can make you constipated) or senokot, and also I think there is tablets for heartburn, I’ve never had it myself.

5 wasn’t great for me, but 7,5 was fine.

also check what you’re eating, make sure it is clean, veg, proteins etc, no added fats, limit spices, and see if that makes a difference if you’re not doing so already, and eat regularly, but within your cal deficit.

EVK · 03/02/2025 08:20

All good advice from @Losingthetimber I don’t have experience of upping the dose as I tried 5mgs one week and didn’t feel great so came back down to 4mgs. This week I’ve gone for 4.5mgs! Feeling ok but constipation is here! I then look like I’ve gained or not lost until I manage to go then things improve! Only by small amounts - I only lose an average of 1lb a week and sometime none. But I know that if I wasn’t on MJ I could well be another half stone or more heavier post Christmas which was the realisation that started me on this journey back in October. Even if your progress is slow imagine where you would be if you’d never started. I know what my answer to that is and I’m so glad I’m here and not there!! You are doing it 🙌🏻

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 08:31

@Losingthetimber you’re right - I’d have continued to gain if not on MJ.
The side effects are manageable. I suppose it’s that I fear them to be unmanageable if I went up a dose too soon! I’ll order some ginger tabs and some psyllium husks. I already have gaviscon for heartburn.

I’ve got into a routine of using the first higher dose pen to gradually titrate up and the next same dose one to take at full strength before going up.So, I’ll probably titrate up to 7.5mg over the next pen which I’ll be starting in two weeks when I’ve finished my current 5mg pen. I have the next pen in stock (7.5mg). This chat has made me think that’s what I need to do.

I do eat healthily (folow Zoe principles of many plants, protein etc) but have been out to eat at friends and family this week and I think that’s made the difference.

I’ll get my tape measure out (did my measurements on starting) and I’ll take those pics. Thank you.

Another 3 pounds loss this week and suppression has been good. No side effects, especially after my couple of weeks break!

Great work everyone!

Losingthetimber · 03/02/2025 09:02

@letshavetea good luck you’ve got this! And evk is right on the constipation, I’m the same, if I don’t go the scales don’t move 😳

and I’d definitely chance moving up if it is all manageable. In my albeit experience of just me, it does help.

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 03/02/2025 09:05

Woohoo! My bmi is 29.7 this morning and I am officially overweight for the first time since around the end of 2019!! It has taken 17 weeks. I'm 2st 9lbs down!! Happy dance!

I'm on 5mg still which seems to be suiting me for a slow but steady loss. I'm thinking of moving to Oushk imminently, to be with them long before I may, or may not, need maintenance. What are all your thoughts on this?

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 09:14

@EVK thanks for your good wishes:). You’re absolutely right - I wouldn’t have lost but would have put on without MJ. You’re also right about the constipation. It really does affect the scales (as well as how I feel!). I’ll just keep going and hope for another loss soon.

I’m going to be very cautious about any moving up doses as I really don’t want to feel any worse than I have already! Glad you’ve managed to get to 4.5mg now. It’s hard because one has to decide in advance of needing a new pen what dose to order isn’t it? Another option is that I order another 5mg pen and keep the 7.5mg one in stock for now.
I’m really quite unsure really! Funny for me as I’m usually quite decisive!

RunSlowTalkFast · 03/02/2025 10:06

@letshavetea I've also lost 10lbs since October!

I can't console myself with the fact that I would have gained without Mounjaro as I lost 2 stone before starting and then maintained for months. I started Mounjaro as I still had an obese BMI and couldn't seem to get past it. To much of a pig to stick to any lower calories 😳

2 of my 10lbs was last week though so I'm hoping 10mg might finally be the sweet spot! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 10:16

Aha @RunSlowTalkFast - pleased you’ve lost two pounds recently! That gives me hope.
How are you finding the 10mg? I love my food and want to still be able to enjoy it. It’s definitely easier to just keep going on MJ. Trouble is I’m very sociable and there are always events in the diary each week!

RunSlowTalkFast · 03/02/2025 10:21

10mg has been fine, only took my first one last Thursday but the bonus dose of my 7.5mg pen the week before was almost 9mg!

Had the eggy burps Friday (only had that once before) and mild constipation but I have a big bowl of bran flakes a couple of times a week, seems to sort it out! 😄

Not very hungry but still very loud food noise which was always my main issue. Snacking in the evening has been my main problem!

Fizzleawayyy1 · 03/02/2025 10:55

I lost -3 this week. Pleased with that.

Slightly annoyed at myself though as we went over my husbands aunties this weekend and she put on a huge amount of nibbles for us.
I don't know how this started as she never used to do food when we went over but since last summer she's now doing food every time we go over and I feel like I have to join in as it would look really rude if I didn't eat any of it.
We all sit at the table together so it would look odd if I didn't have any food or only took 1 thing!

Anyway, I ate more in one meal then I have in a while and things like bread etc which I don't eat very often to appear polite and then she brought out cream cakes so I had one of those too!

Plus when we got home we did a movie night with the kids so we then got the popcorn out and my daughter asked if I could have some to join in!

I will need to be extra good this week now to counteract it and still lose. I will be happy with even a lb off this week (weigh day sat).

Fizzleawayyy1 · 03/02/2025 11:01

@Carridoesntlivehereanymore - Well done with your BMI getting under 30!

@RunSlowTalkFast Have you found the suppression on 10mg better?

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Well done on 3lbs off this week!! woop.

@recklessgran I hope your dose of 3.5mg isn't causing you to be ill still 👌

Fizzleawayyy1 · 03/02/2025 11:06

@letshavetea I have the problem with events constantly being booked in too, I'm sociable to I enjoy going out but its a real pain in the butt when trying to lose weight consistently.

Add on the fact I normally have to do work events once a month for a few days at a time and I'm not in control of the food that's provided most of the time, its hard work.

My husband was trying to get me to agree to a date in March to go out and drink with some friends and iv already said to put that off to the end of April after our holiday.

letshavetea · 03/02/2025 11:12

@Fizzleawayyy1 sounds like we have similar difficulties with constant events. My next one is meeting a friend on Wednesday for a day out in London.
I’ve also got a holiday coming up in five weeks and would really like to stay in control by losing some more before that.

I get this, I have 5, yes 5, work dinners I need to attend in the next month, three not in this country, so I’ve already looked at the ones in the uk restaurant menus to see what I can eat. The overseas ones I’ve not done yet. In between that, I also have guests for a weekend, and going out to dinner as well once, so at least 6 meals out, which always includes alcohol, in a short space of time.

so it’s going to take some careful management to get through it and keep losing and without everyone thinking I’ve developed some sort of eating disorder , as I know some colleagues will watch what I eat like a hawk due to the weight loss.

Bluenose1966 · 03/02/2025 11:22

Think this is my 3rd week on 5mg after titrating up gradually and must be getting used to it as least nausea have had since started, though still have diarrhoea now and again.

@Carridoesntlivehereanymore I moved to Oushk for maintenance and have my consultation next week. I only have a few pounds to my goal weight now. I am hoping to titrate down while gradually increasing my calories and at the very least will go on flex plan as know I am in danger of putting weight back on.

@lapuf Just started reading Why We Eat Too Much. I like trying to understand the science to hopefully stop me reverting back to bad habits.

With MJ I can’t help but chase the numbers on the scales, despite the sensible part of me knowing research shows there is significant muscle loss, up to 50% with rapid weight loss. All that will happen long term if we lose muscle is it will slow our metabolisms down and make us weaker. Therefore I am really concentrating on eating 120g protein daily and weight training twice a week.
In one of the podcasts I listen to the Dr said weight loss on MJ could lead to a massive increase in Sarcopenia, as I am in my late 50s that is something I really am trying to avoid.

I have a holiday in 8 weeks so really want another stone off before that if possible.

Iv managed to make my next friend meet up on the 16th and then the week after I'm away 3 nights with work so i will have little choice in the meals I can pick as its a prearranged event and the lunch is already planned.

@Losingthetimber I always pre look at the menus if I can or I just order a steak with veg and leave the chips if all else fails. I'm lucky, no one looks at what I eat, not one person has even mentioned me losing weight or saying I look like I have 😂
Id love to work for a company that does overseas travel, mines all in the UK or NI occasionally so nothing to exciting for me!

@Bluenose1966 Do you use the Bluetooth scales that show the muscle mass amounts? Mine shows it but I have no idea how accurate these scales are.

hopeishere · 03/02/2025 12:59

My BMI is now under 30! I'm just overweight not obese any more!!

Bluenose1966 · 03/02/2025 13:51

@Fizzleaawayy Hi, yes I do use Bluetooth scales for body fat/ muscles mass etc as a gauge but from what I have read they are not very reliable. They just mostly go on an algorithm based on your height and weight, though doesn’t stop me looking at it intently😂
The best indicator that we are not losing muscle is if we can still lift same weights in gym etc. I am lifting same weights despite being over 2.5 stone lighter so quite pleased with that.
When I am at my goal weight I intend to reverse diet very slowly to increase my calories and increase my metabolism/ muscle mass and hopefully energy. Think I will be a work in progress for rest of my life.

I did think I couldn't see how they were that accurate. My muscle mass is 'high' on there at over 8 stone and its only dropped 3lbs since starting MJ.
I haven't started going to the gym yet though 😅 I was debating adding in the gym at the end of this month, beginning of march but honestly I HATE the gym😂
I also think il have to be a work in progress forever and being a hard core gym goer isn't on my life aspirations 😪😂

Exciting on the hols, am v jealous! We need to get booked up somewhere as I feel like I need a break, even though it’s just a month since the Xmas/ny break 😂

and nthe over seas travel is honestly just like the uk travel, just a longer ballache of a journey. Just another hotel really. Genuinely it’s just a longer more difficult journey to get there. I could be anywhere all I really see is the inside of a hotel and a couple of restaurants.

and you’ve lost a lot so it will be visible, very visible. You clearly have polite colleagues and friends, mine are a mouthy bunch and they have known me forever. I know a couple of years ago I lost a stone and they all commented, so what they will do with 3 is anyone’s guess. Sigh.

It is mainly men I work with, and for some reason men have no filter. Or the men I work with have no filter. There is a couple of women, who do different type roles, they will be polite, but they are the ones who will watch my food intake, it’s not my first rodeo with them. The men are the mouthy ones who will comment, simply as they know me so well.
