Mounjuro August starters - thread 10 !!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/12/2024 21:40

Crazy we have come this far

Heading to 5mths - that's almost half a year

We have all done so well.

Be proud of ourselves

Yes we have Christmas Day to come but remember that eating a meal and some yummy stuff isn't going to make us all gain the weight back

We have to have some treats or else what is the point in life

Saying we are never going to eat ...... again isn't sustainable

But having one /small portion of something we want is a good thing

We have learnt restraint !!!

To 2025 one and all

Today I weighed and since Friday! have lost more than a kg. So now have lost 20kg.

Slimhopes · 12/01/2025 12:44

Hi everyone, hope I can join although I’m a bit late to the thread but started mounjaro in 2nd August with a BMI of 40.2. Had previously used ozempic and wegovy over 2023/24 and lost weight (started at BMI 42) but had started to put it back on. Mounjaro has been significantly better for me in terms of helping me having a clearer focus on improved diet, I’ve stopped completely having the ‘treats’ of chocolate for example. I’m realising how much I need to just have it cut out completely. Relaxed diet over Christmas but still managed to lose a pound. I generally lose 2lbs a week, don’t have the big losses of 4lbs that I see other people losing. Have now lost almost 4 stones on mounjaro and internally celebrating my BMI being 29.7 this week. Finally not obese, I could cry with happiness! First time in over a decade.
I’ve been lucky so far with no side effects and I’ve just finished my first 10mg pen. Only time I vomited was after eating half a veggie burger from McDonald’s after months of clean eating! I’ve read loads of the threads and it’s great seeing the other august starters journeys and how everyone is persevering.

Morning all!

I'm thinking of changing provider for my next pen and moving to Oushk. How are they with approvals/ deliveries? Been with medexpress so far (gave up on the getting credit bit yonks ago) and oushk are currently quite a bit cheaper plus (although a long way off) am considering them for maintenance. For me, medexpress have been prompt with approving my pens and the deliveries so wanted to ask people with first hand experience of Oushk before swopping! Thanks!

They are very good and very responsive.

I was with Bolt before who were fine but you never quite knew when your pen would arrive. Sometimes approval would be within an hour and dispatch next day, other times it might take a couple of days to approve then another to dispatch meaning I couldn't time delivery for my WFH days.

Oushk allow you to nominate your delivery date which is great. What they do differently is that they approve based on delivery date which means if you order a long time in advance you won't approved until a few days before delivery. This is nothing to worry about.

They are great if you need to change your order and you can combine postage on multiple pens.

Welcome! It is a very busy thread!!

NippyCrab · 12/01/2025 15:16

Do we have the fastest moving thread for MJ starters 🤔 😂 a June starter thread popped up on active and it has similar amount of replies to our thread 10, there's was started in September lol and it the latest one 😄

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2025 17:08

That’s good @weaseleyeshiw do I find this 20% as I moved to them

@FlappingMadly well done

@Slimhopes welcome abroad and amazed you haven’t joined us before

I would also like 4lbs loss a week. Usually 1 or 2 tho last week sts which I was very indignant about 😂

@NippyCrabi think we do as this is 10. Nearing the end so will sort out 11 when late 900’s

did people give up? I said this before if you read thread 1 where we all joined there are many names we have never heard from again

did they stop as couldn’t afford it or stop as felt poorly

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2025 17:09

I just can't keep up with you all! By the time I've come back to the thread so much has moved on too far and I can't reply to everyone because there's so much to reply to.

FlappingMadly · 12/01/2025 17:46

A whoosh is coming your way @Blondeshavemorefun

Hello @Slimhopes ! Amazing loss and whoop! what a lovely feeling to be below 30!

@timetochange24 I've given up.😂

PoemsForTea · 12/01/2025 18:00

For those that read but dont reply as too much has happened - please don't feel you have to. I really struggle to keep up in the week, and do sometimes feel guilty. We (I hope i can speak for others) would love ppl to just pop a little update on or a whinge, celebration or a funny story - please don't feel you have to be all over the thread to post. Popping in and out is just as valuable for all of us learning from other x

PoemsForTea · 12/01/2025 18:00

@slimhopes Hello and welcome x

NippyCrab · 12/01/2025 18:09

Aw yes definitely please just pop on as poems says, I love hearing everyone's chat because I'm kind of isolated apart from the mutts,
@Slimhopes fab loss and welcome to the thread xx

owlyboo · 12/01/2025 18:09

Oh thanks @4pink1blue 😊 a pound is a pound. Still heading in the right direction! You must feel like a different person being into the 13s now instead of the 19s!!

Well done on the loss @FlappingMadly

Hi @Slimhopes more than welcome here! 2lbs a week is fab! Well done on your losses!

@Blondeshavemorefun 'or they just don't like us' 😂 who knows statistically with diets a lot would have given up so I guess probably lost a few!

Agreed @PoemsForTea I like it when people randomly pop back in!

Weepixie · 12/01/2025 18:42

I posted on the original thread but life got in the way of being a regular poster. I do pop in and read daily though.

Progress wise I think I’m a bit of a slow loser and to date I’ve lost 15kgs mostly made up of a good first weeks loss and regular losses of 0.4kgs. I’m now on a 10m pen and have had a loss of 1kg each week for two weeks but the dose is making me feel so unwell for 3 days out of 7 that I’m going back down to 7.5 on my next dose. Oh and I’m really pleased that my weight loss never sts and I’ve not had any gains.

Im 9 kilos away from my final target of 85kgs and I’m not aiming for anything suggested by the usual BMI as I don’t think it takes individuality into account. I much prefer the smart bmi and it gave me 85kgs after my dr had suggested it and I’d agreed with him based on knowing myself.

I fully I tend to have my tummy and arms seen to after my weights been stable for 6 months and the weight of the skin removed will take me down another few kilos also. I’ll probably end up about 83 and I’ll be very happy with it. In fact I had pictures taken in a family day out two days ago and I can’t believe the difference in me already.

JoyousSwan · 12/01/2025 18:45

Hiya! I've been lacking focus since Xmas but went up to 10mg this week after staying at 7.5mg for an extra month. Wow! I can totally feel the difference! No side effects thankfully except getting me totally refocused back on my journey! The Xmas/new year gain has gone and I'm feeling motivated again!

Loving all the posts on here and enjoy catching up with how everyone is doing! So many nearing their targets! Keep going August starters :) I've still got plenty to go! Will try and post more often!

BettyandtheVets · 12/01/2025 18:53

Well maybe it’s time to say hellooo!

I have read every.single.post since I started on 21 August but just didn’t feel confident enough to post myself. And be assured - I love you all!!!!! Thank you all for being so honest about how things are going, the ups the downs, the general stuff life throws at us all.

i particularly love blondes typos haha! I have no idea how to quote names, sorry.

I’m a slow looser at 23lb to date, I try not to get jealous, but fail miserably in that. I try to remember that on any other diet I’d be delighted with that loss.

currently on 7.5mg.

DH worked out today that I’m 1/3 way there to being normal BMI, and that really cheered me up.

might never post again, as I get anxious about posting but thank you, thank you, thank you to you all for your honest posts about your own journeys.

owlyboo · 12/01/2025 19:00

Sounds like you're almost there @Weepixie well done!! Glad you feel and look different and are enjoying the changes you've made!!

Glad you've found your focus again @JoyousSwan

It's funny with bmi, I do see how it's a flawed system however I also think we're so used to seeing over weight people that also plays into it. Google says 'In England, the proportion of adults who are overweight or obese has been increasing since 1993. In 2022 to 2023, 64% of adults in England were estimated to be overweight or obese. This is higher for men than women (69.2% vs 58.6%), and is highest for people aged 55 to 64' which I think is quite shocking really if that's true? And I would say the bmi calculator is pretty accurate for me. I'm 4lbs away from being in the healthy range and am now a size 12. Which I would say is a healthy weight/size for my height but obviously if I lost more I would be a smaller size 8/10 and would still fall in that healthy range just be smaller. I think unless you have A LOT of muscle it's probably accurate ish!

Hi @BettyandtheVets well done on your losses being 1/3 way there is great! Hopefully you'll pop up again one day to tell us you reached target at least!!

I love your name - I have an image of you! Welcome back to the thread 🙂

FlappingMadly · 12/01/2025 19:44

Wow @weepixie 15kg doesn't seem.like slow losing to me! I'm jealous! I agree about bmi. I intend to have my tummy done too. Hoping my arms will be okay but who knows by then.

Hiya @JoyousSwan . Glad you've refound your focus. I'm slowly edging towards 10. and can feel a big difference with 9. Hopefully it isn't jinxing it by saying i don't have any bad side effects apart from being cold which might be due to peri m. Not sure. I've always been a warm person so it takes getting used to. Love my new bed heater though 😂

Lovely to hear from you @BettyandtheVets
There are benefits to losing slowly and anyway 23lb is a great loss!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2025 19:47

Everyone is welcome - we are a friendly thread and pop on to chat - moan or just read if fine

I reply enough for all 😂😂

@Weepixiethat a lb a week so normal and good

I’ve had think one gain after my 🤮🐻 bug and think 3 sts week after week which was hard and then maybe 2 more over the tome

but j didn’t gain any other time or over Xmas and I take that as a massive win !!!

I would love skin off my arms taken off. Sure that’s a stone between them 😂

swing

im still 2st + off my target

@BettyandtheVets welcome as well and I can now edit (smug) but I won’t my little typos as seem to make you all laugh

Welcome @Slimhopes and @BettyandtheVets and welcome back @Weepixie ! Sounds like you're all doing fabulously. We're all just keeping going in our own way and pace, which is pretty miraculous in itself. Like others have said, please don't feel you can't post if you don't respond to everything and everyone. I read and post fairly often because I don't talk about weight loss with anyone IRL, so it's quite comforting and motivating for me. But I'm not someone who can keep up with everything either! I think just commenting when you can or want to, or just reading along, is absolutely fine.

@Blondeshavemorefun There's a new January 20.5% code on the monj.co.uk page that lists discounts. You don't need to be a first time customer to use it.

Weepixie · 12/01/2025 19:49

Thank you Owlyboo. It’s just the bees knees knowing I’m closer to my target weight than I am to my start weight which was 109kgs. I’ve had to be so focussed because I’m actually someone who had a mini gastric bypass a few years ago that just never worked for me and it was either have a revision done after another surgeon I saw suggested he didn’t think it had been done properly, or try Mounjaro. I chose the latter because I’d had enough surgery for various things including cancer over the last 5 years and I’d had enough.

And re BMI - yes, I’m very muscular, I work out and I’m tall. I also have a big frame. It’s not manly, it’s athletic. My feet for example are a uk sized 10.

Im just so pleased I started the Mounjaro. I’m an older woman and my BP medication has already been reduced to 5mg per day and I’m off my medication for prediabetes.
