I actually can’t believe that there is a way out of this for us now. Finally I believe that I will be a healthy weight and I will be free

I was literally thinking that this morning. Blame a quiet work day. I was thinking I can’t beleive they have developed and approved a safe effective drug to help us lose weight. That that’s actually happened.

And That I’m taking that drug and it works. That my body is no longer struggling with the very real and dangerous impact of carrying 4 stone more than it should.and neither is my mind.

And I can get to a healthy weight and stay that way. Forever. And not ever again have to spend my days struggling , worrying about what I eat, feeling deprived, exhausted, frustrated.

one little injection once a week. And I can just live my life, without this mental and physical burden.

AnneinEdinburgh · 30/01/2025 16:03

@lapuf I am totally with you. I started off this time at 19 stone, down to 16 stone 12 since October and also with PCOS. I am 60 and on HRT too. I have always blamed myself and seen others blaming me for my weight (and don;t get me started on hairiness too!). Logically I could tell myself that I wasn't eating more than most slimmer people or moving less but deep down I don't think I believed it. I was that fat greedy little girl with brown hair and glasses who was no good at sports and whose parents kept telling her to hold my stomach in and lose weight. She is still in there. I get so cross now at blame - if one small jab can fix things (even if we have to do this for ever) then it is a medical issue and not greed or laziness or whatever.

I now want to get back to the gym and try and get a bit fitter, not least as my skin is starting to feel a bit loose, but I am going to find something I enjoy not something stressful.

Hang on in there, you and we can all do this. I hope the NHS gets on and prescribes it for everyone needing it, and I suspect its the other benefits of everything from reducing risk of dementia to removing the urge to drink may help push it up the agenda.

xx

I'm another one who can't quite believe this is happening. I've gone from 15st 8 (starting mj, was 15st 10 the week before) to 13st 2. Lots still to go. But the main thing for me is that my very severe IBS which has been the bane of my life for 25 years, has almost disappeared. I'm having a bad day today, but they are very few and far between now. I used to live on immodium. It's unbelievable and genuinely life changing!

@Fizzleaawayy l welcome back! hope your son is doing well?

cheeky weigh in, as my official day is sat, and I can report, I see 11 something on the scales! Now , it’s 11.13.7, so I know I’m basically still 12 stone, but it’s 11 something! Can’t believe it, or remember the last time I saw an 11 something on the scales.

and it feels so much better than seeing 15 something,,,☺️

plus nsv, I got my engagement and eternity rings off last night, which is also a first in a long time, my wedding ring is still firmly wedged on, but having them slide on and off easily is definitely a goal as I really dislike the fact my fingers became so fat and swollen they were stuck on.

How weird, I just hit 11.13 today too! Hi 5 ✋🏻

@HansHolbein WOHOOO well done.

@Losingthetimber Thanks, he is doing really well now and back in school. Well done on getting into the 11s!

I ordered a new pen from Pharmacy 2 U on Monday and its on its way today. First time using them and service has been pretty quick so far!

I ordered from Pharmacy2U too. Ordered Saturday, sent photos Monday, arrived Wednesday, took first 10mg jab today 👍🏻

EVK · 30/01/2025 19:50

I’ve been so moved by the last couple of pages, the incredible losses and the change it’s making to your lives. It’s wonderful that MJ has supported so many of us to feel freed from our negative cycles and feelings. I think you’re all amazing 🩷

I ordered Monday, sent pics Tuesday and it arrived today, well packaged too.

It came with a sharps bin which surprised me as I ordered a 12.5mg. Iv only ever been sent a sharps bin with my first order of 2.5mg.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 30/01/2025 20:11

I took my second dose of 7.5mg yesterday and today whenever i eat anything my stomach just goes 'uh no' and I feel a bit sicky.

Yes mine came with a sharps bin too, they must give it to everyone who is ordering from them for the first time which seems a bit of a waste!

Mrsmajeeka · 30/01/2025 20:58

I love reading everyone’s progress, and how they’re feeling as it supports how I feel about all of this. I’m at a bit of a plateau this week but where this would normally throw the whole diet out the window I have just shrugged it off knowing that it’ll start coming off again soon. Had two NSVs today, moved my Apple Watch up two notches and unexpectedly had to speed walk to the train station for a mile as there were no Ubers in time and did it without breaking a sweat or feeling like I was going to pass out at the end, which 4 months ago would have probably finished me off!

Losingthetimber · 30/01/2025 21:00

@RunSlowTalkFast , congrats and hi!

UtterlyQuackers · 30/01/2025 21:40

Keep an eye on your email. MedExpress sent me a code for 20% for being unfaithful! It does have a time limit though.

Keep up the good work ladies. It's hard to believe that by May (hopefully) I will a "normal" weight!!

EVK · 31/01/2025 06:18

@lapuf Ive bought ‘Why we eat too much’ on audio too - thanks for the recommendation- I love an audio book - usually end up falling asleep to one! I need all the scientific information to support me once I come off MJ - best to get prepared in advance. Have to say, I keep pushing back that eventuality - as I do feel so in control with it - I’m worried about losing that. It’s so great to have that feeling of freedom from food gremlins!
Happy Friday everyone 🩷

KnewYearKnewMe · 31/01/2025 06:57

@Mrsmajeeka - great NSV - being able to pick up the pace
without breaking into a sweat is a real joy isn't it!

My NSV delight is now being able to cross my legs - it's a continuous pleasure I don't think I'll ever tire of 🙏🏻🥰🙏🏻

I'm having to relisten due to the falling asleep issue BlushGrin I missed the entire bit on how metabolism adapts to keep us the same weight the first time I think! And I got how calorie control doesn't work but missed the bit on leptin and insulin doing the hard yards for us automatically.
I know that keeping off the UPFs/wheat/sugar/veg oil is sustainable, I will just really miss sandwiches, haha! Maybe one a week when maintaining

Oh my me too, I can tuck my foot behind my leg.

i recall as a student, i was youthful slim and one of my friends was heavier, and she looked at me one day as we were chatting, and said i want to be able to do that, when I queried what she said cross my legs. I genuinely hadn’t realised she couldn’t, nor had I given any thought to being able to do that. It’s one of those things, if you’ve never not been able to do it, you don’t give thought to.

then I gained the weight all these years later, remembered it and realised exactly what she had meant. Sigh.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 31/01/2025 12:20

In the office today and everyone's got a KFC! 🍗

I said no and I have a tin of soup for lunch but still, I could do without sitting in a room that smells like fried chicken!

My food today so far:

Cereal bar 100 cals
Satsuma
3 x Chocolate snack a jacks at 58 cals each

KnewYearKnewMe · 31/01/2025 13:15

Agreed, @Losingthetimber - I once told a PT that crossing my legs was goal (during one of my many failed efforts to lose weight).

He thought I meant 'sit cross-legged' - it only dawned on me after he'd recommended stretching exercises to help 😂😂

rockingbird · 01/02/2025 06:46

Morning all, thought I'd share my NSV. We are having a cheeky weekend away, rather than bring my PJ's I brought along a nightdress to save on packing space. It's like a frigging tent 😆 I could fit a whole extra person in it! I haven't worn it since last summer I suppose.. made me chuckle when o put it on. Usual jab day today but will delay a day and wait until I'm back home tomorrow. Everyone scoffed five guys late last night after the show, I had the free monkey nuts! I seem to have changed my mindset about food choices, long may that continue.

Losingthetimber · 01/02/2025 07:48

Morning all, happy Saturday, weigh in day, 16 weeks done! Two pounds off this week, so now 11.13.5.

so just under 3 stone loss, at 41lbs down, and 8,5 lbs from a 25 bmi!

My daughter informed me that I’d nearly done it and declared i was only one good poop away 😂

So 1 stone and a half stone still to go to goal of 23 bmi Which suddenly seems a much smaller number than 4 and a half stone to goal, when I started in Oct.

and I did my 17th injection this morning, and used the bonus dose with an insulin needle, (bought from a proper medical supplier).

i did bonus dose on first pen by twisting, second pen I tried with the needle and just couldn’t bring myself to do it, i sort of panicked, and I then didn’t do it on 3rd pen as thought I’d start doing it when I was on my 4th pen, the ten mg and staying on it ie not moving up.

this morning, I didn’t even flinch, and got a full dose, I think sitting down is much easier for me, and I did thigh, so just grabbed an inch and went straight in,

it’s much gentler than the pen , as you need to push hard on that, which can leave a bruise. Which is great, as I can now make my pens last five weeks and not four.

Which makes a difference as I intend to stay on a maintenance dose when I hit goal, I wasn’t really bothered for those two pens as I was moving up, but am in it for the long run,

SPOILER - Mainly about importance of a high protein and high fibre diet. She thinks GLP1s can be great but you need to make behavioural changes or 50% of weight loss can be muscle loss and will have rapid weight gain when off meds.
She wants to do study on personalising approach to GLP-1s with more protein / behavioural strategy. Also research on rather than just the pharmaceutical companies automatically titrating up as per clinical trials by having a more personalised approach as everyone is different.

I’m currently having a 120g protein a day and it definitely fills me up so hoping that will help with keeping weight off. I was trying to eat 30g fibre but have been rubbish at that so definitely need to work on that.

Losingthetimber · 01/02/2025 11:34

She thinks GLP1s can be great but you need to make behavioural changes or 50% of weight loss can be muscle loss and will have rapid weight gain when off meds

Yes the video going round on here with the rather fit south African doctor, said the same thing, ensure you retain/minimise muscle loss as you lose, as it is what helps keeps the weight from returning at a later stage.

I also try to get my protein in, and exercise about 5 or 6 days a week , ensuring to do resistance and free weights, as well as cardio.

muscle loss is inevitable if you had high muscle mass to start with, even obese I exercised. I had over 7 stone of muscle and clearly can’t have 7stone of muscle at my goal of 10.7 stone. As I have a skeleton, water, and need fat. So I need to lose some.

But I work out to ensure my muscle is strong , not weak, and that it is in proportion for my body. The scales still say my muscle mass is in the excellent category and my frame classified as standard muscular, and muscle loss has been minimal. I also getting stronger. Even though I’m still overweight, I can see a ring of muscle round my stomach and definition in my arms and thighs appearing.

the video I watched the doctor said muscle keeps the weight off, and effectively turns you into a fat burning machine.

its so so important, especially as we age, as it is what gives us stability when we walk, and the ability to get up out a chair.

undertaking this journey and protecting ourselves as we do it, is really key. So when we get to goal we are fit and healthy, not just slim.

lapuf · 01/02/2025 11:57

I went out to the theatre last night and had three wines and small cocktail can and I was squiffy Blush my tolerance is way down! I ate a carby dinner, too. The room even span a bit when I went to bed Blush way more lightweight than usual. I am drinking less though on average

LumionaMoonsplash · 01/02/2025 12:43

Well done everyone 👏

This morning has been a very good one. Into the 11st camp for the first time since my teens 📉🎉. It's been a slow loss since my MJ start in Oct but I am feeling slimmer than ever. I feel hope that I may even fit into size 10 clothing this year. I was busting out of size 20, 1.5yrs ago. As much as I would have loved to have a quick weight loss, I think it's probably been a good thing for me that it's been a slow process, my skin isn't loose and I have put some good food habits into place.

WL SW: 15st 5 (Oct 2023)
MJ SW: 13st 5 (Oct 2024)
CW: 11st 13 😲🤯

Next Goal: 11st 7lbs. I'll be moving up to 10mg tomorrow and I have 12.5 and 15 in the fridge. Thanks to the bonus dose, I have ended up with quite a stock.
