@EVK Yes abdominal, in a surgery incision from last March across to my belly button. It doesn't take much for it to 'pop' at the moment which is freaking me out a bit. I think realistically I'm going to be largely walking until it's repaired. GP said to avoid any pulling, pushing or lifting. I don't know which came first, the hernia or the hernia happened because of my back, but I've also got quite a bit of lower back pain. Maybe I should ask for a physio referral while I'm waiting for the op.

Ah that’s interesting as sat was my 14th, still no reaction.6-13 wasn’t good, escalated a lot, and last two weeks the same, but tailed off after third day, rather than lasting all week, and now nothing at all this week. Fingers crossed that’s it and it doesn’t happen again.

ive no side effects other than suppression. Except one. I’m freezing, heating on full bung, layers and big socks and a fan heater blowing hot air straight at me and I’m still freezing! Husband is due home in a couple of hours, at this rate he will be sitting here in his boxers sweating 😂

It’d be great if the reaction really does tail off for us!!

OMG I’m also freezing. I’m currently wearing hiking socks, 1.5 tog thermal trousers, a Damart top + T-shirt + jumper. And I’m still cold! Mind you, I’m Australian so I have always felt the cold badly. Have you tried a heated throw? That really helps me, though I can’t move once I’m settled in.

Morning all! I'm back from my AI week in Gran Canaria and incredulous to report that I managed to lose 2.5lbs whilst I was away. We did very little exercise wise but I ate and drank carefully in order to minimise potential gains.
SW 15st 7lbs
CW 14st 11.25lbs
I'm a slow loser and struggling to titrate up the doses but it seems as though my body is slowly adjusting. I injected 2.5mgs prior to departure after a couple of weeks off due to the extreme side effects/illness I suffered just before Christmas. Last night I tried 3.0mgs and feel O.K. this morning - just a bit dehydrated which I'm currently fixing!
@HansHolbein the new granddaughter is absolutely beautiful and I've been enjoying all the newborn snuggles - thank you for asking about her. Both she, DD and SIL are all fine now after the very traumatic arrival. She attracts a lot of attention wherever we go mainly I think due to having masses of jet black hair and being such a pretty little thing. I'm in love you can tell!
I've enjoyed catching up with the thread and reading all about everybody's stunning successes. Now we're in the New Year I'm going to attempt to titrate up even if by a micro dose weekly to try to balance the side effects I suffer from against some worthwhile weight loss. I accept my slow losses due to managing side effects as well as the added complications of hypothyroidism and age but I do feel I should justify the cost too.

Well sadly I can report late last night I started getting a reaction, and it’s stronger this morning, but it is very small. I’d say about the size of my thumb nail. Where as before it would be about the diameter of a satsuma.

I didn’t take an antihistamine either to see if there really was no reaction, so popped one this morning.

so it’s still there, but greatly reduced, so I’d say tailing off but not gone totally.

and heated throw could be the answer!

Morning all. I’m very fed up today. Took dose 16 yesterday (5mg). Today is weigh day and I’ve put on a pound! I know it’s fluctuation, water weight etc etc. But, it’s still hard to take for a painfully slow loser like me! That means in a month I’ve only lost 2 pounds! Sorry, rant over!!

That's horrible for you @letshavetea . I was here yesterday a bit despondent that I'd only lost a pound this week. Maybe we're getting towards plateau stage and we'll just have to gut it out for a few weeks until we start losing again.
Have to say, it does feel a bit galling to be spending ££££ on weight loss medication and not losing much weight. I'm just trying to think about how much weight I would have lost at this point without MJ - answer: not a lot.

ohforfoxs · 13/01/2025 12:35

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of advice. Second 10ml dose in and weight isn't moving - creeping up if anything. I've lost 21 pounds since starting but getting a bit frustrated and bored of it now. Have another 2 stone to lose.

Tracking calories, around 1300 a day, plenty of water, not exercising as such (too cold to get out!) but keeping active in the house (emptied loft out yesterday - must have burned a few).

Over the weekend I had some treats: half a pizza and one small glass of wine. All tracked.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm really hoping someone is going to tell me they have, and then half a stone dropped off in a day 😁

See my response to @letshavetea @ohforfoxs . I think we must be hitting a plateau stage as we're about three months in now. Someone posted an article, I think it was on the last thread, about plateaus and why they happen that I found really informative.
Let's hope that's what it is and sometime soon the weight's going to start falling off again

letshavetea · 13/01/2025 12:44

@igivein thanks so much. I do wonder if that’s what may be happening. Fingers crossed it is and we all start to lose again soon.

JustKeepsBreathing · 13/01/2025 13:00

Weekly weigh-in. Well, the dose increase to 4.5 mg worked well and I’ve lost 2.5 lbs this week with only mild tiredness and nausea. So I’m sticking with that dose for another week.

Total weight loss is now 2 and a half stone!!! More than half way to goal. I would never have believed this could happen 😀
And it’s so inspiring to see that some of you are already thinking about maintenance (I’ve still got a bit to go).

SW 15 stone 1 lb
CW 12 stone 8 lbs
GW 10 stone 3 lbs

Good luck to everyone this week x

ohforfoxs · 13/01/2025 13:17

Thanks so much for the responses - I'll have a read.

Good to know I'm not alone 😊

HappyNewt · 13/01/2025 13:26

this was the other article that i read after stalling through December which helped remind me to crack on with exercising! It also reminded me that I had become 'relaxed' with some of my eating - which I was aware of and had expected over Christmas....but it was a good nudge to be honest with myself and re focus....
I think that it is easy to compare to bigger losers and to think that it should all be happening as if by magic, but we are all different and I know that my focus now needs to be on clean eating, exercise and monitoring my hydration.

Week 12 for me and going well, I've suddenly noticed (on a work zoom call) my face is much thinner 😆 no one has actually said anything but I'm definitely shrinking.

I have some big birthday parties coming up and feel really good about attending. In the past I've dreaded attending such events! I should be working but my willing the hours away looking at dresses online.. I feel like I need some sort of reward. No spend January so won't be buying anything just yet!

Definitely the plateau stage, don't be too disheartened most people seem to hit this stage and I suspect I'm also next! I've opted to stick at 5mg for another month but if I don't see the results I'm hoping for I'll maybe consider moving up. Do you still have the food suppression? Would you consider going up in doses?

HappyNewt · 13/01/2025 13:55

oh and I had deliberately stayed on 5mg for a second month as I was a bit concerned that I might get some adverse side effects whilst away over Christmas and I had hoped/wondered if I would keep on losing/staying with the same good effects (suppression etc) for a second month...I have ordered 7.5 for my next pen so I am confident that combined with focusing on food (as I did before Christmas) and exercise will see the kgs falling again!!!

lapuf · 13/01/2025 18:08

I have a bit of an obsessive personality where I want to read/think all about my current interest. The maintaining once you come off MJ is taking up a lot of my thoughts at the moment! I had planned 13 more jabs and then go it alone. Anyone got any insight/articles, please? I do lurk on the earlier starters' threads Grin

letshavetea · 13/01/2025 19:43

@rockingbird thank you. I’ve still got suppression. Have just taken my second 5mg injection. I have one more 5mg pen to start and a 7.5 mg arriving tomorrow. So, my plan is to use the 5mg pen and then slowly titrate up to 7.5mg over that first 7.5 mg pen. This is the approach I’ve taken with moving up to 5mg and it’s worked for me.
I do think you’re right and that it is a bit of a plateau. I’ll just keep going as I know these things can last a while!

We are all experiencing the plateau place ! I’ve not lost anything in about 3 weeks. But have managed not to out on weight over my birthday/Christmas and NY’s so I keep telling myself to keep on doing what I’m doing, it’s part of the process - our bodies are freaking out and using all the mechanisms at hand eg. lowering temperatures, metabolism and holding onto fat reserves in a desperate attempt to keep us within our ‘normal weight range’ We have to get to a new re-set point or something which could take a considerable amount of time (in the meantime we have to hold our nerve and keep up the good work). Our bodies are amazing and only trying to conserve the status quo.

Yes I'm experiencing this too. I lost 1.5lbs last week but other than that, 3 weeks of staying the same.

lapuf · 14/01/2025 07:11

Just weighed and am just over 21lbs down now, so 1.5 stone
SW 11.11.2
CW 10.4
GW 9.7 but may revise to 9 stone and then give myself half a stone window to stay in. I'm a size 10 at that weight and was only five years ago I was last there so still have clothes that are quite nice! How is everyone else deciding on goal weight?

As far as I can tell maintaining with medication is all about maintaining all the healthy habit we put in place now. MJ is like a support which gives us time to change behaviours. I found reading about all the healthy foods which stimulate the GLP - 1 hormone interesting - we can make more ourselves with the right diet. The gut microbiome is of huge interest to me and I think is really the magic key to it all. As soon as you allow the wrong microbes to over grow (by basically eating high sugar, saturated fat and UPFs) you kill off the microbes which help generate food regulation, satiating hormones and you destroy the natural balance of glucagon and insulin. sugar levels
Glucagon and insulin work together in a negative feedback system to keep blood sugar levels stable. So our main aim is to stay in balance - healthy food in sensible quantities and healthy levels of exercise that you hopefully enjoy! It’s basically keep doing what we’re doing. MJ doesn’t make us lose weight - we do - when we stop taking it hopefully our bodies are in a good place to keep going - I guess the thing is if we want to stay slim we have to stay healthy!! No slipping back to our old habits. The ‘food noise’ may well return and we may well have a stinger urge to eat more but hopefully by making healthier choices and eating/drinking in moderation we will maintain our losses!?!! I like the Zoe App and Dr Tim Spector podcast for inspiration. https://zoe.com/learn/tim-spector
Keep positive everyone 💕🙌🏻

Jab 15 done managed to get 6.25mg as my bonus dose from the 5mg pen. I'm going to see how my suppression and loss is this week to see whether I stick on 6.25mg for a bit or go up to 7.5mg next week.

3x2.5mg
5x3.75mg
6x5mg
1x6.25mg

Weigh in number 14
SW 21st 9lb
CW 19st 5lb
GW 11st 13lb
-1lbs this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1
Total loss 32lbs / 2st 4lb

My weight loss seems to have really slowed, 17/12 I weighed 19st 9lb and today 14/1 I'm 19st 5lb!! I'm tracking everything and sticking to a deficit so hopefully the weight will get moving a little bit fasteas now I've gone up a bit as I still have over 100lbs to lose!

Mini goal 4st/56lbs down - 17st 9lb by 18/3

I was always 10 stone, but it is a just under 22 bmi, so I decided to go for 23, which is 10 stone 7, as I’m older, and feel this is reasonable, I will decide properly when I get there, it’s still a couple of stone away, and base it on my appearance, if at any stage in the lead up to that, I feel it’s enough, I will stop.

NearlyNewHip · 14/01/2025 07:49

I have never been slim (overweight/obese since being a toddler) so I have no idea what I look like at a smaller weight or size. At 5'7" I've set my ultimate goal at a BMI of 23.9 a round 70 kgs at the moment. No idea if it will be too low or too high, will see when I get closer. 93.4 kgs at the mo, so a long way to go until I get anywhere close. The slimmest I've ever been in adulthood was 92 kgs for a few weeks (until it all went to shit) on weight watchers a few years back
