Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

@SilentMind
I'm the same- due to take my third jab on Friday. No side effects with the first however some with the second. I'm considering staying on 2.5 as well. I'm not hungry in the day though can eat. It's hard to know what to do!

@FatGirlDosing is the deal with medexpress? I've just done my second jab and need to order the next pen. Don't want to miss out on a deal if there's one to be had! 😁

No - I’m with Phlo

@FattyBumBumNoMorehave you received your tracking number or order yet? I’ve had no update at from Zava since it was approved. Tempted to call them but they did give a timeframe up until 10th for it to arrive. Don’t want to appear too desperate!

unicornsaremagical · 08/01/2025 06:39

Hi everyone, just ordered my first mounjaro pen! Starting weight at 14stone11 at only 5’6 aiming to get to my pre birth weight of 10stone. Has anyone who has already started got any tips? i’m really nervous and have been debating this for months.

IdentityCrisis101 · 08/01/2025 06:40

Weigh day and jab day for me today.

SW 14stone 11 3/4 lbs
CW 14 Stone 4 1/4
Total lost 7.5 lbs

Very happy with this!

ETA - today is my second jab and first weigh in.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 08/01/2025 07:05

That's week 1 done
SW 223.8
CW 217.4
GW 140
6.4lb loss for week 1, I'm pleased with that. Still having diarrhea but not sick again. Hopefully the 2nd jab doesn't make me nauseous at the beginning again!

DH and I have just watched this :

It is a guy looking at the science behind GLP-1s. DH wasn’t really aware of all the evidence that is starting to come through so to have someone pull it together was really good. It is an hour long and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but well worth a watch I feel.

We hear a lot about the importance of resistance training to offset the loss of muscle that comes with it and he went into that explaining that those who do it whilst using Mounjaro lose a bit slower but do significantly better with weight regain when they come off. I haven’t been to the gym for huge amounts of years so need to think about it all. It did motivate me to find some that are around and have a quick go!

I’m so glad they keep the referral codes on one thread now. I think the pharmacies that do them are very shortsighted and the use of these codes have contributed to some of the negative media on WLI. Not adverse to discount codes but the referral aspect puts a whole different spin on it. The price comparison site is really helpful and very grateful to whoever started that one.

I've skim watched (!) it. I missed where he said about his alternate micro dosing schedule and why though - was that in there?

Saw what he said about muscle retention though. And that makes a lot of sense. I have no idea where to start (might make another thread) as I'm fairly sedentary and not quite sure which muscles we have/how I'd make sure I'd got them all. For now I'm trying to walk as I have no stamina but aware that's not muscle strength. I have v little strength as it is so don't want that to get worse!

Amazing all the other benefits it has too!! Made me wonder if he was micro dosing them for the benefits too!

Also noticed he's not talking MJ is he but the one before so there may be some differences again.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/01/2025 07:42

And more relevant who is he??

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 08/01/2025 07:43

Lowers cholesterol, blood pressure, reduced risk from heart failure... So many benefits

Seaitoverthere · 08/01/2025 07:55

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden he said he is a doctor and scientist in South Africa. Some of the studies he referred to weren’t Mounjaro but the gist was that you can expect the same as the same mechanisms come into play.

He didn’t say what the micro dosing regime was or if he does. I ignored that bit and just found how it works on various parts of the body really interesting to see it all laid out that way. DH has a scientific background and thought it was really informative though. It is a bit dry but worth it I felt.

@JoJothegerbil nope, nothing yet. We’re obviously on the same timeline as my delivery timeframe is up to Friday 10th too. When it was approved over the weekend, I was hopeful to have it earlier. Will keep you posted if I hear anything.

does anyone eise inject in the top of their arm?

I watched most of it and thought it was fascinating and really interesting. I was just curious to further find out more from him so wondered where you'd found it!

And yes although I won't retain all the info to see the studies showing how it helps not just through weight loss was fab. And yes the importance of strength training will be my main takeaway. Realistically Im over 20atone so the strength training may not be just yet/or will increase slowly but over my year j will see how important it is.

Thankyou so much for sharing.

Seaitoverthere · 08/01/2025 08:35

Pleased you found it helpful @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden ! Someone linked it in the Oushk Facebook group.

I haven’t done any weights for so many years I can’t remember how many it is 😀 However I have used resistance bands for physio and I think they are good and can contribute to building muscle, and I haven’t looked but guess there is loads on YouTube - would maybe a pack of them help for you ? Think I will look as feel I should be using them alongside the few hand weights we have and I think there are a couple of kettlebells somewhere.

Last July I had to use 2 walking sticks to move and had been getting worse and worse for ages so lost a lot of muscle before my operation and have gone into this with a much lower amount of muscle than I used to have and really need to work on it now I can walk again.

I'd like to but don't think I can quite twist around to do it myself.

cloudjumper · 08/01/2025 08:55

So 1 week in, and I've lost 2.3 kg/5 lb. I'll take that! Crossing everything that I'll stay on this trajectory.

Yey! Well done 👍 👏👏

MissPobjoysPonies · 08/01/2025 09:03

I was coming in to say that having maintained my first week I look like I’m in track to have lost 1kg + this week.

I lost the water weight the week before I started due to stress but in total since that week I’ve now lost 7.2lbs or 3kg+ and it’s not even weigh day until Friday!

So as a long time dieter I’m delighted. I’ve bought through Medexpress and have a code I can PM to anyone who might want to try it out 😀

Jjsmum2007 · 08/01/2025 09:10

Ordered 1st January from medexpress, chased it 6th January, got dispatch email this morning 8th and delivery due 10th Jan. Looking forward to starting immediately fingers crossed no side effects ☝️
Starting weight 12 st 6
Hoping to get down to 10st.
Also Teamrh member, will be doing regular exercise with weights and trying to achieve 10k steps a day which will be hard as I have a desk job! 😭

Welcome @unicornsaremagical ! Glad you're joining us!

I'm one week in, and from my experience, the main thing I would recommend is to really watch your water intake and make absolutely sure you have at least 2L a day, or more. And, ironically, making sure you do eat enough! Depending on your level of suppression, you might find that you have to remind yourself to eat/eat sufficiently to be able to function. I find that tracking my meals really helps with that.
I'd also recommend watching out for early signs of constipation, and have counter-measures at hand before it gets bad 😆

Grecianrainbow · 08/01/2025 10:04

@unicornsaremagical I’m 5’6 with a goal of 10st too ( although I haven’t been that weight for about 16yrs so not sure if it’s realistic). I started at 14st 7 last week. Next jab tomorrow- I’m a mix of excited and nervous over any side effects from dose 2!

bluebee17 · 08/01/2025 10:29

Has anyone actually received their pen yet from Medexpress? Ordered on the 2nd of January said it was dispatched but look at the Royal mail tracker and they haven't even received it yet. Starting to get a little peed off now. surely if there's delays, they should tell you at the time of order so you can go else where. Thanks

I've had mine, from reading reviews it seems this isn't that uncommon- i agree they should advise if there's a delay.
