I have been going up and down the same 3 pounds for a few weeks so have finally up-ed my dose to 7.5mg after months on 5mg. This has got things moving again. I don't mind having not moved for a while. I feel like it might have given the horrible flappy skin on my tummy a bit of time to catch up. I am now 6lbs from goal. I feel very nervous about this for some reason. MJ has been a good friend to me and I am happy to continue for the time being on a maintenance dose but I'm not sure how to go about this. I think someone mentioned Cloud so will take a look. The posts on Ouschk (or however you spell it) on FB make me quite nauseous! Has anyone explored maintenance yet or started?

In other NSV I no longer have high cholesterol and am in the normal range. Yay!

I haven't taken many photos to log my losses but looked at my starting photo this week and compared it to now and was so shocked at how big I'd got.

SpiderMother · 01/03/2025 12:12

@Tipster100 i am very close to my goal now. I switched to Oushk and I’ve been really pleased with the support on maintenance. I’m staying on mj for now, I am really scared about maintenance and didn’t want to do it alone. I had a maintenance consultation and the advice for me was to maintain with mj first and once you adapt to what that looks like think about titrating down. That makes sense to me.

Morning everyone, is anyone else finding this bit hard? I have lost a 1lb this week, taking my total to 4st 6lb. It's really slowed down since hitting an overweight bmi instead of obese.

One part of me thinks great it's time for it to slow down, but another was loving the highs of the bigger weekly weight loses. I know I am being ridiculous, I was on a holiday last week, drank and ate what I wanted and still across feb I have lost about 3lbs total.

I know what you mean, it seems strangely stressful/tiring to have come quite a long way but not actually be that close to goal. I have lost the same as you (4.5 stone), and am at the very top of normal weight now with bmi of 25.25, but still have around 2 stone to go to reach the middle of healthy bmi for my height, and I still have a big fat belly to get rid of so I know this current weight is not right for me! I've had to buy some new clothes as I didn't fit into the old ones anymore, got them from Vinted so it didn't cost the earth but it feels wasteful as they are now getting a bit too big so will need to get new ones when I finally reach goal weight. When I look at the graph the weight loss is still good, roughly 1 to 1.3kg per week, so just need to keep at it and hope the good new habits stay once I reach goal and start thinking about coming off or some sort of maintenance. It doesn't help me that people comment things like "don't lose anything more weight, you will get too thin" as I clearly have not got too thin, I'm just not obese anymore! I'm not sure if this helps but you are not alone!

sylv165 · 01/03/2025 14:15

@Tipster100 i am now 8lbs away from my initial goal. I think I will go a little lower as that is only just at the top of a normal BMI, but am definitely starting to look towards maintenance. I’ve decided that I want to stay on a low dose of MJ until September at least, as that will be a full year. I’ll decide after that what to do next. I’ve been exercising and trying to build up muscle and a good routine around that to hopefully help me.

I’ve been with Oushk for a while now and will stick with them - I’ve never been on their FB and I have heard it is a bit like a cult, so I’ll be staying well clear of that 🤣

RelishingGrpSupport · 01/03/2025 15:40

Hey Tipster100

Great news! Interested to see you are in the right zone for cholesterol too. What with your BMI being so much better and that, you can expect to do well on any Health MoT if you get those from the GP.

I have BMI sub 25, best BP ever, good result on blood sugar but was a bit over for my cholesterol probably because I like to I eat low carb but have been liberal in enjoying cheeses and sour cream. I'll have see what cutting down does.

85reasons · 01/03/2025 15:59

Another one getting close to goal but with v slow losses now. Averaging 3lb a month, about 10lb to go, have just hit the normal BMI range..! This is my lightest weight since I was about 23 although I did get to this point about 3 years ago (and didn’t manage to stay here for long).

I’ve been with Oushk off and on for about six months but am now on their maintenance plan. I’m also about to order from Medicine Marketplace as their higher dose pens are still cheaper, so am flip flopping a bit between providers where it’s attractive to do so price wise. Just steer clear of the FB group (although the offshoot maintenance one is much better) and Oushk are a great provider.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying easing off any sense of being on a punitive diet but feel like I should up my game a bit now to focus on strength building and maintenance.

jupiterhigh · 01/03/2025 17:26

@CountingSleepySheep yes the comments! Yesterday someone said they wouldn't be trying to lose weight if they were my size, my bmi is 29.something, I still have a way to go.

mimosa1 · 01/03/2025 21:54

Hi everyone, I'm in a really similar boat, hovering around the top of a healthy weight and bouncing up and down.

I a very slow looser too, after the initial rush, at roughly 1 to 1.5kg a month but I've been v sensitive to the side effects so still on 2.5mg. I have another 7kg to go so I could be here a while!!!

OvaHere · 02/03/2025 10:25

I've made the decision to stop after this pen (3 doses left). I should be around the 10 stone mark by then from a starting weight of 14.6. It's a few pounds short of my starting goal but that goal wasn't based on anything but me plucking a number out of thin air.

I'm happy with where I am now and if I lose much more I think I'll look a bit gaunt. I want to finish at a weight I feel is sustainable for a woman going in to her 50s.

Not sure how it's going to go. I'm nervous and really hoping I won't suddenly morph into a biscuit monster. After 6 months I do have a better grasp on why I was overweight but understandably worried about not having a helping hand.

I'm not ruling out being one of those people who needs a low maintenance dose but I have to try going alone for a while for curiosities sake and because I'd rather not have the expense if I don't have to.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 02/03/2025 12:00

I haven't posted for a while, but have been lurking. Everyone's progress is amazing! I am a slow looser, about a 1lb a week, which I am comfortable with. I have next to no side effects, so I am really lucky.

I am starting to keep a record of non-scale victories now, as I have had a few which I am really pleased about:

  • 6 inches off my waist. I will need a new belt soon :)
  • I recently did an 8 mile walk, and felt absolutely fine the following day. Normally I would have been wrecked with aches and pains.
  • I have clearly lost weight on my face as my glasses have started to fall off when I bend over!
  • I am really starting to understand why I eat when I am not hungry, and I hope this knowledge will set me up well for maintenance.

I still have a long way to go, but am feeling pretty positive about the weightloss.

Happy Sunday all.

Tipster100 · 02/03/2025 16:19

Thanks for the feedback re Oushk. I will sign up with them tomorrow and book a maintenance consultation for end of April. I definitely think guidance is a good thing and I'm not ready to come off yet - the summer holidays worry me. School holidays are where my routine goes out the window and having everyone at home (including dp) whilst trying to work and be fun etc is so exhausting and therefore makes me want to eat!! Does anyone else feel the same way? What are your danger areas?

In other news, I am getting told I look so "WELL" (the word "well" being stretched out to take at least ten seconds to come out of their mouth) about 5 times a day. This appears to be the polite way of saying you've lost weight. I'm worried that no one is asking me any more than that because they saw on FB that I was following Oushk - pls tell me if you follow their FB page it doesn't tell all your friends??? I haven't told anyone about MJ.

drowningbutwaving · 02/03/2025 18:42

Haven't been keeping up with the thread regularly but good to see some positive stories.

Week 26...

SW 107kg
CW 87kg

Not sure what my goal weight is yet. I've been losing fairly consistently. Increased to 6.25mg this week. I moved up to 5mg after my first pen, but suffered with terrible heartburn and constipation so dropped back to 2.5mg for another pen. Did 5 weeks at 3.75mg then back to 5mg which has been ok this time round. 8 weeks of 5mg and decided rather than trying to jump straight to 7.5mg as I feel really nervous about suffering again. Friday is my jab day and definitely noticing the suppression today.

@InfoSecInTheCity - that's Ana amazing achievement you should be really proud of yourself! Have you been following any particular approach in terms of healthy eating and exercise?

MandarinDentistTiger · 03/03/2025 12:13

0.2lbs off so basically stayed the same this week. I will be more vigilant in tracking on My Fitness Pal.

I do better if I stick to ready meals and the same things. It is easier to control calories and get protein that way.

Re NSV's:

I'm on holiday and noticed in the buffet restaurant that I go up once, and take what I need, eat it and finish. I have a much, much better idea of what is a suitable portion. And I only put on my plate what I really want to eat. So no random pasta dish. If I want paella, I'll choose that. No need for additional chips or a portion of lasagne (just because it looked nice).

Previously, I might have dieted furiously for 6 weeks before the holiday, utterly indulged myself on holiday (getting my money's worth from the buffet). Would have put on half a stone and hated myself.

FlatStanley50 · 03/03/2025 15:21

Sounds like a few of us are close to goal weight now. My BMI is now 23.3 (from 30). I just tried to order my next 7.5 pen (I would like to lose another half stone to get down to BMI 21.5), and Medexpress say that as I am now a healthy weight they will only prescribe 5.0 as a maintenance dose. They say they will continue to prescribe for 2 years. So I guess I am stepping down now. I have an appointment booked with Oushk but it is not until 1st April. I'm a bit worried about what happens from here - have never managed to maintain, and I did want to give myself a bit more leeway (I am only 9 lb away from overweight - am short). Hopefully the 5.0 will still help me control my appetite. I absolutely piled on weight when I started HRT which made me ravenously hungry. And I am still on HRT, so I don't expect that to have changed.

mimosa1 · 03/03/2025 17:50

Hi @FlatStanley50 that's really interesting about medexpress and also HRT. My GP will prescribe it for me if I'd like but I'm on the fence as symptoms aren't bad (yet).

I've just edged into the healthy BMi target and I'm really pleased. I'm hoping for the kitchen roll theory to take effect - you take off a sheet in the beginning and you can barely tell, but when the roll is thinner, one sheet has a huge effect on overall sliminess iyswim!

FlatStanley50 · 03/03/2025 18:02

@mimosa1 Well, weirdly - having lost nearly 3 stone since September, it is only in the last 2 weeks that anyone has said anything to me, and suddenly I am getting a lot of ' you've lost loads of weight!' So I think there might be something in that. I'm actually finding it a bit disconcerting, I don't really like that people are noticing , I quite like going under the radar.

I'm quite excited about warmer weather because I think the fact that I have to wear 83 layers to keep warm means that the first day I walk outside wearing a dress instead of an Eskimo suit people won't recognise me 😀

Todays outfit was knee high socks, leggings, joggers, leg warmers on the bottom half. Vest, long sleeved tshirt, jumper and puffy coat on the top half, with a knit hat, gloves and scarf covering all other exposed skin. I feel like the Michelin man.

SpiderMother · 04/03/2025 13:17

I’m at goal!!

I have achieved something I never felt possible and I am so happy.

I am 5 ft 2 and started at the end of August at 12 stone 3.7 and I am now 8 stone 10. That’s just under 50 pounds lost. I was struggling to fit into size 14s and am now wearing size 8. This is the lightest I’ve been since I had children. I feel so much healthier and happier.

I know maintenance is a whole new challenge but for today I am just beyond thrilled. Thank you everyone on here who has shared this journey.

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/03/2025 14:22

Oh well done @SpiderMother !!!

You win all the awards today, that's an amazing achievement.🎉🥳👏🍾

sylv165 · 04/03/2025 14:44

Well done @SpiderMother! We have very similar starting stats - I am 5ft 0 and started at 12st 2lbs. I’m currently at 9st 10 but aiming to get to roughly 8st 10 as my goal weight so great to see you achieving this. Makes me feel like it could be possible for me too!

Itisallgoingtobeok · 04/03/2025 16:10

Well done @SpiderMother, what an amazing achievement! You should be so proud of yourself. We are all cheerleading you into maintenance!

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/03/2025 16:26

I need to lose exactly 1.3lbs to hit healthy BMI. Why is it that when you're close to a goal it somehow seems to take forever to get to it? It's like how the thing you need to reach is always 2mm beyond the end of your fingertips,

It feels like I've not lost much since Xmas, so I've just had to do some analysis on my spreadsheet and that's definitely my perception being screwed rather than the reality of the situation. I was 179lbs on Xmas day and today I'm 165.7lbs so that's a stone lost during that time, or an average of 1lb a week.
