I have never been slim (overweight/obese since being a toddler) so I have no idea what I look like at a smaller weight or size. At 5'7" I've set my ultimate goal at a BMI of 23.9 a round 70 kgs at the moment. No idea if it will be too low or too high, will see when I get closer. 93.4 kgs at the mo, so a long way to go until I get anywhere close. The slimmest I've ever been in adulthood was 92 kgs for a few weeks (until it all went to shit) on weight watchers a few years back

I'm the same I went to SW or WW when I started uni at 18 and was 17/18st then. The lightest I've ever been as an adult was around 16st before my first pregnancy as my BMI was 34.9 and if it was above 35 by delivery I had to be consultant led.

I've no idea what to aim for, I'm currently think BMI 24 would give me a bit of a buffer

lapuf · 14/01/2025 09:00

Thanks @EVK! I'm following Andrew Jenkinson's way of eating so it all aligns, hopefully those whole food/reduced upfs will stand me in good stead Smile I've listened to a couple of Zoe podcasts but fall asleep so will listen in the daytime!

lapuf · 14/01/2025 09:03

@Losingthetimber thanks, I think I'll flip flop on this a fair bit but I'm with med express and only want to order one more pen! I will probably go for clothes size in the first instance

Vegemite123 · 14/01/2025 09:19

@lapuf My goal weight puts me at a "normal" BMI, which is something I have never achieved! The only time I've been near it, though, a lot of people "complained" I was gaunt, so I'm hesitant to drop much below. I'm going to see what things are like when I'm there. I do need to add muscle, so I think that will be my next target: to stay at that weight whilst adding muscle.

@EVK really interesting about some foods stimulating GLP-1. Is it mostly the Zoe website you've read about this? One of my friends has just started Zoe, and I'm really interested to find out what she learns.

MissSmith80 · 14/01/2025 09:26

Morning everyone, sorry to hear that so many of us are in the plateau phase.
I was expecting a 4th week of STS but to my amazement the scales showed a 2lb loss this morning. So although 2lb over a month isn't great - it was Xmas/NY and maybe this is the beginning of a more consistent loss for the next few weeks.

My BMI is now 26 and I weigh 11st 2.5.
I definitely want to get into healthy BMI range which means losing exactly 1 more stone from now.

If I give myself a decent buffer, and get to BMI of 23, that's a weight of 9 stone 9 - that feels too far. I am pretty sure I got to 9 stone 7 about 15 years ago but that was not a good weight for me - I only got there because of stress caused by a significant life event and doing far too much exercise than was healthy or even achievable now that I am a parent/in a more senior position at work.

So I guess I'll aim for 10 stone and see how I feel. I'd like to be a size 10 again, I'm definitely a 12 right now (having been a 14 pushing 16 on some items in only October so it has all happened fairly quickly). It is inevitable that the last bit will take longer.

I'm also going to stick with 5mg for another month and see how that goes before moving up again.

Finally (sorry for long message, it's been a while since I did a proper update and I rely on these threads to read back on my own progress), I switched to Cloud this month with 1 eye on maintenance.

Good luck everyone. I really enjoy reading and learning from your posts.

I've booked in for some cheap group personal training session for some weights technique! I've been doing couch to 5k and sporadic squats plus regular planks (I'm back up to 1m 50s!). I also do functional exercise looking after my horse crew (plus riding)

Just weighed and am just over 21lbs down now, so 1.5 stone
SW 11.11.2
CW 10.4
GW 9.7 but may revise to 9 stone and then give myself half a stone window to stay in. I'm a size 10 at that weight and was only five years ago I was last there so still have clothes that are quite nice! How is everyone else deciding on goal weight?

I’ve not got a goal weight! I don’t think I’ve even dared to think about it, because for the last 10 years all I’ve done is gain weight and nothing has ever worked (until now). I had a sort of “this would be incredible” target of losing 2 stone, but that would still mean I’m overweight.

I’m losing very slowly (averaging 1lb a week) so I’ve got plenty of time to think about it. I think like @Losingthetimber says - I’ll see as I go and base it on what I look like/clothes I fit in/how I feel.

I have a bit of an obsessive personality where I want to read/think all about my current interest. The maintaining once you come off MJ is taking up a lot of my thoughts at the moment! I had planned 13 more jabs and then go it alone. Anyone got any insight/articles, please? I do lurk on the earlier starters' threads Grin

I am exactly the same, I lurk on earlier threads as well😂. Read loads over last few months re MJ in general but now focusing on maintenance. There is also quite a lot on Reddit re Mounjaro / Zepbound maintenance
From the research studies I have read the results indicate that those who stop MJ put significant amount of the weight back on so I think I am going to have to carry on it in some form, maybe month on or month off approach. Or even one where if I do start to put the weight back on I am on a maintenance plan that allows me to start again on 2.5mg.
Hoping cheaper medications are eventually available.

AnneinEdinburgh · 14/01/2025 14:18

Has anyone received MJ from MedExpress and had the ice packing it melted? This has happened the last twice to me. The first they refunded, the second they are saying I should use it even after the 30 day without refridgeration limit even though it would be day 35 I would use it on as the weather was cold so it is probably ok. Given they have no control over how MJ is stored in transit - trains, vans, depots etc, how do they know that even in cold weather it couldn't have been sitting in a warm place?

Missreginafalange · 14/01/2025 20:50

Hi all, weigh 13 for me and I've stayed the same for the second week running, but I know I am in a deficit and that it will pick up soon and seeing others saying about a plateau at the moment and we are are all roughly the same amount of weeks actually gives me a little comfort that it is actually a thing!

SW 15.6
CW 13.6
GW 11.6

Going to concentrate on upping my water (as it's terrible right now) and staying in a deficit.

Got a bonus dose to take next week out of my 2nd 5mg pen and then have a 7.5mg pen to go to after that.

littleburn · 14/01/2025 21:29

Solidarity with everyone experiencing the dreaded plateau. Mine was for a few weeks before Christmas, but back to steady losses again now. With any diet I find my body is happy with losing weight up to a certain point (about 10% of my starting weight), and then slams the breaks on and tries to maintain my new weight. Once it's stabilised and adjusted to the new set point over those plateau weeks I start losing again. The difference with MJ is I haven't lost heart during those weeks and thrown the towel in!

That's exactly the same benefit that I'm finding. It's not that I couldn't achieve the same goals if I has the willpower... I probably could. But I just struggle to stick at it and always 'fall off the wagon'. Now there's no wagon to fall off! 3 months on MJ 🙌

Maarva · 14/01/2025 23:16

Just hopping on the thread to ask a weird question - what does your body feel like where it’s losing weight? I carry a lot of fat in my thighs and there and my stomach in particular feel really soft and squishy now. I suppose the fat was keeping it all firmer? Has anyone else had this?

I am doing lots of weight and strength work in the gym so focusing on muscle building.

Tohaveandtohold · 15/01/2025 03:06

@Maarva , I’ve been doing strength training and lots of weighted exercises before I even started MJ and I haven’t stopped and my stomach especially is very soft and squishy just as you described. My bum and thigh is now getting firmer and that may be because of the squats but the belly is so soft in comparison. I do lots of abs work out too but I had a really big belly to start with so I can see how it’ll take a while to firm up.

HansHolbein · 15/01/2025 09:57

@Maarva I would say it’s.. wobbly. I’m sure it will improve the more I lose weight. I’m doing kettle bell workouts and squats so hopefully that will all help. There’s also a huge steep horrible hill next to my house that I climb as often as I can.

Haven’t updated in a while..

5’5 PCOS
SW 16st 2.7lb BMI 37.7
CW 13st 4.2lb BMI 31
Loss 2st 12.5lbs

Feeling so much better ever since @letshavetea recommended injecting my thigh. Will be forever grateful!

@Fizzleaawayy are you ok?

@mincepieinthesky.. are you ok?

Did my 5.0 on Sunday as usual and today I am really hungry. It sucks, not felt like this since I started in October 2024. Anyone else feel like this? The food noise is back. I’m waiting for my diabetic blood tests to come back. I’m hoping the Dr will let me increase the dose.

letshavetea · 15/01/2025 20:12

I’ve just listened to this podcast from the ZOE nutrition team. It’s very interesting and talks about nutrition when on GLP1 antagonists like MJ.

I had periods of this on most of the jabs, worked well at suppressing for a few weeks and then tailed off massively after a couple of days for the last week or 2 of the jab,
I just figure it’s my body’s way of showing me I’m not at my optimum doseage although I’ve used it as a helpful training exercise at ensuring I have sensible meals and if I want a snack I’ll have one but I make sure I’m prepared with something that’s 1, not going to set off my sugar cravings, 2, actually has some nutrients in it and 3 does help to fill me up and not just a temporary fix.
Ive not eaten crisps or chocolate bars in months which considering before October I didn’t go a day without at least one of each is miraculous. Even on my hungry days I don’t eat them, just don’t want them or even consider them as food anymore.

How long have you been on 5 for? It worked really well for 7 weeks for me then was wearing off after 2 days so I went up after 2 pens. Best decision

UtterlyQuackers · 15/01/2025 21:16

Just reporting back. Pharmacy 2 u were pretty good. Ordered Sunday and delivered today. They asked for a front photo and id when ordering. The next day asked for my prescription as I said I was on 7.5mg but was ordering 12.5mg. Sent them a photo of both boxes and label and they were happy with that.

Hope that I will be almost at my target weight after I am done with the 12.5mg and hoping for a great deal on the last pen. 🤣

NearlyAutumnNow · 16/01/2025 05:58

Hi All, I haven’t been on here for a while and been plodding along with injections without any dramas however this week (2nd week of 7.5) I’ve had 2 bouts of diarrhoea. I’ve not experienced this before on lower doses (though I know it’s a common side effect generally) and am not eating any differently either. Is this something others have had on 7.5 vs the lower doses??

lapuf · 16/01/2025 07:52

Morning all 👋
Have had a whoosh this week, was 10.4.5 on Monday after a sts last week at 10.7, scales now showing 10.2! Thanks for the plateau advice and articles

lapuf · 16/01/2025 09:04

I just went to log my weight on mfp as not done that for a while, mainly using Shotsy, and looks like this was my weight set point a year ago. Wonder if it remembers!

Yes, same here. I’m currently on my 9th week of 5mg (got 5 doses out of first pen), and suppression has vanished, food noise creeping back (though like @TheChosenTwo says, I’m not craving crisps or chocolate, which is not normal for me). I’m loathe to throw a dose down the sink but I really need to start the 7.5 pen. My weight hasn’t shifted for about 3 weeks.

I found this as I got to the latter half of my second 5mg pen. I took 7.5mg from it at the end, finishing it earlier than originally planned, and now I'm onto regular 7.5mg pen, the suppression etc is all working well again.
