Hardly had any movement in the scales for a few weeks but finally lost a couple of pounds this week. I'm a slow loser, I wonder if it's because I've never been slim (currently the lightest ive been in 25yrs) and my body is going through major shock at the exercise and small portions and is clinging onto every pound as much as it can.

SW: 15st5 (Oct 23, started WL pills)
MJ SW: 13st5 Oct 24
CW: 12st1
GW: ? No idea what weight will look good on me

My meals are very samey, lots of homemade veg soup, a slice of granary bread. Chicken, salmon or pork with veg for dinner. I'm trying to stick to whole foods as much as possible.

I'm also very thirsty, loads of water consumed. (TMI, my wee is almost colourless) and I'm going a lot, which I assume means that I'm hydrated.

My skin is being problematic, lots of cystic acne and red patches. Not sure if it's something I'm eating, perimeno hormones or the meds, either way I'm not loving it.

coastergirl · 23/01/2025 11:58

@Losingthetimber I've just been looking at amazon. Do you reckon any marine collagen with decent reviews? I've always been such low maintenance (aka I really don't look after myself much), so this is all new to me. I'm not sure I'm getting enough protein either so wondering about protein powder. Again, no clue!

I take this one, seems good I think

also I do Huel black for protein, not everyone likes it though, and it isn’t cheap ready to drink. I like the chocolate one.

Can I join??

Did my first jab on 3rd October.
Im 5’7”
SW 15st 3lb
GW 11st
Current weight 12st 9lb
Lost just over 2.5 stone hurrah!

Imitially lost 5lb the first week, then settled into losing a steady 2.5lb a week, then had some really slow weeks (a pound a week, sometimes just under) but lost 3 last week.

To be honest I could probably have lost more but I like to eat out and I don’t really exercise much other than walking the dog. Even so I’m eating a lot less and skipping sweet stuff at home and not snacking. I do need to knuckle down though as it’s getting expensive now the doses are going up..

God it’s amazing though ♥️

Ohdear7 · 23/01/2025 17:18

Has anyone else experienced dizziness / fatigue / feeling faint after increasing doses? I’ve been on 2.5mg since early Oct 24 and had no side effects and was really pleased with steady weight loss so stayed on low dose for as long as poss. But suppression started to dwindle so I increased to 5mg and this week I’ve felt exhausted and dizzy everyday. Had to leave work early today as felt like I could faint. Wondering whether it is low blood sugar or perhaps low blood pressure. Might need to go back down to 2.5mg, just worried suppression may no longer be as effective.

Likely low blood sugar as you stayed on intiating treatment so long your body is adjusting. Get some glucose sweets and hopefully you can begin to tolerate it. Going back is unlikely to work I’m afraid.

So, this is more of a note to self post really. But, today I have gone up to 7.5 (after 2nd month on 5mg). I had no change in weight over the last month.

This week I have started back at the beginning with my running doing C25K and also begun a trial reformer Pilates 4 week course and an at home strength program to go along side the back to running course.

I had lost 10% with my first 2 pens, and clothes that I barely squeezed into and looked awful in are now comfortable which is really great.

I believe that staying on the 5mg along with Christmas, being away and possible plateau effect have led to my weight and measurements being stuck. I know that I am doing everything correctly now so I am confident that I will see changes again.....but I also have my fingers crossed!

I have logged all of my measurements as a start of 2025 marker to compare against going forward!!

Thanks again everyone for your posts!

2nd 7.5 jab tomorrow....still stuck at same weight.(5 weeks now, i think).....
I've stared the Couch 2 5k..and some strength and pilates and been eating well.
For the 2.5 and first 5 jabs I had a nice level of suppression, and food noise disappeared, I had no bad side effects, and I lost 10kg.
Stayed on 5 for the third pen as I thought I was doing well and didn't want to risk any bad side effects as we were away over Christmas. No loss that month, and suppression wore off. I was OK to stay the same weight.
I went up to 7.5 last week and did hope to feel how I did on pen one and two. But the suppression, lack of food noise, and other moinjaro benefits have not come back.....yet...so, staying the same weight on willpower.

I'm hoping for some effect from the second 7.5 tomorrow.......🤞(and dropping the remaining carbs). It's funny how it worked so well for the first two pens...

Mrsmajeeka · 23/01/2025 20:07

@Ohdear7 i have just started back on 2.5 after a couple of weeks break due to side effects and this week has felt like it did the first time i jabbed back in October in terms of suppression and food noise so worth a try if you’re feeling that bad on the 5.

I also found little difference between 5 and 7.t, but ten is a significant difference , and I am hoping to stay at this level now till I hit goal.

Oh that is interesting, thanks. @losingthetimber do you have any bad side effects on 10, or are you finding it OK?

EVK · 23/01/2025 21:12

@Ohdear7 ive not felt particularly dizzy on 5mgs but incredibly tired/wiped out and sooooo cold! I have forced myself to eat as I think it’s low blood sugar.

No none at all, to be fair though the only side effects I had was in 5mg for the first two weeks for a few days each time, just nausea, nothing since,

ten is something else though. Suppression 24/7, no wearing off, but I still eat my cals and my macros, more as I know it’s important to be fair.

Losingthetimber · 24/01/2025 08:09

I’m a little thoughtful this morning, I see my colleagues in 3 weeks, I last saw them just as I started this journey, when I was obese, and I’m going to walk in over 3 stone lighter by that point, and probably half a stone from a healthy weight.

i know visibly I look very different, due to my face and tummy shrinking back. so the difference to them will be significant, as they haven’t seen the journey down if that makes sense. And don’t know I’m losing weight, as I’ve not mentioned it, so for them it will be a sudden change.

im really hoping they don’t focus on it too much, I don’t mind brief comments, or questions, but anything more prolonged and I will feel uncomfortable. And I know them well enough to know thats a risk. Especially as it’s not seeing them all at once, but staggered.

anyone else had to deal with comments from folks you last saw when you started or before? How did it go?

littleburn · 24/01/2025 09:25

Weigh in day for me today and a couple more lbs down, so 24lb off in total. Currently on a 10 pen with good suppression, but it does wear off by the end of the week so may go up to 12.5 next.

Height: 5ft 2
SW: 12st 2 (31.1 BMI)
CW: 10st 6 (26.7 BMI)
GW: 9st 7 (24 BMI)

I'm late 40s and an hourglass shape (well, more of an apple at my staring weight!) with generous boobs and bum, so upper-end of a healthy BMI is a realistic and maintainable goal for me. Definitely time to start exploring the maintenance-friendly suppliers as I'm within a stone of target. I think Cloud and Oushk are the go-to for maintenance from what I've read on here??

@Losingthetimber absolutely no one has commented on my loss so cant help you there! I find that interesting in itself - I think one impact of body-positivity is people are much more cautious about commenting on weight-loss nowadays, whereas in the past I've always had people say something when I've lost.

If someone did today, I'd probably say I've been calorie-counting, watching my macros and exercising (which isn't a lie), but if they asked me directly if I'd been jabbing I don't honestly know what I'd say!

HappyNewt · 24/01/2025 10:01

Thanks - that is helpful. I am also keen to make sure that I eat correctly even with suppression as I don't want to end up starving myself to lose the weight as that isn't healthy or sustainable. It worked well at the beginning so hopefully it will return to that as I go up - I only changed my eating over the holiday period as I wasn't able to control what was available (I did continue to manage portions), so otherwise I am doing the same - but I am now exercising more!

Well done on your loss and I hope meeting up with the work colleagues goes well, and that they are just appropriately/politely complementary, without making a 'thing' of it...I think most people are wary now about commenting on peoples weight (either way) out of fear for offending/drawing attention - which sometimes means missing out on compliments too!

Losingthetimber · 24/01/2025 10:19

@HappyNewt thank you and me too, I don’t mind comments but would hate any staring or anything making it the centre of attention.

and yes, I make sure I eat my cals, I had two days I didn’t on ten and then gave my head a wobble, so now I make sure to do it. Starving myself would be ridiculous and not the way to get healthy, which for me is the key objective here.

EVK · 24/01/2025 22:27

I can understand that this circumstance is giving you cause to feel anxious. I really hope it goes well for you and will feel positive. My colleagues have seen the process (they do regularly comment on my weight loss!) I did have a meeting with someone that hasn’t seen me for a while and she mentioned I’d lost a lot of weight. She wasn’t intrusive about it and I just said I’d been trying for a while and given up drinking which meant I was no longer binge eating and that had done the trick along with eating healthy. She didn’t dig any deeper so hopefully your colleagues won’t either. I did feel a little uncomfortable but also quite chuffed! It’s a strange one. You could just say thank you and I’ve been working hard on it!
We should feel proud of ourselves it’s not a sin to use MJ and we don’t have to declare it or feel bad for not declaring it! It’s our business and our bodies so hold your head up high and feel proud about your amazing achievements 🙌🏻

flowerlady2 · 25/01/2025 09:46

Morning all,
I’ve stayed on 7.5 this month because I had found for the first time I was a bit light headed and fatigued so thought I’d repeat rather than go up. 6 weeks in I’ve adjusted to it, does anyone know if it’s possible to get a 8.5 or 9 dose from a 7.5 pen? I have some insulin needles for bonus jabs. I thought I might try and up the dose slightly for the last 2 or 3 weeks of the 7.5 pen?

Morning all, weighed in today and lost 2 pounds so now at 30 pound lost in 13 weeks. Which is great as have been in a plateau for the last 3 weeks. Got one more week at 5mg and then going up to 7,5mg next week.

Also when I hit a plateau before another diets I would have got despondent and given up, mounjaro has just helped me crack on and keep going.

This is the exact date that my plateau of 3 weeks also went, how weird! Must be something going on as lots saying same

Bluenose1966 · 25/01/2025 11:04

@flowerlady2. For mls for any dose the formula is:
Target dose / Pen strength * 0.6ml = Required mls
So if you intend to take the whole doses you suggested by insulin syringe -
8.5/ 7.5* 0.6 =0.68mls
9 / 7.5* 0.6 = 0.77mls
(Obviously check my maths just in case I have made an error.)

Weekly official weigh in yesterday and another 2lb off. Was considering reducing to 3.75mg as suppression so high but stayed on 5mg as suppression reduced as week went on.
Not sure if my weight loss has been a steady 2lb a week lately despite being quite close to goal, as am eating at least 120g protein a day, mostly by eating chicken, steak, salmon, eggs, cottage cheese as well as a low sugar protein bar and beef isolate protein shake. Eating so much protein is really filling it has more or less stopped my cravings. No doubt I will now have a plateau for several weeks!!!
I have always done a bit of weight training but am following more structured programme as conscious of my saggy elephant skin like derriere😂Well saggy everything thinking about it🙄
Though main thing is I look good in clothes and joint aches have gone so can live with it.
Week 14 weigh in.
Age 58 and on HRT.
SW 12-2
CW 9-12
GW 9-7 - though still not sure.
