I have finally treated myself to a heated throw x x x Sod exercise! I'm never moving from the settee again!! Should have gotten one months ago

Ooh I think I need one of these - I'm really cold most of the time!!

I got one for Christmas a couple of years ago and it's never been out of the box. Your post prompted me to go dig it out and I'm now gently toasting as I type - thanks @NearlyNewHip !

Had a cheeky mid-week weigh in this morning 9stone 6lbs!! Bizarrely I have felt ok this week on 5mg and far less suppression but 2lbs down already from Saturday 🤷🏼‍♀️. I'm nearing my GW of 9stone (ideally 8.10-9) so starting to also think about maintenance. I can't actually believe I'm still managing to lose weight. I'm trying to incorporate some weight training into my daily routine, I suspect I'll build muscle weight quickly from previous experience but need my mind to catch up - what I see in the mirror is still the overweight person with bulging bits!! Anyone else have that mindset?

Wow well done!

when fat I don’t really mentally acknowledge I’m fat, I guess as it is a slow transformation,I don’t really see it. As your appearance doesn’t change much one day to the next, or even one week to the next, when gaining weight. It took me a few years to get obese.

however as I’ve lost two and a half stone in 13 weeks it has been a rather fast transformation. And I’m surprised at how different I look. But facially not my body. My face is much thinner.

ive two stone still to lose, to get to 23 bmi, but am now in most size 12’s again. I have a narrow frame and work out a lot, and am 5.7. I can’t quite work out what I will look like another two stone lighter. But two stone lighter is still 7-10 lbs more than I used to be.

i suspect we are all mentally playing catch up one way or the other. As the gain is slow, and the loss is fast in comparison , for many of us.

@Bluenose1966 I’d be interested in any podcast recommendations you have? I feel likewise, battled weight for years so I suspect I’d be a good candidate for long term maintenance dose

@flowerlady2
I listen to my podcasts via Pocketcast so not sure the links below will work if you don't use it but they should be on all platforms.
A really good podcast to listen to about GLP-1s and obesity in general is this interview with Giles Yeo, an Obesity Professor from Cambridge University on "Doctor Karen Explores"
https://pca.st/episode/3e24a7f6-7c67-4665-ab2a-4a9515279e75

I have listened to quite a few podcasts by "Docs Who Lift". They have quite a few GLP-1 episodes explaining results of various trials etc.
This was a good one re lean muscle mass
https://pca.st/episode/9de39255-a201-41e2-8ddd-fc0284d8e114

And this one re importance of exercise.

I enjoy listenibg to my podcasts while doing housework or walking the dog. My friend got me into The Rest Is Politics podcast, despite my apathy. However I love it, have learnt more about what is going on around the world through that than anything else.

Like others. I LOVE my heated Dreamland throw, so much I have two for different rooms. They need to invent a heated onsie so I can move around without getting cold 🤣

@Bluenose1966 Thank you so much! I’ll give these a go :)

lapuf · 10/01/2025 07:03

Thanks for the heated throw recommendations! Just ordered one for DH's birthday, hopefully he'll share Grin

NearlyNewHip · 10/01/2025 07:57

Jab time this evening, thank Christ. I have been hungry and snacky all week. Is it a mind game thing or is it a real that you're hungrier when it's freezing (I don't know....need more calories to get the internal central heating working)? Work is also very very stressful this month and trying my best not to give in. Loads of food in the works kitchen and offers of paid takeaways for working late.
Have one official and the bonus left in my 7.5 pen and my 10mg is ready for collection

The dog and I are currently sharing mine😂It was 14 degrees when I came down this morning. Though central heating now kicked in and the heavy M& S Rosie dressing gown I have is warmest I have ever owned so could be worse

I upped my dose to 5mg yesterday as ate bag of crisps and 3 chocolates last night and could easily have eaten more.
Feel very slight nausea today but not too bad.

Week 12 weigh in today
Age 58 and on HRT.
SW 12-2
CW 10-2
GW 9-7 to 9-10 - though not sure.

Tried some lovely M&S magic jeans in size 12 yesterday, though decided to hold off buying for now as not sure if I will go down a size in next month or so. Only downside is did notice crepe skin on back of my legs when trying them on though.

lapuf · 10/01/2025 08:23

Well done on two stone off @Bluenose1966
👏

ApolloandDaphne · 10/01/2025 08:36

I'm really struggling with what to eat. Okay for breakfast and lunch and if DH is away all good. However when DH is here we really have different food requirements. I would prefer a small plates arrangement but he is a skinny runner who needs quite a lot of food to sustain him. I ended up fat by eating what he does! He would happily sort himself out with pizza or a ready meal and he will fill up with toast when he need to (he isn't much of a cook) but I want us to eat together when we can. What sort of thing are you all preparing for your evening meals?

letshavetea · 10/01/2025 08:56

@ApolloandDaphne i have a similar issue. We do end up having different breakfast and lunch quite often. In the evening I tend to cook what I can tolerate (that doesn’t bring on nausea, heartburn etc) so high fibre, not fatty and emphasis on protein and lots of veg etc. I’ve found that slow cooker casseroles, curries, chilli, roast chicken or fish can be topped up by extra potatoes, rice and bread for my husband. I just have a small portion and save or freeze the rest.

That's the sort of food I have been making up to now and adding in pasta, rice, cous cous etc for DH but I am bored now! I'm longing for the summer and to sit in the garden with some zingy salads. I know I can eat salad in the winter but I'm just not that keen right now. I think I'm just in a grump today!

We're similar here in that DH runs at least 50 miles a week for his commute.
We've been doing hello fresh on a promotional deal, getting five every other week and works quite well as he ups his carb ratio by taking most of mine Grin
Another winner here is chicken fajitas but I don't have the wraps, so basically a Mexican stir fry for me.
I don't calorie count so it's just a case of me not eating bread or pasta usually.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/01/2025 10:34

Thanks @lapuf We did discuss doing Hello Fresh at one point. I must look at it again. I don't calorie count either, I just keep my portions small and have minimal carbs. It seems to be working albeit slowly. I have no desire for super fast weight loss.

Losingthetimber · 10/01/2025 13:43

Well tomorrow is Jab day and this is the first time, and first week on ten, where suppression has lasted all week. No ill effects, just little hunger and feeling full after eating a small amount. Still eating the same calories I have since the start though, as it’s key to sustaining, not regaining fast and getting my protein in to maintain muscle mass.

@lapuf I cook basically the same as we always have, I just forego the carb element normally. So for example last night I had roasted chicken thighs and vegetables. Skin removed from the chicken. Generally it’s a protein, ie fish, seafood, meat and either an accompanying salad or veg for me, husband then has the carb also, rice, potatoes, chips etc.

when both at home at rhe zame time we always eat together, tonight is markies chicken kievs with some salad. He will have mash too, he doesn’t really eat salad much, unless I load it with avocado, cheese, boiled eggs and olive oil dressing. 😂

Anyone else had delayed sickness feelings? Been a dream so far with little to no side effects. 6 weeks on 2.5, 3 weeks on 3.75 and I am currently on second week of 5mg and I feel yucky and sicky.

Losingthetimber · 11/01/2025 07:26

Oops posted on the wrong thread, did the old one. Week 13 weigh in, 2 more lbs down,,lost 2 stone 6.2 lbs!
And second ten mg dose taken.

good luck everyone if it’s your weigh in day!

NearlyNewHip · 11/01/2025 09:04

Height: 5'7 Age: 47
Start Weight: 229
Goal Weight: 154
Current Weight: 206
One pound off this week, 23 lbs in 13 weeks (5 wks 2.5, 5 wks 5 and 3rd wk on 7.5)

TheChosenTwo · 11/01/2025 10:16

Had a bit of a whoosh week, previous weigh in was a 2 week weigh in and was 2lbs for the fortnight over Christmas and new year - a little bit of drinking and indulging and not much 💩!!
weighed in today, week 11, 6lbs gone this week. So will probably be back to 1/2lbs next week which is fine but I was incredulous when I got on the scales this morning!
i’m now 36lbs down in 11 weeks and I reckon about 25lbs to go - not really sure I have a target in mind, I think I’ll know when I’m there.

lickycat · 11/01/2025 11:16

13th jab this morning, so 12 weeks done and 11.8lb down. I’d been fairly happy with the slow & steady loss of 1-2lb, but the last 3 weeks have really stagnated, bringing my average to less than 1lb a week. I’ve done 4 weeks on 2.5 and then stayed on 5 for 8 weeks, and in retrospect that was a mistake. My next pen is 7.5, but it’s not arrived or even approved yet (I’ve changed supplier), so this morning I’m on the 5 bonus dose.

I know a fair few of you have been altering the dose downwards (so doing 3.75 from a 5 pen for example) but has anyone gone upwards? So taken 1.5 doses of a 5 for example to get the 7.5? The maths is mathing, but I’m wondering if there’s a sciencey reason not to do that. I’ve been approved by my current/old prescriber to move up to 7.5 following a call with their pharmacist, but their pen is £80 more than the one I’ve ordered from a new supplier, so it’s caused a delay in me moving up to 7.5. I’ve had to use bonus 5 dose to fill the gap, but I know 5 isn’t doing anything for me anymore. Wondering whether it’s safe to use what’s left of my 5 pen to increase my dose to 7.5. I really don’t want to mess with things, but I don’t want another week on 5 if I can help it.

I’d try and get as much as possible out of the bonus dose - treat it as a ‘bridging’ dose. There probably won’t be enough in the pen to get 7.5, but you might get 6 or a bit more.
I can’t think of any reason not to, if your new pen had arrived in time you would have been taking 7.5 this morning anyway.

HappyNewt · 11/01/2025 12:39

Also stuck at 10% with little actual change with last pen (5mg) so going up to 7.5 for this order. Not overly concerned as I chose not to go up over Christmas as we were away and I wasn't going to have much control over the available food options....and, I didn't want to risk any adverse reactions....
I was interested to see if I would have carried on losing but I am actually pleased not to have gone up over this time. So now I see it as time to crack back on with things again. Clean eating, protein and hydration.
Back to running 10 week course starts next week....eek all paid up for that. I also have a good offer on a gym/pool membership for 2 months (no commitment beyond) so I will be doing that to focus on strength - which I need for running anyway.
So.....here is to the next 2 months of big effort and commitment to establishing more good habits!!!
Thanks again for everyone's updates - it is all very helpful reading your experiences.

EVK · 11/01/2025 13:10

With the having a break thing - I’ve also read several times that you need to start in 2.5mgs again - so, if you take a break this is something to consider.
Its too much of a shock for your body otherwise- it’s totally out of your system very quickly so that’s why you have to start again from introductory dose.
xx

EVK · 11/01/2025 13:25

Hi All,
I did 48 clicks of a 5mg pen last week and did feel a difference as in more suppression and constipation! Also, very tired at some points and feeling a bit lack lustre ! But weigh in day today and I’ve lost nothing again for about the 3rd week! I’m not losing heart but thought something might have moved !
Did my injection this morning and was merrily counting and clicking away and suddenly realised I’d done 49 clicks! Which equates to about 4mgs so I hope I haven’t over done it!! The next 72hrs will let me know!

Does anyone have a code for Ousk as I’m thinking of buying my last 1 or two pens from them if they’ll take me on - as I’m just nudging a healthy BMI now. ASDA is so expensive!
Although, they seem very happy to just keep filling the prescriptions!

I wonder if my plateau has something to do with getting close to my old, healthy weight and my body is just really holding onto this last 7lbs! I’m 9.7lbs now (5ft 1 and tiny bit!), started at the beginning of October (3 months 2 stone down) so was hoping to reach just under 9st so I have some wriggle room. I’ll try and be patient now and just keep going!!

Well done all for your positivity and losses 🙌🏻
