Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

I’ve had my order prescribed 🤗

KrankySchwester · 09/01/2025 14:08

Today is day 4 (of week one) and apart from the nausea I haven’t had any side effects. And until an hour ago no hunger either. But now I am ragingly hungry. Or rather my stomach is hungry, my head isn’t if that makes sense?

4.8lb down

Cabinfever20 · 09/01/2025 14:35

Hi everyone. My first weigh in today and 2nd jab. It was easier this time as I positioned the pen so I could see the dosage window moving from 1 to 0 which I couldn't see last time and thought I had done something wrong. I have lost 4lb which I'm very pleased about. The suppression wore off a little bit by day 5 but not enough to cause a problem - I just thought about food a little more but not tempted enough to eat anything. I've never felt like this before when trying to lose weight. Usually as soon as the thought of food pops into my mind I act on it! Well done to all of you.

Bucket07 · 09/01/2025 14:46

It's lovely to hear all the positive stories but curious whether anyone is in the same boat as me and hasn't experienced any suppression after the first jab? I'm not too worried as hopefully going up a dose will help, but am a bit disappointed that 2.5 hasn't had any impact!

Randomusernameforcode · 09/01/2025 16:18

@KrankySchwester Yes that totally makes sense!
I was physically really hungry yesterday evening before I ate. Stomach growling loudly, but in my mind I wasn't really fussed about eating. If it wasn't for the physical impact my brain wouldn't have told me I was hungry.

I haven't started yet but my provider did say it can be normal on the starter dose to not feel much different- not sure how that relates to people's experiences.

fudge77 · 09/01/2025 16:37

Hi, can I join you all please?
I did my first injection of mounjaro on Monday evening and I have 3 to 3 1/2 stone to lose.
Side effects not too bad, felt a bit sick and tummy off but I have IBS anyway and I’m really tired but I usually am anyway as I’m in peri menopause! I don’t really know what food suppression feels like but from some of the things people have said I think I feel the same in that I think I feel hungry but then when I look at food I’m not that hungry! We still have lots of chocolates left over from Christmas and I’m not that bothered by it, whereas before I’d grab the chocolate and stuff my face. It’s like there’s a new voice in my head saying ‘no you don’t need to constantly eat’ and the greedy voice has silenced!
Its all very alien to me this feeling but I’m liking it!
Good luck to everyone on their journey.

ThisisnotwhatIhadplanned · 09/01/2025 16:39

Another reminder to myself to measure as well as weigh.

Week 1-lost 2.7kgs, waist 118cm
Week 2-gained 1.3kgs, waist 100cm.

so despite gaining this week I have lost 18cm off my waist in total. Feeling really sick today, but have had flu since before New Year and can’t shift it because I can’t slow down and rest (2 high needs DD’s and three pets), so it might be that. This time last week I was absolutely ravenous, but couldn’t care less about food today. Due Jab 3 tomorrow.

Fingers crossed the losses will start once I go up to 5mg, as I’m getting really jealous of you guys seeing the scales move!

littlepammie70 · 09/01/2025 17:26

My pen is in the fridge but I have decided not to start until Sunday as I’ve had two funerals this week. I do suffer from constipation so was hoping you lovely people can give me some suggestions what to put on my shopping list tomorrow. Thought I read about flax seeds??! but I can’t find the post.

Couldn't stay off those scales....
Weigh in after 1 week = 8lb off.
SW 20st5lb
CW 19st11
GW 12st 5lb
Height 5'10

I've eaten 1500 cals or less a day and done some kettle bell exercises every other day. I've drunk 2-2.5l water a day. Been a bit constipated but nothing major.

Jab 2 about to go in.
My main side effects have been feeling really tired, very thirsty slightly, slight constipation and achey muscles on first few days.
I also ate a few bites of my son's cheese on toast yesterday and got really sore and tender tummy. It was my first ingestion of.cheese since being on the jab and clearly didn't sit well so will be avoiding cheese from now on 😭
Generally though I've been feeling really positive, fuller faster (like on half or even a third of my usual meal size), and my sugar cravings totally gone. I have felt hungry on and off since day 4 but nothing major at all. I've tended to eat all 3 meals including an early dinner and then had Skyr and 30g granola with 20g Flax as an evening snack if I'm still feeling hungry.

Edited to add Target weight and height

Flax seed work for me, a spoonful on porridge, in yogurt, protein drink.

katem98 · 09/01/2025 17:48

@littlepammie70 Maybe some oranges/ prunes? Or strong black coffee?Grin

katem98 · 09/01/2025 17:49

I stepped on the scales today and 6lbs loss since Sunday... obviously I'm assuming most of this is water. I'm trying to eat less than 1000/1200 or less a day. Is this too restrictive?

cloudjumper · 09/01/2025 18:28

@katem98 that is really quite low... you might start to struggle with low energy etc. have you used one of the calorie calculators to figure out your calorie deficit? It's different for everyone! I'm aiming for about 1500 cals/day, and while I struggle to hit this due to the suppression, I need to make sure I can function.

I'm on the same amount of calories. It's not too restrictive as long as you're meeting your nutritional needs with balanced meals. If you're struggling, you can up it slightly some days or take supplements for short term weight loss.

VelvetWildflower · 09/01/2025 18:52

I've been feeling quite weak and faint so had a big dinner today and ended up going over my calories today by about 400. It'll average out throughout the week so I'm not worried but it's surprising how uncomfortably full I feel after that large meal (with bread) now.

katem98 · 09/01/2025 18:52

@cloudjumper I've not massively noticed any more lack of energy than usually. I am suffering with the flu at the moment so have kind of put it down to that!

@VelvetWildflower That's good to know - thank you. Definitely more balanced than what I'm used to. I've never been a breakfast eater so that helps I think!

JoJothegerbil · 09/01/2025 19:07

My 2.5mg pen is finally due to arrive tomorrow. I have a couple of foodie weekends coming up; night away in a hotel with DH next Saturday then a fancy three course charity lunch the week after. I can't decide whether to just go for it or wait for 2 weeks.

I took Wegovy last year for a couple of months unsuccessfully as I was really ill on the second strength pen with horrendous diarrhoea. I don't want that to happen again hence thinking I might wait. On the other hand I'm impatient to start tackling the flab!

Abby8989 · 09/01/2025 19:12

Hi, if you were injecting for the first time, on an evening, would you inject before or after something (light) to eat, thanks

DGonMJ · 09/01/2025 19:15

Similar boat @BruhWhy in that I’m officially in the obese BMI category (or I was) but with no medical issues, all my blood tests came back in normal range. But I have risks as my parents are T2 and pre-diabetic with high BP. Decided I didn’t want to wait till I got there with T2, high cholesterol or BP and wanted to do something now to shift the weight. I’m still in week 1 (day 5) and I feel so much better already.

Josephi · 09/01/2025 19:49

My first one done. I injected 1.25 mg.

stilllovingmysleep · 09/01/2025 20:02

Just found out mine have been shipped too so imagine will arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

As others asked, apart from drinking lots of water anything else to keep in mind when starting? Eg have after food or on an empty stomach?

TheCatsBlanket · 09/01/2025 20:02

I've been watching and enjoying this thread since my first injection on 1st January, I’ve had no side effects that I can contribute to Mounjaro.
I definitely feel slimmer and my desire to eat massive portions has gone…for the first time in my life I’m actually leaving food on the plate.
I take the injection every Wednesday at 6pm when I get home from work.

If I’m honest, I was a bit disappointed with just a 2lb loss this morning, as I was sure I’d dropped at least 4 or 5, but I know for certain I’m losing fat as my bosoms are now not spilling out of my bra and my jeans are not as tourniquet-like as they were over Xmas. I wish I’d taken measurements beforehand, maybe I will tonight

The difference to me is, previously if I’d been on a slimming World or weight watchers plan and only lost 2lbs on week one, I’d have said “sod it, I’m off for a binge if all my hard work only managed to lose a little weight”, but Mounjaro has helped me ignore all longing and desire for food so far, and I’m carrying on.

Oh how I wish this magic drug had been available years ago

YourMerryLemonWasp · 09/01/2025 20:25

First jab done around 5pm today - well done everyone on weight loss! Feel slightly sick/headache but this could be my imagination as am a massive worrier!

Pandora71 · 09/01/2025 20:32

SW 160lbs / 11st 6lbs
CW 158lbs / 11st 4lbs
GW 130lbs / 9st 4lbs
W1: 1.25ml MJ

It’s day 5 for me and I’m doing well. I decided to ease in very slowly on a half starter dose, partly because I’m fairly small and so I was worried about dosage and partly because I am not in a rush to make progress. I’m glad I did. I’ve had minimal side effects as long as I don’t eat anything very high in fat. The suppression isn’t huge but that’s what I wanted, just enough to take the edge off so I stop overeating. I’m probably managing 1200 calories a day. I don’t get hungry but when I do eat it isn’t a struggle to consume. I have mostly dropped sugar altogether, which is a revolution. I had already dialled down my eating post Christmas so the water weight should have already levelled out before I started MJ, so I’m expecting this is “real” loss. I haven’t seen 15x on the scales for a long time.

Today I had
breakfast - one banana
lunch - half a chicken sandwich on granary bread and a banana (forgot I’d had one earlier!). A quarter slice of cake.
Snack - hot chocolate with full fat milk
Dinner - one chicken breast and a very small amount of pasta with veg, one small madaline, one tin of fizzy rubicon
An hour of cycling for exercise

it’s Day 5 so this is more than I’d be having earlier in the week

I have managed to keep my energy levels up and able to do my usual high activity lifestyle. If I can keep this up and lose slowly I’ll be really happy! Tbh 2lbs actually feels like a lot for one week. I’m going to stick at the very low dose until I have two successive weeks of not losing any weight and that’ll be my trigger to up the dose.

I’m excited to see the amazing progress by some and to others who haven’t had the immediate effect, I’d encourage you to focus on the long term… this isn’t a race and it is likely MJ will work for you in time. We all respond differently - park that disappointment and use your energy to focus on the other lifestyle changes you need to sustain this for the long run while the MJ ramps up.
