Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

There's another thread on here about maintenance plans, with different responses from different suppliers about how they provide it. Have a search, it makes an interesting read, and i am also thinking about switching for my second pen.

Hello again everyone. It's so good to hear everyone's progress and welcome some new starters too!

Yesterday was jab day 2 and my stats were:
Sw: 31.12.24 221lbs
Cw: 7.1.24 216
Gw: 130lbs (may change)

Currently loss is 5lbs. Really excited by that number. Aware it's probably still water weight but happy to see a downward trajectory.

Definitely felt the hunger returning from Saturday onwards so hoping that as I progress on the jabs and up the dose that the appetite suppressant effect is still there. Although interestingly i was still able to stick to my goals so perhaps liquid willpower is a great description.

As far as the second jab went, it was easy and no weird side effects of pains this time. Hard to say about appetite and side effects today as I woke up with a migraine, but again this is normal for me so can't say if it's MJ or not.

Looking forward to the week ahead.

Hi just thought I'd share again my experience so far for any new starters that might find it helpful.

I'm jabbing on a Monday and have done my second jab this week. 1st one I did in my thigh and 2nd one stomach. Not noticed any difference using the different sites.

1st week I had little to no side effects apart from horrendous stomach pains which woke me up on day 3 and lasted several hours. Turned out to be trapped wind and being more backed up than usual! (I usually "go" a few times a day but had not been at all).

Suppression for me so far has fluctuated between being really high and moderate. I'm tracking kcals and have very easily stayed under my daily limit. It's helping me be much more considered about the food I am eating.

First week weigh in I'd lost 3lb. I have 3 stones to shift in total.

I've just ordered my second pen and gone for a 5mg. I am not yet decided if I'll move up when the time comes or not but for the same price went with the higher dose pen. Im planning to try use the bonus dose from my existing pen when I get there.

Top tips so far.. Drink!! Drink as much water as possible. Im having at least 2.5l daily and I do wonder if that is contributing to limited side effects.

If suppression is high, try make the effort to eat still as although you might not feel hunger you can still feel the effects of being hungry. Less energy etc.

Download the shotsy app. You can log all your weight, jabs, dose, symptoms etc and it will give you an estimate as to how much is in your system still and as time goes on will track your weight loss on a graph.

Very early days for me but so far so good! Only thing that's frustrating me is that I didn't wake up slim the day after the first jab! 😂

My order says 'done' but still no tracking and no email from Royal Mail either. It's got to be dispatched tomorrow to be here by Friday. Think I'll call them tomorrow.

My tracking information has just come through and it’s being delivered tomorrow. If it helps, I ordered mine Friday late afternoon, doctor approved on the Saturday - hopefully you’re not far behind me!

user1471600203 · 08/01/2025 20:58

Mine has arrived! Feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension. I’m debating on whether to start immediately (but have a very long day at work tomorrow, 8-7:30), or wait until Sunday/ Monday as I’d like to have a ‘treat’ meal with the kids at the weekend. I’ve also started HRT last week, so thinking of giving that a few more days to settle in? Thinking out loud here! 😂

RosaBaby2 · 08/01/2025 21:24

Week 2 day 5 and I'm thinking about food a lot I feel like I want to eat lots but am still managing to not do it.

Having 100-120g protein daily and averaging about 1100 cals through the week.

MartMJ · 08/01/2025 22:10

I had my first injection 2 hours ago. I barely felt it but im obsessing over side effects and when they'll hit me. Very excited about the journey ahead though! Good look to everyone 💪💪💪💪

I’ve placed my order! I’m really apprehensive about taking it. Has anyone’s GP found out from the prescriber that you’re taking it and not been ok about it? Medexpress are writing to my gp for info.

also if you have a blue light card it’s 35% off Medexpress just now

Thanks for the blue light tip. Do you know if you can use this alongside a £40 referral code?

Going to bed hungry tonight for the second night in a row. Mounjaro seems to work well all day and then the hunger kicks in at bed time (and the insomnia).

Not giving in and waiting for the morning to have some breakfast but this feels hard right now so I thought I'd post for anyone in the same situation to know they're not alone.

katem98 · 08/01/2025 23:44

@VelvetWildflower This is exactly the same as me. Starving and usually asleep by 10pm latest...

Since Mounjaro it's rare if I'm asleep before 2:30 and I'm a usual 11pm kind of woman. That's the worst side effect so far as I have an 8 month old baby

Usernamesarenoteasy · 09/01/2025 06:13

Week one on Mounjaro Completed! Today is Jab 2, which I will take this evening, like last week.
Side effects so far
Day 1/Day 2 - metallic taste in mouth, went after this.
Day 3 - Severe headache which stopped me doing pretty much anything
Day 6/Day 7 - Constipation/trapped wind, but also on my period and always get this so may not be the mj.
Overall I was expecting much worse!
Didn't have time to measure waist, hips etc this morning so shall also do this evening, but I did weigh myself 😊

Stats Time
SW - 214.3lbs
CW - 204.5lbs (9.8lbs loss after just one week!)
GW - 168lbs

Thelittlestranger · 09/01/2025 06:56

@Usernamesarenoteasy fab loss, that must feel very motivating!

I had heartburn last night after eating icing on a piece of Xmas cake. Not the small amount of icing I've had previously - it was still small, but it wasn't tiny. Lesson learnt, as unlike 'usual' heartburn this did not go with a few gaviscon.

Day 5, week 2 - I've not had breakfast and had Huel for lunch every day this week apart from yesterday. Its so easy for work, and previously I've not 'fancied' it, but now it does the job. Also has loads of protein, all the vitamins and tastes pretty good. It doesn't tick the unprocessed part, but I'm letting that go for now.

I don't feel full like the first week. I don't feel hungry. At all. If I ate, I could probably eat all the things. I'm just not and finding it easy to make that choice.

I've found going to bed hungry makes the insomnia worse. I'm having a few nuts or other protein and a dried apricot before bed, that seems to help.

My insomnia is more the menopausal type though so different to yours - I can get to sleep, I just wake up very early i.e. 3 or 4 am.

OneEdgyAzureBee · 09/01/2025 07:20

Hello, just done the first injection of Monjurao 2.5. As others have said I’m waiting for side effects, a little pain around injection site but that’s it at the moment.

What’s feeling really weird is that I’ve not told my husband I’m doing it. I know he’d say I don’t need to and he hates the idea of needles so wouldn’t understand. He’s so loving and supportive, but he doesn’t know the effect being overweight my whole life has had on me. The amount of pain and embarrassment and lots of diets never fully shifting weight, always being bigger than my friends. I’m really doing this for myself and I’m excited for the health and confidence benefits but hate not sharing it with him. Anyone been in a similar position?

Usernamesarenoteasy · 09/01/2025 07:30

@Thelittlestranger Thank you! Yes! I am totally shocked to be honest, I can definitely see a difference in my face but wasn't expecting it to be that much. Definitely interested to see my measurements later on

I wasn't sure whether to share but did in the end as he would have seen it in the fridge. I waited until after I'd jabbed though.
He tells his mum everything. I've asked him not to so we shall see.

I struggled with sleep last night, I woke at some point in the night but this can also be fairly normal for me (perimenopause) so it's difficult to tell

Wow! Incredible weight loss.
Thank you for sharing symptoms, I've been trying to find a bit of a timeline but couldn't find one.
I jabbed midday yesterday and ate normally yesterday.
I had a bit of a headache last night but this is not uncommon for me and not great sleep also fairly common for me. So so far no effects at all.
I haven't packed my lunch for the office and didn't sort breakfast either I will pick up something whilst out. I wonder if I can get huel at a mini supermarket in the city?
I struggle with indigestion with oats normally so thought I better give them a miss so that's my usual go to breakfast/ lunch out.

I thought that, I've got an upcoming holiday too and didn't fancy taking the pen so if I had done Sunday I needn't have taken it. I also debated waiting until after holiday.
In the end I went for it yesterday, what will be will be. I had no suppression yesterday, this morning I don't fancy breakfast, but I never do and just force myself to eat so I don't overeat later. No I'll effects from eating normally (quite a lot) in the evening.
HRT will take a few weeks so don't delay for this.
Good luck!

Seaitoverthere · 09/01/2025 07:45

@Usernamesarenoteasy great loss!

I had the being being really starving going to bed and waking up the same on about day 3 and felt really miserable at the time. That stopped after a day or two and now I am finding it really good.

Much less hungry, getting full after a sensible amount of food which has never happened in my whole life. I think this is how it is for DH having watched him for years. Food has lost its importance and I am more drawn to healthier choices currently. My cousin started this week and very quickly had an upset stomach and couldn’t sleep but sounds as if it is starting to settle.

3rd jab due tomorrow. I am aiming for 1.5lbs a week at the moment so working my food out to do that so hopefully tomorrow I will have lost 3lbs in total over the 2 weeks which I look on track for as long as scales don’t do anything horrible tomorrow, I’m not going to be a fast loser,

I’m 55 now but if it helps me to be consistent and this lovely feeling of being not fussed about food continues it is worth it plus I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma and fatty liver disease so am hoping it will help them which I know weight loss will do but the science is suggesting the GLP-1s have additional benefits for these.

UnderandOverwhelmed · 09/01/2025 07:46

Jab 2 day 2 and the sulphur burbs and nausea are back 😢. Feel like I'm going to be sick, which is what happened on day 2 last week. Anyone else had this and it's stopped happening every week? I don't think i can feel like this on a regular basis 😕

Yes me too I'm a good sleeper but I lay there for ages my brain can't switch off, I usually drink tea after the little one is in bed but I have stopped and it's helped a little.
