Crazy we have come this far

Heading to 5mths - that's almost half a year

We have all done so well.

Yes we have Christmas Day to come but remember that eating a meal and some yummy stuff isn't going to make us all gain the weight back

We have to have some treats or else what is the point in life

Saying we are never going to eat ...... again isn't sustainable

But having one /small portion of something we want is a good thing

We have learnt restraint !!!

I was very pleased with 2lb off today, meaning I've got rid of that pesky 1lb gain from last week and have managed a lb loss over the Christmas and new year fortnight. This is unheard of! Generally I'd be overeating all Christmas with the intention of starting yet another diet in the new year. I tended to do this even when I wasn't overweight. Last year I dieted all autumn, lost weight well, kept it up over Christmas and felt smug at managing to compensate for a reasonable level of indulgence, then blew it by new year through continuing to eat leftovers and never managing to stop with the bad carbs again till the summer.

I think with me, there's a certain point at which eating sugar/refined carbs/UPFs kicks in and I start to get the ravenous hunger and cravings. I know I need to avoid them 90% of the time, but I'm pleased that I could have a few sociable chocolates and stop before I got to that point this year. I don't know if I'd have managed it without MJ, but I'm just glad I managed it! I definitely found that once I'd started eating the odd bad (i.e. bad for me, not food-shaming!) thing, it was much easier to carry on than I thought it would be, so it did make me realise that MJ wasn't magically protecting me from these things.

There are obviously lots of opportunities for indulgence throughout the year, but I think Christmas is the really sustained period that tips me over the edge, so glad to have emerged largely unscathed. Now, I need to focus on losing another 4lb so I can have my first treat of some hedging plants.

I had a bad tummy ache during the night which I think is due to sharing popcorn with daughter at cinema yesterday. I put my bed heater on high and it helped a lot. 60g gain which doesn't sound a lot but is the start of a slippery slope so will really knuckle down next week. I jabbed 5mg plus 44 clicks which makes 8.5ish. Have a great weekend all!

Happy NY everyone. Here's to a fabulous 2025 and congratulations on getting through a tricky time of year for many. Just checking in as I am back from my holidays. Will catch up properly very soon. I don't plan to weigh for another week as it will get me down if I have gained. I am still on pen 2 of 10 mg. Just done my 1st dose. Not sure what to do next. Currently looking out for suppliers offering maintenance plans and am going to ask on the main thread about that. Best wishes to everyone ❤️

@Azuresky68 from what I gather and I've researched a bit and read a lot of threads but many won't take on if bmi is getting near 25

So need to think about who to use

It may be worthy ordering a new pen with a new one you are thinking of using

Med express have bene vetoed by me as only do for 2yr

Others like iq qns cloud don't have a limit but

Most won't do maintenance /stop when bmi is 22/23

As that would take me to 10.1 - very unlikely to Happen with me 😂

But I was re reading aug 1 earlier and many names on there that never post now.

wondered if they stopped due to getting to getting to goal weight or due to cost or just gave up etx

@owlyboo my former son-in-law was like your ex. When he and dd first split up he saw my dgc 4 times a week - twice after school, one day on a weekend (not overnight) and once to drop them at hobbies/clubs. That seemed to work really well for the dc. When exS-I-L got together with new person they wanted to have whole weekends free so the dc stay every second weekend. He also moved house so it's not possible to see the dc midweek unless he takes them out for a big mac (too far to take them to his house and back home). He's just made his own selfish decisions, not thought about what is best for his dc. And my dd is left with all the load plus dc who miss their dad. exS-I-L and his new partner think he pays way too much and that he is being generous offering to pay for clubs/activities on the days he does see them. Makes me furious. And I used to like him so much.

I'm one pound down today. That's fine as it's still been a sociable week - meal out at friend's, family back home, and dh still in the festive eating mode. Now all visitors have left, I think everything challenging has been eaten, will make a big batch of soup with the remaining veg.

I need to titrate back up the doses. I'd been unwell on 5mg in the week before Christmas (had to cancel an invitation for friends to come for lunch as I couldn't bear to shop or cook, let alone eat). So I dropped back to 2.5mg for the whole Christmas period. I think I'm going up to 3.3mg for next week (40 clicks) and see how it goes.

@20bloodypounds unfortunately I think a lot of men seem to be able to do it, completely detach from their former life and live their new normal and for some reason 'some' people seem to just celebrate the little they actually do just simply because they're men and fathers rather than mothers. It's just expected a mum will always be there for their child and devote all their time to them but a father he simply shows up for the minimum and he is patted on the back. I also place blame with the new partners. I can't understand how you can simply accept that this 'amazing' man you have fallen in love with barely sees his kids and you don't call him up on it. It would be a major red flag for me. But then I also wouldn't have an affair with a married man so we're probably not on the same wave length 😂

@Blondeshavemorefun here's hoping! I will genuinely be okay with a sts as will see that as a major win over the whole festive period. I also agree that once you're down to near ish goal I wouldn't mess around swapping to much as there's no guarantee if if places say they will accept doesn't mean they will if they're low on doses and would rather take on others who will be on it longer.

@owlyboo yeah, I also have a sister in law who is with a man who already had dc. She never seemed to like them much, told the family stories about how badly behaved they were, and mostly went out if his dc were around. My dh (who is stepdad to my dc) was apalled. He loves my dc as if they were his own. And if he'd behaved like his sister around my dc he'd not have lasted a week!
