I've found a very inspirational lady in tik tok who knows the owner of Oushk so I'm going down that avenue via her once I've ordered my nex pen from medexpress. It's down on a case by case basis even if your near target which I'm hoping helps me 🙈

Ah, thank you @rockingbird and @Bluenose1966 im going to screen shot these replies and if I don’t get any joy (as I’ve just filled out an online form) I’ll use the information you have both kindly provided. I’ll have to check out your TikTok inspiration! Not an avenue I’ve ever explored before ! I dint know how much protein I’m consuming a day and as a pescatarian it mainly comes from fish most days or eggs, plus chickpeas and lentils here and there! Some cheese grated on something or milk/dairy. Maybe I need to be a little more systematic in how monitoring it. It’s not something I’m good at. I get the need for it with regards to our muscle mass. I’m guessing you’re around my age too 1966, I’m 1968! So we really need to be mindful.
Enjoy shopping for your family event and welcome to the 9’s!!! 🙌🏻 I’m so happy for us all 😃

Losingthetimber · 19/01/2025 11:58

Nsv here, I don’t look fat on the ring doorbell any more. Now don’t get me wrong, I ain’t looking slim either, but defo not fat. So I’ll take that 😂

TheChosenTwo · 19/01/2025 12:04

I took some progress pics yesterday, took them on day one and then every 4 weeks. It’s weird, looking at the first one and then the 3 months in one, I can sort of tell I have trimmed down from my side view but from the front I still look pretty much the same and the back view is still horrendous! Still have the very visible back fat which I had hoped would have disappeared by now.
Made me think I need to be upping the exercise. I walk a lot and swim a lot but obviously neither of these things are really doing much in terms of toning.
my upper arms have come down by about 4cms - measuring is something I’ve done since the start too and it’s really helpful to confirm that I’m shrinking.
Ive got a gym membership but I never go as I feel so out of place. Might just buy some weights at home and find a YouTube workout.

Go to the gym, once you’ve been a couple of times or so the awkward feeling will go. Most gyms have many different types of people there. It’s just the newness of being there. Ince you’ve been a couple of times you will realise no one is watching you, everyone is absorbed in their own work out. Folks are very self absorbed at the best of times. Everyone feels out of place the first couple of times.

also do what you’re happy with the first times, be it a bike ride, or a low cross trainer session, or a walk on the treadmill. Just get used to it, and then you will be fine.

EVK · 19/01/2025 13:55

@TheChosenTwo @Losingthetimber is so right - I felt the same before I went and it took ages for me to build up the courage to cross over the threshold and then I wondered why I’d been so worried! Don’t know what your gym s like but mine has all ages, stages of fitness and sizes working out so I’m sure you’ll feel better once you start. You’ve got a membership and you’ve got just as much right to be there as anyone else 👍🩷

UtterlyQuackers · 19/01/2025 14:52

I have developed bingo wings! Working the weights but I can't see any improvement yet! I am hoping they will tone up but I suspect I'll end up with lose skin. Thank you hyper mobility!

Great reading all these wins! Keep going ladies!

UtterlyQuackers · 19/01/2025 14:53

Also there are some great dumbbell workouts on YouTube!

TheChosenTwo · 19/01/2025 17:24

Thanks @EVK and @Losingthetimber - I’ve been a member for years and been an avid user and then not.
I’ve booked myself on a spin class tomorrow morning because I love it but it’s the actual gym that I avoid! Too many mirrors and people looking like they know what they’re doing with weights 😂
I’m just too embarrassed to go on my own and not know what I’m doing, fart about awkwardly for 10 minutes and leave. But maybe I need to rethink. The membership costs a stupid amount of money, the spa is lovely 😂 and the spin studio is great. The gym is really well equipped with lots of weight machines as well as loads of free weights.
I don’t know anyone else who goes either so not like I can take a friend for emotional support!
Perhaps I’ll book back in with a PT there to create me a programme. But I feel it might be money down the drain because I’m sure I can find it all online really.
Either way, these arms need some work!

For those that need some motivation to do exercise someone on mumsnet posted this.

Really interesting, especially liked the section on reducing likelihood of weight gain when coming off it if by doing small amount of training. The good news is it is never too late to start to reduce muscle loss which occurs when losing weight without exercising. One of key takeaways was to take the lowest dose possible so that weight loss not too rapid, rather than dosing up automatically. Frustrating as part of me wants to lose the weight ASAP, even though the sensible part of my brain knows that too quick will be muscle loss as well as fat loss.

Staying on a low dose and losing weight slowly is also more expensive, I can't afford to be on it for a year!

Although I'm a v slow loser anyway, 8lbs in 3.5 months so not a decision I've had to make yet! 😄

I've been doing strength training for over a year now but not consistently due to time, should have a lot more time soon though so hopefully this will help with coming off mounjaro. Will watch the video later!

Well done! I'm hoping this might happen for me this week!

rockingbird · 20/01/2025 06:45

@TheChosenTwo if you have used the gym equipment in a while ask at reception for an induction. The gym staff are trained to show you how to use the machines and write a basic program. This is a good starting point and you can use this as a re-introduction into using the gym. The spin class is good for stamina training but to build muscle mass you'll need to use the weights. In that note... I bought an all singing/dancing pair of body scales yesterday - as suspected I'm losing too much muscle mass and not enough body fat! 🙈 I also have a splendid gym membership and I need to step foot in to and build my body back up!! I've been careful in the past 6 months as I do have a knee injury so only doing aqua .. this is going to have to change somehow with some light weight training. The consultant for my knee concerns has been flaky to say the least.. 2 MRI scans 3 X-rays and he's dithering on whether I need an operation - all pre-approved by bupa I should add. 🙄

hmmm I watched that video and I’m not sure I agree it’s a key takeaway, we obvs heard different things. He is focused on micro dosing, which is against guidelines, with no real trials behind, and he said if it goes too high you lose the benefits, but I certainly didn’t see it as not to go up automatically. Going too high is very different to not going up automatically. And you know when you’re too high, you’re unwell.

the key takeaway for me, was to focus on building muscle. As you burn more fat, and the risk of regain is much lower. As well as all the health benefits to the different body organs, and that staying on these for life will be beneficial.

an excellent video though.

letshavetea · 20/01/2025 07:39

Morning all. Well, this weeks weigh in shows that I’ve lost the pound I gained last week. I’m only two pounds down in a month. Never mind, hopefully I’m now going to keep losing and the plateau will be coming to an end. In the past I’d have put on over the Christmas and new year season! Fingers crossed for all of us experiencing the same!

@rockingbird sorry about your knee injury. I’ve had the same - meniscus tear. Consultant was good. Avoided a knee replacement (so far) with steroid injections, aqua classes, a private physio and pt in the gym. I’ve worked hard to strengthen muscles in both legs. If you’re on the borderline would that work for you? I appreciate your injury may be different to mine.

rockingbird · 20/01/2025 09:59

@letshavetea I have a severe meniscus tear and also tibia bone damage - the consultant originally said a full knee replacement was necessary, then after x-rays said given my level of fitness and age I'd be better off having a tibial osteotomy 🤷🏼‍♀️ wait 6 months in a knee brace and see how you go..! Had a de-brief call with a specialist at bupa who said that was pointless and delaying the inevitable and approved the surgery. More full leg x-rays were done before Christmas and now the consultant wants more! I'm frustrated as I'd mentally prepared myself for the surgery - pre warned HR at work and now it's all been stalled.. I've done very little exercise for fear of doing more damage, now I'm thinking sod it and I'll do as I please and face the consequences. Months of back and forth for nothing so far 🤯

letshavetea · 20/01/2025 10:11

@rockingbird happy to pm you my consultant if you want a second opinion. I think I would consider it. Doesn’t sound as if he’s confident in his decision making. Sorry you’re gong though all this.

terracottacountryfarms · 20/01/2025 10:24

I have been constantly cold since starting MJ in October. I'm cold every single waking day, right down to my bones and I'm not sure if this is a side effect or where I've lost the warmth of the fat that cuddled me before (2 stone down). Please has anyone else suffered with this?!

TheOtherSide21 · 20/01/2025 10:36

I keep forgetting to check in! Utterly Rubbish.

I took my last 10mg dose last Friday. It's on to 12.5mg for me this week.

Decided to have a wee Monday weigh in this morning, and I am delighted that I am bang on the 5 stone (70lbs) loss mark.

This stuff is incredible and absolutely life changing. It gets such a bad rep, and is easily abused, but I think I've used it sensibly and I feel brilliant.

letshavetea · 20/01/2025 10:36

@terracottacountryfarm yes, I’m the same! Always cold even with the central heating on full blast and a fleecy throw over me! The only thing that helps is wrapping up warm and having a brisk walk!

Losingthetimber · 20/01/2025 10:46

@terracottacountryfarm , yes it’s very common, don’t worry.

Third week on ten, feel slightly nauseated last night and this morning, for the first time considered not eating brekkie, and then gave my head a wobble, starving myself doesnt doesn’t do any good. And actually feel a little better for eating, even though I wasn’t remotely hungry or wanting it.

I think you’ve just got to eat, and a lot of folks nausea is exacerbated by not eating and having low blood sugar. I can see it would be easy to do. But it must make you feel like shit.

ive also stopped vaping three days ago, so thats fun. 😂

JustKeepsBreathing · 20/01/2025 13:00

Weekly weigh-in. Lost 1lb this week 🤷🏻‍♀️ so this week for my 15th dose I’ve gone back up the final half a mg to 5 mg dose - hoping that will give me a boost without extra side effects. Had terrible constipation this week 😬 so need to up my fibre too.

Total weight loss is now 2 stone and 8 lbs.
SW 15 stone 1 lb
CW 12 stone 7 lbs
GW 10 stone 3 lbs

Good luck to everyone this week x

Carridoesntlivehereanymore · 20/01/2025 13:46

Week 15 and I am 31lbs down!! I cannot believe I am typing that!! The next target is the 4½lbs to get out of the 13s, and that will very quickly be followed by getting into the overweight range.

No weight loss this week. I've been ill so haven't been swimming for almost a fortnight. Also, I've allowed bread to creep in for lunchtime sandwiches and too much 7% alcohol wine this last week or two, both of which have to stop.

I'm now on my second 5mg dose. I can't say that last week felt much different to the 3.75mg but I tend to start the increased dose in my thigh and move on to my stomach the second week, which I did this morning so hoping for more effect this week. It's 13.45 and I'm not too fussed about getting lunch yet so that's promising

And still only one person has said anything!

willieversleep · 20/01/2025 13:59

Hi

I started at the very end of Oct and so have just had my 12th dose of 2.5mg. I have had side effects but mostly manageable. I've lost 36lbs in that time.

The last two injections have left me with v&d that has meant I had to take time off work. Is this likely to be an accumulation in my system as to why I'm suddenly seeing more side effects despite nothing else really changing?

I would say I've had little energy and have found keeping my training to the same level has been a big challenge.

TIA

TheChosenTwo · 20/01/2025 16:02

@Carridoesntlivehereanymore I’m now 3 months and 38lbs down, quite a few people have noticed and commented (which I hate!) - sometimes I look in the mirror and think it’s noticeable and other times I can barely see a difference. So weird!
how long have you spent at each doseage?
